I, for one, am getting tired of the race card being played at the slightest criticism of Obama. Is he above criticism because he is black? That makes no sense whatsoever.

Many blacks will outright tell you they are voting for Obama BECAUSE he is black. Is that racist? If whites said they were voting for McCain because he was white, the outrage of "racism" would be enormous.

I truly believe that those who would vote for the Republican ticket or the Democratic ticket are doing so because of their difference in views. If you look at polls from the last presidential election, the percentages are basically the same.

Had it been John McCain with this association, the press would have hounded him out of the campaign, and it's doubtful that Mr. Daniel would have noticed any tinge of an age discrimination or any other subtext

I think there's an undeniable racial subtext in portraying a black U.S. senator nominated by a major party as if he were an anti-American outsider hostile to "our" values. Palin's gone straight into the gutter this week and I'm glad that this AP analyst called them on it.

I think that if any candidate is associated with an alleged terrorist the Republicans are going to jump on it, regardless of whether they are black. Ayers was associated with one kind of terrorist but there are other types. I've seen no video/audio recordings of Christopher Columbus. I've seen pictures/paintings of him, read about him in books, but beyond all that - I've no real proof that he ever existed. I mean, books and such are just other people saying he existed and the things he did, well it's just heresay. Even if they say there is collaborating statements by different people - doesn't mean its the truth.

I guess I could find people spoken of further back in history. No proof, just people claiming they existed and suggested stories about what they did. We'll never know if its the truth. There's no available proof, unless your willing to accept what people wrote down hundreds of years ago as proof.

I would suspect that the average age for Fortune 500 CEOs is in the upper 50s to mid 60s. That's means they were born around 1940-1950. Marshall and Thomas are merely two of 106 Supreme Court Justices. That's less than 2%. If anything, their prominence underscores how truly exceptional they are.

I agree that the entertainment industry is one area in which doors have been open to African-Americans. I can only speculate as to why. Perhaps it is because Hollywood tends to be significantly more progressive than the rest of America? Or perhaps it is because the entertainment industry is one arena in which talent is evaluated less subjectively than in others.

One aspect of the entertainment industry that has always bothered me, and perhaps others have noticed it-- there are rarely integrated sitcoms in America. Family Matters was a "black family." The Cosby Show was also a "black family." George Lopez was a "Latino family." Until the 10th season of Friends, no black person had appeared on the show. Cheers and Frasier had no black cast members. Naturally, exceptions can be found; Roseanne had guests stars of different races. TV Networks know that Americans are uncomfortable with mixed race families and interracial friendships.

Sorry 101, but one of the contributing factors in black susceptibility to HIV/AIDS is genetic, so that the contribution of promiscuity is not determinable from currently available data.
That's got everything to do with being raised by the streets or grandma (as opposed to mom and dad) and nothing to do with whitey.

The disintegration of the black family is attributable to a multitude of factors including political exploitation of blacks through the provision of bread and circuses in the form of welfare programs that have removed the compulsion to work for survival which would provide for dependency on and provide a functiona and value for the family unit. Instead the state was substituted as the default provider of sustenance for much of the black community. The black man was relegated to the role of superfluous person.

Another factor may be the transformation of our society into one requiring abilities that blacks were not able to acquire across the spectrum to the same extent statistically, as other groups. The negative effect of this lack of skill sets was compounded by the massive influx of illegal aliens, who were motivated to do work formerly available to unskilled and semi-skilled people. The result compounded the exclusion of blacks from viable employment opportunities that would have enabled them to retain a basis for family unity.

Stay out of prison, stay in school, and keep your dick in your pants and watch all of the wonderful things that happen. Or continue on the path you are and have people like me claim "I told you so".

Shucks, did he lose Hillary's primary campaign? Or wasn't he involved? That would make him 2 to 1, so that Carville's strategies may not represent a correct evaluation and inevitable conclusion, although adverse circumstances can override the ability to change invested in intellecutal prowess.

Indeed, Carville may be correct. But the important conclusion would be that Obama lose regardless of the reason. Add a dash or racism, or whatever, to the mix so that Obama is prevented from being President.

Whites might have all the power, wealth, and opportunity in America, but at least blacks get most of the musical talent and athletic ability. We now see Gov. Sarah Palin and the McCain campaign trying to stir the pot by invoking William Ayers, a 1960s radical who was a major figure in the Weather Underground, a group that bombed the Pentagon and committed other unspeakable acts of terrorism against their own country.

Palin has been hammering home the point on the campaign trail that Obama and Ayers were friends, "palling around" the Windy City, even though the Weather Underground committed these crimes when Obama was just a child. And never mind the fact that Ayers and Obama were involved in a multimillion-dollar education grant that was funded by a right-wing Republican, media magnate Walter Annenberg. Do you hear any of them castigating this late Republican pillar?

The McCain camp, along with their right-wing media comrades, want to convince you that Obama should not have decided to serve with Ayers, who was named the Citizen of the Year in Chicago in 1987 for his education work, and who is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Now, if someone was seen as an acceptable figure by business, political and education figures, many of whom support both Democrats and Republicans, should Obama be faulted for sitting on a board with the guy?
