Sen. John McCain called Tuesday on his fellow Republican, Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, to step down from the Senate after Stevens' conviction for failing to report thousands of dollars in freebies to his home. "Senator Stevens has broken his trust with the people," McCain said.

McCain then called for Ted Stevens to be replaced in the Alaska election by Gov Palin.

"Anything to get this "whack job" "diva" off the ticket!", he was later heard to exclaim.

Actually, what John said was:

"If I was President, I would fire the Senator from Alaska."

Desperately trying to look ethical. Too late.

Sarah Palin associates with known felons.

McCain associates with Sarah Palin.

Therefore McCain associates with known felons.

Did McCain clear this position with Mayor Mooseville or will she have to get all mavericky on his sorry ass?

Actually, it was Sarah who said, "If I were VP, I would fire the Senator from Alaska."

All partisanship aside, I'm glad to see people on both sides of the aisle calling for this corrupt, lying scumbag to step down. I really hope he goes to jail.

Don't fuck with me RCADE, I have a thousand of them!

Actually, it was Sarah who said, "If I were VP, I would fire the Senator from Alaska."

huh?

what does that reference?

Follow the news, newby! Palin said that as president of the Senate, she is in charge of the senators

Sarah Palin associates with known felons.
McCain associates with Sarah Palin.
Therefore McCain associates with known felons.

Does Obama know about the change in his supporters' stance on "associating with known felons?"

Ahh......got it now.

I was going with the SEC reference.

You got me.......

Newbie? Oh yeah........

Does Obama know about the change in his supporters' stance on "associating with known felons?"

Yes, but he understands that we are talking about associations within the last couple of decades.

Just a slight difference.......

Does Obama know about the change in his supporters' stance on "associating with known felons?"

Hard as this concept might be for you to grasp, I think it may have been a tongue-in-cheek way to point out how clinging to certain talking points can come back and bite you in the ass.

Every GOP Senator should step down. We know they're all corrupt; Stevens was merely the latest one to be caught.

Why, is either Wright or Ayers a convicted felon?

"Why, is either Wright or Ayers a convicted felon?"

Ever heard of Tony Rezko?

Anybody remember when Dumbya ran back in 2000 declaring the GOP to be "the party of convictions"?

From the folks convicted in the Abramoff scandal to Scooter's conviction and pardon to the convictions in the many pedo-scandals, toilet-sex scandals and prostitution scandals all the way up to the latest conviction of Ted "I paid all the bills they sent me" Stevens, it appears that Dumbya wasn't kidding.

Hell, if it wasn't fer Cheney taking a shotgun to the WH servers both of them coulda/shoulda been convicted as well.

Be Well.

Ever heard of Tony Rezko?

Wasn't that the guy who raised funds fer Bush's re-election?

Be Well.

"Wasn't that the guy who raised funds fer Bush's re-election?"

I don't know. Was he? Have I ever said George Bush was an honest or competent person? No. The point is that Rezko is a convicted felon with knownc connections to Obama. Said connections were always dismissed as mere "guilt by association" by the left. Until, of course, the following change:
Sarah Palin associates with known felons.
McCain associates with Sarah Palin.
Therefore McCain associates with known felons.

Again, I suggest you do a quick search on the definition of irony.

"Why, is either Wright or Ayers a convicted felon?"
You're splitting hairs. Ayers himself admits to bombing buildings in NYC and DC.

Again, I suggest you do a quick search on the definition of irony.

Meaning that turnabout is fair play.

When you do that, you legitimize the practice you previously condemned.

"You're splitting hairs."

Of course. Jury trial, who needs 'em?

No. Meaning the poster's intent was to point out the foibles of clinging to certain talking points when they can too easily come back to haunt you.

And, in this case, did so.

Ever heard of Tony Rezko?

From what I understand he has only been convicted recently, has Obama associated with him since the charges or trial?

And just to be known, I don't care who any politician hangs with unless they are committing crimes or unethical behavior together, then they should be bounced.

"From what I understand he has only been convicted recently, has Obama associated with him since the charges or trial?"

Did McCain or Palin associate with Stevens after his charges or trial? Further, why does that matter? A felon is a felon - Rezko has been part of the corrupt Illinois political machine for years.

"Ever heard of Tony Rezko?"

Ever hear of Gordon Liddy???

"since the charges or trial?"

Wouldn't a better measure be "since the felonious acts occurred?"

No. Meaning the poster's intent was to point out the foibles of clinging to certain talking points when they can too easily come back to haunt you.
And, in this case, did so.

The talking points aren't what's haunting him, its democrats turning it around on him thats doing the haunting.

If it was wrong to do it before when it was about a Dem, its wrong now that the tables are turned.

You are taking the low road.

"Of course. Jury trial, who needs 'em?"

You are truly an intellectual heavyweight. I see the error of my previous statement and humbly cede defeat.

Wouldn't a better measure be "since the felonious acts occurred?"

Sure.

Wasn't Palin working for Stevens at this time?

"Wasn't Palin working for Stevens at this time?"

Was she? Post a link. Either way - do I care? No. If she is guilty because she associates with felons then so is Obama. Period.

You must be about the most namby-pamby poster I've ever seen on here.

It would have been wrong if the poster had been making a serious claim that the Palin-Stevens relationship reflected negatively on Palin.

It would have been taking the low road if the poster had been claiming a moral equivalency.

Holding up a mirror to point out the silliness of the "guilt by association" argument is neither wrong, nor the low road.

Was she? Post a link. Either way - do I care? No. If she is guilty because she associates with felons then so is Obama. Period.

Willful obtuseness is rather unbecoming.

Yawn.

McCain pandering again.
meanwhile in PA, while McCain canceled his outdoor rally because of rain, Obama spoke to 9,000 people in an outdoor rally in the rain. McCain finally moved to an indoor rally and said "It's wonderful to fool the pundits because we're going to win in Pennsylvania" while he spoke to a crowd of around 900

outside of McCain's base no one is listening, he can't catch up, he needs independants and undecideds, they aren't coming to his rallys!

Yeah, Spud read that one this morning. Apparently the cold and the wind and the rain caused Fair Weather McLame to cancel but in an event fifty miles away Obama showed up at his outdoor event to talk to his crowd of 9000 supporters, where he lauded them fer their determination and told them that that kinda spirit was why he is gonna win.

"It's wonderful to fool the pundits because we're going to win in Pennsylvania"

Sure you are, John!

Latest poll results from PA:

RCP Average Obama +10.5
InAdv/PollPosition Obama +9
Morning Call Obama +12
Temple Univ. Obama +9
SurveyUSA Obama +12

Winning PA was McCAN'T's last shot at not losing Big Time.

Guess Obama's pick of that scrapper from Scranton aka Joe the Biden seems prescient and a good indicator of both political accumen and judgement now.

G08ama/Biden '08!

Be Well.

You must be about the most namby-pamby poster I've ever seen on here.

How's that for namby-pamby?

Keep seeking because truth you've yet to find.

Poor frigging cuckholded John mCcadaver....

Palin seems to be thinking that she, not McCain, is running for president when she said to the enthusiastic VA crowd that "Someone I'd like you to meet, and that is my husband, Alaska's 'first dude.' ... It's about time we had a dude in the White House."As far as I know, only the president's spouse gets to be "in the White House."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Good for McCain.. I'm a republican and I think Stevens should resign as well, and the only reason I wouldn't support him being jailed is that he's 84 years old.

I know this stuff goes on all the time.. (Chris Dodd and the sweetheart mortgage comes to mind) but it should be punished. Regardless of party.

can stevens ask her to step down once she is indicted?

When you do that, you legitimize the practice you previously condemned.

#23 | Posted by Hagbard_Celine at 2008-10-28 02:49 PM

Actually, I was just neutralizing this as a practice. And remember that Obama has not said this I did and while it might be beneath him it is not beneath me to point out the irony in this desperate attempt to slander Obama in order to try and score some "points". They won't be enough and at what price? A divided America?

I ask you, is that putting your Country First?

"McCain calls for Stevens to step down"

WHAT ABOUT WILLIAM JEFFERSON, BARNEY FRANK, AND CHRIS DODD STEPPING DOWN.

What have they been convicted of?
