I am troubled at the outcome of this election either way. Will we let our bruised egos subside if we lose, or will their be death?

I wouldn't take Indiana to heart. Right wing nutjobs are thick on the ground (They love their guns and their g-o-d). I saw a guy last week with giant cardboard signs taped to his old Chevy pickup that read (for what I could read of it): Obama is a Musulim, Obama is a Socalist, Obama hates white people, etc, etc, etc... I just moved on past and pulled in front of him so he could get a nice view of my Obama sticker and my vote for change sticker for the next few miles.

I don't think Obama's going to win Indiana. He'll do extremely well in Indianapolis and the other urban areas, and probably have strong showings in college towns like West Lafayette. He'll also do well in the far northwest part of the state, near Chicago. But the rest of the state is very rural, and he didn't do very well outside of the major population centers in the primary.

I too live in the great state of Indiana, in a small community just outside the Indianapolis city limits called Pittsboro.

I waited 1.5 hours to vote this AM, and can tell you that 90% of the people in line with me were McCain supporters (it's such a small town we all know each other and each other's politics too). Not to mention most of them have McCain/Palin yard signs.

There was a woman in back of me who was waiting for maybe 20 minutes. She pushed her way to the front to see around the corner so she could see how long the line was. She huffed off, saying something like, "...this is ridiculous." She was an Obama supporter.

How do I know? Because as she was pulling out of the parking lot in her Outback, I saw an Obama sticker in her back window. Needless to say, there was quite a bit of laughter among those of us still in line!!!! I won't mention her name - again it's such a small town anyone from here would know her. But I will say that she lives in town near the Crystal Flash. That's one less brain-dead socialist who'll be voting!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, if you want to talk about "socialism" as compared to "capitalism" then let s look at this. The UK is one of the biggest socialist economies in the world. They, in the last few years have privatized public transport, the airlines, even the media, and many other formally government run programs. In the meantime the Republicans that have been in charge here have socialized some giant wall street firms, banks, and pretty soon the auto industry. Te only kind of socialism that this country needs (one that might benefit anyone but the ultra rich), it doesn't have.... health care. I really wish people that do not understand what they are talking about would stop tossing out things they heard McCain or Palin say because they were using them out of context in the hope that it would rile up the stupid.

Exactly! ...and I came off a little strong too which also not usually my style. I just heard the word "socialist" used wrong for the 1,000,000th time in the last month and I snapped!

But the fact is: Unless you live way out in the middle of nowhere on land you didn't buy, and are totally self reliant, pay no taxes, take advantage of none of the things we take for granted living in any type of organized community. You are by definition a Socialist.
