Democrats are expected to deepen their majorities in both chambers of U.S. Congress, but they remain a longshot to turn a slim 51-49 majority in the Senate to a filibuster-proof 60-40.

Do they get a chance to elect a new Speaker?

How many seats will the Losertarians win?

Thankfully.

Repubs need to lose, to be cleaned out, but I woulnd't wish a supermajority on this country.

They won't get to 60, but with a couple of Indies or soft GOpers like Collins, they'll have the opportunity to undo some of the fuckups from Bush.

Be nice to see Pelosi and Reid replaced though...

Maybe we will have more talk of the Nuclear Option again!

Wouldn't that be fun ---- and poetic!

Replaced? Dem's are hell bent on giving themselves a super majority! Whatever she passes, Obama will sign!

The audacity of arrogance!!!

If they get to 59, they better be nice to Joe L. He's going to be one powerful Jew.

I hope he makes Pelosi his bitch. She can look for change in the House chair cushions.

Awe! You are a Romantic!

My guess is the opposit! She looks like the type that likes puttin' the heel to her victems!

Somehow, the GOP managed to cling to more than 40 seats. I would imagine that they'll attempt to filibuster everything for the next 4 years.

Does anyone know the laws in Illinois and Delaware? Obviously those seats will be vacated, so does the Governor of each state get to appoint, or is there a special election?
