When I got there, about 20 minutes early, the line of sign wavers stretched the full length of the library grounds, along the edge of the road, 6 or 7 people deep! I could hardly find a place to park. I nabbed one of the last spots in the library lot, and as I got out of the car and started walking, people seemed to join in from every direction, carrying signs.

Never, have I seen anything like it in my 17 and a half years living in Anchorage. The organizers had someone walk the rally with a counter, and they clicked off well over 1400 people (not including the 90 counter-demonstrators). This was the biggest political rally ever, in the history of the state. I was absolutely stunned. The second most amazing thing is how many people honked and gave the thumbs up as they drove by. And even those that didn't honk looked wide-eyed and awe-struck at the huge crowd that was growing by the minute.This just doesn't happen here.

Then, the infamous Eddie Burke showed up. He tried to talk to the media, and was instantly surrounded by a group of 20 people who started shouting O-BA-MA so loud he couldn't be heard.Then passing cars started honking in a rhythmic pattern of 3, like the Obama chant, while the crowd cheered, hooted and waved their signs high.

1) Reduced the world nuke arsenal while working with Sen Lugar, admittedly one of the easier Republicans to work with.

2) Succeeded in efforts of welfare reform, health care expansion, ethics reform while working with Wisconsin's Russ Feingold, in short, issues that matter to voters.

3) Exhibits rational forethought and calm in the midst of crisis, such as his call on the Iraq war (whether you agree or not is irrelevent, the point is, history, the nation and the world believe him right).

4) And here's one I hear frequently discounted - He leads. Whether you think he's the anti-christ or not, he sure gets the crowds going. I've seen it firsthand, so don't try any of that "free beer" BS. Even Hillary had to cordon off the crowds at her stop in my town, to keep them together for "crowd shots". Obama had to move his to a bigger venue, and it was a pretty diverse crowd. Despite the Limbaugh set, a LOT of Republicans are voting blue this year, not just because McCain is a twit, but because they actually trust Obama. Even if he does turn out to be Satan, that's a nice change of pace from what we've been having for the past gazillion years. It's been a long time since we've had someone who makes the majority of us feel good about America's government.

Really though, I think you are looking at this the wrong way. Obama could be Bill the freaking Cat and AMerica would vote for him, because at the end of the day, it is just too obvious to most folks that the McCain ticket is just asking for it all to come crashing down. There was a big anti-Obama thing hanging on a refrigerator at work the other day. Someone actually printed it up, brought it in to work, and hung it up where they knew a lot of people would see it. All it was is a picture of him with no lapel pin and he commiting the high crime of facing a flag without his hand over his heart. There was a ton of bullshit accusations like this all over it. I wnet and got a big red marker and in front of about 30 people wrote "ALSO, HAVE YOU NOTICED THAT HE'S A BIG BLACK NIGGER!!!" across it. Watch any of the Nazi propaganda movies (Leni Riefenstahl is a perfect example) and you'll see what Germans saw daily. They were desperate for a leader, and Hitler gave them what they wanted to hear.

The lowest 'cell' Hitler controlled was the family. It was easy. Young boys and girls (all of them) attended Hitlerjugend and Bund Deutscher Maedel, which were associations for teenagers, where they could meet in their spare time. For example, they made trips together and did sports and whatever. And they learned the propaganda from very young age.

So, when they came home, they were happy (hell, Hitler gave them a great time and adventures and so on), and they liked Hitler. Their parents couldn't talk openly about their doubts - the kids would have run straight to their 'leaders'.. In fact, they got a reward, if they ratted out their parents! And many kids did, never knowing that they brought their parents in danger.

So, this problem was solved. But what if adults met, without kids? There were 'Blockwaerte' for that, people who had once been hated and shunned by the others and now suddenly got power over let's say 100 people - they were able to call the police and report 'suspicious' behaviour. Can you imagine which parts revenge and mistrust played in this game?

Bill Ayers opposed the Vietnames war becase it was against communists. He is a self-declared communist as is Davis, Obama's surrogate father.

Ayers was a founder of the Weathermen. Here's a statement from that group.

Obama widens lead in national poll

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll out Monday afternoon suggests that the country's financial crisis, record low approval ratings for President Bush and a drop in the public's perception of McCain's running mate could be contributing to Obama's gains.

Fifty-three percent of likely voters questioned in the poll say they are backing Obama for president, with 45 percent supporting McCain.
