Wendy Button: Since I started writing speeches more than 10 years ago, I have always believed in the Democratic Party. Not anymore. Not after the election of 2008.

YEAH!

Except it's not yet "after the election of 2008"?

Umm, did this get out a tad too early?

You fit her quote perfectly danni:

"I didn't leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me."

The party I believed in wouldn't look down on working people under any circumstance.

Your blind Danni, mostly because of GWB but still blind.

WOW, I'm impressed!! That's ONE non-desript democrat going to the Republicans against about thirty high-profile Republicans jumping ship to the Democrats. Your take-away / give-away ratio is really keeping you guys in the game. HAHAHA...

"The party I believed in wouldn't look down on working people under any circumstance."

Yeah, the Democratic party giving tax cuts to working families....oh how elitist!

This woman is a joke.

Most important line in the article:
"We can talk about the wardrobe and make-up even though most people don't understand the details about Senator Obama's plan with Iraq. When he says, "all combat troops," he's not talking about all troops, it leaves a residual force of as large as 55,000 indefinitely. That's not ending the war; that's half a war."

This woman is a joke.

self retorting retort - oh wait, are you the woman or the man?

Nice find, Kerrin.

I can no longer justify what this party has done and can't dismiss the treatment of women and working people as just part of the new kind of politics. It's wrong and someone has to say that.

You go, girl.

You go, girl.

Yes, by all means. There's not nearly enough militant lesbians pontificating their vitriolic and myopic views on America. She should fit right in with mcsame/failin.

afterwards, they can have a threesome, well, a twoandonehalfsome anyway.

"There's not nearly enough militant lesbians pontificating their vitriolic and myopic views on America."

ewww...I am not one of those...you know...democrat women. Ala Clinton...sheesh.

So in other words, she's not voting for McCain, she's voting against Obama. Most of the defectors on the other side such as Powell have switched because they think Obama will make a better President, not merely because they dislike McCain.

You're dreaming up a story about militant lesbians and a threesome with McCain/Palin because...?

Hell hath no fury like an unemployable woman speechwriter scorned.

She sure sounded like one based on what Obama was reading off the telepromter this whole campaign.

"You're crazier than a shithouse rat."

Naw, 101...his logic circuits are just screwed up....

News flash, Boob....YOU DO! And so do THESE democrats:

The point is that shithouse rats, like yourself, aren't very good judges as to who is crazier---after all, you're a shithouse rat.

This may be the dumbest "why I'm voting for" piece I've read this year.

From the article: " ... at the end of the meeting I handed him a pocket-sized bottle of Grey Poupon mustard so he wouldn't have to ask staff if it was okay to put it on his hamburger. At the bottom of the bottle was the logo for "The South Beach Diet" and he snapped, "Oh so you read People magazine." He seemed to think that I was commenting on his bathing suit picture."

What the hell is that supposed to mean? She's voting McCain because Obama didn't like her gift of mustard?

LOL--that--coming from a shithouse rat.

well havent you ever heard that it takes one to know one..............yuk yuk

and just look at the hypocritial bullshit from the leftists

when a republican supports obama, they are true heroes and patriots and when its the other way around they are "disgruntled cunts"

why am I NOT surprised at that reaction?

cause republicans call people who dont agree with them terrorist loving traitors?

"This may be the dumbest "why I'm voting for" piece I've read this year."

Of course it is. The media and democrats shit themselves with glee whenever a lifelong Republican says they're voting for Obama, or even when the third cousin of the wife of the grandson of a Republican says so. But this story - no - the stupidest one all year. What a surprise.

Why the special attention to "tearing down two female candidates". The whole campaign process is about tearing down candidates! Why should female candidates get a pass from this process?

I smell a female speechwriter who thinks women candidates deserve some special kid glove treatment. She's not concerned with issues and qualifications, only with gender. EXACTLY the kind of dimwit the Palin choice was meant to coddle.

cause the Democrats call people who don't agree with them Nazi racist misogynist bigots.

Bob,

If I were you, I would take 'Crazy as a Shithouse Rat' as a compliment.

Not trying to say anything about you intelligence, but as far as loony folks go around here at the DR, I have to say man, you are right up there.

Not that there is anything wrong with that. Seriously.

racist bigot?

you repeat yourself, over and over again.

btw dont forget ignorant.

Nice generalization there Hitler......

My pleasure, Stalin.

that would be osama, get into the 21st century.

republicans are soooooo stupid.

TH,

You forgot "Commies" in your original post.

terrorist is the new commie, get with the program.

you are so last week.

The sounds of ingratitiude and self-servitude.
It should be pointed out that the issue of Palin's wardrobe was raised by the RNC not Democrats.

DID two liberals REALLY posts these in succession

Nice generalization there Hitler......

anyone see the irony besides me

But this story -- no -- the stupidest one all year. What a surprise.

Her reasons would be stupid if she was using them to justify a vote for Obama too. It's just a dumb piece. Reminds me of Lady Rothschild's endorsement of McCain because Obama's "too elitist."

I think her point was that he was rude to her. Lefties make a huge deal out of the fact that McCain is too "grumpy" or "angry" to be president - why can't this woman say the same thing about Obama?

BLT,

Actually, no irony at all.

The 3 of us were engaging in good-natured banter.

did anyone find it surprising that BLT didnt get it?

"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Oh oh...Boob's having another episode...time to say goodnight, Boob.

It's good to see the Repubs finally have some good news......even if it is just one more vote.

Good for you!

just wait awhile and you will be proven right.....

liberal hypocracy runs so rampant around here thats its hard at times to seperate thier "FACTS" from reality.............

have a great day....

Still no point I see. What would it take for you to make a statement? Need a grant? Pick a subject you think I am "crazy" about--somthing you KNOW is true---something that I have stated is not true. I can tell you haven't had your little ass kicked in a while.

If this is what "The Daily Beast" wants to publish, it has a short life. But then Tina Brown is good at that.

We'll probably be hearing from Lady Lynne Andrew Stein Forrester Rothschild thingummyjig on the Beast any minute.

This Button woman should be lucky she wrote a word she got paid for.

"Pick a subject you think I am "crazy" about"

All subjects, ever.

Fellows Fellows, let's not lose track of what's important here.

What I want to know is, 'who the hell carries around a pocket sized bottle of Grey Poupon mustard anyway'.

This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game.

----

Yep.

Politics as usual packaged as "change".

She's just pissed cause speechwriter Davey "axis of evil" Frum got more press than her for dumping Mccadaver and Appalin.

Keerin-you got that link to African Press International yet?

She's voting McCain because Obama didn't like her gift of mustard? -- #30 | Posted by rcade

Well, no, you have to read past the first couple paragraphs:

This drift started on a personal level with the fall of former Senator John Edwards. It got stronger during the Democratic National Convention when I counted the substantive mentions of poverty on one hand and a whole bunch of bad canned partisan lines against Senator John McCain. Some faith was lifted after Senator Hillary Clinton's grace during a difficult hour. But that faith was dashed when I saw that someone had raided the Caligula set and planted the old columns at Invesco Field.

The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked. He wasn't "a real plumber," and "They're fighting for Joe the Hedge-Fund manager," and the patronizing, "I've got nothing but love for Joe the Plumber."

Having worked in politics, I know that absolutely none of this is on the level. This back and forth is posturing, a charade, and a political game. These lines are what I refer to as "hooker lines"a sure thing to get applause and the press to scribble as if they're reporting meaningful news.

As the nation slouches toward disaster, the level of political discourse is unworthy of this moment in history. We have Republicans raising Ayers and Democrats fostering ageism with "erratic" and jokes about Depends. Sexism. Racism. Ageism and maybe some Socialism have all made their ugly cameos in election 2008. It's not inspiring. Perhaps this is why I found the initial mocking of Joe so offensive and I realized an old line applied: "I didn't leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic Party left me."

The party I believed in wouldn't look down on working people under any circumstance.

Not sure how she gets to a McCain vote from all of this, but I sure understand why she won't vote Dem.

What, she thinks women and the Middle Class will get a BETTER break with Grampy Poopy Pants? LOL! Where has she been for the past 8 years, under a rock? LOL! Frankly, I think this is from The Onion, right?

Good stuff per usual, Phoenix.

I think Dawn is just jealous because she knows you are hotter than she is. :-)

One of the best things that has happened as a result of the Republican reign of power (2 lost elections) and a black man's nomination for presidency, is that it has cleaned house in the Democratic party.

Conservative and Neo-con Dems defected to Republican party. Now even closet racists are going home to their true party. Dem party before contained many Southern and various other Dixie or conservative people.

What is left now in the Dem party is people that are truly left of center, which I think is the majority of Americans (whether they know it or not). Now both liberals and moderates that are left of center have a party that they feel is theirs and take ownership of.

If Obama wins and the Congress becomes more Dem, then this will be the first time in history that a truly left-of-center party has been in power here.

Fostering Ageism? How stupid can you get.
That old bastard wouldn't survive the first six months of his Presidency.
Which would leave St Sarah Puling/Palyin' as Pres.
I would work my ass off, or do anything that's LEGAL to prevent THAT.

I guess you aren't bright enough to follow simple instructions. What a surprise.

I am excited that about this article. It shows there are still intelligent Democrats out there who don't drink the Kood Aid.

Obama is fraud, a sham and unworthy of the presidency. His image is manufactured and the press won't attack him. Even the LA Times won't turnover critical videotapes of him. MSNBC is a running Obama infomercial. CNN is the same. If you attack him you are a racist. The arrogant millionaire attacks the little working class guys like Joe The Plumber and people in small towns that are religious and believe in gun rights. Obama is a turd and I am glad he is slipping in the polls.

"Even the LA Times won't turnover critical videotapes of him."

*Gasp!* Next thing you know, we'll have to wait years to discover the identity of Deep Throat.

Let's see the dems have come down to a desperate anyone but a Republican.... so they have to settle with Obama :

--- So Junior, he jumps the line.
--- Resume razor thin people still don't know him well.

--- Very little accomplishement.

--- Book written by Ayers and mentored by him.
--- Lied about campaign finance.
--- Right now rolling in money from illegal donors.

--- And the liberal media gushed for him, (and lost credibility: will pay for years to come, and will experience buyers' remorse later).

And more....

"Conservative and Neo-con Dems defected to Republican party. Now even closet racists are going home to their true party. Dem party before contained many Southern and various other Dixie or conservative people."

Organofthought, one problem with that idea is Sarah Palin. I personally know several conservative Republicans who ditched their party just because they do not think Palin is capable of being president. They won't stay with the Dems for long but they just couldn't allow her to be one heart beat away from the presidency.

"--- Book written by Ayers and mentored by him.

How phony! Really, sincerely, phony!

She's a phony.

should be a good shakeup of both parties after this one. Don't forget the 4 B's of Democrat control.

Beans, Bullets, Band-aids, and Bullion

She finally made up her mind. I wonder why? What would make a democrat speech writer change her mind?

Pretty easy answer
Upper Level politics and massive lies
within both parties, same/same.
Do anything/Say anything/Write anything to get elected
It's when the creativeness & ability of the
individual to write/fabricate the
material has crossed their personal
threshold of "wrong" behavior and
they are expected to produce effective
material. At the end of the day you have to
look in the mirror and judge yourself!

I think she wants to be sure Obama hears her this time!

& I bet he does.

She waited almost until the election was to be held knowing that this way she will be heard, but in the end knowing, too, she did a service to that almost intangible cause of what she once believe in.

Ditchdiggers, dishwashers & so forth are just as worthy to the American dream that once was ~ & can be again ~ as Ceo's & lawyers & so forth.

I embraced this woman efforts to clean up the Democrat Party's spiritual eye & help get it back to its basic beliefs as it soon goes to a very probable huge victory over the most corrupt, sick administration this country has ever seen.

Of course, one 'minor' issue few will want to look at in the near future will remain behind the scenes for another generation to die for in the coming years, of course...
