Looks like the long-friendly relationship between John McCain and David Letterman is on the skids. The late-night comedian was none too pleased that the Republican presidential nominee bailed on an appearance Wednesday on the Late Show so he could return to Washington to deal with the economic crisis, particularly since he found time to give an interview to CBS News anchor Katie Couric along the way.

David Letterman thinks the world revolves around him and his stupid show. He doesn't care about an economic meltdown except as another punchline. David Letterman means about as much to this country as a skid row bum.

Looks like an honesty and integrity issue there Senator McBush! You got caught lying to Dave Letterman - shame on you.

"He doesn't care about an economic meltdown"

Economic meltdown?
What "economic meltdown"?
The fundamentals are fine.
That's the little people.
Y'know, the ones that trollop friend of mine Lady Rothschild calls "rednecks."
Oh, wait a sec.
We need a 9/11 commission.
Frankly, my friends, I don't have a clue.
I think I'll suspend my campaign.
Take a nap or something.
But no Larry King, he's too tough.
No David Letterman.
No more questions.
Ever.
~John "Cackle-Cackle" McCain

Much like Obama, it appears Letterman can't think on his feet when his schedule gets fucked up.

McCain could leave Washington, take a three hour flight to Oxford and still have time for dinner before the debate. His age is starting to show if he can't do this much.

No body lies to Letterman! Of course unless it's Obama.

Did Obama chicken out of an appearance on Letterman?
Oh, no, that was John "Cluck-Cluck" McCain.
Big suspension of the campaign by the way.
He's giving a speech in NYC this morning.
I guess the flights to that emergency in DC were sold out.
LOL

Who gives a shit, let's see, do an interview with a crappy MSM anchor, or a crappy late show host. He picked the lesser of two evils. Yeah, what a cozy relationship, and what a coincidence, Olbermann happened to be there. If he would have showed up, Dems would have ripped him for doing a talk show while the economy is failing.

Much like Obama, it appears Letterman can't think on his feet when his schedule gets fucked up.

Pucked up by McCain butt-boy WISGOD

Much like a majority of thinking respectful people Letterman doesn't like to be lied to. McCain dised him over Katie "Take it easy on the old guy" Couric.

McCain chickens out of the debate and morons think he is just concerned about the bailout. Naive to say the least.

Letterman should have asked George Obama to fill in as guest for McCain. He could have told the world how great and generous his half brother is.

Sarah Palin has suspended her campaign too. She is going back to Alaska to look at Russia and Club baby Seals.

It's about time mccain gets hit for being such a loser.

Great post, hope everyone gets to see this, it clearly shows the stupidity of mccain and how he will honor his commitments.

If you go on late night talk shows over and over and get the benefit of it then you have to be ready for the negatives of it when you make a fool of yourself.
McCain campaign seems to be imploding!
Won't be long now before McBomb explodes.

To describe John McCan as a "loose cannon" is an insult to artillery.

I'm okay, my friends, A-OK, nothing to worry about.
Just leaving the campaign trail for a few days' worth of much needed treatment.
Some Botox, mortician's wax, Rotorootering, and electroshock therapy and I'll be as good as new.
So long, farewell, aufwiedersehn, aloha, until we meet in Strawberry Fields.
~John "Qeeg" McCain

The old man is throwing the dice, hoping for a payoff, as he shrewdly did with Palin. Not sure he'll get the results he hopes for in this one: he's just proving he can't do 2 things at once, and lying as he's doing it, since he was with Couric.

How can you be in two places at once, when you're not anywhere at aaaaaaaallll?

Letterman did hit the hammer right on the head.

You don't stop the campaign, you put in the running mate, second string, but yet there is no confidence even within the mccain camp to do just that. Talk about putting up a losing team of inexperience right out the gate.

mccain threw a bomb on the bridge before he got across.

The best line was when they showed the shot of McCain in make up and Letterman shouts "Hey John, you need a ride to the airport?"

That's what set Letterman off. Not that McCain canceled, but that when he canceled he said he was leaving IMMEDIATELY for DC, and then stuck around NYC for another day.

Why did McCain lie? And why did he call a press conference, say he's leaping into action, and then do nothing?

Mccain has just done the impossible-he's making Bush look competent. And I guess saint sarah is suspending her campaign because she's just one heartbeat from the Arizona senate seat and has to be there to vote in his stead.

Shows how desperate he is and how useless she is.

Why did McCain lie? And why did he call a press conference, say he's leaping into action, and then do nothing?

Reminds me of my pet goat....

That may be the case but i have a feeling that most open minded Americans will see it as an attempt to fix a problem not just throw words at it. Furthermore it does show a certain leadership quality that contrasts obamas lack of anything resembling.

Damn that was meant to answer this
"he's just proving he can't do 2 things at once,"

Damn that was meant to answer this
"he's just proving he can't do 2 things at once,"

LOL!!!

It must run in the party.

Wouldn't it be something with delayed debates if McCain cleaned Obama's clock when the viewership is probably going to be huge. I'm not sure McCain is a good debater, but I'm also not sure non teleprompted uh uh uh uh uh Obama is either. But, if McCain did clean his clock and it swung the election wouldn't that be something.

Just saying...that's all.

Obama doesn't need to debate with shit like this, mccain will have to do a couple of weeks of damage control to get through this because letterman isn't going to let up.

"As of this moment I am postponing my campaign in order to address the financial emergency that exists in America, oh, well, except for my interview with Katie Cutie and my speech in New York, but after that I will definitely be on my way to Washington, with maybe a stopover in Phoenix or at one or more of my seven houses to pick up some clothes....."

John McCrash

"David Letterman thinks the world revolves around him and his stupid show. He doesn't care about an economic meltdown except as another punchline. "

FW, what does the economic crisis have to do with this? McCain didn't go back to Washington to work on it. Instead of fulfilling his commitment to go on Letterman he decided he got a better offer from Couric.

Basically McCain treated Letterman like he treated his wife after he met the Paris Hilton of Arizona.

Wouldn't it be something with delayed debates if McCain cleaned Obama's clock when the viewership is probably going to be huge. I'm not sure McCain is a good debater, but I'm also not sure non teleprompted uh uh uh uh uh Obama is either. Boy, you just love to speculate on the what ifs, don't you. Mr. 894 out of 899 won't stand a chance with someone who actually has some smarts.

McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate
Posted: 10:44 AM ET

From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash

Biden and Palin are set to debate October 2.
(CNN) McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

The plot thickens....

Thank you Scrumplet! Very FF

i have a feeling that most open minded Americans will see it as an attempt to fix a problem not just throw words at it.

Not even Cindi is buying this hoax. John and caribou barbie have nothing to say, so they're running from the debates.

Rove said the first one is the most important, which is why Mcsame is cutting and running.
Apparently it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

"will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout."

Does that mean if no deal is ever struck, McCain is through campaigning?

Does that mean if no deal is ever struck, McCain is through campaigning?

It'd give him an excuse for losing, wouldn't it?

I still haven't seen an explanation from McCain as to why he doesn't have time to debate Friday night, but he had time to fart around all day Wed.

Oh, and another reason McCain needs to cancel the foreign policy debate? How exactly does he tell the American people that we need to keep pissing away $10 Billion a month in Iraq when we're flat fucking broke and Wall Street needs a bailout.

None of this looks like leadership. It looks like a dipshit kid who waited till the last minute to study, panics and decides to pull an all nighter. That usually doesn't work out so well.

no that means that if there is no deal mccain will be doing HIS FUCKIN JOB which isnt running for president like it is for barry......APPARRENTLY

I cant wait for the debate either but I really want to see a pic of mccain in the senate ACTUALLY WORKING FOR HIS PEOPLE while obama is out READING A TELEPROMPTER.......

as for letterman

just like the lady on the view ......
who cares what a third rate comedian cares about anything political
and I used to like letterman but he hasnt been funny in a LONG LONG TIME.............

"I really want to see a pic of mccain in the senate ACTUALLY WORKING FOR HIS PEOPLE "

He doesn't serve on any of the relevant committees, and hasn't been to any of the high-level meetings. He---and Obama---throwing themselves in the middle at the 11th hour is merely a political stunt.

"no that means that if there is no deal mccain will be doing HIS FUCKIN JOB"

Bullshit.

If there is no deal, McCain will go back to campaigning.

What I find hilarious is that Letterman is a famous and ardent supporter of the GOP, so this is actually worse than it looks for MCPoopypants.

Perusing all the major newsites and blogs today, it's become quite clear that the nation is reacting much as I did - Laughing and pointing out McCain's obvious throwing of the match. With the Enquirer running a story about Palin's marital affair, poll numbers showing the people blame the GOP for the current mess, and I think, the biggest factor, that all it would take is for Obama to bring up the Keating 5 at the debates..... It is obvious to any thinking, rational being that McCain is blowing more smoke with this stunt.

Game Over. Can we just have the inauguration on Nov 4? Pretty please?

no that means that if there is no deal mccain will be doing HIS FUCKIN JOB which isnt running for president like it is for barry......APPARRENTLY

Oh, so the most absent senator is suddenly concerned about doing his job. Too bad he could not have been concerned about the other 64% of votes he missed.

How convenient.

We ought to be relieved that he IS NOT in the Senate.

"Does that mean if no deal is ever struck, McCain is through campaigning?"

No, in that case McCain would favor suspending the election.

McCain will go back to campaigning.

He never stopped.

He continues to raise money on his website.

This was a thinly vieled attempt to get the VP debate cancelled because the airhead won't cut it. After 40 days of grilling and rehearsing, Katie Couric makes he look like a fool.

Personally, I can't wait for the debate.

#31 | Posted by eberly

Well between you and McCain, Palin and all his campaign, that makes one of you.

What I find hilarious is that Letterman is a famous and ardent supporter of the GOP, so this is actually worse than it looks for MCPoopypants.

Pretty much all you need to know about Lettermans political leanings. Or political insight for that matter.

LETTERMAN, DAVID

SELF-EMPLOYED/TALK SHOW HOST FRANKEN, AL (DFL)
Senate - MN
AL FRANKEN FOR SENATE - $2,300

Hey, Letterman's writers spent a lot of time (and Letterman's money) working up softballs for Dave to pitch to the Senator. McCain could have appeared, made a big harumph about how serious it would eb to take action, prod his colleagues from Dave's studio, and then say he was flying down to DC to do his job in the Senate as soon as he left the studio. That's how I would have advised Mccain to handle it.

Just seems that these neocons are all the same -- thinking in a tiny box of their own invention, and scared as can be of anything that differs from how thay view the world. Will someone tell McCain's would-be facsists that they cannot control 100% of everything, and in their urge to control they appear more and mroe like jack-booted thugs.

Rev, where did you get that ole Dave is a GOP supporter. News to me.

"Furthermore it does show a certain leadership quality..blah blah blah"

Or...it shows a complete indifference to actually sticking to your stated commitments. He publically announces that he's suspending his campaign to go back and do the job he was elected for, calls Letterman and does his mea culpa for canceling, then gets on the plane--that I can understand. But Mr. Straight Talk just happens to stop by to have a live, on-air chat with the CBS national news anchor on the way there? What? Did his staff think Letterman wouldn't catch on? I'm not sure what steadfast leadership quality that showed you, but last night's fumble was an uber-gaff and it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't more than a few back room boys in the RNC that are coming to the conclusion that Letterman stealth joke about McCain being Palin's running mate isn't such a bad idea after all.

Epic fail.

What I find hilarious is that Letterman is a famous and ardent supporter of the GOP, so this is actually worse than it looks for MCPoopypants.

no matter what you say after something like this, it wont mean shit.

have you EVER listened to letterman at all and his rantings about republicans?

726......

you talk about mccain missing votes.
what about hillary and barry? surely you jest

and I am really proud of obama in the senate.

he hasnt voted PRESENT a single time has he?>????????????

I know, BL...it had me scratching my head, too.

"no matter what you say after something like this, it wont mean shit."

Wishful thinking. It made most of the morning news shows and is setting the tone for most folks opinions about McCain's melodramatic campaign suspension.

and I am really proud of obama in the senate.

No?

Quelle sooprise.

Probably why caribou barbie has quit campaigning:

Palin: I can give you examples of things that John McCain has done, that has shown his foresight, his pragmatism, and his leadership abilities. And that is what America needs today.

Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation.

You're accusing me of quibbling over a four month period when, supposidly, McCain voted 1 time to Obama's 16 times and then you pull out that Obama did not vote at all for, what, 27 days in October of last year? In the period you specify, how many times did McCain vote? and you're calling me a dipshit? You may want to look in the mirror.

There is absolutely nothing for McCain to do in Washington for the economy. This is all a ploy to get out of the ass kicking he knows is coming in the debates.

John McCain suspended his campaign, stopped running ads, and said he would not participate in the first debate scheduled for tomorrow at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS. He said that the nation is on the brink of a serious recession and this is no time for politics. McCain has been in the Senate 25 years. He knows precisely what will happen if he barges into the office of Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT), chairman of the Senate banking committee and announces: "OK, Outta here, I'm taking over now. Dodd's reaction would not be printable on a family Website like this one and McCain would be instantly and unceremoniously shown the door. There are two people responsible for writing banking bills: Dodd and his House counterpart Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA). If Dodd wants input from the Republicans on this, he will ask the ranking member on his committee, Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL). McCain and Obama play no role and McCain knows that very well.

www.electoral-vote.com

Now that an agreement has been reportedly hammered out without the participation of McCain or Obama, President Bush announces that he like McCain's idea of a leadership meeting including McCain and Obama. Obviously an attempt by the president to lend McCain an aura of leadership though transparent due to the fact that the agreement has already been made. A photo-op for McCain to try and help him resussitate his failing campaign...me thinks too little too late.

President Obama has a nice ring to it.

"I really want to see a pic of mccain in the senate ACTUALLY WORKING FOR HIS PEOPLE"

This past Tuesday:

ANCHOR: The crunch question. Would you vote for it as it's presently constructed?

JSM: I have not had a chance to see it in writing so I have to examine that.

www.youtube.com

So on Wed the crisis was SO severe that McCain had to suspend his campaign, but the day before he admits he hadn't even read the 3 page plan he was "rushing" back to Washington to save.

How in the hell is that working for the people? He doesn't even know what the thing says, and he's going to fix it?

But look what just broke on CNN. Congress has reached a deal on the bailout package and are taking it to Paulson. McCain's "expertise" is no longer required. Looks like he can make the debate after all.

So McCain didn't even read Paulson's proposal, he panics and pulls a cheap stunt, pisses away a day in NYC, and Congress reaches a deal before McCain gets around to doing anything. Oh, but I'm sure news of McCain's eminent arrival is what saved the day!

He panicked and flailed yet did nothing, and now he looks ridiculous. Not that I'm complaining.

How did McCain suspend his campaign? I've seen him plastered all over the media in the past day including this morning at the Clinton Conference giving a slightly newer revised version of his stump speech. This 'campaign suspension' is just another form of bullshit coming from the republican party. Now we watch as they slurp it up as sustenance.

And what's with McCains left eye? Can anyone say mini-stroke? It would explain his 11 minute attention span, the no more talking to reporters, the $5000 make-up person, and the fact that he evidentially can only concentrate on one thing at once.

I'm sick and tired of seeing a deliciously tasty treat of batter-dipped fried chicken on a fluffy sesame seed bun be slighted by comparing it to this debate dodging old fart.

Sarah Failin' embarrassed the campaign when she couldn't even repeat McCain's talking points to Couric, and 1, McCain ditches Letterman to have a damage control session with Couric to make people forget how badly Failin' fucked up, and 2, to attempt to push back the Vice Presidential debate to who knows when by suggesting the rescheduled debate between Obama and McCain on the night of the VP debate.

Typical.
Republican.
Horseshit.

and you're calling me a dipshit? You may want to look in the mirror.

Wow, the irony of cut and run herm commenting on cowardice. I suppose you'd be able to spot one immediately seeing as though you grew up with one.

And you're saying that McCain somehow does care about the economic meltown? Do you know this man or his history? Do you know that he was one of five senators that blocked federal regulators from investigating Lincoln Savings and Loan for two years in the late 1980s while Keating and Co. bilked it causing a bailout of $3.4 billion? Do you know that he and his anti-regulatory buddy/economic adviser Phil Gramm gave us the Enron loophole that deregulated trading of pretty much everything under the sun that ended up causing many people to lose their life savings and a few to get really rich (Gramm's wife was a board member of Enron and before that ran the commodities futures trading commission--no conflict there)? Do you know that speculative futures that became possible through the enron loophole are responsible for gas prices being over $4/gallon and allow petroleum corps to enjoy record profits? Do you know that McCain who's so ready to roll up his sleeves because it's time to get back to work has missed more votes than any other senator in the current session of congress? Yes, even more than the number missed by the senator from S.Dakota that had a brain hemorrhage. That lying sack of sh*t should care about the current economic crisis more than Letterman since he is one of its principal architects.

For all those posting the number of votes that Obama and McCain have cast at various time points, let's just look at the current session of Congress that began on January 3, 2007 and goes until January 3, 2009. During this time McCain has missed 64.1% of all votes--more than any other candidate. 117 more missed votes than Obama. 101 more missed votes than Tim Johnson who was recovering from a brain hemorrhage.

"Is it because the economy is cratering or because his campaign numbers are slipping?"

~David Letterman.

All indicators point to the latter explanation.

McChicken!

~Scrumplet

FF au go-go fer THAT.

Bravo. Like all really good jokes that one seems so obvious in retrospect.

Spud reckons that only the very stupidest of the rethugs are actually buying into this "I'm gonna go to Washington and fix this mess with my own bare hands" bullshit.

The rest of them are mouthing the words but not really feeling it.

It's obviously a cheap, calculated, political ploy in order to allow McChicken and Silent Sarah to withdraw from the debates in order to posture fer fools.

His age is starting to show if he can't do this much

Seen THIS yet?

Basically McCain treated Letterman like he treated his wife after he met the Paris Hilton of Arizona.

SQ- Great posts.

Chairborne- face it. Your guy's a lying corrupt politician who's actually afraid to debate Obama with his little experience (according to you and your party), let alone deal with a late-night talk show host.

Just the fact that the McCain camp didn't put it together that both Letterman and Courick are on CBS and no doubt the network feed would be on in the Letterman control room, shows not enough thought process for the job of president, let alone production coordinator. If you're going to lie, you had better get your ducks in a row first.

You can throw adolescent insults at DR members all day. Doesn't change the facts- your so-called maverick is a (quite possibly pre-Alzheimer's) HACK.

101 more missed votes than Tim Johnson who was recovering from a brain hemorrhage.

Yeah, but what's a brain hemorrhage compared to advanced senility?

Most of those missed votes were because McChicken thought he was riding up San Juan Hill with teddy Roosevelt again at the time.

You have a bunch of Dems without a fully functioning brain. Ted Kennedy, Tim Johnson, Joe Biden, ah fuck it, you get the point.

You have a bunch of Dems without a fully functioning brain.

And still they're doing a better job than the pedos and crooks you guys elect.
I'm pretty sure you voted alcohol and coke brain damaged in 2000 and 2004.

McSame's gotta ask himself, "My friend, was this ass kicking I took to try and spin Palin's disasterous earlier interview worth it?"

What's the Dem led congress' approval rating any how?

They sure didn't consider that when making all those fucking promises last November.

Letterman was great last night !

McCain, while 'meeting with advisers' yesterday also spent time with Lynn de Rothschild, richie rich woman, looking for some campaign contributions.

Looks like a majority of Americans saw McCain's actions as a stunt.

You mean like the Rtarded meme that sez that now that the Dems have a majority in Congress all of BushCo's fuck-ups can be laid at their feet.

You know ...like you just did?

I'm sure I'll regret asking you this, but where did I just say anything that could be even remotely mistaken as laying a Bush fuck up at the Dem congress' feet?

Did you hit your head on the monkey bars creepy? What in the fuck are you talking about?

Looks like a majority of Americans saw McCain's actions as a stunt.

~AU

71% percent saw through McAncient's stunt on the last poll Spud saw on the topic.

So America's terminally stupid quotient is down to 29%.

Hey! That's an improvement!

Are you really THAT stupid, Airhead?

Wow!!! You are brilliant. Who could imagine the Congessional parties not seeing eye to eye. That for the last 200 years the parties were always on the same and never even needed a debate. This is the first time in history nothing can be done in Washington. Wow Spud you are on to something.

But like wisgod brilliantly pointed out... Why did the dems make all these promises in November 2006? You know like lowering gas prices???

So America's terminally stupid quotient is down to 29%.

Which is still 20 % higher than the fuzzy foreigners up north.

where did I just say anything that could be even remotely mistaken as laying a Bush fuck up at the Dem congress' feet?

Right here.

Now it's the Republicans fault that the Dem led Congress is a failure.

That implies that the failures of the Dems to do wot they sed they'd do back in '06 have to do with Dems and not obstructionist tactics from the right.

And you know as well as Spud that the "Blame the Dems cos now they "control" congress" meme flies fast and furious here at the old Drudge Retort.

Do you deny it?

Like anyone could understand that fools jibberish if he did.

That implies that the failures of the Dems to do wot they sed they'd do back in '06 have to do with Dems and not obstructionist tactics from the right.

And the implication is valid.

Funny how the house under Tip O'Neil was able to get things done and occasionally stand up-to a wildly popular president in Reagan.

Yet, these clowns have rubber-stamped everything Bush has put through since '06 and his approval rating has been hovering around 30 for almost 2 years now.

Face it Spud, the current Democratic leadership in Congress sucks ass.

Don't worry though, the Republicans so thoroughly screwed the pooch since 2000 that even the pathetic Democratic party will pick up seats in both houses in November, and quite possibly the presidency as well.

The fact that the Republicans suck is no excuse for the Dems sucking as well.

Sorry stupid. Nobody but somebody as creepy as you can see "BushCo failures" anywhere in that statement.

Don't try to blame your easily dismissed lie on what flies fast and furious at the retort. You quoted me, and you were wrong as usual.

Are you so stupid that you can't even follow the thread? I know it's hard for such a fruitcake like you to understand, but those of us that live here in the USA (you know kid, the big leagues), including the vast majority of Dems, know that the Dem led congress has been a failure. A wanna-be American like you being so blindly partisan is hilarious.

So America's terminally stupid quotient is down to 29%.

By now, regular visitors to the DR know that you post all kinds of stuff as "true" when, in fact, you haven't a clue as to whether they are true or not. It's just a behavior you drag along with you---like some poor guy bedeviled by screeching Tourette's---so it's to be expected.

Actuallly, that's not true. I didn't accept it and thought he should've stepped aside for lying. Though there's no way you could possibly know, is there?

Agreed. the Dem leadership in Congress sucks ass.

THAT'S a no-brainer.

That sed, the notion that all of the problems going on right now can be blame on the Dems purely because they regained control of Congress in '06 is even more ridiculous.

The razor thin edge in the Senate along with the Filibusters and the Veto happy POTUS make that an inapt (or at least incomplete) argument.

Gothcha little man. Do your superior comprehension skills understand repubs didn't like the lies about getting the BJ as opposed to the act? Which you seem to use as an answer to counter repubs.

The I-was-a-POW geezer and his airhead floozie heiress apparent would use this crisis to bug out of further campaign debate where they'd be hugely outclassed - and know it. That's downright criminal, that will lead to even more GOP defections.

The New York Times, not exactly a socialist publication despite our ranting right, nailed it this morning when it said that now is the time that the nation deserves to hear just what each candidate has to say about our "economy." Since being on a stage with Obama would put the final nail in the McBush coffin, it behooves us not to him McB get away with cutting sand running. herm

He COULD HAVE told Letterman the truth, and he'd have been grilled a bit, and that would have been it.

Instead, he tells Letterman he's getting on a plane IMMEDIATELY.

He tells him a BOLD FACE LIE... and Letterman even uncovers the lie within the hour he has on the air that day for that show, and Letterman even gets to cut to a LIVE FEED of McCain getting make-up put on for his OTHER interview.

If only that camera were two-way, like Letterman's little crowd sketches.

Are you trying to defend McCain by claiming 'Other people lie, so it must be OK'?

Perhaps we'll just cross 'lying' off of the list of wrong things to do (if you're a Republitard).

What the heck, maybe we'll cross off 'Bearing false witness' as a sin, too, since lying is A-OK. It was written down somewhere or other by some well-meaning but misguided character in a fairy tale book, once upon a time. Probably only meant to be rough guidelines, and not anything like law.

Chair, I wonder. Do YOU think the democrats didn't do enough? I've been reading the retort for some time and it's time to chime in. I'm sick and tired of hearing you and your side complaining that the democrats haven't done anything when it's the assholes you put in there preventing them from doing so. Do you understand how the branches of government work? Or are you just being disingenuous with your comments?

Get it in while you can. Pretty soon they'll have a majority, and you'll be eating it along with your crow.

At the risk of incurring some of that endless vitriol Ozzie spews, I must note that "My response to Letterman is FUCK YOU! You are nothing more then a Scum Sucking Liberal ASSHOLE!" is more or less representative of the best the rhetorical right offers these days. FACT? What's a fact?

I also need to point out - he surely knows - that ALL newspaper profits are going into the tank, because technology is rendering the printed morning blat obsolete. Even the hallowed Times.

Uh huh. Any more profound thoughts, Fast Eddie?

This is just crazy. McCain tells letterman he needs to take an emergency flight to DC to save the economy so he can't show up. Then he gives an interview with katie couric at the same time, on the same network, where dave can pull of the feed and mock the senator.

I think the last wheel just came off of the McCain campaign bus.

PS He didn't say a single word in the 45 minute WH meeting.

Not knocking you, TAKITEZ. Just pointing out McCain was most likely not concentrating on the financial crisis (as he stated he must in 'suspending' his campaign), but did find plenty of time to be elsewhere than D.C., and once there seemed to have done more harm than good by pulling the Congressional leaders away from their meetings for a photo op at the White House.

Tactically, it is not wise to be fooling around on the comedy shows in the present context --- for image and perception purposes.

If McCain keeps acting like a senile old coot, you will have no choice but to let Obama fix it. And fix your wars. And every other piece of lousy governance you side has royally screwed up for the past 8 years.

Wait- let me save you the trouble. 'But the dems have had a (one person) majority in congress for 2 years and have done NOTHING! Democrat's fault! Right??? If you agree with this statement, you really have no choice but to elect more Democrats to congress so they can do something this time. Right???

I just heard Harry Ried submit the biggest LIE I've heard in a long time. He blamed the financial screw up on Bush. Of course what is new? The truth is his buddies Dodd and Frank caused this problem. Can't we tell the truth for once? Dirty Harry is a LIAR!

Like pushing deregulation for the past 8 years? Phil Grahmm and the Enron loophole? Less taxes on capital gains which has pretty much been proven at this point not to 'trickle down?' Like trying to pass new legislation with NO OVERSIGHT???

Completely Dodd and Frank's fault. The Bush administration is golden as always. If only we could have 4 more of your lord and savior Bush.

Oz- buy a clue.

"Completely Dodd and FRanks fault". MADLIB hard to accept fact when your a liberal.

Sorry Oz- you got it backwards. The libs are the intellectual elites- we're educated like Obama. We actually use logic and reasoning. We understand facts pretty well.

Especially when they're as clear as the ever-growing nose on G.W. Pinocchio's and McSame's face.

Using facts to come to an accurate conclusion. Now that would be a Maverick move for your candidates!

Doesn't it feel like your boy (and little girl) are making it up as they go along?

We ought to be relieved that he IS NOT in the Senate.

or maybe a tape of the symphony number 1 performed in salzberg, austria and THEN WORRY About me being a fifth rate band director from bumfuck

and a 5th rate director from bumfuck TEXAS is still heads and heals over anyone else

so thanks for the chance to brag a little

NOW TELL ME>..........WHAT IN THE FUCK DOES YOUR ATTACK OR MY RESPONSE HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING ABOUT THIS SUBJECT????

For all those posting the number of votes that Obama and McCain have cast at various time points, let's just look at the current session of Congress that began on January 3, 2007 and goes until January 3, 2009. During this time McCain has missed 64.1% of all votes--more than any other candidate. 117 more missed votes than Obama. 101 more missed votes than Tim Johnson who was recovering from a brain hemorrhage.

okay lets give you this point as you seem to have it down.

so why not look at what the VOTES WHERE ACTUALLY FOR

naming a post office after someone?
congratulating some group for something.....

dont you think that should have some bearing?

or is that NINE PER CENT APPROVAL RATE OF CONGRESS just another right wing conspiracy thingy?

That sed, the notion that all of the problems going on right now can be blame on the Dems purely because they regained control of Congress in '06 is even more ridiculous.

Agreed, however I haven't seen that notion proferred.

As I have said, the Republicans have royally screwed the pooch since 2000.

cant completely disagree with either of these statements but if the RIGHT had done what we sent them for. the left would be even more outraged and lying.

if there HAD NOT BEEN all that spending we would be hearing even more about how the right doesnt care about the american poor...........

"and a 5th rate director from bumfuck TEXAS is still heads and heals(sic) over anyone else"

Heal! Heal I say!

oh zat.........

so who will UT pick on this week

the little sisters of the poor or the st pius school for the blind.

You will soon see reality creeping into your world. The 9% is a reflection of the republican obstructionists in the House and Senate. Expect to see fewer of them in January 2009, 2011, and 2013.

By that time, maybe you'll get a clue as to who is referred to by that 9%. Maybe.

Letterman and McCain are Twins!!!

Don't worry for when McCain shows up to do the show in the next 2 weeks,David Letterman will be gratefully kissing McCain's dirty, corrupt "ass" like it was going out of style!!!
