When I look at the bills sponsored by Barack Obama, one thing comes to mind: He has done almost nothing but sponsor pointless "resolutions" in support of one thing or another, and any bills that might have had an impact were never passed. Why isn't this an issue?

I know this has never mattered to his fans. I guess I'm just wondering why?

He has trouble figuring out what he is supposed to believe in so he has to wait till the bill is on the floor so he can see what the rest of the puppets do. So, give the guy a break, he is doing what he can on such a short leash, not that he would know what to do if he ever got off it.

I've asked for people to list his major accomplishments in Illinois or the US Senate. Nobody has delivered. The list above pretty much sums it up.

Gee, too bad Joe is full of crap.

en.wikipedia.org

"and any bills that might have had an impact were never passed."

That is due to the obstructionist Republicans who filibuster virtually any Democratic proposal. Before you post idiotic crap like this you ought to read up on it a little just for the heck of it.

Manni,
How come he wasn't able to reach across the aisle? If he can't convince Republicans to work with him how will he convince China, Iran, NK, Iraq, or Pakistan to work with him?

I'm sure you're il-equipped to answer, but that won't stop you.

Well, name the last Presidential candidate that got anything done in the Senate.

This thread is moot.

I'm confused... I thought Obama was an extreme liberal who pushed his socialist agenda on us while he was in the Senate? How can he be the "most liberal Senator" (as is posted on the DR nearly every day) yet at the same time not do anything?

"yet at the same time not do anything?"

Just because he is a failed seat warmer does not mean his ideals are not known.

the obamunist has changed the game from $250,000 to $200,000 and nobody's paying attention...

Of course it's the Republicans' fault Obama was never able to do anything. The problem with that is that many senators have had to face opposition and have still come through with major accomplishments for America. Obama has not.

Well I guess the highly informative threads about Obama's fake birth certificate had to come to an end sometime.

Carry on.

"Well, name the last Presidential candidate that got anything done in the Senate."

Al Gore.

Gee, too bad Joe is full of crap.

Too bad fer his clients perhaps but personally Spud gets a kick outta Joe's inability to argue rationally.

Danni, FTW, game, set and match.

In case folks are too lazy to click here's a summary.

Obama has sponsored 136 bills since Jan 4, 2005. Two have become law.[2] This figure does not include bills to which Obama contributed very substantially as cosponsor, such as the Coburn-Obama Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 or the Lugar-Nunn Cooperative Proliferation Detection, Interdiction Assistance, and Conventional Threat Reduction Act of 2006. Nor does it include amendments to other bills, although in the Senate these are not required to be germane to the parent bill and can therefore effectively be bills in their own right.[3] Obama has co-sponsored 619 bills during the same time period.

As a junior senator sitting in a deadlocked and obstructionist Seaate obviously Obama wasn't able to move heaven and earth.

As a POTUS with control of both houses it will be an entirely different story.

Wait and see cos it's coming, Joe, like it or not.

Be Well.

/You also ignore his not inconsiderable accomplishment during his eight years as state senator in Illinois.

Actually, Barack Obama does not exist.
There is no such person as Barack Obama.
He is merely the sum total of rightie tighite fears.
A creature of paranoid projection.
And right now, he's beating your collective ass.
As you'll find this election, ideas trump delusions in a time of national crisis.

Your own link: "Obama has sponsored 136 bills since Jan 4, 2005. Two have become law."

The rest does not matter. Facts are facts. Obama has sponsored 136 bills - two have become law. That is an indication that he does not have the leadership or initiative to get things done in a caustic political environment (which, fyi, is not going away anytime soon).

Oh well, at least he sponsored these meaningful resolutions:

S.CON.RES.5: A concurrent resolution honoring the life of Percy Lavon Julian, a pioneer in the field of organic chemistry.

S.RES.133: A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.

S.RES.268: A resolution designating July 12, 2007, as "National Summer Learning Day".

S.RES.383: A resolution honoring and recognizing the achievements of Carl Stokes, the first African-American mayor of a major American city, in the 40th year since his election as Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio.

S.J.RES.23 : A joint resolution clarifying that the use of force against Iran is not authorized by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq (Duh?)

S.1713 : A bill to provide for the issuance of a commemorative postage stamp in honor of Rosa Parks.

"Manni,
How come he wasn't able to reach across the aisle?"

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Barack Obama (D-IL), Richard G. Lugar (R-IN), Joseph Biden (D-DE), Gordon Smith (R-OR), Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Tom Harkin (D-IA), Norm Coleman (R-MN) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) today introduced legislation that would reduce U.S. gasoline consumption by nearly half a trillion gallons by 2028 and greatly decrease our dependence on foreign oil.

"You also ignore his not inconsiderable accomplishment during his eight years as state senator in Illinois."

Feel free to post a list of any significant accomplishments he had as an Illinois state senator.

"introduced legislation"

What is the status of that legislation?

Well, after reading this thread so far I can see that joe is nothing but a piece of rhetoric shit.

Why not list some of those bills that did get passed Joe.

I would have given you much more thought but after reading some of the disgenuous comments without actually posting the truth but slight of truth.

"Why not list some of those bills that did get passed Joe."

According to DS there are only two of them - kind of difficult to find. I'll let you know.

"As a junior senator sitting in a deadlocked and obstructionist Seaate obviously Obama wasn't able to move heaven and earth."

The vast majority of his bills never made it out of committee, and most of his co-sponsorships have been in lending his name only. You can blame it on someone else all you want, say the republicans stopped him, say they would have breezed through had the committee not laughed them off the table but it is a wishful thinking at best. By the way if you think that somehow the republicans are this massive party of puppets only voting for bill with an R next to the sponsors name you might want to look at this.
projects.washingtonpost.com
Notice how far you have too scroll to see an R?

Who are the political parrots now?
Who's presidential ticket has two guy above any republican?

According to DS there are only two of them - kind of difficult to find. I'll let you know.

Bull shit, you spent the time going through and cherry picking the trite ones.

Show a little honesty, you idiots are all the same.

"you spent the time going through and cherry picking the trite ones."

To be honest, those are the first things that come up on thomas.loc.gov. They are his "accomplishments" - feel free to add more if you care to do so.

Oops, I did miss one:

S.RES.133 : A resolution celebrating the life of Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson.
3/28/2007 Passed/agreed to in Senate.

Dayton Daily News: Obama Ethics Amendments Got Reform Bill Improved Instead of Watered Down. The Dayton Daily News wrote in an editorial, "Indeed, the bill goes further than Democrats even promised during the campaign. This was one of those rare occasions when a reform bill is introduced, then, rather than get watered down, gets watered up. This fact has been widely attributed to the work of Sens. Barack Obama, D-Ill., and Russ Feingold, D-Wis. They proposed reforms that the other senators - while reportedly not happy about - decided they couldn't oppose in the current political environment." [Dayton Daily News, Editorial, 1/24/07]

"baracks site"

Obamas site contains no useful info. It is a weak propaganda site that barley outlines his stances and then only the ones he want people to know about. His site completely ignores one of the most important issues, his judicial picks. But just as everything else with this guy his strategy is to give as little info as possible that way people can apply their own ideals to him no matter what his truly are, unfortunately it is working.

With the exception of his VP choice, Obama's run the cleverest campaign in history. He stands for nothing, has no record on which to be attacked. If Hillary couldn't hang on to a greasy pig at the fair, you knew McCain didn't have a chance.

Even now, nothing Obama does can possibly get traction. Is he for or against offshore drilling? Yep. How about tax cuts--is he for them or not? Absolutely! Iraq--will he keep troops to win, or withdraw them immediately? Of course!

And so on.

Iraq and win..........LOL!

Win what? It is even funnier now that they are having negotiations with the iraq government about how long the troops will stay but you righties still have the idiocy to call it a war.

I simply don't understand your post. You seem to think you are so up on current economic issues but are too lazy to actually find out about obama issues.

Is it because you are dumb or is it just lazy ignorance?

At least we know Obama thinks that the use of force against Iran is not authorized by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Against Iraq.

RiR, you forget the game changer. AS it turns out a piece of previously chewed turkey jerky would win if it spent as much as obama has, all this election will probably tell us is how much the highest office in the world costs.

Look here, it is a love fest of the republican repo tards throwing out character bashes of obama.

MW- Still waiting for you to post some of Obama's accomplishments. So far I've posted more of them than you have. You claim they exist but so far have offered nothing.

Moneywar,
Say something funny. You know, try and sound smart.

Clinton was a do-nothing president. Its better to have a guy who isn't going to do anything that it is to have a guy who does alot of stupid shit.

True. If only all 100 senators could be as ineffective as Obama.

**** How can he be the "most liberal Senator" (as is posted on the DR nearly every day) yet at the same time not do anything?

obamarxism dates to his college days. why don't they just come out and admit it?

why don't they just come out and admit it?

Umm, that would prolly be cos it's patently untrue.

Here's the deal Nanc, while yer regurgitating right wing talking points about Obama being a Marxist Spud is more worried that he's really just another overly corporately beholden DC Pol pretending to be a populist.

Spud's other worry is that if Obama is who he sez he is and he does try and fix the systemic problems in DC and close the open sewer pipe it's become he will be taken out of the equation JFK style.

/obligatory

Be Well.

When Obama figures out what he believes in, I guess the rest of us will too.

It's irrelevant, because they're not going anywhere.

Nice deflection, though. Your boy doesn't stand for anything, except a colossal belief in his own indispensability.

And to Dems, that's enough.

it's not irrlevant, loser.

They're not going to win, so it doesn't matter what they believe should be done in the White House. But if you want to obsess over McCain and Palin for months and years to come, that's your problem. Maybe you should join the Unabletomoveon.org crowd, and live your life like the losers there.

"Here's the deal Nanc, while yer regurgitating right wing talking points about Obama being a Marxist Spud is more worried that he's really just another overly corporately beholden DC Pol pretending to be a populist."

and while you're eructing that i'm regurgitating, you may wish to read HIS own words. you act like i said them!

COME ON JOE

give him his due

he has done TWO wonderfull things in the senate

he has made a RUN FOR THE WHITE HOUSE

and he has become a multimillionaire........

OOPS wait a minute

he could have become just as rich as a member of the CHicago political machine with bros like rezko to help him..........so that one might be a toss up.,,.............

Obama versus McCain in the 109th and 110th sessions:

Stand-alone Bills Passed Into Law:

McCain 3
Obama 1

Bills Sponsored in the Senate:

McCain 97
Obama 137

Sponsored Amendments Passed Into Law:

McCain 10
Obama 15

Simple Resolutions Passed (these don't have the force of law; they express the "sense of the Senate," etc.):

McCain 6
Obama 6
