During John McCain's acceptance speech Thursday, a giant screen behind him showed video of Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, Calif., an odd choice that raised questions about whether his campaign thought it was Walter Reed Medical Center in D.C.

If you were like me and were watching John McCain's speech at the Republican National Convention - you might have wondered what does that building behind John McCain have to do with what he was talking about.

Apparently no one knows.

Walter Reed Middle School has said the image was used without permission, and they do not approve of its use.

"It wasn't Walter Reed Army Medical Center. What was it though"

The Veterans of the War of the Spanish Succession Retirement Home?

Now that's pretty fucking funny!!!

Who in the hell is in charge over in the McCain camp?

What an idiot!

Do they vet ANYTHING?

Just cannot get good help nowadays.

Oops!

Poor dumb intern.

The Gang That Couldn't Shoot A Picture Straight.

HA HA

The video's a great compliment to the story, Rogers. Thanks!

It was actually his realtor who fucked up.

She promised she wouldn't leak house #8 to the press, but evidently the temptation was too great.

Hilarious blunder. I'd say this was bush league, but McCain promised change.

That screen looked like a giant screensaver, and the images were just as random. I wouldn't have been surprised to see flying toasters behind McCain as the screen, like most of the crowd, went to sleep.

Same decision making process that choise Palin.

More viewers watched McCain than Obama... and as far as the backdrop, seems to me the RNC was pretty frugal on spending verses that giant Amway convention at Mile High!

lol Nice try. McCain followed the football game (I didn't even change th channel), and most of them probably fell asleep during the speech, like I almost did.

I did fall asleep. It's the first acceptance speech I can remember where I didn't make it to the end *and* watch all the post-speech commentary. I'd love to see the ratings of the number of viewers who made it to the end conscious.

another non-story

Maybe it was the 17 beers you had from the game that put you to sleep and it WAS carried on other channels bsides the game... but facts are over 38 million watched... ... and did you know Fox had the largest audience? Of course, now we'll dispell the facts and make something else up, huh?

That speech was so painful and dull, i gave myself a root canal with a rusty hand drill just to feel something less pleasant.

I wish i was one of those guys that knows how to mock up a video. i'd take McSame video and impose the sound from the johnny cash hurt video.

I wasn't talking about the other channels - I was talking about the game. Do you SERIOUSLY think that the number of people whose TV sets were on at the end of that game didn't inffluence the ratings that were recorded for the speech? Good grief man you can be that simpleminded.

When I saw the green screen behind McCain--I was yelling --what are you doing!!! lol

Then they backed up the camera and they showed that house--it was goofy.

For Mac--this was probably one of his better speeches--especially the end--because he was done..

Heh, heh, and not a word about the pillar parlor that obama used, trying to equate the token of the left to a Greek god. the clown is a worthless liberal, with no direction, or leadership skills.

If they can get their anti-terrorism techiques from watching 24, why can't they get their speech backdrops from aaron sorkin?

Rightnut has spoken - and exposed his intellect.

Criticize Obama all you want to, but to say he has no leadership skills proves you to be someone not to be taken seriously when discussing issues on a factual level.

But don't worry, that is not a change in circumstances for most of us.

So were they trying to equate McCain to a high school principal?

Not that you find columns like those in any buildings in DC.....

dumb, dumb, dumb.

Wow Rightnut. You seem to have no education concerning the influence of Greek ideals (not to mention architecture) on our nation's government.

Or are you just that desperate?

No, Junior High apparently.

Heh, heh, and not a word about the pillar parlor that obama used ...

That talking point is so stupid -- the right wingers took pictures of the stage before it was done and spun themselves into a frenzy. It didn't look anything like Greek columns during the speech. It looked like the White House.

exactly, Rcade. But the Right-wingers have no substance, and they are really grasping at straws to prop up their straw man and straw woman.

It was just a generic file photo as were very many others, you silly ponies.

Wow. Talk about amateur hour. A picture that's worth a thousand words. How did they make a blunder on something so obvious as his backdrop? Especially in this day and age. Now THAT'S incompetence. I can already imagine the fun comedian's are gonna be having with this guy's campaign.

Even without this boneheaded blunder, I was amazed that the production values at the RNC were so crappy. Putting up clip art and video behind the speakers? Even a crappy local TV station puts more time into their graphics than that.

It was a perfect ending.

This was the same convention where the CHAIRWOMAN called her Sarah Pawlenty.

And here I thought that Republicans had proven these last few years that they were as inclined to decoration as anyone.....

And here I thought I was hearing things. Thanks, Ted!

Kind of like obammys attendance figures in Berlin right mid?

www.breitbart.com

KFI in SoCal reported today the McCain campaign said it wasn't a mistake, that it was part of a series of "scenes around America".

Uh huh.

there ARE 57 states - perhaps few noticed...

Well, this is a direct result of the homophobic discrimination of the RNC!

What they needed was a real good 'exterior designer'

Good luck with that!
