Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama went head-to-head on the economy, domestic policy and foreign affairs as they faced off in their second presidential debate at Nashville's Belmont University, a 90-minute town hall in which questions were asked by voters.

Town Hall Event Rules
The Obama-McCain event tonight consists of two parallel press conferences that happen to be in the same room. The detailed rules hammered out by the two campaigns state that the questions were to have been submitted in advance by the audience members and over the Internet. The questioner may not change the question and the microphone will be cut off after the question. Neither the questioner nor the moderator, Tom Brokaw of NBC, may ask followup questions. The candidates may not question each other. There will be no debate at all. Who does this format favor? Probably neither candidate. Usually the questions the general public asks aren't very hard, are largely predictable in advance, and have already been asked 100 times ("how will you fix the economy?"). The candidates have stock answers they will reel off. Given the current state of polling, McCain needs to shake things up and Obama needs to keep the status quo. An event that doesn't rock the boat much thus de facto works for Obama. Nevertheless, once in a while something unexpected happens at one of these events. In 1992, someone asked the candidates how the national debt affected them personally. George H.W. Bush was flustered by the question (by which the questioner probably meant the budget deficit) and it threw him off stride somewhat.

its not a debate it's a dual press conference

Agreed.

Spud's still got popcorn at the ready.

A half full glass of beer is still better than no beer at all.

Spud's an optimist.

Be Well.

Fuck, and no baseball either.......

Maybe I can try to catch Greg Oden's debut on Radio.

I offered a lifeline to McCain --- I hope he use it.

DEBATE DRINKING GAME -- one swig every time McCain says:

my friends
hope
maverick
Obama will raise your taxes
Sarah Palin
country first
I'll bring change to Washington, DC

Okay, I have to run now.

Y'all feel free to add on to this list.

Should be fun. McSame is bound to be in a nasty mood since his campaign is slowly sinking away.

I hope Obama cleans His clock with class and grace. You Go Obama.

Enjoy the debate!

See you in November!

I mentioned a few weeks ago I'm going to the debate tonight. Getting ready to head out the door. Luckily, I have a friend who lives down the street from the campus, so I won't have to shuttle to the debate.

Heard there will be about 1000 in attendance. Although the Curb Center holds 5500, they've turned it into a huge TV set. No cameras allowed inside the debate hall, but I'm going to stop by the media center on my way to the arena. A friend is a reporter. He told me he'd email some pics I can put up on PhotoBucket.com to share with you all. They won't be from inside the debate area (where no cameras are allowed) but will show some of the stuff going on behind the scenes and in the 25,000 sq ft 'Media Center' where the world wide press will be viewing the debate from. When I get the pics I'll put them up and link them here. May be tonight or tomorrow.

Security is really, really tight. All the roads leading to the campus are closed off and the campus itself is fenced completely in.

Gonna be an interesting night for sure, and very exciting.

Enjoy it y'all.

"Sounds like you've covered the McCainisms. How about these for Obama?"

Ad in um and uh and we'll all be drunk before the second question.

"Who will win Obama of course."

Of course, he could spasm out and shit on the stage(fill in rest of aristocrats joke) and still the media and his followers will say he won.

(fill in rest of aristocrats joke)

Is that a cue?

Who cares about the debate! The entire stock market crashed and China owns us now.

Obama nor McCain can not pull us out of this recession....

I hope Obama cleans His clock with class and grace. You Go Obama.

Larry

Here is a letter I wrote in response to a email from the RNC:

McCain has got to exploit Obama's limited time in the beltway and hammer at his lack of credentials. McCain has been through every major crisis the last 25 years. Not to mention surviving one of the nations biggest divide, Vietnam. Tell the American people he understands the support for Obama and takes his hat off to him. Explain how Obama will no doubt have a mark in American history. But he has not EARNED the right or has the experience to be President. Say he has all the confidence Obama will be ready one day. But not today. Not at this crucial time in our nations survival. Even all his politcal rivals have conceded they do not believe Obama is ready at this time. Also, get on the dems and Obama every single time they bring Bushs name into the conversation. This is another example of having nothing but blanket politics. You have got to get going here. Forget the Houses. Concentrate on nothing but the Presidency. Please our Countrys survival is in your hands. McCain has served and earned the right to be POTUS. Get that message out to the people!!!!

Well stated, CRISP. McCain's a battle tested veteran who needs to make the case it's not Obama's time.

Agreed--to Crisp

McCain needs to hit some homeruns. A tie will not due.

I look forward to seeing your pics and hearing what it's like to attend a debate, AmericanUnity.

My prediction is that Obama will win the debate. McCain's answers on the economy won't be good enough to overcome the natural Democratic edge on the issue, and his cold treatment of Obama will make him look like Tricky Dick Nixon. McCain loathes Obama and hasn't been able to hide it lately. It will make him look uncomfortable in his own skin.

One thing is neither candidate can make any real
spending promises at all with the current and
long term meltdown going on. The talk on this
subject is interesting. I hope for some hardcore
questions without the usual song and dance
answers that we have been hearing for months.

Of course, he could spasm out and shit on the stage(fill in rest of aristocrats joke) and still the media and his followers will say he won.

I think you're confusing him for flailin' palin. Cause she's WITCHPROOF! You betcha! wink wink!

McCain has got to exploit Obama's limited time in the beltway and hammer at his lack of credentials.

While explaining his pick of Sara Palin.

McCain has been through every major crisis the last 25 years.

And was part of many of them.

Not to mention surviving one of the nations biggest divide, Vietnam.

With help from the enemy by aiding the enemy.

Tell the American people he understands the support for Obama and takes his hat off to him.

Exposing his forehead of Melanoma.

Explain how Obama will no doubt have a mark in American history.

As the next President of the US.

But he has not EARNED the right or has the experience to be President.

And displays a shocking photo of Palin riding the underside of a moose.

Say he has all the confidence Obama will be ready one day. But not today.

Is then reminded that it is January 20th that Obama will take control.

Not at this crucial time in our nations survival.

Is reminded that it was Republican policy that McCain supports, that got us into this mess. (Slaps festering Melanoma boil)

Even all his politcal rivals have conceded they do not believe Obama is ready at this time

Is reminded that Obama now has more political support from both sides of the aisle than any recent candidate.

(sorry, phone call)

Also, get on the dems and Obama every single time they bring Bushs name into the conversation.

Is reminded that he has supported Bush 90% of the time.

McCain has served and earned the right to be POTUS.

Crashing planes doesn't earn a guy a damn thing.

Don't be surprised if you don't hear back man. There is a reason you are on the outside looking in. Even for the McCain camp, your suggestions suck.

You know it's funny Crispee_Oc the right clais Barack Obama doesn't have the necessary experience to be President. BUT You on the right exude virtues upon Abe Lincoln for How He ran the Country as President and He has about the same amountof experience in the Senates as Barack Obama has. Seems toMe if it was good enough for Your Abe Lincoln then it should be hunky dory for Barack Obama. After all all they were/are just some Lanky Lawyers from Illinois with about the same amount of experience. Oh and correct Me if I am wrong but didn't Abe Lincoln come from a broken Home Himself??

Alcohol poisoning in the first half of the debate doesn't sound like fun.

McCain will absolutely win tonight's debate but the liberal MSM will whistle in the air and proclaim messiah the winner....

FACT!

Along with AU, Revdarko will also be at the debate and will be reporting back to the FWRN this Friday and Saturday.

Oh and I dare say Barack Obama has ore experience and earned experience th John McCain. He came from the bottom of the barrel to rise upto greatness. He didn't have a Father with connections to install Him into Positions in life like John McCain had. After all Who would You declare earned His right to the top the Son that uses His Fathers Influences to gain office or the Son that says either Sorry Dad I must strike out on My own/ Or the Son who doesn't even have a well connected Father/Mother who works hard enough HIMSELF to achieve greatness??

Larry

I'm surprised the past couple debates haven't included piss breaks. 90 minutes is a long time to stand and stay hyrdrated. And what if a guy gets the bubbly rumblins? Drop a deuce and hope his opponent doesn't call him on it? Now that's some good reality TV right there. Git er done.

"I say that CHANGE is what we need and to do that we need .......BRRRRRRAPPPPTTTTHHHHHHH
H.....ummm, errrrr....Change! Yes that is IT!

FACT!

I mean... McCain gets a blank look during his answer. A small grunt followed by a sigh of relief. Then a couple moments later in his rebuttal Obama asked, "Dude, did you just s*it yourself? Damn."

McBama will win. Who cares. It's a one party system they have created.. they both voted for the bailout so screw them. I'll never vote for their party again.

Actually the real debates are on the 9th where real issues will be discussed, the independent debates, the candidates invited are

Chuck Baldwin -- Constitution Party
Charles Jay -- Boston Tea Party
Brian Moore -- Socialist Party
Cynthia McKinney -- Green Party
Ralph Nader -- Independent
Bob Barr -- Libertarian Party
Barack Obama -- Nationalist Party
John McCain -- Fascist Party

If McCain speaks of the one who shall not be named you have to drink two drinks!

as for the winner...

I hope the American People win.

I hope that both candidates speak truthfully and clearly about the issues that face the American People.

I hope that the candidates clearly lay out their difference and their programs and plans to fix these problems.

I hope to hear about the Energy Plan for all Americans.

I hope to hear about better Health Care for all Americans.

I hope to hear about better Education for all Americans.

I hope to hear about better jobs for all Americans.

I hope to hear about better relations with the rest of the world.

I hope to hear what CHANGE really means.

I hope I don't get too drunk with that drinking game!

But, I am obviously a dreamer and none of that will probably happen...except the getting drunk part.

Democrat Brokaw?

Are you on drugs?

Brokaw is a shill for the right. Sorry if you didn't realize that.

DON-
I've had the afternoon free from Mrs Oohrah's oversight... and with little to do but reply to a number of client emails, I've had the luxury of getting a six pack or so head start on tonight's events. Let the games begin, my friend!

Its gonna be hard to swing for the fences with arms as f-d up as his.

According to Barack Obama's chief political strategist, the freshman Illinois senator is prepared for his GOP rival to "take the gloves off" at tonight's debate here, continuing the Republican's assault of recent days.

But David Axelrod says Obama will try to stay focused on the global economic crisis, not just any attacks by Sen. John McCain.

"We're prepared for a very aggressive debate," Axelrod told reporters aboard Obama's plane today en route to Nashville from North Carolina.

Should the need arise, Axelrod said, taking off one glove as a preemptory warning himself, Obama will remind Americans during the debate here at Belmont University of the Arizona senator's role in the "Keating 5" thrift scandal of the 1980s.

"The Keating case is pretty germane to the discussion we're having right now," Axelrod said. "The Keating issue was one....

...in which Sen. McCain intervened with regulators on behalf of a financial institution that ultimately collapsed, and taxpayers were left holding the bill."

It does not matter who wins. With the McCain tied to the economy he really cannot win.

It has nothing to do with Obama. It would not matter, if the shoe were on the other foot and we had a Dem president, Obama would be losing and McCain would be wining.

I have a slightly different idea for the drinking game:

Every time either one of the candidates lies through his teeth.

Which of course would mean every time he opens his damn mouth.

Three sheets to the wind inside of 20 minutes, you betcha!

NOW DRINK!

And on to more important matters, I for one will be happy that the good Reverend Darko will be back to his shenanigans afore long. Makes Friday Night just that slight amount more amusing.

Alcoholic's Anonymous recommended drinking game:

One drink anytime Sarah Palin is spotted in the audience or seen spinning after the debate.

I don't know whether Obama or McCain is right handed. But assuming they are right handed... be aware that when recalling, visual people briefly glance upward to the opposite side of their handidness.

When "creating" an answer (not necessarily lying) they will glance up to the same side as their handidness.

So, assuming they are right handed... when they look up to their right, be aware - they are making up an answer vs recalling their past.

Also, take note if they glance downward (briefly) before they begin their talk. Sometimes that can reveal they aren't confident they're going to utter solid info.

Maybe others more educated in these areas can add to what I've said - or correct errors.

I'd be knee-walking drunk within 15 minutes.

Then be sure to watch this from home and not have to drive home....

I'm hearing on talk radio and even from my gardener that people are buying safes and guns.

I'm scared.

Chris, may I suggest then that you do your drinking alone, and at home.

And, I know you might not like this idea, but you might want to buy yourself a firearm as well. You and I, and I think a few others (I point to the NWO Act II thread) have a fair to middlin' idea what's coming whether we like it or not.

no matter how hard i try i cannot get the words out of my head of one of mcsames town hall meetings.

some young dude asked him how he would respond to someone saying he was gonna die within his first term.

he said, 'Thanks for the question, you little jerk.'

I am prepared with snacks and beverages. The last 2 debates, it was fun to post here whilst watching.

We'll be able to tell the game participants by the degradation of their typing skills as the debate rages on.

I'd been thinking about it. I'm all alone here so it might be a good idea.
Not be be overly dramatic, but this is the start of a global meltdown. And as our economy here gets worse -- and it will -- and more people are put out of work, pensions are gone, 401ks shredded, stock portfolios worth 1/10th of what they used to be, and people forced to tap into the remaining equity of their homes to just make it, then you are going to see a big rise in crime everywhere.

I'm afraid so, Chris. I'm afraid so.

Good luck to those who survive this. I'd raise my glass to you, but it's empty right now.

I hope these two clowns don't waste any debate time talking about 1960's terrorists and the Keating 5. Americans want to hear about our economy and what they are going to do about it. Also about jobs and health care and stuff that matters.

Almost time.

I'm gonna go outside and listen to it on the radio.

In honor of the candidate, I've eschewed the usual Luckies for a pack of Kools.

Peace!

I have to respond to #74.

Never happen, Chris. Bread and circuses all the way.

I think Jack Nicholson said it best as the Joker when he said, "This town needs an enema!"

He talks about 911 and he hanged for 15 years with a domestic terrorist

No answer by Obama

Obama hits the GOPhers fer their absurd "shopping is patriotism" meme in the wake of 9/11?

Luffs it.

Be Well.

And Obama answers. Nice.

McCain bombed that question. Obama killed it.

So mCains answer to "what will you ask americans to sacrifice" Answer: No specifics.

Exactly. We are doing just fine and we can maintain the status quo with no worries. No need to sacrifice at all. Didn't you get the memo?

i'll say it again, you're an idiot smurphy

we all got drunk together

I'm drunk to!

this doesn't even pass the laugh test. If this is what your counting on.
November 4 is gonna be a big wake up call.

I have never heard more generic answers and complete morons in my life. If you hate both of these men, vote third party or stay home. They don't deserve our time or our attention. I can read their answers in an online article. They just change a couple of words and both say the same thing. A waste of 34 minutes that I'll never get back.

well repubs think deficits don't matter

too, not "to".

Point proven.

What did Obama say the American people have to sacrafice?

That's worth votes in Iowas.

Jello to the wall...cute Juan!

Not to mention, how in the world is Mcain gonna freeze the entire budget and keep the government running?

Sounds like he wants to snap his finger and make everything ok...

Foolish!

Notice he says small business revenue not small businesses. Did anyone else pick that up?

He wants to prolong the recession and tough times here by raising taxes.

That is what FDR did and the depression lasted way longer than needed.

Sacrifice. Well, anyone with a brain read that as "carbon footprint" being lowered, incentives to cut energy use by homes and businesses.

CONSERVATION(he said to the "conservative" sMurphy)

*sigh*

he's got news, the news is bad? i thought we were fundametnally sound

John, you're health insurance plan is a tax on the poor.

Huh? McCain just said we lost 700,000 jobs???

err, McCain we've lost more than 3 million jobs since Bush has been in office. Just last MONTH we lost 150,000 jobs.

Ok Obama lets just completely bypass a simple question that has probably been the most important asked tonight. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

smurphy again ahhhh fuck it. your administration is the first in history not raise taxes during a time of war. didn't you just post something to the affect that we are in a war? that's half the reason we're in this situation.

Lost a wheel!!!!!!

Lost half the fucking bus!!!

lol

Bo--when you freeze there are no increases and in conjuction with cuts for pork and abuse and rid the system where there is fraud.

Freeze is NOT a cut--it is maintaining the status quo.

Tax cuts to 95% where 40% don't even pay taxes. He just watns to give them a check for $500--

It's called buying your vote.

Question on Obama that I have been wanting to ask, when he says if you make less than $250K per year then you don't have to worry, does that mean total household or would it be $500K for married filing jointly? Has anyone ever asked that question?

It's called buying your vote.

When Obama says Bush--take a drink

Obama blew it big time.

He should have told everyone McCain intends to pay for his health care plan by cutting back on Medicare payments to doctors and hospitals -- something that will force many hospitals and physicians to close their doors.

Not another God Damn commission, and the base closing commission was a total scam.

Does McSame have a new prosthetic arm?

40% of the 95% don't pay taxes??? i'd like to see your source on that smurphy

he was on a nuclear sub so he knows it's safe and clean

Ooohhh what a fucking retort by Obama on the "doesn't understand" issue. Fucking-A right man!

general welfare did not mean HC for Americans for the Founding Fathers..

OW. Obama kicks McCain in the nads on iraq.

Obama just said that he will crack down on Insurance Companies. He will not allow a company to go to a state like Arizona, where there limited regulations and sell insurance to you.

Mr. Obama,

That company can only sell Health Insurance to those people of Arizona. That company can not sell insurance to anyone in another state, unless that state allows it.

It's seems that Mr. Obama needs to know what he's talking about before he gets out there in front of people.

In conclusion, Mr. Obama, the State is responsible NOT YOU!

when did McCain turn into Mr. Tudball?

"Mrs. hhhhhWiggins, can you come in here and be my VP?"

America is a peacekeeper sex John?

Sometimes this is true.

But not in Iraq.

Either post invasion/occupation or prior to that when Rumsfeld sold WMD to Saddam Hussein because he was "our bastard".

Health Care Insurance is I do declare a National Security Issue and therefore covered under the General Welfare Clause. If You have a bunch of people in a coimmunity that are sick with a communicable disease and unable to go to the local Doctors because they can not afford it. And that disease spreads You will have a catastrophy upon Your hands. It is best to have a Healthy Populace for the safety of all people in the Good ole US of A. It's what is Right for America. It is what is Just for America. It is American.

And Ronald Reagan will be pissing in his grave now that TR is McCain's "Hero"

You going on record here?

McCain quoted Teddy twice.

At least we know McCain has no intention to do whatever's necessary to win against terrorism.

Foreign Policy --McCain is kicking butt--Obama's butt.

Hey Mr Taleeban Tally Me Banana

Health Care Insurance for all.

US vs Butler - of course, the Supreme Court considered themselves the only capable entity to determine what meets the 'national interest' question compared to a local interest.

Since a lawsuit could challenge a law that provides an entitlement under the welfare clause, it eventually would fall into the hands of the Supreme Court to determine if the Constitution allows for the particular entitlement.

Car for everyone for-free. House for everyone for-free, Health Care for-free for everyone, education for everyone for-free, anything you desire for-free.

All you have to do is stack the Supreme Court for entitlements and have enough to believe it is always for the National Good.

"I know how to get him."

Sorry Rtard, you guys had since 9/11 till now to get him and you FAILED.

The fact that you did it deliberately in order to keep pressing the fear button aint a good excuse.

If the little line o' meter thing on CNN is any indication of McCain's status in this election, he's in the bag. Since I turned it on he was consistantly lower and spent more time with overall negative rating.

Did these guys forget the question?

Closing yer eyes like a frightened child is not good state policy.

Wot you can't see can and often does hurt ya.

Obama is quite correct.

Ooh! ...a zen question!

"Wot don't you know an dhow will you learn?"

Obama: Ask my wife!

Funny stuff.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the very definition of insanity.

That simple truth alone should win Obama the election.

"It's been my honor to serve America fer MANY, MANY years."

NEITHER ANSWERED THE FUCKING QUESTION

True BB

"Did you expect anything different from CNN?"

Ahhhh the crowd rated McCain poorly so it must be because it's CNN. Except for the fact that for the first Pres debate and the VP debate the meters didn't favor either candidate and were overall positive for both candidates. This one, however, was different.

gergen seems suicidal.

Like the way these two broke out of the a stale format and turned it into a li'l bit of a real debate.

Some decent questions all in all.

/Seriously need to piss

I predict Obama gets a slight bump from this, putting him farther ahead of McCain.

Well, considering that most Americans probably don;t know what a "tiller" is, I'm not sure how well McCain connected.

Obama showed that he has what has been said to be the two most important characteristics for being president, a first class intellect and a first class temperament.

There's me, quoting Charles Krauthammer on Obama. )sorry for the visual)

Bill Bennett says McCain, "not good enough".

Other Repub = "I learned tonight that McCain wants to buy everyone a house."

The question was--would you put troops on the ground in protection of Isreal if Iran attacked Isreal or wait for UN approval

NEITHER ANSWERED THE FUCKING QUESTION

~BBob

True, but it was kind of a stupid question.

Iran will NEVER attack a nuclear Israel.

Spud believes it would be more likely fer Israel to try a false flag operation in order to make it look like they were being attacked by Iran but Iran aint got either the stones or the technology to make such a move.

They ARE crazy but there not insane.

A subtle difference but one worth noting.

Be Well.

It was a Tie--

Mccain has to do better and put more questions on Obama's character and judgment--because Obama is the pits..

ummm what is a tiller?

a tiller is someone who buys you a house.

Obama won.

McCain is a fucking Embarassment.

Given McCain ran from the audience as quickly as he he could, and given Obama is still there signing autographs, I'd say Obama won this debate.

No shit?!?!

NO DUH!

And how many died IN ONE DAY on D-Day?

Get some funkin' perspective!

Which is worse?

Which is worse the 300,000-1,000,000 civilians killed by Saddam or the _____ number of civilians killed in Iraq SINCE our involvement under W?
The second number is under the first, bet your ass on that!

OBama is a a fraud.....FACT!!!!!!

He got his ass handed to him tonoght!

FACT!

Ooh! ...a zen question!

"Wot don't you know an dhow will you learn?"

Obama: Ask my wife!

-Spud

Somewhere, Bashou is smiling.

Boring, dull, maybe even a waste of time..

This was, perhaps, McCain's last chance to knock Obama off his game. He failed to do it.

Since Obama has the momentum, all he had to do was survive, and he certainly did that.

I don't really want either guy as president, but I want Obama less. However, I'm more and more beginning to accept the fact that the Republicans nominated the wrong person.

I think Obama is going to be the next president. God help us.

tonoght?

sausage lover is here too? james give us more facts. i'm drunk from all the "my friends" and your crap really is funny. wait first i need to piss and grab a beer.

300B from McCain to help the bailout of the middle class.

He is such a maverick...

James Dean was just trying to help the sheep through that fence.

FACT!!!!

Murphy and alexandrite get it; McCain needed to change the game and he didn't.

If anything, McCain gave Obama a platform to once again prove that Obama is more attuned to our present and more likely to be effective in our future.

ww2? uhh weren't we talking about somalia and iraq d-bag?

The candidates donot answer the questions. Instead they recite their memorized scripts.

Meanwhile, AIG had a $440,000 after bailout beachparty at taxpayer expense. The $85 billion is gone and as of today they were unable to tell Congress what they have done with it.

Ha, Ha, Ha, there's nothing you can do about it, its all perfectly legal, any Judge can see that.

I think Obama is going to be the next president. God help us.

James Chapter 1 versus 13 and 14.

Cjk85 and Alexandrite,
You guys won't answer my questions, won't face the tough questions, but just wanna keep quizzin' me.

Sorry, it doesn't work that way.
And it's interesting how quickly you dismiss civilian loss of life of foreigners in favor of American troops, Alexandrite.

The undecidedes are the key..

Everytime one of them didn't answer the question or avoided the question told me that the american people will not like the answer.

What is sad about that is it clearly shows they are not interested in what the people want.

Not one of them could answer what the 700 billion would do to help the economy. It was nothing but a give our money away with no accountability.

Both of them should be ashamed.

kirk you changed it to include ww2. your questions were answered. about 2500 gi's died on d day. there you go. do you want to change the goalposts again?

Where's McCain's VP nominee?

Murphy-
What did you want McCain to hit that he didn't, and why do you think he didn't?

I wish Obama had gone for the knockout, the home run, painted his adversary as the unstable, senile warhawk he is. Obama should have come out as the antithesis of war, but instead elected to match the geezer's saber rattling. If you're this far ahead on points, the name of the game surely is not to blow it.

Obama could have said, when McSame spoke of greed and corruption on Wall Street, "you, sir, represent the party of greed and corruption." At least Obama said to rest the notion that he's a radical. He's another wimpy centrist; unfortunately that may be the best our country can ever do. herm

First results from polling Independents is starting to come in:

Thirty-nine percent of the 400 uncommitted voters surveyed identified Barack Obama as tonight's winner; 27 percent said John McCain won, while 35 percent saw the debate as a draw.

After the debate, 68 percent of uncommitted voters said that they think Obama will make the right decisions on the economy, compared to 54 percent who said that before the debate. Fewer thought McCain would do so 49 percent after the debate, and 41 percent before.

Before the debate, 60 percent thought Obama understands voters' needs and problems; that rose to 80 percent after the debate. For McCain, 35 percent felt he understands voters' needs before the debate, and 46 percent thought so afterwards.

There is some good news for McCain, who still dominates Obama when it comes to perceptions of readiness to be president. Before the debate, 42 percent thought Obama was prepared for the job, and that percentage rose to 57 percent after the debate. But 80 percent felt McCain was prepared for the job before the debate, and 84 percent thought so afterwards.

Herm,

The last "centrist" managed this country remarkably well, blowjob and all.

I'll take a centrist over a leftist any day of the week.

contrary to some people's opinion, I think Barry hit a homer tonight.

"That One," McCain Calls Obama In Debate (VIDEO)

"During a discussion about energy, McCain punctuates a contrast with Obama by referring to him as "that one," while once again not looking in his opponent's direction (merely jabbing a finger across his chest). That's not going to win McCain any Miss Congeniality points. Nor will it reassure any voters who believe McCain is improperly trying to capitalize on Obama's "otherness."

Herm-
I'm sure if you were a candidate you would always lose, but be righteously indignant and superior to the very end; safe in the knowledge that you alone were just, and that the rubes just couldn't see it - so fuck them.

I think Barry hit a homer tonight.

I agree.

The fact checking has begun. So far, Obama's ahead and McCain's getting beaten up:

Sorry I'm not getting to your dumbass deflection from 200 posts ago in time.

Our troops are more important. Sorry.

Cjk85,

Who's REALLY the dbag, *you* who won't answer questions and resorts to name-calling

Or me, who answers questions and TRIES to have an intelligent discussion based on history re: American lives, civilian lives and liberal cowardice/thin-skinned overreaction?

Yes, what the world needs is more radicals and fundies.

Anyone in between that might might actually be able to get elected in this country, like Bubba, or Obama, are castigated for their centrism while they are busy advancing progressive policy.

Radicals just end up on the sidelines, or more like, stabbing the centrist on the back, as they did with Hillary and already begin to do with Obama.

'Zactly!

*you* who won't answer questions and resorts to name-calling

and liberal cowardice/thin-skinned overreaction

The self retorting post makes a nice bookend to your silly little deflection started over an hour ago. You know, while McCain was busy getting his ass whipped.

Your boy lost. Deal with it.

Two big issues from McCain on domestic issues:

1. He proposed the government buy up bad mortgages to halt foreclosures.

I'd love to hear from those of you who have been calling Obama a socialist on how you feel about that.

2. We won't be able to provide the same social security benefits to future retirees as we do now.

McCain also said he knows how to fix the problem but didn't bother to make an attempt to do so while he had a President from his own party in office and Republican majorities in both houses of Congress. Someone care to explain why? Did McCain only realize SS had a problem after the Democrats won Congress?

there's nothing intelligent about your "conversation". again i did answer your question, even when you change it. yes your a d-bag.

Hotsauce- the less specifics McCain uses on SS the better he'll do.

This guy wanted to privatize SS into the stock market and thought the fundamentals of the economy were strong, like 2 days before the housing crash.

Those SS funds in the stock market would be worthless right now.

Anybody seen McCain's VP nominee tonight?

Fact: Obama gave, pretty much, a stump speech.
Fact: McCain did the same.
Fact: Obama's riff on health care and Pakistan/OBL was dead on passionate and connected.
Fact: McCain was at his best when he avoided delivering moonbat meat to the Hannity/Palin home of mental invalids, and instead sounded like the McCain of old.
Fact: Too late McCain. Iraq, Bush, Phil Gramm, your anchors are pulling.
Fact: Obama's race is still the wild card here. Lots of nice white folk who have no problem with nice black folk in the work place, church, on tv, or even over for dinner, won't vote for a liberal black dude.
Fact: Race will either lift us, or destroy us.

Classic, alexandrite

More name-calling.

Forgive me if I don't buy your pro-American life line of crap while you justify American abortions.

Take your ball and run home.

Mr Magoo tried so hard but he was a bit nervous and you could hear it when he panted into the mike...oops!

Yes, the Bomb Bomb Iran was a Zinger but McBush asked for it...so sorry old man!

I disagree with Drudge and it was not boring(except for a few moments here and there)...there was a lot substance actually...even some real breaking news..Like Obama wants that $400,000 luxury money back from AIG Execs and he wants them prosecuted that's some strong stuff!...What? Does Obama read the Drudge Retort? Cool!

That shows how informed and up to date he is with breaking news...hell, I just heard about that today!

As for MCCain throwing out that new plan for buying our Mortgages and reducing the principle...like I believe that! And is that a Plan or did he make it up on the fly?? Can't wait to see the post debate analysis on that...

That's just too "erratic" for me!

And as always I look forward to the Fact Checking Score too!

This debate was only boring to those that were waiting for that proverbial knockout punch from MCBush that never came.

And I was right...McCain could not bring himself to accuse Obama face to face of being "pals with terrorist's" showing that he had to leave that dirty work to Sarah the Lying Moose Hunter as he was not comfortable with it himself... I wonder why that is? Maybe he too has a few skeletons he doesn't want to let out of the closet too?

McCain looked like a squinty eyed Mr Magoo trying swat at something that annoyed him but he couldn't quite find out what it was.

Obama looked like, well, President Obama.

Fox vote - 86% McCain 12% Hussein.

ok kirk, obviously your feelings were hurt by being called a d-bag. the 7th grade is going to be rough for you. also you don't understand alex's response to your self retorting retort so I'll dumb it down for you. you complained about name calling and then that very thing.
what about your question wasn't answered?

Forgive me if I don't buy your pro-American life line of crap while you justify American abortions.

Oooh, a deflection on a deflection. It's getting deep in here, isn't it?

And here's rex the racist with the foxnews "poll" he's been waiting to stroke all night.

Let me get my waders on. The bullshit is rising.

What's next...the World Nut Daily text poll?

I'm actually delighted that most of you guys think Obama did so well.

The sad fact (FACT?) is that President Obama will have a mountain of bush shit to try to undo, and the disasters of eight bush years will probably still be alive in 2012. But centrist? Sure. Brush your teeth sweetheart, it'll pass.

Final numbers on the poll I previously cited:

Forty percent of the 516 uncommitted voters surveyed identified Barack Obama as tonight's winner; 26 percent said John McCain won, while 34 percent saw the debate as a draw.

Did either of them confront any issue with answers that actually surprised us?

The debates are worthless.

Anyone who still refers to Obama as "hussein" in every post may not be a racist in real life, but they play one on Drudge.

You're a joke.

I thought Obama was better than McCain at relating his answers in a manner that's effective to voters. McCain was scattered tonight, with jokes that bombed in a room where the audience was scared silent, and the "that one" gaffe where he was rude.

If you judge town halls by how well candidates connect with voters, Obama staying around for everybody to take pictures looked 100 times better than McCain leaving the millisecond it was over.

McCain failed to change the race. He brought nothing new tonight. I think that's a huge problem for him.

You just sounded like you were disappointed, even a bit surprised, herm.

Like maybe you really thought he really was really left of those he ran as really left of in the Primary.

Anyone who still refers to Obama as "hussein" in every post may not be a racist in real life, but they play one on Drudge.

No, it just means that any post given is just a waste.

McCain should have hammered Hussein on his 'judgement', not that it would sway the moonbats, but to firmly impose depth and reality of Husseins corruption on the 51% of America that isn't brainwashed and/or braindead.

yeah, I saw what happened in the stock market today... it does look like it is going to get worse before it gets better. I think Obama could have been more honest about that.

And I just paid my mortgage again too damn it! Silly me! Guess I won't be getting any principle reduction from McLame's newest and bestest Plan yet. Which sorta pisses me off!

apnews.myway.com

Obama defeated the evil republican McCain tonight.

did anyone notice that both of these candidates suck my ass??? this was the most pathetic debate with the most pathetic nominees. both struggled to answer the questions smoothly....and failed. fuck...this country is in bad shape.

How can he possibly do that when McCain has been "convicted" of Poor Judgment by his peers the Senate Ethics Committee.

Think about that for a second. Don't you think that Obama was ready for that?

if you honestly side with either one of these "candidates"..then you have not been paying attention. you are less than a pawn. our country is in the hands of dumb and dumber and we are still fighting partisan battles. when the hell are we going to demand more from the future leaders of our country and the world?!?!?!

You big dummy! You did that sober didn't you? You didn't read the drinking game rules did you?

no worries. i drank plenty beforehand. that's why i was late. i'm watching the part where the candidates explain what they will cut to help the US ecomony. after being reminded for the 5th time to abide by the time rules, both ran over by 100% and didn't answer the question in the least bit. does anyone want to admit a stalemate in partisanship and join in a non-partisanship coalition and kick all dumbshits out of washington? it may be lonely out there, but we can find replacements..won't take long.

McCain just claimed Castle GreySkull as his own.

according to the fact checkers McCain lost the lying game this time tho Obama did stretch the truth a few times hisself.

www.cbsnews.com

And I didn't get why Obama couldn't be honest about the state of the economy when asked.

I kept hearing McCain breathing funny like he was struggling to catch his breath during the debate. I was scared he was going to have a heart attack on live tv.

Once again the American populace is entertained by two "chosen" and pre-approved choices for POTUS.

They both suck as candidates, and we suck for letting the elite pick our choices, and the media con us into (once again) considering such low expectations for the office.

They are both unqualified and corporate owned.

Strike a line through democracy, and undeline the word plutocracy when defining our system of government.

"They tell me Palin was here in Naples today." - Corky

Corky, my parents went to see her yesterday, she was at the Donahue residence which is located near Gordon Pass.

When all is said and done years from now people are going to look back on tonight as a KEY moment in the election. The failure of the McCain campaign is going to be summed up in 2 words:

"THAT ONE"

Game over Righties.

I kept hearing McCain breathing funny like he was struggling to catch his breath during the debate. I was scared he was going to have a heart attack on live tv. ~ Halo3

I noticed the same thing.

McCain's temperament makes it difficult for him to play nice with people he considers idiots. I'm sure he's more comfortable when he can throw out a few "expletitives" to make his point.

I don't know if diplomacy isn't his strong suite ("THAT one") or maybe he was under too much pressure to perform. Either way, there were times when he got a little high pitched and folksy like Sarah Palin and I thought he was going to cry.

I'm sure his staff has already told him his campaign is on life support. Right now McCain just has his fingers crossed and hopes something terrible happens to Obama between now and November 4.

I find it a little sad ~ in the same way I might feel sorry for an over-the-hill boxer who stays in the ring long past his prime.

I didn't get home until close to 2 am. Went to a post debate party. Wish it had been the one at Al Gore's house Obama went to after the debate for bigwigs, but the one I went to was really fun. Quite a few music biz friends - who I'd never have guessed were Obama supporters - were there, and a throng of upbeat, happy people.

I digress...

The campus was completely fenced off. The streets were closed off to foot traffic around 6 pm. I ended up not parking at my friends house because iwas threatening rain and I hadn't brought an umbrella, so I parked at a location where we were told we could pick up a shuttle to the venue, which is what I did.

Once on the campus, one thing really neat I saw on approaching the Curb Center at Belmont University was that they'd somehow rigged lights that shined on the sidewalks with the Belmont University logo and stars. There were red, white and blue banners hung everywhere touting Belmont and the debate. Looked like you'd expect a political event of this magnitude to look. The mood was very festive.

It was cold as hell inside. I only had a light suit jacket on and kept my hands in my pockets most of the time. Why it was so cold is a real mystery. Perhaps because of all the lights. They certainly didn't warm the room though.

Among the faces I saw from my seat off to the side (the bigwigs had the center seats) were several politicians including Fred Thompson and Lindsay Graham (go figure...politicians at a debate? LOL). Graham sat next to Cindy McCain (isn't he always an elbow away from the McCains?). Celebrity sightings included John Rich from Big & Rich, and Eddie George, the former running back for the Tennessee Titans (who are an undefeated 5-0 right now!!). Everyone's necks were craning to see who arrived in the "A" seats. When Al Gore showed up he got a standing ovation. I saw George Stephanopoulos and a few other reporter types too.

I guarantee you you had a better view of the debate than I did. Only those close up experienced it like you would on TV.

Some of the audience near me were really funny. I saw one guy holding his head going "no no no" at McCain's early remark he'd have the Treasury Dept. buy up all the subprime mortgages. He was a McCain supporter and obviously didn't think that was a good move. As quiet as I'd thought debate crowds were there was a fair share of audience tittering during the debate. It looked as though there were a fair amount of students near where I sat so perhaps that explains it.

Here's a few pics I got in my email. He said he'd send a few more sometime tomorrow, but only sent a few because he was so wiped out - as I'd imagine he'd be after 2 days of 20 hour days. They're not from inside the debate as only a few photographers were inside the venue - mostly on the press stand which was behind the center sections of seating. A couple photographers took pics discreetly during the debate itself from other areas. These pics are 'behind the scenes shots' from the media area. I'll post some more if and when he sends me more.

Fun and interesting night all in all ....

Oh, and the substance of the debate itself seemed rather tame. I really miss Tim Russert's probative style. Tom Brokaw picked not unexpected questions. The bit at the end where the two candidates got in the way of Brokaw's teleprompter was funny and got a hearty laugh from the crowd.

Off to bed....

My experience was very similar to AU's, though I didn't find the room cold. The groups I was seated with were, sadly, staunch McCain supporters. At least at the beginning of the debate.

Unlike AU, I didn't bring a camera, so I've no pics to share (unfortunate, as I'd have had quite a few good ones from the after party).

A few observations and something I found amusing towards the end...

If you thought McCain looked tired and none-too-healthy on television, the impression was at least twice as bad in person.

During the "bomb bomb bomb Iran" thing, I heard at least 2 "oh crap!"s in my section.

Near the end, one of the end of the debate, one of the hardcore McCain supporters seated next to me leaned over (we'd spoken a bit before the debate began and she knew I was an Obama supporter.) and said "Well, you won this one. Hopefully we'll choose better in 2012."

...as much as I like to mess with you libs (due to the fact that there are more libs on this site than not), I must admit that I didn't want to hear the term "my friends" one more time. Not as bad as FrankF's attempts at humor....but, still grating.

"my friends"

Definitely a good candidate for a drinking game cue during the last debate.

I have to admit, by the way, that I was possibly the only person who DIDN'T cringe with McCain's "that one" comment.

What I DID cringe about most was when he interrupted to ask "Did we hear anything about the fine?"

Uhhh...Johnny-boy? You're REALLY not funny.

REV

I'm still up buzzing with adrenaline.

I may have had a vent blowing on me, because it seemed pretty cold in there.

The spontaneous sounds coming from around me were funny as hell. Having never been to a presidential debate before I always thought the audience was really quiet. Guess it's the way they mic the room.

I don't know how long you stayed in the hall, but one thing I noticed after it was all over was that Barack and Michelle Obama stuck around a long time shaking hands and taking pictures. I wanted to dash down there and shake his hand, but the thought of the Secret Service brraking my arms didn't appeal to me LOL

Tim's dead, son.

Brokaw looks like he wears a rug.

Interesting to see some of the DR regulars were there.

Obama won the debate.

McCain came off tired and old. He needed a home run or major flub from Obama and he did not get it.

ZATOICHi

I just watched a rerun of the debate on C-SPAN. You're right, Brokaw looks like he's wearing a rug, but only if you look closely at the right side where the hair doesn't seem to grow out of his head. Never noticed that before.

Ya, Tim's dead. Bummer. He really got candidates to answer questions. Brokaw couldn't carry his briefcase in that department.

Interesting to see some of the DR regulars were there.

I definitely enjoyed hearing RevDarko and AU's take on the debate. Also enjoyed the pics. Look forward to seeing a few more, AU.

"Never noticed that before."

He looks old, too.

I'm watching Washington Journal on C-SPAN. They take calls from people, many of whom sound just as crazy as the right wing Rushbots here at DR.

It's absolutely fucking amazing how many callers go to that "Rev. Wright" "Ayers" crap. Jeebus H folks, turn the radio dial. There's a lot more on the radio than the morons who try to make connections that aren't there.

Of course, they'd NEVER mention Sarah Palin's husband was a member of the secessionist Alaskan Independence Party - who's founder HATED the U.S. and even insisted in his will that he be buried in Canada. Or that the good governor herself was 'delighted' to welcome the AIP convention attendees. Now THERE'S a direct connection to an 'Anti-American' organization who's founder blew himself up testing explosives for a bomb.

The right wing are dangerously idiots.

AU,

It may be that you were under a vent, and it may be that I've lived in some very cold places, so I acclimate to it very quickly.

It may also have been the sections we were in. I was fairly close (press passes ROCK!), so I was closer to the lights. Mind you, I wasn't in the lower bowl, as they say, but it still had some warmth.

I notice Briwo was on the lookout for me. My guess is he didn't see me, as, like I said, I was in the press section and the media doesn't tend to focus on itself until AFTER the debate.

I was, unfortunately, nearly ejected at one point. As Briwo figured, I was wearing sunglasses. Security wasn't fond of that (I can't figure out what their problem is with it) and had me remove them upon entering. I put them back on when I sat down and was asked to remove them again. about 10 minutes later, I had to put them back on and security came back and informed me that I had to remove them and if I put them back on, I'd have to leave.

So I was in quite a bit of pain throughout much of the debate. What I suffer to bring my listeners information...

Did the Secret Service nickname you "Rev Harvey Oswald"?

....you should have went for the handshake AU. A "don't taze me, bro'" moment would have made you even more famous.

Americanunity-
In some places (many to most) outside metropolitan areas, there are no choices on talk radio. Where I live I can choose between Neal Boortz or weather/sports/automotive advice, Limbaugh or "Dr. Laura", and then Hannity or that guy who was once almost funny on SNL.
In light of that, I really wanted McCain to bring up the "air-raiding villages and killing civilians" bullshit. And I know why he didn't: Obama would have kicked his ass ten ways and through next week.

REV

I wasn't near the lights. I have a feeling they turned the air conditioning up so it wouldn't get uncomfortable on stage. TV sets get really hot if you don't. Letterman keeps his studio at 60 degrees or colder. I wouldn't say it was quite that cold where I sat, but it wasn't warm at all.

It was a neat experience nonetheless.

There were several hundred reporters who'd have given their eye teeth to sit inside the debate. Did you see the sea of satellite trucks on the soccer field? It looked like a rock concert for trucks.

Rev Harvey Oswald.

I like it.

Nah, they weren't rude or anything, but a few of them knew me by the end of the night.

And yes, the trucks and the crowds and the road blockages were bloody INSANE! Fortunately, I only live about a mile from Belmont, so the walk (even in the pissing rain) wasn't bad.

RIDE

LOL !!

Na, I wouldn't risk an encounter with the Secret Service. I've been handshake close to a couple of sitting presidents in my time, and those SS guys aren't kidders. The stuff they do behind the scenes is pretty incredible. i guarantee you there were 50 SS in the house. Sharpshooters, sitting in the audience incognito, dressed as students, you name it.

I'm sure every one of those sitting on the stage had had their backgrounds thoroughly checked out before they were approved. They've done that for me even when I was around ex-presidents like GHW Bush and Carter.

REV

Did you buy any 'Debate Goodies' like T-shirts, buttons, et al?

I took a shuttle bus and so never got near any of the vendors. I'd love to score a t-shirt minimum. Sure they'll be plenty around since it rained on the street party's parade.

I didn't, AU, though I'm sure we can both grab some later, considering the rain. After the debate, I had to head back and get my car to drive to Belle Meade.

Nah, they weren't rude or anything, but a few of them knew me by the end of the night.

REV

That may not be a good thing LOL

I told RIDE ON about the FBI file I may or may not have gotten many years ago as a 'mob entertainer' when I got booked on a piano gig that turned out to be a huge mob gathering (I didn't have a clue until I showed up). Went out for a smoke during a break, and spotted the powder blue Plymouth Fury with two Fibbies armed with auto-advance cameras taking 100000 shots a minute. LOL

Possibly they didn't catch my name. I'm sure someone in their Washington headquarters asked who I was while they poured over the photos identifying "Blackjack", "Little Vito" and all the other 2nd generation mafia gathered in circles of 5 or 6 when I went out to have that smoke.

What concerned me though was that the son of one of the most powerful mob bosses of that era hooked his arm around my neck as he said, "you're pretty fuckin' good, kid" - making the FBI think I was a 'made guy'. LOL

McCain v. Obama
Stewball v. Secretariat

With my blond hair, the FBI may have thought I was adopted like Tom in the Godfather

AU,

You're right. Might not be such a good thing, but I'm clear. I've some well placed friends, so they may have known me already.

Well, REV

We had a good time tonight.

If you get a lot of static and frequent bursts of noise on your radio at home.....

You have a scratched cornea or something? I did that once in the Badlands in SD. Every once in awhile it gets irritated and I have to wear shades everywhere at all hours until it lets up. Not so bad in recent years though.

Well, I'm yawning every 30 seconds. Better hit the hay. Nite y'all.

One final thought that just hit me:

I'm not sure McCain's mention of Teddy Roosevelt as 'my hero' after he'd already refereed to Reagan as 'my hero' was a good move.

People might think he actually knew one of the faces on Mount Rushmore. Only adds to the 'he knew Moses' rumors.....

No, AU. My eyes are just REALLY light sensetive. You should remember that from the Flying Saucer. I had to wear them the whole time there, too.

"I'm not sure McCain's mention of Teddy Roosevelt as 'my hero' after he'd already refereed to Reagan as 'my hero' was a good move."

His hero would have long since enforced the Sherman Anti-Trust act and the banks that are "too big to fail" would not now be "too big."
Personally, I think that "deregulator" McCain has a lot of gall to even make such a ridiculous claim. The claim that Ronnie Raygun, who began our economy's descent into melt down is a more likely hero for him.

REV

Since you wear shades all the time you could always get a gig AS a Secret Service member

(I'm still too jazzed to sleep. Might have been all that coffee I drank til 2 am No 'Bolivian Marching Powder' involved LOL)

I told RIDE ON about the FBI file I may or may not have gotten many years ago as a 'mob entertainer' when I got booked on a piano gig that turned out to be a huge mob gathering (I didn't have a clue until I showed up).

AU, are you still sticking with that "didn't have a clue" story. Come on, they aren't monitoring your DR posts. Besides, Toco is in jail....they got the one they wanted. I know he's in jail, I lived 5 houses up the street from senior years ago.

I couldn't help myself. I went a looked at the comments about the debate on Foxnews.com. What a bunch of nuts. Almost all said McCain ran away with the debate. Way too many stated somehow that Obama was a Muslim. Is this the last of the base?

another lie from obama about the additional 4 billion in cuts to oil companies which was fact checked after the last one. guess he missed the factcheck lady on his OWN NETWORK known as cnn

and he used the term 'muddled' through afganistan about coming from mccain.

again.....proven false from factcheck after the first debate

health care

mccain NAILED IT...............obama STARTED AND ENDED with the government being the starting and ending point
and when barry said "PREVENTION" ...that was a code word for socialized medicine meaning that if you dont do something first, then you might not be covered........more nanny government

and this database they both talked about.....isnt that a invasion of a person's privates.........( a little joke there but maybe you get the point)....

and so the GOVERNMENT WILL KNOW EVEN MORE ABOUT YOU>............

This election is so over. Yawn. Another 27 days to get through and it's virtually certain that Obama will only pull further ahead.

The electoral college math shows that, unless something really, really significant happens, the lowest number of votes Obama could possibly get is 273. This assumes that McCain wins OH, FL, MO, NV, NC and IN and Obama leads in all of them. For McCain to win he'd have to add Colorado, Virginia or New Mexico to that list and Obama has very big leads in all of these. Anywhere else would be like Obama winning Utah. Not going to happen.

AND after the debate the big poll from cnn had barry ahead by a good margin

WELL GUESS WHAT..........they even admitted it even if it was said QUICKLY and almost quietly.

they polled MORE DEMS THAN THEY DID republicans.
AGAIN>.........and we are supposed to think that its all over..........

I DONT THINK SO.....

with all of the above two posts being said

did anyone else get about halfway into and SCREAM OUT LOUD LIKE I DID

SAY SOMETHING ELSE>...........we HAVE ALL HEARD ALL THAT BEFORE>..............

RIDE

I didn't know it was the mob when I got there. I sure found out once I got inside and discovered a hit man was going to stand at the piano all night and guard the way. Never seen such cold eyes in my entire life.

BL2

ALL the polls (except the DrudgeReport funky dunky poll) had Obama 'winning' the debate.

Man, I'm so sorry McCain can't do better than he is. The 'undecideds' KNOW who McCain is and would already be in his corner if they really wanted to vote for him. The more they see Obama the more they like him.

Sorry

"and when barry said "PREVENTION" ...that was a code word for socialized medicine"

Anyone who's ever served on a health committee will recognize what that word actually means:

Cost savings.

Prevention is MUCH cheaper than cure.

DANFORTH

"PREVENTION" is a 3 syllable word. Anything beyond more than one or two, like "Wright" or "Ayers" makes their brains short out.

Oh, and I can't count the number of times I've seen these right wing nuts spell Wright's name "Write" or Ayers "Ayres".

d"PREVENTION" ...was a code word for socialized medicine#509 | Posted by bushlovertwo at 2008-10-08 11:11 AM

When you shatter the secrets of hidden codes, do you use the Captain Midnight decoder ring or the Little Orphan Annie decoder badge?

You can confide in me. I promise not to tell.

"When you shatter the secrets of hidden codes,..."

Took me a while, Docster, but I finally decrypted that "investment" means taxes and government spending.

"...do you use the Captain Midnight decoder ring or the Little Orphan Annie decoder badge?"

I didn't have one. Might've decoded the above sooner if I did. Tell me "Doc," you're a PHD, a professional student, which one has worked best for you?

"Took me a while, Docster, but I finally decrypted that "investment" means taxes and government spending."

That took you a while?

Prevention is MUCH cheaper than cure.

and I DONT give a rats ass shit about the little comments after your post because I know that prevention means GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION......

for instance..........well we wont treat you for cancer if you keep smoking for instance and sure.........it might not be good for you........but it is yet another time of government into EVERY ASPECT OF your life.......

or how about.........well we see here from YOUR DATA IN OUR GOVERNMENT DATA BASE That you had a cheeseburger this week......sorry but that will keep us from looking at you..........

hey.........DONT Think shit like that COULDNT happen from the government of a european socialist..........

"because I know that prevention means GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION"

What...you can't eat a salad without Big Brother telling you what dressing you can have?

"for instance..........well we wont treat you for cancer if you keep smoking" "we see here from YOUR DATA IN OUR GOVERNMENT DATA BASE That you had a cheeseburger this week"

BL2 is obviously manning the strawman booth this morning.

"That took you a while?"

Yeah...I don't have a PHD and a decoder ring like ol' Doc has.

and so the GOVERNMENT WILL KNOW EVEN MORE ABOUT YOU>............

Are you still "clinging" desperately to BushWorld? How sad that must be for you!

And BL2 do you have something to hide? Are you a terrorist? What happened to "if you have nothing to hide" it should be no problem if government wire taps and and intrudes into your life by knowing ALL about you?

You Bushies are so hypocritical.

oh and btw- Obama kicked Mr Magoo's squinty eyed ass all over that stage...

"Bomb, bomb, bomb... bomb, bomb Iran!"

no dan.....I just dont want more government which is what obama is all about

and now i am going to have a greesy burger and a beer before some G man from the obama campaign tells me I cant have one.

"I just dont want more government which is what obama is all about"

Where the hell have you been for the last 8 years? Bush grew the government more than Clinton ever dreamed.

DANFORTH

Speaking as a professional producer/musician/conductor I think BL2's problem is a combination of blowing the trumpet too hard, having to teach junior high school band, and too much booze.

I think BL2's problem is a combination of blowing the trumpet too hard

He tries to compensate by sucking just as much as he blows. Got him an honorary membership in the Jockey club.

DONT Think shit like that COULDNT happen from the government of a european socialist..........

#519 | Posted by bushlovertwo

Well, since those European Socialist countries have had national healthcare for years and they're not doing that, I would say your fears are groundless.

Hey BLT, I can understand your desire for government to get the hell out of peoples' lives, even if I don't agree with it in some cases. But if that is the case, why do you support W, a president who has done more to invade the lives of US citizens? Illegal wiretaps of private phone lines? A partisan DoJ? The Patriot Act?

Any of this ringing a bell?

AU, don't worry, your secret is safe with me. "Mr FBI man I swear AU didn't know Mr Toco before he was the entertainment at that big exclusive mob bash. I SWEAR........psst, I don't know who this AU guy is either. Now may I go?"

more from factcheck.com from debate

obama said that bush and mccain were linked on deregulations that caused some of this

fact..........mccain supported tighter regs and rules and accountability on mae and mac and it WAS VOTED DOWN RIGHT DOWN PARTY LINES...........

so there was a bill to strengthen regs on those two and OBAMA VOTED NO>............

and in fact........the dereg bill was supported to by ROBERT RUBIN>.........a deep obama economic advisor who IF we talk about we are called on using hate speech

obama said that he was going to save more than spend

fact.........factcheck says that is impossible with what he has said he wanted to do

and now from the other side........(fair and balanced)..

mcain talks about the 95 times that barry has voted to raise or not lower taxes and that has shown to not be completely true and I wish that mccain would get off of that because he sounds too much like the phoney poltico when he does...........

HOWEVER..........lets have this same kind of check when barry hussien tells us all about mccains voting record too because factcheck has come out with misstatements on that side as well

and that projector mccain talked about was of course to study astronomy which isnt a bad thing but that does sound a little pricey..........
