Sarah did step on several political bigwigs on her way to the governor's office --- I won't be surprised if the folks running Anchorage Daily News have political friends or relatives who are still smarting from Sarah's footsteps.

No surprise - I travel extensively and most cities papers I read are left leaning [the editorial section is always a dead give away]. The average member of the populace now days knows the major media is in the tank for democrats, that's why talk radio and the internet have become so important as a source of information and why papers' endorsements of candidates have become meaningless.

Repub papers like the Chicago Trib and Anchorage daily back O'Bama, at least in part because it would be unthinkable to do otherwise, and the rigid right suggests they've turned red. Gawd!. herm

Letter: After reading your endorsement for Senator McCain where you quoted "[N]owhere else in the country do voters know John McCain like Arizonans know John McCain", I was wondering if you even considered why the Anchorage Daily News couldn't say the same thing about Palin. Alaska's largest paper just endorsed Obama. Here's what they had to say about their favorite daughter: "To step in and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range. Like picking Sen. McCain for president, putting her one 72-year-old heartbeat from the leadership of the free world is just too risky at this time".

McCain must be thinking he had a case of temporary insanity when he selected Palin. I wonder if he realizes that this will be as bad for his future as ignoring the warning buzzer when his jet was fired on over North Vietnam.
