Disagree. My advice is for those who can, get some sheep and raise and slaughter them yourself. It is quite rewarding to have animals on your property. You see the life cycle, babies born, but you know you are going to eat them, which makes it all sobering-- as life should be every now and then.

I usually slaughter about ten to twenty sheep a year-- about five are for myself for personal consumption. The others are usually for Christians or Muslims doing the Eid or Easter thing. Also some neighbors and I go in on belted galloway or murray gray beef cows and split them up two or four ways. Those cows i am partial to because they are naturally hornless so they are easier to deal with when you need to slaughter them.

I tried my hand at chickens a few years back but they aren't interesting to me, though having a few around to lay eggs is nice. With sheep and goats there's a bit more personality there. I also raise rabbits and they are good for stews as well, and they are cute.

I do go out and get a deer every now and then, though my aim has suffered recently. I am not real partial to deer becausde I have more problems cleaning them. the blood is more difficult to remove whereas a sheep you can cut the throat and let the still beating heart do the work fro you and drain all the blood. From there cleaning is a snap and usually takes about an hour.

Deer meat is good as jerky if you are a big fan of worcestershire sauce as I am.

As an ex Republican voter I can not understand we so many Republicans try to deny global warming.The consensus is around the world that it exists--fighting it wil get you nowhere.
