OH NO! Another earth shattering reason not to vote for McCain.

What is his plan to help the economy? What does it matter. He owns 13 cars! What will Obama do about the war in Iraq? It doesn't matter. He owns a single car.

Now that the important stuff is out in the open like cars and tanning beds, maybe we can list some of the more insignificant issues like Taiwan, Korea, the Middle east, energy, etc.

This information about McCain's cars probably isn't a deal breaker any more than his 7 homes, his Ferragamo loafers (at $520 a pop) or his wife's corporate jet that he uses ~ but his campaign is the one who tried to plant the image of Obama as an "elitist" who hangs around country clubs looking suave.

As they say in a court of law, "He opened the door."

So if Newsweek wants to throw some cold water on McCain, I'd say that he asked for it.

You know the old story . . . it's about glass houses and all that kind of stuff.

My plumber has 11 cars. BFD.

Oh, and what a bullshit article. Three of those "cars" are electric carts:

www.gemcar.com

Seven horsepower with no doors.

Ok. So he has ten cars.

What a difference that made, huh?

What a difference that made, huh?

One car, ten cars, thirteen cars. How the fuck does that affect one's ability to lead? If the fewer cars one owns the better the leader (as the author is implying, I guess) how does selling 12 cars improve one's leadership abilities?

It takes the "Obama's an elitist" narrative to the woodshed, goatman.

No elitist I ever met owns 1 car.

It's more proof of McCain's say anything and be hypocritical campaign tactics.

This story isn't about leadership. It's about hypocrisy.

It's about a log in McCain's eye roughly the size of a Giant Redwood.

Exactly, twinpac.

Elitism is a state of mind, an attitude; it is not necessarily a function of wealth.

Some of the weatlhiest people in the world are not elitists in the sense that they don't believe that their shit doesn't stink.

That's your definition, jeff.

Somehow, A bum in a garbage car that thinks he smells good isn't most people's definition of elitism.

car = can

One has to be a member of the elite to even be in the running for elitism.

That's true JEFF

I felt so sorry for a ragged old man I knew in Phoenix that I went out of my way to visit and talk with him.

Turned out "Old Chris" owned the Christown Shopping Mall in Phoenix. In fact, he owned the whole damn city block.

The old guy was worth millions. It just happened that he liked the company of his cows more than he did the three-piece suits in his boardroom.

He was a great ol' guy. I'll never forget him.

That's your definition, jeff.

Obama has more than enough personal wealth to fit your definition, Alex.

Cool story, Twinpac.

I've got one of my own, but give me a few, I have to wake my son for school.

Twin,

About 8 years ago we started buying pumpkins at a nearby farm for Halloween.

Back then, it was a fairly small, albeit impressive operation. The family couldn't be nicer and their decorations were all handmade and beautiful. They have a huge barn and the inside is as nice as the inside of any house (they actually live in a farmhouse on the property, the barn is their 'commerce' center).

I was talking to the patriarch and he told me the following story:

Once per week he'd stop at McD's on his way to work and have coffee and read the paper. Every time he'd stop in he'd see that same elderly gentleman. Eventually, they struck up a conversation and before he knew it, they established a weekly rendezvous. The elderly man passed away 3 years later and he willed his farm, to this guy who owns it now. He had no living family members and it was his belief that this guy would do something special with his property.

Fast forward to the present...

I was cruising by the farm on a warm Thursday evening mid-October last year. I counted over 200 people waiting to get on a tractor to ride back to the pumpkin patch. This guy was running 4 tractors non-stop - so you can get an idea as to how many people were actually on the premises.

They converted the pole barn into a Donut hut - Cider, donuts, etc.

They also have 'pictures with Santa Claus' in December. The decorations for Christmas on this farm are indescribable.

Let's just say that this guy is fulfilling his obligation to do something special with the place.

How many cars can one own before they are called an elitist? My grandfather, though a humble doctor, love his automobiles. He owned 7 and two motorcycles. Was he an elitist? I suppose you would think so.

He charged very little or nothing at all to his patients who couldn't afford it. He often took eggs or fresh tomatoes for payment from the farm folk. He made house calls. He lived in a 1800 or so ft^2 house between a grocery store manager and school teacher.

But he had a lot of cars, so he must've been an elitist.

"how does selling 12 cars improve one's leadership abilities?"

how about the fact that he lies about driving only american

fine
mccain
sell your 12 cars and buy 12 new fords

He lived in a 1800 or so ft^2 house between a grocery store manager and school teacher.

McCain, the son of an Admiral, owns 7 houses bought with his wife's inherited fortune and reportedly thinks pentamillionaires are middle class.

Do you think McCain considers himself a regular guy and only drinks on the west side of Phoenix when he's at home? Or is he an honored guest at Biltmore Estates whenever he should deign to make an appearance?

What is it that makes Obama an elitist? Is it his magna cum laude diploma from Harvard? The fact that he was a law professor? His demonstrated intelligence?

Lot of questions, but one answer.

Mud flung has rebounded in McCain's face.

how about the fact that he lies about driving only american

Do you have a link to him saying that? Or is this just another one of your lies to fulfill your insatiable desire to spew hatred as I've seen twice already from you in the last hour?

That's what I thought.

Grow up, klifferd. Try taking all that angst and turning it towards something positive. It will make you feel like a better person.

What is it that makes Obama an elitist?

I don't think he is.

JEFF

That's a wonderful story. Here's another about Ol' Man Chris.

Old Man Chris took great delight in letting me sit on his old horse and leading me around a little paddock like I was a kid at a carnival pony ride.

I never told him that I owned thoroughbreds and galloped them every day with my knees up to my chin.

He was such a sweet old man. I never wantd to burst his bubble or deprive him of the fun he had "teaching" me about horses.

BTW . . . I think the two of us have already debunked the "eletist model" vs wealth, haven't we?

Obama has more than enough personal wealth to fit your definition, Alex.

How much is he worth? And if personal worth is the criterion, McCain is a SUPER elitist.

But he had a lot of cars, so he must've been an elitist.

Goatman still doesn't get it. Surprise.

Goatman still doesn't get it. Surprise

And Alex thinks the litmus test for elitism is owning a lot of cars.

Wish my grandfather was still alive and you could have met him. You'd change your mind.

And if personal worth is the criterion...

Here, let me help you, Alex.

www.merriam-webster.com

As you can see, elitism has nothing to do with money or cars. Hope this helps.

Excellent story, Twin. I can almost see this guy excitedly sharing with you his knowledge of horses!

I think the two of us have already debunked the "eletist model" vs wealth, haven't we?

Absolutely!

if personal worth is the criterion, McCain is a SUPER elitist.

I never said personal wealth was the criterion for elitism. That has been YOUR argument. I have argued to the contrary - see the discussion between myself and Twinpac as evidence.

I'll cite further anecdotal evidence: My parents.

All through my life they have stressed the importance of accepting people for who they are and the importance of not becoming too full of oneself. In short, they are the furthest thing from elitst.

Yet....

They have a 2700 sq. foot home with a fully finished basement and a beautifully landscaped yard, for the 2 of them. They have a vacation property in Northern Michigan on a huge lake with a 23.5' power boat. They have 3 cars, their "beater" being a 2008 Ford Taurus X Limited. They also have a Ford Thunderbird convertible and a BMW 545i. They have 10 season tickets to U of M football, 4 for U of M basketball and hockey. They have 8 season tickets for Tiger's baseball. They also attend several Pistons and Red Wings games, including playoffs games, every year. Last year, they took a 35-day vacation to Australia, this year, a 35-day vacation to Italy.

Yet, despite all of this obvious wealth, they remain firmly grouned in reality and have no reservations about mixing it up with "commoners".

mixing it up with "commoners".

Hey, I know you're being a little sarcastic here but the fact that you felt the need to use commoner should suggest something to you.

We're missing a key part of the equation here, people. If the one car the Obamas own is a time-traveling DeLorean, John McCain has nothing to worry about.

elitism has nothing to do with money or cars. Hope this helps.

I bet obama socializes with regular normal folks and has them as friend by 10 times that of mccain.

Is McCain even physically able to drive a car?

I bet obama socializes with regular normal folks and has them as friend by 10 times that of mccain.

Do you have any proof of that - or is this just a gut reaction (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

Nobody's doubting that a rich person can be down to Earth and not an elitist, but the question is, can a person of modest means and regular stature be an elitist?
I think that is more the question. I don't think McCain is an elitist, in the sense that he belittles the "common folk" but I do think he is out of touch and has no idea how most people in this country live. I believe Obama is more aware of regular folks and certainly is not the Country Club snob that he was claimed to be early on.

the fact that you felt the need to use commoner should suggest something to you.

What should it suggest?

JJ,

It is my gut reaction.

Nihilst,

I don't think either of these 2 candidates are elitist.

Both hang out in elitist circles, but both have a portion of their life-experience that is very humble.

JJ,

I understood what your sarcasm was about but the fact commoner zooms the tone as if one is in the cloud above but is politically nice to those who eat off stainless.

CurrencyConflict,

It is my gut reaction.

Fair enough.

McCain seems pretty down-to-earth to me. Having said that, I haven't seen much from Obama that points to being an elitist in attitude.

I have no horse in this 'gut-reaction' comparison.

PS - I so badly wanted to drop your name on my union blog, but I can't recall you ever being a "shill" for unions, so I didn't. I almost did so anyway, just to fuck with you, but I am in a benign mood this morning - end of the graveyard shift and all that (I know you can empathize).

I understood what your sarcasm was about but the fact commoner zooms the tone as if one is in the cloud above but is politically nice to those who eat off stainless.

I eat off paper plates more frequently than stainless - I bust out the fine China maybe twice per year.

JJ,

Go ahead a lay the bomb on the union blog, I see a purpose for them and usely protect them when I see posts that are incorrect do to peoples lack of dealing with what unions actually do.

Far too many people assume false dictum of unions which usually starts from LAZY managers.

I agree about the paper plates, no dishes, but I have to drink from an actual glass, no plastic there.

$War,

I have no desire to lay the bomb as I feel that unions still perform a valuable function in our economy, although they are nowhere near as important as they used to be.

Just wait until the merry-go-round makes its way around again.

What's wrong with a platic glass?

I am sipping a Capt'n and Coke out of one as I type this!

You must be an elitist! Can't hang with us commoners drinking out of plastic cups.

I know, I know...adult beverage at 9AM??? However, this is the end of the shift for me and I am about to go to bed!

I bust out the fine China maybe twice per year.

I don't even own fine china, silver, or crystal and I've been called an elitist on this blog! LOL

Just wait until the merry-go-round makes its way around again.

Absolutely! This is precisely the reason why I have no desire for unions to go away - if current trends continue, union value to the worker will rise.

I agree about the paper plates, no dishes, but I have to drink from an actual glass, no plastic there

I hate paper plates, but I agree that beverages must be consumed out of glass, not plastic

Absolutely!...

Okay, maybe we need to keep this topic to one thread, Jeff, lol.

You're an elitist, Goat!

Hag,

I managed at a union shop for exactly 1 year. Some of the union sterrotypes were true, but it was nowhere near what I was lead to believe - the Union wasn't nearly as ridiculous (in this 1 shop) as I had heard.

Good point, Hag.

If you weren't such a dick, you'd restrain your union comments to the appropriate thread - the one that I created.

Quit goading me into commenting off-topic, you jerk.

I don't know whether to LOL or say WTF?

My first and only union-related comment was in response to your response to $war at #42.

Hag,

Try "LOL".

I was "trying" to be funny.

Well then, LOFL!

Elitism is a state of mind, an attitude; it is not necessarily a function of wealth.

Elitism is an absurd charge the Republicans use when they can't sell their policies and their performance in office. Hence, cross-dressing New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani derides people who are "cosmopolitan" and multimillionaire Mitt Romney ridicules the East Coast elite, and seven-house, 13-car owning John McCain tries to claim Barack Obama is out of touch with common people.

Barack and Michelle Obama own one, a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid.

I find this pandering to be worse then owning 13 cars... what absolute horseshit that a couple of millionaires are driving 1 car and its a piece of shit Escape Hybrid. Its either pandering at its worst, or a smokescreen for other vehicles they have.

Well, I guess they don't count the car that Obama uses that's part of his bene's package for being a senator (the C.Rangle principle).

"Ich bin ein elitist!"

'57 Chevy (mom sold it when I got shipped overseas)
'62 Honda Scrambler (made being stationed in Hawaii tolerable)
'65 Triumph TR4 (an officer practically gave it to me when he got orders for Alaska)
'67 VW Bug (air station project car-I had the pink)
'67 Triumph Trident (made being stationed in Memphis much less sucky)
'62 Olds 88 (the wife immediately wrecked it)
'65 Mustang (another victim the wife chalked up)
'65 Corvair (couldn't keep an engine in it)
'70 Honda 750 (couldn't have gotten through college without it)
'72 Road Runner (it got like 3 miles per gallon until it threw a rod...complete with empty Redman pouches stuffed under the seat)
'65 VW Micro Bus (pristine split-seat camper...couldn't keep an engine in it)
'82 ElCamino (stolen & stripped 4 weeks after I bought it)
'74 Honda Civic (an old lady's car--clean and low miles...I instantly regretted selling it)
'75 Land Cruiser (a rugged, manly junker)
'84 Montero (my friends called it "the Pope Mobile")
'88 Honda CBR1000F (stolen & stripped)
'91 Honda CBR1000F (a bus ate it with me on it)
'92 Expo (laugh if you will, but great for hauling guitars and amps)
'99 Cabrio (the gayest car in the world but the price was too good to pass up)

All of them one at a time.

Obama is not an elitist or fat cat. He and his wife just joined the millionaires club from the proceeds of his book.

Most senators and presidential candidates are from old money.

This alone should speak volumes.

Well, I guess they don't count the car that Obama uses that's part of his bene's package for being a senator (the C.Rangle principle).

I just refuse to believe that any well off family drives a Ford...

Thank you, but I like my transmissions to last beyond 65,000 miles...

I am pretty impressed actually. No ferrari, no jag, no benz, not even a bmw... a honda, jeep, pick up, caddie. I would only be concerned if his garage were full of $400k cars that he never uses. So what?!!!

My auto-biography:

1965 Dodge Dart
1985 Ford LTD
1987 Toyota Celica
1991 Toyota Tercel
1994 Ford Aerostar van
2001 Chevy Suburban (ugh)
2004 Honda Civic

One car until 1994. Now two, but the Suburban is driven as infrequently as possible due to gas prices. Buying a gas-guzzling SUV right after 9/11 to compensate for my tiny sex organ was a big mistake, as I've acknowledged here before.

Do you have any proof of that - or is this just a gut reaction (not that there's anything wrong with that)?

#32 | Posted by JeffJ

Yes Jeff I can say this is true. I've had lunch with his wife and kids and know the people he hangs with....

I own one car (that my wife drives) I dislike cars. Huge pain in the ass, it's not the money it's the other asshole drivers...

I hear that Obama's friends are sick and tired of driving him around, just so he can brag to Newsweek that he's only got one car.

Well now we will certainly have to call McCain's Patriotism into question as it is blatantly obvious he is definitely not a Smokin joe biden I bet McCain does not even send extra money to Washington above and beyond what he owes. By the way how is that working out for the Democratic supporters on this site. Have you sent your checks in to help gaff master ole smokin joe biden, remember it's the Patriotic thing to do and it's YOUR party.

Amazing that the Rigid Righties try to defend McSame on that one. The Palins, I presume, have one '82 pickup with a gun-nut bumper sticker. So this gives the McSames two cars for each of the seven houses but one, the one facing foreclosure, I guess. herm

Looks like another Democrat that has shirked his civic duty let me guess Washington will only get exactly how much you owe not even a penny extra. Ole smokin joe would consider you UNPATRIOTIC but I am sure Herm will vote for him anyway...

this pisses me off! we only have six payed off vehicles...one with payments...where did we go wrong?

"with a gun-nut bumper sticker."

Wow Herm are you taking lessons directly from BHO, I bet you're right they probably do have a "gun nut bumper sticker" hell I bet the other side of the bumper says the word CHRISTIAN too and if you look even closer probably the American flag all three are considered offensive to Barrack and company...

2003 Ford Escape, 125,000 miles, original transmission. Maybe the driver is to blame.

HEY TRY READING THE ARTICLE!! It is not about how many, it is WHERE ARE THE USA MADE CARS?
United Auto Workers president Ron Gettelfinger, an Obama backer, accused McCain this month of "flip-flopping" on who bought daughter Meghan's foreign-made Toyota Prius. McCain said last year that he bought it, but then told a Detroit TV station on Sept. 7 that Meghan "bought it, I believe, herself." (The McCain campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)
"I've bought American literally all my life and I'm proud," McCain said in the interview with Detroit's WXYZ-TV. But the rest of his fleet is not all-American. There's a 2005 Volkswagen convertible in the garage along with a 2001 Honda sedan. Otherwise, there's a 2007 half-ton Ford pickup truck, which might come in handy on the Sedona ranch; a vintage 1960 Willys Jeep; a 2008 Jeep Wrangler; a 2000 Lincoln; and a 2001 GMC SUV. The McCains also own three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles, which are bubble-shaped cars popular in retirement communities.

So whoever wanted the source for McAlzhiemer's saying he only buys American, TRY READING THE ARTICLE!!!!!

I bet that flag waving POW capitalist probably eats Chinese food as well. He is no smokin joe biden that's for sure by the way did you send your Patriotic check in yet wouldn't want to look like a hypocrite now would you??????

Atax froths to the point of dribbling, but does he have anything of substance? herm

Ha! First I read that Obama owns a hybrid, and I say well maybe he has principles that keep him from owning gas-guzzlers. Then, from the article:

Obama ditched the 300C Hemi, once 50 Cent's preferred ride, after taking heat for driving a guzzler while haranguing Detroit about building more fuel-efficient cars.

Is Obama the biggest cave-in pussy of all time? Jesus, I hope Putin doesn't hate Obie's Ford Escape, or he'll ditch it for a moped.

Obama spends so much time aquiescing to the opinions of others that he hasn't the balls to say, "Dude, I'm a Senator. I deserve a nice ride. I mean, It's not like I have a 12,000 sq ft mansion in Tennessee that's got the carbon footprint of a regional high school, or 3 powerboats and uncountable jet skis like the 2004 candidate. I'll drive what I want, thank you. Oh, and ignore that new Boeing jet with the disco ball and the vending machine filled with Newports.
news.yahoo.com
That's not mine. I just ride in it."

C'mon Obama, grow some gonads.

You never do, why should anyone else? Like Hussein drives around himself in that FORD. Utter bs. Have you seen his campaign plane HERM? He has used more gas on that than I have in my life.

Whipe the drool from the corner of your mouth and go get your brick.

The Straight Talk Express has 52 wheels.

Oh no there is a 2001 Honda registered in his wife's name along with some other old cars. Man a 2008 Jeep. Should I be mad that he has the same car that I lease? Maybe I should hate on him for driving an Escalade. With his kind of money I am amazed that he does not have 14 cars that are all 06 and newer. After all isn't the American dream to have 2 cars in every driveway?

Gee the guy you Dems ran the last is worth $250M and with his wife's fortune added is worth over $1B.

And you told us last election Kerry was not an elitist so what has changed your minds? The R after McCains name?

"And you told us last election Kerry was not an elitist"

Yet the Republicans told us he was. What changed from then to now, other than the letter after the elitist's name?

Herm I can not help it if gaff master smokin joe biden is just begging to be laughed at. By the way word on the street has it smokin joe actually has tourettes syndrome and simply just can not keep his mouth closed. I give him credit for telling it like it is however Barracks master plan is to Tax and spend our way out of the current financial crisis. Printing up a bunch of money lends me to believe the man is a financial wizard, after all with the dollar being virtually worthless the debt will seem smaller. So far as the new $10,000 note being issued by the treasury if Obama and company are elected it probably is just a rumor that smokin joe will be on the front of the note and a giant boat anchor will be on the back...

If he does own 13 vehicles, consider he is keeping 12 off the roads, and saving gas!?! An environmentalist too? Wow, things don't get better'n this!

He did until he figured he could fool the lemmings by switching to a hybrid.

I would always vote for the guy with the most cars, because he obviously knows what it's like being a real American. Besides what kind of pussy drives a Hybrid? Flop Ears should have stayed in Europe with all those wimps and their tiny cars.

Are you truly as retarded as you come across?

Obama owns one vehicle....an American one at that, and somehow he's a 'wimp' and 'should have stayed in Europe' because he didn't want to piss money away on gas........but Johnny McShame owns multiple foreign vehicles (including hybrids) and he's somehow a 'real American' for that?

Like I said, you have fast become a punchline around here. You're a joke with absolutely no substance.

Feel free to jump to another handle as needed though!

"Feel free to jump to another handle as needed though!" COM

I've been away on vacation and been involved in some projects which have cut back on my blogging time (but not my porn time)... and it's like I just walked into a room full of strangers. Is it my imagination or have we witnessed a sizeable influx of new names lately?

You're a joke with absolutely no substance.

I think frank55 has him beat in that department.

OMG. John McCain's FAMILY owns 13 cars!!! Why is this even an issue? Hillary & Edwards are paying over $1,000 for their haircuts!! How many cars to do famous wealthy Democrat leaders like the Kennedy's or Rockefeller's own? How many private jets and helicopters and yachts? Give me a frickin' break!

"Obama owns one vehicle....an American one at that, and somehow he's a 'wimp' and 'should have stayed in Europe' because he didn't want to piss money away on gas........but Johnny McShame owns multiple foreign vehicles (including hybrids) and he's somehow a 'real American' for that?"

Commonsense? More like LACK of sense!

McCain owns TWO cars, a 1961 Military Jeep with a Blue Book value of between $13,000-17,000 and a 2004 Cadillac STS, Blue Book Value of $12,000. My Daughter's Ford 500 has a higher value than McCain's car.

3 of the other 11 "cars" are actually electric GOLF CARTS with a top speed of 7 MPH!
Another of those cars is a Toyota Prius that is his daughter's. All of the other cars are his wife's.
Again, it is now a crime for a wealthy woman to own anything!

The UAW are as stupid as the people pushing this story. They protested McCain's daughter owning a Toyota Prius because it isn't an American car".

FACT: Obama's Ford Escape is worth between $26,000-28,000, MORE than McCain's two cars together.
FACT: Last year NASCAR ran four car models. Ford, Dodge, Chevrolet and Toyota. The only one of those models built in the United States was the Toyota Camry, built in that foreign country of... TENNESSEE. The Ford was Built in Mexico, the Chevy was built in Canada and the Dodge was built in Canada.
In 2008 Chevy switched from the SS to the Impala. The Impala is built in the USA so half of the car models in NASCAR this year are built in America, Chevy and Toyota. Ford and Dodge continue to be built in foreign countries.

FACT: Obama's Ford Escape uses a regenerative energy system patented by TOYOTA. SO the profits from that system go mostly to TOYOTA since it is the EXACT SAME system as the one found on the Prius driven by McCain's daughter... so where are the UAW protests against Obama?

FACT: The transmission for Obama's Ford Escape is built by a subsidiary company of TOYOTA! ALL hybrid vehicles, no matter what the nameplate found on them use this same transmission and the profits go to TOYOTA.

FACT: The batteries used to drive the electric motors that propel Obama's Ford Escape are manufactured by... SANYO. Last time I checked, SANYO was a Japanese owned firm.

SPECULATION: Most electronics made today are manufactured in Red China. My speculation is that at LEAST 90% of the electronics in Obama's Ford Escape were manufactured in Red China. Also, hybrids use far more electronics than standard cars do the the amount of electronics built in Red China for the Ford Escape are probably twice as many as any American car would contain.

Bottom line, the ONLY difference between Obama's "American" car and McCain's daughter's car is where it was ASSEMBLED. The Prius is assembled in Japan and the Escape in Kansas City.

If his Daughter were driving a Camry hybrid there would be NO difference except the logos on the cars since they would both be built in the USA using mostly components built in Japan and China.

Keep up the learning, some day you might actually obtain some "Common Sense".

Now shyguy,

Why don't you answer the orginal question YOU highlighted.

TheShyGuy-
So, the other ten cars or so aren't really owned by McCain, but by his wife, who won't let him drive her cars or muck up her fortune and stuff. I mean, it's not like they're married or anything. I mean, not REALLY married.

Here's the problem, folks. McCain went WAAAY out of his way to portray Obama as an "elitist", mmmkay?

When you don't know how many houses you own, and you own more cars than I own shoes, you sorta deserve to get you ass handed to you when you accuse someone else of being an "elitist".

Do we have that straight?

UTASTAFF-
Did you read and comprehend my last post on this thread?

Do we have that straight?

Ta fer cutting through the crap BetelG.

Speaking of which guess Guy aint so Shy any more.

Wot a lively and spirited defense of the Clan McCain's Convoy of vehicles that was.

Bet he's still wiing froth from his monitor after all that.

Hey, fewbricksShyofaload, you fergot to justify Cindy's vanity plated Lexus!

Ms Bud, indeed.

Be Well.

Keep up the learning, some day you might actually obtain some "Common Sense".

Keep trying to spin that anyway you need to fit your argument.

Your whole argument regarding the Redneck Roundy-Rounds is absolutely laughable in this context.

Simply put, Jowels McSame owns 11 vehicles and Obama owns one American made by an American company by American workers.....my point was in regards to the DR turds trying to portray Obama as an elitist.

BTW, what is the value of Jowels mcCain's family jet?

Hey Spud,
Why do I have to justify Cindy's vanity plates? They are not obscene, they are not demeaning and they are not unique.
Oh, I forgot. Once The Messiah is elected President (and pigs fly) anyone who doesn't toe the Communist Line (Oops, I meant the Democrat line) will be shipped off to the Gulag.
Let see what the rules are now:
Nobody can buy foreign cars (except Democrats like Obama, so long as those foreign cars have a phoney American logo on them).
Nobody can own more than one house (unless they are a Democrat like John Edwards and screw women that are not their wife).
Nobody is allowed to be innocent until proven guilty unless they are a foreign terrorist or a Democrat who stores $90,000 in bribe money in their freezer.
Nobody may use too much carbon producing fuel unless they are Democrats like Algore and Queen "B" Piglosi.

Have I missed any Spud?
I'm sure you will point out any of the new rules of the Party to me since I have never been a Communist so I don't know all of the rules yet. I do know that you are supposed to keep you party membership papers next to your heart. Where do you keep yours?

By the way, thanks for the compliment. If I am a few bricks short of a load, then you are obviously running on empty...

Also, if I could afford a Lexus I wouldn't buy one. I also wouldn't buy any American car. My Favorite is the AC Cobra which is a hybrid of American engine technology and British vehicle design. Unfortunately I don't have a spare quarter million to buy an original and wouldn't want a replica.

PS. I also have had vanity plates in the past myself. No need to justify them, since at least until Jan 20, 2009 this is still a relatively free country unless folks wake up and send NOBama back to Chi-Town... my home town but not his.

Shyguy-
I think the major point is that the guy who tried to portray his opponent as an "elitist" can't keep track of how many houses and cars he owns.

Dig it?

Shyguy-
Now, I'm all fine with wealth, and in fact I want some more of it (which may be difficult since the Bush administration has ensured that I'll be in debt to China for the next several decades). But I digress. The point I'm beating you senseless (granted, you started out that way) about is that when you accuse your opponent, who owns one house and one car, of being an "elitist", it naturally raises some eyebrows when you wear $500 Italian shoes, own so many houses that you lose track, and have more cars at one time than most Americans will own in a lifetime.

who owns one house and one car, of being an "elitist", it naturally raises some eyebrows when you wear $500 Italian shoes, own so many houses that you lose track, and have more cars at one time than most Americans will own in a lifetime.

betelg: Elitism has absolutely nothing to do with how much money one has or how much property one owns. A poor man can be an elitist and a rich man isn't necessarily one. Look up the word if you don't believe me. Here, I'll help you out:

www.webster-dictionary.org

I'm glad to have been able to help you out.

I noticed the dictionary above is a 1913 webster, so to keep you from arguing that the word has changed in the last 95 years, here is the definition from a modern dictionary. Pretty much the same. No mention of wealth or possessions.

www.merriam-webster.com

You're welcome

Goatman-
Of course not. Elitists are those who by their merits rise. It has nothing to do with the sons of admirals or Senators or those who dump their poor wives and children for the fortunes of heiresses. It's an attitude most pronounced by the uppity among us.

Of course not.

If you understand the meaning of the word, why do you point at the candidates' respective wealth/possessions when you imply that one is elite and one isn't?

Of course, there is always the esteemed, world-respected Urban Dictionary's
definition of the word "elitist" lol.

Urban Dictionary - "elitist"

Goatman-
Why does the McCain campaign persist in portraying the kid of an unconnected single mother as an "elitist"? Why is not Bush an elitist? Why is McCain, son of an Admiral who was son of an Admiral not an "elitist"?

Moneywar,
"Now shyguy,
Why don't you answer the orginal question YOU highlighted."

Exactly what DIDN'T I answer from the highlight?

-I already said that Obama's car is NOT American, for the most part. Indeed, most of the major systems are from TOYOTA, which the UAW head criticized McCain for his daughter buying despite those major systems on Obama's car being made by a "foreign company", whatever that is supposed to be in our global economy.

I never said he should stay in Europe, since that would be a silly thing to say since he isn't FROM Europe.
I didn't call Obama a wimp (at least not on this subject) so there is nothing to answer on that point.
The fact that Obama's wife drives an economy car is well and good. I doubt that McCain is wasting gas since odds are that he rarely drives either of his cars or his wife's cars since he is rarely home. The fact that the whole headline is fictitious has been covered since A) only two cars are owned by him, B) one is owned by his daughter, C) several are not even cars but electric golf carts, D) the one they are making the most fun of (the Lexus with the vanity plates) isn't even owned by either John or Cindy but is owned by Cindy's company so it is a company car, E) all of this is stupid and a waste of time and energy when every time Algore jumps on his plane or Queen "B" Piglosi jumps on her Air Force Three they waste more fuel than John and Cindy could waste in a year if they drove all of those cars continuously.

So what haven't I answered? Did I neglect to point out the oxymoronic point of the statement that Obama is such a wonderful individual because HE drives a hybrid but McCain is unpatriotic because his wife owns SEVERAL hybrids which would obviously save even more money? How many ways can I say that ALL hybrids are foreign no matter Who's logo is on them since all of the patents for hybrid technology are owned by Toyota and Honda and most batteries to run them are made by Sanyo?

The bottom line is that Obama bought THE ONLY hybrid Ford offers, an SUV. A lot of people, like myself hate SUV's so the only choice we had was to buy from Honda or Toyota since they were the only ones selling couples and sedans as hybrids. My brother has driven a hybrid for many years because he is a mailman on a rural route and his hybrid saved him a fortune in gas. My one daughter is on a six month waiting list for a Honda hybrid because when she decided upon a hybrid no American company was making hybrids in anything but SUV configuration. Now American companies are coming around but FAR to slowly. FORD still only had two SUV's and their third will be from Mazda. I don't think Chrysler or Dodge even has a hybrid.
All tolled, US manufacturers are only gearing up to supply a small fraction of the hybrid market. Maybe with the McCain's in the White House, Detroit will get the message that people want hybrids that are not SUVs.

Does anyone really believe that if Bush or McCain had been born a black kid to a single mother that they would have anywhere near the power, position, prestige or wealth that they have?

But they aren't of the elite. Obama is.

Why does the McCain campaign persist in portraying the kid of an unconnected single mother as an "elitist"? Why is not Bush an elitist? Why is McCain, son of an Admiral who was son of an Admiral not an "elitist"?

I'm not a McCain spokesman. I don't know why.

Goatman-
I'd like to hear it from you.

Goatman-
Really. For whatever it's worth, I do still respect your opinion sometimes.

Bush, son of a senator, who was son of a senator: not an elitist. You'd like to have a beer with this recovering alcoholic. McCain, son of an admiral who was son of an admiral, etc.

Obama: nobody, but smart and capable.

Obama is the elitist.

I really want to hear your take on it, Goat.

I think Obama is smart, but I have severe doubts about his capability

Goatman-
That would be an interesting thought, but it doesn't answer the question regarding "elitism", and on the heels of a Bush presidency that you ratified, it comes out a bit weak.

Goatman-
Gotta turn in. Throw a piece of pre-chewed meat to Bumbles if you think of it.

Because the term "elitist"---in this context--denotes the inability of one to perceive the mainstream American experience.

Nobody wants to hear recycled Marxist horsehit about "the rich", "the poor", or "the middle class".

We're all investors, Boyd.

We have 401ks.

Especially not this week, when the "middle class" (and their not-so-middle-class children) are going to bail out Wall Street to the tune of over a trillion dollars with none of that socialist oversight you hate.

Say, Pinche-
What do you think about Paulson's plan (Bush has ceased to exist in any real sense) to also have the US (taxpayer, and their children, and their childrens' children) bail out foreign owned banks for their poor investment choices?

will it help your 401K?

Pinche-
I'd almost forgotten how repulsive you are-
re: "He is the product of a marginally-intelligent, white hippie mother who made it a point to fuck every brown-skinned "victim" who crossed her path because she knew such behavior would piss off the bourgeois norms from whence she both came and loathed."

Thanks for reminding us.

bail out foreign owned banks

I disagree with it, Boyd.

Just as I disagree with the on-going saga of "middle class" taxpayers bailing out an archaic, Keynsian "social security" system.

I diagree with public/private created entities like Fannie Mae that exist simply so that unqualified buyers may "purchase homes".

I disagree with chickenshit deflections.

Sorry, man.

I think all houses should be owned by the state. All you really need is a studio apartment.

Pinche-
re: I disagree with chickenshit deflections.

Sorry, man.

BTW. If you're going to insult someone, you should at least lay off the booze long enough to get out the dictionary.

"He is the product of a marginally-intelligent, white hippie mother who made it a point to fuck every brown-skinned "victim" who crossed her path because she knew such behavior would piss off the bourgeois norms from whence she both came and loathed."

I remember when posts from Mao were interesting, before he became a racist asshole.

I'm sure you'll put up a big fuss when the last few pieces of the American pie are carved up to save your investments, at my expense.

Do you not have a 401k, Boyd?

An IRA?

Or are such things the domain of the "hyper-rich" whose wealth has been built upon the backs of Working Class Heroes who participate on left-wing internet chatrooms on Monday nights at 1:00am?

Pinche-
re: Do you not have a 401k, Boyd?

An IRA?

This may seem odd to you, Pinche, but my investments don't really affect my desire for the taxpayer to bail my ass out.

I see you disagree.

Pinche only cares about his pocketbook. That is so sad.

Pinche-
How much should the taxpayer pay out to ensure the solvency of your choices?

A trillion?

How much, Pinche?

How much does everyone owe you?

I remember when posts from Mao were interesting, before he became a racist asshole.

Yes, yes.

You've expressed the same sentiment over and over throughout the years.

There comes a point where repeatedly expressing the "un-interesting" nature of someone's writing becomes simple self-mockery.

This may seem odd to you, Pinche, but my investments don't really affect my desire for the taxpayer to bail my ass out.

That's not what I asked.

You obviously need someone to bail your ass out, so how much will it cost me?

Surely you don't intend to argue that you were somehow duped into making foolish investments against your will.

Obviously.

Take a breath, Boyd.

Then come back and tell us what you're talking about. :)

Pinche-
Give me a round figure. Half a trillion, two trillion?

I mean, through no fault of your own you put your money into this, and the taxpayers obviously owe you. After all, you never intended to REALLY put your investments at risk, LOL!

Boyd is a baller. he has so much loot he couldn't spend all his money in 5 lifetimes.

Pinche-
No, it just seems strange that you think your investments should somehow be insulated by a taxpayer bailout when things go south. Shouldn't you have invested in gold or something?

Surely you don't intend to argue that you were somehow duped into making foolish investments against your will.

I was.

But then you foiled me with the rational firepower you've brought to the discussion.

So I'm gonna hold off on all of that...

republicans believe that everybody else should pay for their mistakes.

No, it just seems strange that you think your investments should somehow be insulated by a taxpayer bailout

But I just told you I disagreed with the bailout (See #128).

It takes a special kind of dipshit to keep building a strawman that's already ablaze.

Doesn't it?

It was that one that threw me. You are against the bailouts in theory, but for them in practice.

You like to have it both ways.

As the Industrial Revolution began, weavers and other skilled artisans resisted the new "labor-saving" machines that were costing them jobs. They smashed machines and burned factories. Such rioters in England were culled Luddites after a mythical figure, Ned Ludd, who supposedly destroyed machines in the 1780's.

It's a nice position to be in, Pinche. You can be philosophically against the taxpayer bailouts, and yet mock those who are against them as slackers with no stake in the economy.

Tidy racket you have there.

You're a dipshit, Boyd.

Seriously, man.

You're not a very good debater, either.

Go consolidate your points of view and figure out a way to present them rationally.

You need a Unified Theory of Boyd.

In the meantime, the Democrat party is going to lose another election.

You'd better go figure out why.

You never answered how much it would cost me to cover your ass to your satisfaction.

$1,000,000,000,000?

$2,000,000,000,000?

When your ass is on the line you're a socialist, Pinche. You want private profit, but socialized risk.

He's never made a genuine sacrifice for his country that wasn't a political calculation.

We talking about McCain again?

Yeah, wot a slimy elitist sack of shit that asshole is, eh?

Sorry wot's that?

His 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton was a sacrifice?

Naw, it was just a proper penance fer being a lousy pilot and not nearly enuff time fer Johnnyboy to properly appreciate his sins.

Basically, the guy spent 20 hours in the air bombing targets both military and civilian in a brutal and unneccessary war that he still thinks should have been fought longer.

Then he came back and serially cheated on his wife convincing her he was "making up fer lost time" and using his PoW status to guilt her into accepting it before dumping her.

John McCain deserves neither respect not the presidency.

Mao's repititious anti-Marxist diatribes aside, Obama is a self made man who earned it every step of the way.

McCain is a silver spoon bastard with less morals than an alleycat, less brains than a retarded chimp and is about as believable as late night no-money-down real estate ad.

Meh, either Obama wins and America has a fighting chance at a much needed course change or McLame wins and the inevitable comeuppance occurs.

The beginning of the end of the American Global economic hegemony.

Spud's good either way.

But seriously Mao, yer really starting to sound like a broken record these days.

Naw, it was just a proper penance fer being a lousy pilot and not nearly enuff time fer Johnnyboy to properly appreciate his sins.

Don't you just love it when a liberal tells you how compassionate they are in one breath then say shit like this in another.

Somehow, I think the latter tells the true side.

What a fucked up thing to say, spud. Your true colors shine brightly through again. Tell me again how much liberals luff everyone? I need the laugh after reading your fucked up post.

btw compassionate liberal spud: Just thought you'd like to know the real story behind the plane crashes McCain did his 6 years of tortore and penance for:

McCain did lose two Navy aircraft while piloting them, both due to engine failure. A third was destroyed on the deck of the carrier USS Forrestal when a missile fired accidentally from another plane hit either the plane next to McCain's or, less likely, his own aircraft, triggering a disastrous fire that killed 134 sailors and nearly killed McCain. A fourth plane was lost when he was shot down over North Vietnam on a bombing mission over Hanoi. There's no evidence that any of the four destroyed planes were lost to pilot error.

www.factcheck.org

Two engine failures, being hit by a missile from another plane on deck, and being shot down. Yep, spud, gotta agree. Six years of torture is not near enough to atone for those atrocious sins.

So keep repeating the story in the hopes that if told enough, it will become truth, just like a good little nazi, spud.

So keep repeating the story in the hopes that if told enough, it will become truth,

Oh, right, he's a former Episcopalian turned Southern Baptist.

Are we still using the North Vietnamese as enforcers of penance on our pilots? Or is that task now outsourced to Blackwater or the Syrians?

So you agree with me that spud was over the top in what he said in his 3:34.

I have to admit that I was very wrong. I did not think a fellow liberal would agree with me that he was very wrong. Though I did not put those words in print, please accept my apologies for assuming all liberals would side with spud on that horrific post of his

"I have to admit that I was very wrong."

Goat, this is not news.

Anyway, McCain didn't serve "penance" in North Vietnam.

That said, it's amazing that anyone with any sense would vote for a gezzer with a bad comb-over and arictus grin who's all but gar-an-teed to push the nation into a state of existence that falls somewhere between Purgatory and Limbo.

Goatman

You gotta read Will's column.

Something about a rock and a hard place.

Time to revise and extend my remarks: "arictus grin' should read "a rictus grin." In Jurassic John's case that would be "as in Mr. Rictus."

Goat, this is not news.

I'm not sure what you are referring to, doc. You do realize my original post was referencing this excerpt from spud's post of 3:34, don't you?

His 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton was a sacrifice?

Naw, it was just a proper penance fer being a lousy pilot and not nearly enuff time fer Johnnyboy to properly appreciate his sins.

Some people actually vote on the issues of the candidates, not hair and grins. Odd, isn't it?

"Some people actually vote on the issues of the candidates, not hair and grins. Odd, isn't it?"

He's wrong on the issues, too. Odd, isn't it?

By the way, Goat, you missed the last part of the statement you excerpted: ". . . who's all but gar-an-teed to push the nation into a state of existence that falls somewhere between Purgatory and Limbo."

I don't vote against a guy because of his comb-over, though I am a bit curious as to why; as I am with Botoxed foreheads, e.g. John Kerry and John McCain.

Nor do I vote against someone because of their rictus grin, though it's eerily reminiscent of a badly turned-out corpse.

But getting stuck between Purgatory and Limbo, you can count my vote in the "no" column.

That said, it's amazing that anyone with any sense would vote for a gezzer with a bad comb-over and arictus grin who's all but gar-an-teed to push the nation into a state of existence that falls somewhere between Purgatory and Limbo.

But if he had a great wig and was 15 years younger those results would be okay?

those are your words Doc. If those attributes are meaningless then why does it represent most of your post?

who's all but gar-an-teed to push the nation into a state of existence that falls somewhere between Purgatory and Limbo."

Nope -- I didn't miss that part, doc. Though the hair and grin are verifiable, I had not heard the prgatory and limbo part in any campaign promise.

BTW, you've stumped me. Arictus? The only thing that comes cluse to making sense on a google search is a genus of insect. Is that what you were referring to?

Just so you don't keep looking the fool.

and so what........those comments were answers to leftys who only see things one way.

have a good one

When I saw this headline I thought at first that it said "McCain owns 13 cats..."

he could donate 12 to the bailout and still get
around

LackofSense,

Your ignorance of facts would be stunning to anyone but we who see your stupidity on a daily basis.

You are obviously an ultra left winger since instead of intelligent argument you offer gratuitous insults of those who offer views you disagree with. So I am proud to be labeled a "Dush Bag" by you. By the way, just what is a "Dush Bag"?
It doesn't exist in the American dictionary.
I also checked THIRTY foreign dictionaries and none of them contain the word either.

I DID find the word DUSHI, but it isn't actually a word. It is the name of a District in Afghanistan. It is about 80 miles from the capital of Kabul. Manybe you are confusing me with Joe "Hairplugs for Men" Biden? After all it was about 6-700 miles from there where his helicopter was "attacked" by a sneak terrorist snowstorm attack and forced to land and defend his group with snowballs from attack by the Taliban (as well as a security contingent and a F-16 air cover canopy.

So I don't know if you just misspelled the word Dushi or are inventing a new word since DUSH doesn't exist in the 31 languages I have checked.

But that is neither here nor there. Your obvious lack of a responding argument and a feeble attempt at insulting me shows more about yourself than it does about me.

Perhaps douchebag was already taken, either that or you don't know squat about the character count restrictions in state-issued vanity plates. I also find it tres amusing that you spent all that time and energy looking up an obviously mis-spelled word just so you'd have something to piss and moan about.

I also adore the lame attempt to somehow splice a Biden slam into your disjointed jibber jabber. You could always drag out the lipstick-on-a-pig meme. Any talking point in a storm, eh? In the end, the egg is on your face. (insert muted trumpet cue...wah wah wah waaaa)

It's only relevant because Barack and Michelle Obama have been called elitist by the Republican propaganda machine. Not elitist and just plain folk are those who own 9 houses, 13 cars and spend $300,000 on an outfit for the Republican convention.

True believers in any cause can be made to swallow anything whole, regurgitate it, chew it over and refeed themselves with it so that they believe whatever their party machine tells them to believe. Someone once wrote a book about such absolute thought control. It was called 1984.

I wonder how many cars Franklin Rains and Jim Johnson own? Maybe we should ask Obama.

LackofSense,
"Jowels McCain has a family private jet too".

Ah, another gratuitous attack, this time on the candidate. No need to figure if you are ultra liberal or not!

By the way, to keep YOU from looking even more foolish, the plane McCain flies on is NOT a "family plane". It is owned by his wife's business. Thousands of businesses own airplanes that they use to save money or time in doing business.
He pays her business for the use of the business's plane when he uses it. He pays a lot of money for the use of that plane, probably over a million bucks by now.

It is a Cessna Citation Excel. Cost per hour of flight = $860 with eight passengers aboard.

Obama has a leased Boeing 737-800 which burns 850 gallons of aviation fuel per hour at a cost of between $4.00-5.50 per gallon. So an hour of flight time on Obama's plane costs between $3,200-$4,625 just for fuel alone. Other operating costs (pilot, mtce, equipment wear and tear, depreciation) runs $1,670 per hour. So an hour of flight time on Obama's plane costs about $4,870-$6,295. That is between $4,000 and $5,400+ more than an hour on McCain's plane.

As to Pelosi, She wants to use a C-32, the military equivalent of the Boeing 757-200 that costs $32,000 per hour to fly because she wants to fly back to her district non-stop and the C-20 that she now uses can't do that. It was good enough for the Republican Speaker but not the Queen "B". So if she gets the C-32, every trip home will cost the taxpayers OVER A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS round trip.

As for Algore, savior of our planet, his Gulfstream II jet generates OVER 50,000 pounds of CO2 on just one of his left coast trips. If you drive your car 20,000 miles per year then ONE of Algore's left coast trips generated as much CO2 as you do driving for TWO and ONE-HALF YEARS....
Obviously Obama's jet generates as much CO2 flying one hour as you would driving 2 1/3 years/ So if he flew the same trip as Algore did, it would equal over 20 years of your driving your car.
Since a person generates an average of 122 pounds of CO2 per day, Obama's jet generates as much CO2 in one hour of flight as a person does in ONE YEAR. So in 80 hours in the air, Obama generates as much CO2 as one person living a lifetime of 80 years.

Well Dutch46,

First, I know about letter restrictions on vanity plates.

Second, maybe it would take you a long time to research an obviously misspelled word but it only took a few seconds for me. I just needed to verify that what I said was true, unlike most folks around here. Plus I learned about just where Dushi actually was in the world. Ulike Obama, I know facts like there are only 50 states, not 59 and KY is closer to Tenn than Arkansas is, as well as that Ceasar Chavez took over his country while Clinton (whom I voted for both times he ran for President, so I am not a neo-con) was President and not George W Bush.

Of course his defenders will say it was a gaff but Dan Quayle (not the brightest bulb to start out with) was roasted for YEARS because he used the incorrect spelling for potato.

Yet Obama thanks audiences from the wrong cities and even had his pilot land in the wrong city, missing his speech entirely and nobody says anything about his stupidity.

Isn't it scary that I am more intelligent than NOBama? I certainly can make better speeches and probably can teach Constitutional Law better than he can as well. I certainly can teach about computers better than he can while he makes fun of McCain's computer illiteracy since I have taught computer programming for 40 years.

As to the Biden remark, it was poking fun at him. The "defending them with snowballs remark" wasn't mine. I stole it from John Kerry who said it because even he though it was funny that Biden tried to make it out to be a scary situation when it was no more scary than when I got snowed in in Vancouver BC.

Third,
I knew what NoneSense was calling me. You left wingers really do need to het a sense of humor. You will need it when Obama sets up his Gulags...

Last, but not least, why are you so against people who actually research the facts? I know Obama Robots don't have too many brains, but they have to at least have some... though reading some of the posts around here, I wonder if they really do.
