Alaskan allies of John McCain are trying to derail an investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner, who she's accused of ousting after he wouldn't fire her former brother in law, a state trooper involved in a custody battle with Palin's sister.

"In a move endorsed by the McCain campaign Friday, John Coghill, the GOP chairman of the state House Rules Committee, wrote a letter seeking a meeting of Alaska's bipartisan Legislative Council in order to remove the Democratic state senator in charge of the so-called "troopergate" investigation."

"French, the Democrat overseeing the probe, has hired a special counsel to determine, in effect, whether Palin "used her public office to settle a private score," he recently said. He has also suggested that the probe may turn up evidence that state laws were violated by Palin's aides because they pulled confidential personnel files on the trooper.

But Coghill, who told NEWSWEEK that he has the backing of Republican Speaker of the House John Harris in his effort to remove French, suggested Friday that the investigation into Palin's firing of Monegan should be shut down entirely. "If this has been botched up the way it has, there's a question as to whether it should continue," Coghill told NEWSWEEK.:

"The move underscored the huge political stakes in the outcome of a legislative investigation that is being closely monitored by both the McCain and Obama campaigns because of its potential impact on the fall election. "How can this possibly be read as anything but a partisan attempt to shut down a legitimate investigation that was approved and funded with bipartisan support?" said one state Democratic legislative aide, who asked not to be identified because of the political sensitivities. Coghill told NEWSWEEK that he decided to write his letter to strip French of his position on his own-without any coaxing by McCain campaign officials.

But a top McCain campaign official acknowledged that the GOP lawyer had given the campaign a "heads up" about his letter and that the McCain campaign approved of the effort to remove French."

Palin can order those who are to testify under threat of termination.

I thought she was a 'reformer' who welcomed the investigation as late as this August?

I thought McCain was for justice and the law?

This is the ONLY way they can operate?

More of the Bush Administration's 'never testify' strategy to avoid charges.

Same old same old GOP. Talk a good talk. Run when needed from the truth.

"One major reason the probe is so sensitive is that it raises the prospect that Governor Palin's credibility could be called into a question in a major state probe on the eve of the election.

When the "troopergate" story broke over the summer, Palin adamantly denied that anybody in her administration exerted any pressure on Monegan to fire Wooten. But only weeks later, a tape recording surfaced in which another one of her top aides, Frank Bailey, was heard telling a police lieutenant, "Todd and Sarah are scratching their heads, 'Why on earth hasn't this, why is this guy [Wooten] still representing the department?'"

Bailey is now refusing to testify although Palin can fire him for failing to comply. Will she?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!

This story is something to keep an eye on. If in fact anybody with the McCain/Palin ticket tries to obstruct justice into this matter, that is something that should alarm every American fed up with typical criminal political cover-ups and favoritism. At least Scooter Libby had to go to trial and be convicted before the matter was swept under the rug.

Really MODER8

Obstruction of justice is on the list of the Bush Administration's tactics that have created grave distrust for them. A long list.

how did the republicans get so powerful? Secondly when will the Dems fight back. why is Obama keeping his mouth shut? Why isn't Biden slamming her 24/7?? Didn't they learn from Kerry?

This is just more tactics by the GOP. Like choosing her in the first place. Keeping her hidden all the time and not allowing her any interviews which she might slip and say something. Now the media if they go after the story will seem to be picking on her. If Obama goes after her he is fighting down instead of hitting MCCain. If Biden goes after her he's picking on a woman.

Maybe the media will grow some balls and point to the deception, even Nixon had his watergate. We can only hope.

Nice job of vetting.

McSame's decision making process in full view.

Bomb bomb bomb, Bomb Iran....

As I understand the issue, Palin wanted the trooper fired because he tasered her young nephew. She fired his boss because he wouldn't do it. That's solid grounds for firing even if it wasn't her nephew. This is going nowhere.

"This is going nowhere."

But it's such great amusement watching my little leftist-socialist friends scurry around. You know, the main reason I want Obama to lose is so that I'll have four more years of watching their antics on the DR. What would they have to bitch about if he should win? It's MUCH more fun this way.

That just says it all, doesn't it?

You know, the main reason I want Obama to win is so that eight years of disgusting immoral and unbelievably inept government will end.

It's MUCH more fun this way. You know.

Then you have a partial understanding of the issue. Use "the google" and find the trooper's side of the story, and the fact that he was disciplined in the matter.

That's solid grounds for understanding Palin was overreaching in domestic dispute.

Clearly she was utilizing her office in an inappropriate manner which speaks of how she would act in higher office. Utilizing position for Personal gain.

Wrong Zap. Tasaring a little boy was more than a domestic dispute. I know in my state of NJ that troopers are routinely fired for conduct like that. There is no doubt that Palin's had first hand knowledge of the incident with all the details. She can prove that the conduct of the trooper in of itself was grounds for firing and that his boss was derelict in his duty.

Say what? Elected officials aren't allowed to use the power of the government to punish relatives on their shit list. It's an abuse of power. Clearly, Palin's going to be found in the wrong here. It's just a matter of whether the Repubs can delay it until after the election or not.

From what I've read (and it could be wrong) - he didn't "taser" the boy - he hooked him up to the thing and delivered a small shock (which he should not have done, obviously), but let's find out what actually happened before rushing to Sarah P's defense.

There is no doubt that Palin's had first hand knowledge of the incident with all the details.

If her ex-brother-in-law Wooten did all of these terrible things the Palins accused him of, where's the criminal record? Why's he still working as a state trooper?

This sounds to me like trumped-up accusations that sprang from an ugly divorce. As a person who's been watching a close relative's divorce, I can testify to the amount of completely bullshit accusations that get thrown around by one or both parties.

Whats to derail? The man tazed a ten year old boy.. her own nephew.

If that isn;t a firing offense I don't know what is.

OH so they should only be fired if they DON'T know elected officials? ANd hat would you say to that? protection! She is corrupt!

Bull. Theman tazed a child. Irregardless of whose child it is, he should be fired. Issued department equipment is not for anything but being used in the line of duty... that alone is a firing offense...hurting a child? That is fireable and jailable.

From what I've read (and it could be wrong) - he didn't "taser" the boy - he hooked him up to the thing and delivered a small shock (which he should not have done, obviously), but let's find out what actually happened before rushing to Sarah P's defense.

Yeah sure. And water boarding is not torture.

Why's he still working as a state trooper?

That's a good question. I don't know for sure, but it could be because the date for a hearing hasn't been set.

All Sarah has to do is make the rounds of the Sunday Morning News interview shows and set the story straight.

If she cant sit in and mix it up with the big time press, she may be charming in a backwoods mentality way, but she isnt ready to be one John McSame heartbeat away from the presidency.

She must own her past and let us see her under the same scrutiny as the boys.

If she cant speak to the press she is a little girl tryin to live in the adult womans world.

Read my post ... I didn't defend tasering. I questioned whether or not it really WAS tasering. According to the report I read, EVERYONE - INCLUDING the boy, were laughing about it afterward. I'm NOT saying I believe that report, but I haven't heard the whole story, and, unike you, I'm not willing to draw hard conclusions.

Why's he still working as a state trooper?

If you admit you don't know the facts, what are you talking about? He was already disciplined for this - it was apparently regarded as a minor issue at the time, so I'm not ready to condemn the guy just yet.

That's solid grounds for firing even if it wasn't her nephew.

Bullshit. She wanted him fired because he was pissing off her sister. The trooper, dipshit that he was, had already been throught the official discipline process.
The Palins just didn't like it. Ray, if you ever go through a divorce, just believe everything your wife claimed you did, and it'll go great for you.
Palin also fired Mosseville's libraria (reinstated) and police chief because they wouldn't go along with her.

Can you say Plame? Federal Prosecutors? Gen. Shineski?
Sure you can.

If she's got nothing to hide, why the stonewalling?
McSame fucked up big-time on this call.

And if you believe that he hasn't yet had a hearing but should be fired anyway, then you are a moron.

I assume then that we can agree that the trooper's conduct was grounds for firing if he did in fact taser the boy, not discipline.

And if you believe that he hasn't yet had a hearing but should be fired anyway, then you are a moron.

Okay asshole, if you want to get into childish name calling. Parlin could argue that the hearing was tainted by the influence of the trooper's boss.

Grounds for firing, absolutely, but not everyone who could be fired is fired - some are disciplined - and I don't necessarily think it's the governor's role to step in ... ESPECIALLY when it involves and obvious conflict of interest like this one does. I'll wait for the facts, unless the McCain campaign succeeds in any attempt to prevent the facts from emerging.

And I don't really know how someones's boss could "taint" a hearing. It seems that the governor herself could "taint" the hearing, since it involved a former family member.

And if you believe that he hasn't yet had a hearing but should be fired anyway, then you are a moron.

Is a hearing necessary to fire you?

We can argue about this all day and get nowhere. I predict that because of pressure on the national level, this will get swept under the rug.

Is a hearing necessary to fire you?

#34 | Posted by eberly

For troopers, a hearing is necessary procedure.

"Grounds for firing, absolutely, but not everyone who could be fired is fired.."

Right...and some who shouldn't be fired ARE fired...Travelgate, for instance. The situation here is, did he or did he not taze the kid. If he did, he should be gone. You have already admitted it's grounds for firing. It's really pretty simple.

You know, the main reason I want Obama to lose is so that I'll have four more years of watching their antics on the DR. What would they have to bitch about if he should win? It's MUCH more fun this way.

Country First? You are pathetic..

jest you should be water boarded for treasonous statements like that.

As I understand the issue, Palin wanted the trooper fired because he tasered her young nephew. She fired his boss because he wouldn't do it.
~Ray

I'm sure she wasn't using that just as an excuse for "screwing" the guy (because she could) that was involved in a messy divorce and custody case with her sister.

"how did the republicans get so powerful? Secondly when will the Dems fight back. why is Obama keeping his mouth shut? Why isn't Biden slamming her 24/7?? Didn't they learn from Kerry?"

Apparently you don't really know too much about Obama. If he opens his mouth his own history will be exposed as well!

"If he opens his own mouth his history will be exposed as well...."

Well, thanks for the admission Palin HAS a history. But I'm curious. What will be said about Obama that will be harsher than he has faced to date?

Why doesn't Obama attack Palin now? I think he's trying to evade the trap of seeming to talk bad about a little lady.

Yes, that would be the same little lady that brags she's as tough as any man. But the Republicans will howl about the "disrespect".

Me? I say choose the right time and gut Palin, perhaps the most transparently dishonest candidate for VP we have ever had. Obama is smart enough to seem to be a gentleman about it.

I would think in this case (or in any case where someone is accused of doing something he may not have done), I would certainly hope so, in order to determine whether or not he actually did it. If it were for incompetence, etc., then there would be a record of that.

I'm not defending him, but Sarah P has a record of trying to get people fired, so I certainly have no problem believing she would use her power inappropriately.

WHY PALIN FIRED MONEGAN: Monegan was a Palin appointee, and she had a right to fire him for any reason. She's previously refused to say exactly why she got rid of him, but laid out several reasons Wednesday, saying she's decided to talk about it because Monegan is. ...especially since it doesn't mean anything if I say that the main reason I want Obama to lose is so I can have the satisfaction of watching all the lefties on the DR whine for the next four years and NOT because I think that the country needs a new direction after eight years of deplorable, inept and incompetent (I am ashamed to call it) leadership.

JGA

If only McCain's handlers could hide the truth as well as Saddam hid his WMD.

Once again

The left oozes failure and hypocrisy

This trooper reportedly was a drunk, wife and child abuser of some dgree, practised bad police procedure and should have been jailed, it just happened to be aginast her sister. Do any of you lefties have any sisters that have been abused? so if the reports are true he was being protected by someone. Which the left cries about all the time, when it happend in LA, they burned the city.

So they left drops it banner of "Police are bad, we must protect women and children and those who protect bad police officers must be punished". To pick up the banner.'Nevermind, that only applies to liberals'

way to go LIBS, you have proved yourselves again

And yes

I am not a big McCain fan, I do think Sarah Palin is the actual "change agent' and love her. the only reason I hope Obama loses , so I can see the hateful left go nuts and whine and cry and see how many times they use the word "fascist, nazi, Christian nut, and all those wonderful "tolerant" descriptors.

It is going to be hilarious if Mccain wins

In other words, the lefty's faux umbrage is giving Palin more ammunition to embarrass them with.

I love how all you Righties are ignoring the fact that Palin is trying to rearrange the system up there now so that the whole matter is handled by people she appointed rather than the normal procedure.

No whitewash there, nope nope. Nothing to see, right?

It is going to be hilarious if Mccain wins

With Israel soon to attack Iran, Pakistan getting more pissed with every US killing of their citizens and the Russians starting to push back, I don't think so. The only case for Obama is that McCain is more scary than him.

I have to laugh at Palin being "the real agent of change". That she will be as protected from hard questions as much as the Republicans say she will over the next two months suggests they view her as more of an exotic animal than anything else.

"...especially since it doesn't mean anything if I say that the main reason I want Obama to lose is so I can have the satisfaction of watching all the lefties on the DR whine for the next four years.."

But I love it...great entertainment. You like to watch American Idol and the reality shows, I like to watch my little friends on the DR. That makes us even.

I'm for "hope and change." I've always been for hope and change. That makes me an intelligent and responsible American, doesn't it? I feel confident that there will be "change" next January and I "hope" it'll be good. I'm sure that you and the rest of my little friends will continue to provide quality amusement either way.

Sorry to tell you Jest, you might as well be hoping for Jesus to return. The political system is what it is with both parties competing for the role of Terminator. It won't be good. If anything it will be bad. Very bad.

Well, ray---If Jesus did return I could guarantee both hope and change. You could invite Him over for coffee and He could smile indulgently as you described the advantages of precious metals.

I love when you do that and again, show your concern for the country is a fascase that you hide behind to get your guy elected to "punish" the bad rich and give their hard fought gains to you for doing the difficult task of sitting in your mom's basement, smoking pot and complaining how 'unfair' the country is.

what a pathetic bunch

and as always

"Arise my hillbilly brotheren..for the jihad is upon us!!"

Well, ray---If Jesus did return I could guarantee both hope and change. You could invite Him over for coffee and He could smile indulgently as you described the advantages of precious metals.

Well Zed, in case you don't know, Palin is a dispensationalist. Like Amadinejad, she too is hoping for a war to end all wars.

Jesus tells us we must be poor on earth to have riches in heaven. If Jesus came back, I would tell him to go fuck himself. Go tend to the needs of the poor you screwed.

Horsecrap of the highest order. Utter ridiculousness.

The bosswouldn;t do his job so she fired him. You are trying to dress this non-issue up to suit your needs.

The FACT remains he violatd two oaths:

1) not to use his issued equipment for anything other than performance of his duties

2) He used a WEAPON on a child.

Both are fireable offenses. Period.

Read into it how you like about "oh the boss knows his job" But she was his bosses boss and SHE knows her job as well. AN her job does NOT involve allowing troopers to remain in uniform when they show such a stunning dispaly of poor judgement and reckless endangerment.

If you found out an NYPD officer had done this to his own child you would be screaming from the rafters..but because it is politically convenient for you, you shrill baout what a great man this trooper must really be and what a gian tmistake it all is.

She fired a political appointee. She needs no excuse or due process.

There was a more trivial case in NYC where Bloomberg was touring a facility and caught a city employee playing video games. Bloomberg fired him on the spot.

This is much ado about nothing.

"If Jesus came back I would tell him to go fuck Himself...."

Everyone chooses, Ray.

ZAP is entirely right, Capt. Independent is all wrong---That Gidget has such a hatred of due process tells you all you need to know about her.

Most cops get a slap on the wrist for putting 25 slugs into an unarmed man in a poor neighborhood or shoving a broom handle up a prisoners ass in a police station restroom. Hundreds of unarmed people are shot dead every year, some just for turning their backs and running. Fact is, if you reach for your wallet, that is reason enough top be shot dead.

Politicians and Judges implicitly understand they depend on the cops to maintain their balance of power.

There are hundreds of events like CPTindependent mentioned every year. They always create a local uproar when people realize their lives are worth nothing. But, virtually all go unpunished, except for Kangaroo Court Sessions designed to buy time and cool of the public, and none catch the attention of a Governor. Palin targeted this guy as a favor for her sister.

By the way, I don't think the trooper involved is a "great man" in anyway---The point is Palin is pretty much on his level.

What I don't understand is the fact that, before being selected as McCain's running mate, Palin issued an ethics complaint agains herself on this matter thus initiating the investigation. Now that she's running for VP, she is doing everything to stall it.

"As I understand the issue, Palin wanted the trooper fired because he tasered her young nephew. She fired his boss because he wouldn't do it. That's solid grounds for firing even if it wasn't her nephew. This is going nowhere."

Then why are they putting forth an effort to stall the investigation?

Won't we all "understand the issue" better once all the claims are investigated?

What I don't get about this whole things is: Why weren't the police called when the state trooper in question tasered the kid or threatened the Palin's family or at any other point when the guy was breaking laws? Then you have a DOCUMENTED reason to fire him. Assuming these incidents are the real motive behind the wanting him to lose his job, it really doesn't make sense to me that you wouldn't document anything but instead demand the guy be fired based on your word. It doesn't seem to me like it is reasonable to ask the public safety commish to fire a state trooper over undocumented accusations when you obviously have a personal interest in all this.

Combine that with the undermining of the investigation and something doesn't smell right.

There are hundreds of events like CPTindependent mentioned every year. They always create a local uproar when people realize their lives are worth nothing. But, virtually all go unpunished, except for Kangaroo Court Sessions designed to buy time and cool of the public, and none catch the attention of a Governor. Nice defelction job but you are talking about two different issues.

1) Police officers hsoot unarmed suspects all the time..... because they believe them at the time to be armed and that their lives are in danger... The reason they aren't punished is becuase they shouldn;t be. The laws on the books are that a police officer must be judged based on the information he had at the time and the situation presented to him at the time. The beauty of hindsight is irrelevant.

2) A governor that chose to do the right thing in terminating a police officer for committing a CRIME that had nothing to do with exigent circumstances.

SHe was in a no win situation. Do nothing and get accused of protecting this scumbag police officer, or do somehting about it and make sure he doesn't do something as stupid or worse in the future. If she did nothign and the cop drank on duty and wrecked his car..or something equally stupid everyone would wonder why she didn't so something sooner.

Sorry guys, but you are 100% clearly wrong.

If you could drop the partisan bickering for ten econds you would know this to be true.

"Do nothing and get accused of protecting this scumbag police officer, or do somehting about it and make sure he doesn't do something as stupid or worse in the future. If she did nothign and the cop drank on duty and wrecked his car..or something equally stupid everyone would wonder why she didn't so something sooner."

But you are pretending that her only two choices are 1) Do nothing or 2) Use you permission as governor to get the guy fired while offering no evidence of your accusations.

That isn't even close to an honest appraisal of the situation.

"Use you permission as governor"

Huh? Use your position as governor...

Put yourself in the position of the public safety comissioner:

Do you fire a guy based solely on accusations from his ex-wife's family?

And if you decide not to, do you deserve to be fired for it?

So here is the scuttle on the Palin "affair" and those divorce papers.

right-thinking.com

and here

swinging and missing--

"A governor that chose to do the right thing in terminating a police officer for committing a CRIME that had nothing to do with exigent circumstances."

Based solely on the word of Palin, her sister and their father. All you white washers keep forgetting (or ignoring) this inconvenient fact. From what I've read, all these allegations didn't surface UNTIL the divorce started. That seems more like a personal vendetta than an official concern.

Also, if the official investigation is complete and his punishment received, why is this not enough for the Repubs (who usually side with the official investigations...)? Probably because in that scenario, Palin is in the wrong and it won't bode well for her candidacy.

No JPW....there is truely little 'The Barracuda' (fuck Heart) can do to lessen the respect she has earned from the true Americans (conservatives).... after bashing the fraudulent losers you and the other socialists have chosen to vainly and blindly follow. Where were you during 'Travelgate' dickbeat?

Palin has a history of firing people who supported political opponents or wouldn't agree to a 'loyalty oath'. Sound familiar?

She fired the police chief in Wasilla because he supported her opponent for mayor. She fired the librarian in Wasilla for the same reason, and because she wouldn't agree to ban books - most of them Disney types. Only after an outcry by the town was that order rescinded.

She keeps lists of 'political enemies'.

The 'tasering' incident was actually at the request of her nephew, who was laying on pillows and laughed after it. Was the trooper wrong to do it? Absolutely. But, to claim he just randomly shot him with a taser is ridiculous.

After stating in July and August that she'd cooperate completely with the Legislature's investigation, suddenly she's not ordering her staffer to testify and fighting this investigation tooth and nail.

If she has nothing to hide what's the big deal?

Hmmmmmmm?

So Palin is just another petty vindictive politician. Why aint I surprised...

"there is truely little 'The Barracuda' (fuck Heart) can do to lessen the respect she has earned from the true Americans (conservatives)"

LOL right. You "conservatives" have done a real bang up job the past eight years. For some reason I'm betting you only got as far as the "R" after her name for her to "earn" your respect.
Oh and fuck you. You wouldn't know a true American if they kicked you in the ass.

"after bashing the fraudulent losers you and the other socialists have chosen to vainly and blindly follow."

You don't have a clue what politician(s) I support, but if you want to think you do so you can bash that instead of addressing my actual post, go right ahead. It only shows how intellectually vacuous you, like oh so many "conservatives," really are.

"Where were you during 'Travelgate' dickbeat?"

Who cares? We're talking about Troopergate, dickbeat.

"You don't know shit about what "Being a governor" makes her "

Probably not, but I know what it means to inherit a balanced budget and leave a massive deficit, and I understand the significance of saying "I told Congress thanks, but no thanks" when truly, she didn't even say "thanks"; instead she kept the money, and now pretends she was against it all along. I also know she wanted books banned from the library, and doesn't believe in abortion even in the case of rape, although she referred to her daughter's decision as a "choice". And I know the possibility of a 72yr-old who has battled malignant melanomas four times has a reasonable chance of dying within the next four years, which seems to be the evangelical's plan:

Elect McCain and hope he croaks.

It seems pretty evident to me that Palin is exactly guilty as charged.

If she weren't guilty, she would take a lie detector test and tell everyone to go fuck themselves. Police administer lie detector tests to suspected criminals all the time--if the suspect passes the test--the cops take them off suspect list.

That McCain joins Palin in trying to cover up Troopergate shows just how much the McCain camp thinks about due process and American justice. It is a continuation of cover ups and lies that have been the norm for the last 8 years. We don't need four more years of lies and cover ups.

But you are pretending that her only two choices are 1) Do nothing or 2) Use you permission as governor to get the guy fired while offering no evidence of your accusations.

That isn't even close to an honest appraisal of the situation.

Really? what were her other choices? Consult a magic 8 ball?

She could do something about it or not. She chose to do womehting about it.

I find that doing something always takes more courage than doing nothing.

The trooper in question got his suspension along the lines any other trooper would.

Firing would not have been on the table for someone else had they not been embroiled in a messy divorce from Madame Governor's sister.

End of story

"Really? what were her other choices? Consult a magic 8 ball?"

No. I've posted it already. When you find out a grown man tasered and 11 year old, you call the cops. When he makes death threats against your family, you do the same.

"She could do something about it or not. She chose to do womehting about it."

You can do things the right way or you can try to get the guy fired through backroom dealings. Once you decide to do things the scuzzy way your motives come into question.

"I find that doing something always takes more courage than doing nothing."

And doing things the right way takes more courage than using your power to intimidate someone else into firing the guy based solely on hearsay.

"She could do something about it or not. She chose to do womehting about it."

CPT,
The question, at least in my mind, is was it her JOB to get involved? Are governors usually involved in disciplinary actions of state troopers? Is it usually the business of governors to get personally involved in the runnings of law enforcement agencies?

If the answers to those questions are no, then any involvement on her part beyond the filing of reports should be viewed suspiciously. If the answer is yes, well then this is just an over blown story.

But it's such great amusement watching my little leftist-socialist friends scurry around. You know, the main reason I want Obama to lose is so that I'll have four more years of watching their antics on the DR. What would they have to bitch about if he should win? It's MUCH more fun this way.

That's funny coming from a right-wing shit-stain like yourself.

Your party had the House, Senate & WH for 6 years and you still hold the WH.....and you ass-clowns have done nothing but bitch and whine over everything.

Don't forget shit-stain, it's still your failure-in-chief that that runs the country.....but don't let that stop you from blaming EVERYONE else!

Really? what were her other choices? Consult a magic 8 ball?

She should have done what she would have done if she weren't Governor. If the Trooper broke the law report him--otherwise--STFU. She should have done what you would have done if the same thing happened in your family.

Another stupid ass leftie who thinks they are some constitutional scholar.

ROTFLMAO

This from a guy who would go absolutely ballistic if anyone tried to brand him.

If the McCain-Palin ticket is nominated this country will definitley find its way into either a deep, deep recession or another war with Iran because of fucking Israel and the Neocons that pull the strings. There is no getting around this other than voting for Obama, so we DON'T get another 4 years of McBush politics. The more I read about this crazy psycho Palin, the more im afraid of her policies and stand on issues. This country is truly becoming divided.

I know in my state of NJ that troopers are routinely fired for conduct like that.

I only read the comments up untill this one, and I'd kind of like to know how many times per week this happens in New Jersey? Per month? Per year? I'd like links to stories about New Jersey troopers being fired for tasering little boys and the like, since it's such a common thing.

but let's find out what actually happened before rushing to Sarah P's defense.

Ironically, we're supposed to find out what actually happened before rushing to declare someone guilty, and until then they're assumed innocent.

But as long as they're in the other party, don't let that stop you.

Mike Wooten?

"Mike Wooten?"

Wooten was investigated prior to Palin's term as governor, and found to have tasered a boy, among other things. We already know what actually happened with him.

Were you trying to make some kind of point?

Alaskan allies of John McCain are trying to derail an investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner, who she's accused of ousting . . .

* * * *

"WHOM she's accused of ousting", should be. It's always been painful to read 'blogs read by only a few dozen people. Now it's Newsweek.

As to the story, let's bring it into the open. There's a good chance that America will rally around a brother in law who tasered his stepson, repeatedly threatened his wife, and was guilty of two dozen procedural and legal violations over the past three years. It's also possible that they'll rally around his supervisor who protected him, and did nothing about it.

Or, it's possible tens of millions of American women will see this as another instance where Palin stood up to the good ol' boy network, and used her office to protect her family. Time will tell. The question is: what side will the liberals take?

I think I already know. Another reason Obama's been getting headaches.

"As to the story, let's bring it into the open."

I agree. Let's stop with the backroom dealings that Palin prefers and have an investigation.

More to come....

yes,lets...
