Nearly 1 in 4 Texans mistakenly believe Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama is a Muslim, more than twice the U.S. rate, a poll indicated. Twenty-three percent of Texan adults are convinced Obama is a Muslim, compared with 5 to 10 percent of U.S. adults overall, the University of Texas poll said.

What no belt buckle?

Texas where ignorance is a virtue.

Nearly 1 in 4 Texans believe Mogambo is a Muslim?

It's rather more than 1 in 4... more like half, from what I've heard.

Why doesn't he drop the "Hussain" in his name?

I am so sorry there is a good chance he is going to win.

Texas where ignorance is a virtue... and sheep are a man's best friend.

So what, exactly is wrong with being a muslim? Just because some radicals in a religion are violent crazies, does that condemn the whole religion? If I remember history correctly, there has been a lot of violence in the name of Christianity. Do 19 muslims or even 1 million muslims who fit this description necessarily describe the other Billion+ muslims? And if it did, what do you think you can do about a Billion people? Bomb them all?

"and sheep are a man's best friend."

Posted by Corky

I only have cattle, thank you.

And that should be "where sheep are afraid" if you must know. Seems they're particularly afraid of goats and retired band directors.

"where sheep are afraid"

You are correct, sir.

Beastiality references????

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

Rogers enjoys the references, being from Texas himself. It is the pics that Zat posted that he would have preferred in private mail.

They also wear button-fly jeans because sheep can hear a zipper a mile away.

not suprised

nanc prolly told them this.

"the pics that Zat posted"

Hey! That wasn't a sheep, it was a collie.

And there are likely 10%-25% in every state that think this.

Guess that New Yorker magazine cover didn't help.

Nor did several of your misleading posts as you tried to drum in that message.

so typical for the left for comments to follow

I tell you that I am not of that percentage.
there are PLENTY of other reasons to not vote for obama than to think that he is a muslim..........

but you see......THE LEFT AND thier lapdog media who is in the tank for obama wont let us look that much into his past

OR THE LA TIMES WOULD release the video of him and a palestinian supporter who obama has known for years.

so if there is NOTHING to it..........then release the tape and lets see.......

Hell that's nutin. I know he is a socilist.

Big deal. Over half thought Bush was Presidential material. Time to give it back to Mexico.

So what, exactly is wrong with being a muslim?

#8 | Posted by WhoDaMan

The problem is that in Texas, and the rest of McCain / Palin's "real America", Muslim translates into "terrist". But, hey, we already had this figured out. After eight years of Bush, with all due respect to Texans on this site, we know that intelligenge and ignorance levels in that state are pretty high. But they are also pretty high in much of the area of my state, Virginia.

"But they are also pretty high in much of the area of my state, Virginia."

Except for the Communist north.
~Joe "911" McCain

The same percentage believe that the Bushes are native Texans.

1 in 4 Texans think a preppie is a cowboy.

uh...........good one...........except that mexico is taking it back themselves.........one illegal at a time............I mean everytime my townhome community has the yardwork done, I see another one............yuk yuk

Texas the armpit of the United States, anyone want to bet that these brain dead fucks get thier news from FOX NEWS??????

FOX NEWS, Fuck that, (FIXED NOISE)is a disgrace Fair an Balanced my Ass!!!!!!!

The Nativists are panicking these days. The majority of children in the country are now non-white. The number of interracial couples has been steadily increasing for years. Immigration (both legal and illegal) is bringing in people of color (and many religions) from all over the world. The "white" Christians are retreating into enclaves. Some of the mega-churches I've seen lately are mini cities. The problem comes when the "whites" become a minority, but still want to be in control. Ultimately, the only argument they will be able to make is that they are "better". That's the point at which they will have to confront their (perhaps subconscious) racism. South Africa, anyone?

center for media affairs has released report that on fox news there were virtually AS MANY negative reports on mccain as there were on obama.
YOU MIGHT be more correct to mention that your ranting bullshit would be more correct if you JUST talked about hannity for instance, but I am sure you are not the least interested in intellectual honesty.

as far as your texas comment.........blow itcher ass...........

HOLY F@#&ING SH!T BATMAN!

1 IN 4 TEXANS ARE ABLE TO THINK?

ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING.

And they can see the South Pole from their house!!

oh good ones...........send them in to stewart...

and for those of you who call me and other texans racist.

this tuesday I will proudly cast my vote for a black man and one who is, if you saw him, is a WHOLE LOT BLACKER than obama

I will vote for charles wilson for RR commissioner of the great state of texas...........

a republican who just happens to be black.......

and I also voted for a dem for mayor of houston, so dont give me all your racists and party first bullshit....its simply not true

That's nothing -- 9 out of 10 Americans believe there's a God.

It would appear that knowledge is a dirty word for these pricks who would rather wallow in hate and ignorance. But kudos for the rebubs - one of their lies actually got traction.

Anyone who has seen the air they breathe in most of Texas (and yes, I mean *see* it), the intelligence levels will come as no surprise. Kills brain cells, that stuff does.

Unfortunately, a LOT of their lies get traction.

Mayors and Dogcatchers don't count as far as partisan politics goes. No mayor or dogcatcher is going to affect the national laws.

How many dem senators have you voted for and why? How many dem congress people have you voted for and why? How many dem Presidential candidates have you voted for and why?

You have never voted for a dem for national office---you are party first---and that is the truth.

What's the difference between an angel and a ghost, and how many believe in ghosts?

Shrub comes from the mexican meaning for the word arbusto Dubya's first oil business venture.

1 in 4 Texans think?

Wow, news to Spud.

Spud thought it more like 20 percent so that's actually pretty impressive.

Be Well.

larry,

I believe Taxas's finest dead journalist, Molly Ivans, coined the nickname. He doesn't really rise to the level of a "bush", thus "shrub" is more appropriate.

The state that made the easy rider rifle rack a fashion accessory ... is it just coincidence that you see them on every 4th vehicle?

Molly Ivans coined the term Dubya for His Middle name. Arbusto was Dubya's first Oil business the same one that a Salem Bin Laden helped jump start. Arbusto roughly translated into Shrub in Mexico. Hense the term Shrub for Bush.

That's nice, but I bet you've also done nothing to dispell the myth.

#18 | Posted by bushlovertwo

The paper can't release any tape that they've promised a source they wouldn't. To do so would strip them of ALL credibility. The tape has only been a distraction. Should we filter through ALL the unviewed tape of McCain that exists? I bet there's plenty of it.

While I dislike deflections, what was your answer when Governer Bush hides records at his dads presidential library?

Americans 'Overwhelmingly' Believe in Angels; Says One-in-Five Claim Personal Sightings"

In fairness, I saw this angel at the beach last summer-she made the near dead rise.

49-in-50 states think Texas is fool of inbred idiots.

OK, that backfired and I am the fool. My post should have read "full of idiots." Maybe I am from Texas...

Well, it IS Texas.

87% of DR readers believe you're a joke.

I think that is less than the percentage of Texans (or Americans for that matter) that think that the Earth is 6,000 years old.

An intelligent design so intelligent that the creator takes the heat source and sticks it 93 million miles away from Earth.

Well, any closer to the sun and we are Venus; any further away and we are Mars so I would say the placement is pretty damn intelligent, even though I don't subscribe to the ID arguement.

Do you know what percentage of the sun's radiation hits Earth?

The point being that if the Sun was created after the Earth strictly to provide light, heat, and energy it is ridiculous to create something so huge and then have a miniscule amount of its energy hit the Earth.

.00000000018 is the fraction of the sun's energy that hits the Earth.

Poll: 1 in 4 Texans think Obama's a Muslim"

Why shouldn't they. His buddy, Bill Ayers wrote a book titled "Prairie fire", where he dedicated the book to Sirhan Sirhan who is a muslim.

"Poll: 1 in 4 Texans think Obama's a Muslim"

If you lived here the only thing that would surprise you is that isn't 1 in 3.

To all the Texans who believe he is a Muslim, I guess you now have to drop the Rev Wright argument.

Which is it, Texans?

"Bill Ayers wrote a book he dedicated to Sirhan Sirhan who is a muslim."

This boggles the mind. A wrote a book and dedicated it to B. B is a muslim. Thus C, who has nothing to do with either A or B, must share another guys' values. What fun for a logic class. herm

It was thrown out by the judge because it had NO MERIT WHATSOEVER.

Even if he is a Muslim who gives a fuck. Does that mean all Muslims are terrorists?? That's the problem with this country....racism and bigotry are still the order of the day. What ever happened to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? What ever happened to alienable rights?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Hell, 9 out of 10 of you lame-ass posters on here mistakenly think anyone gives a rat's ass WHAT you think--about anything.

"9 out of 10"

Bullshit.

It's 1 out of 10,000.

I think it is because he talks to everyone in the middle east except Isreal.

I can see how that makes people think he is a muslim.

1 in 4 texans think Davey Crockett won the Alamo.

One in four Texans believes barbecue sauce is a foodgroup.

It really doesn't matter, now does it?

It comes to what one wishes to believe, either the truth or some bullshit that some disgruntled Freeper imagined and has recirculated on the net more times than 2 girls 1 cup.

Two can play at this game:

"It's true! McCain is from an alien star system! No shit, we have photos of him eating children!"

"I swear, I got this email? Palin's a shoo-in for a Playboy spread."

On and on and on and on and on and on.
