"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan." -- Sarah Palin in an address to ministry students at her former church

Palin is starting to remind me of Katherine Harris:

Palin told graduating students of the church's School of Ministry, "What I need to do is strike a deal with you guys." As they preached the love of Jesus throughout Alaska, she said, she'd work to implement God's will from the governor's office, including creating jobs by building a pipeline to bring North Slope natural gas to North American markets.

"God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.

"I can do my job there in developing our natural resources and doing things like getting the roads paved and making sure our troopers have their cop cars and their uniforms and their guns, and making sure our public schools are funded," she added. "But really all of that stuff doesn't do any good if the people of Alaska's heart isn't right with God."

Well, Katherine Harris and George Bush. I guess McCain figure if you can't beat the Christian conservative rightwing, you might as well join them.

Don't forget: this is the woman McCain has called his political "soulmate."

If God had intended there to be pipelines....

Finish the sentence, Sarah.

Palin's address, much of which was spent reflecting on the work of the church in which she grew up and was baptized, underscores the notion that her world view is deeply impacted by religion. In turn, her remarks raise important questions: mainly, what is Palin's faith and how exactly has it influenced her policies?

A review of recorded sermons by Ed Kalnins, the senior pastor of Wasilla Assembly of God since 1999, offers a provocative and, for some, eyebrow-raising sketch of Palin's longtime spiritual home.

The church runs a number of ministries providing help to poor neighborhoods, care for children in need, and general community services. But Pastor Kalnins has also preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven; charged that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and war in Iraq were part of a war "contending for your faith;" and said that Jesus "operated from that position of war mode."

www.huffingtonpost.com

Palin's former pastor: Don't criticize the president, don't criticize the pastor, or you'll go to hell:

Months after hinting at possible damnation for Kerry supporters, Kalnins bristled at the treatment President Bush was receiving over the federal government's handling of Hurricane Katrina. "I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."

Kalnins prayed for the Lord to make a way for Palin to become VP. He also claims "Alaska is one of the refuge states in the last days [end times]."

Oh lord, won't you buy me a mercedes benz.....

"Alaska is one of the refuge states in the last days [end times]."

#6 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday

Where is that in the bible, the gospel of st. bastard?

Refuge state? Yeah uhuh. You will freeze to death. Alaska is nothing to be trifled with.

This confirms it...

She's a fucking lunatic.

Just damn.

"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God," she said. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

Yes. She's a lunatic. Imagine her finger on the "nookular" button. Actually, I guess that would be God's will working it's "nookular" will through her finger...

Yep. She's a nut. We figured.

"God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that," she said.

I mean, really. That's beyond scary.

God wants a pipeline, and if he doesn't get it he may smiteth you!

Barack Obama has struggled for 18 months to lock down the support of a traditionally Democratic group, Jewish voters.

In the past week, John McCain may have helped Obama with his Jewish problem by choosing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

www.politico.com

Also Tuesday, a new Jewish Democratic group, JewsVote.org, sent out an email under the heading Who is Sarah Palin?-- an echo of conspiratorial anti-Obama emails that have criss-crossed the Jewish community.

Given her record as a hard-right Christian conservative, her embrace of Pat Buchanan, her praise of Ron Paul, and her lack of credentials on foreign affairs, it is likely that her selection would raise serious red flags about the McCain/Palin ticket among Jewish swing voters,-- they wrote, asking their members to send out their own anti-Palin emails.

from politico link

Holy Frigging Looney Toons.

Now it is very easy to see exactly why she was chosen. More pandering to the lunatic wingding kook base.

Good job.

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

I dont want those damned christians praying for my son in iraq and i dont want them pretending this is some kind of holy crusade.

it's a military occupation to secure oil fields, that's all.

god sure is taking and interest in oil these days. If the talibaptist weren't here to tell us, we would even know.

how nice! maybe her future son in law can go fight for the cause, after all he's just chillin.

I wonder if Palin's former pastor will get the same coverage as Obama's did? In his own way, he is equally out of the mainstream.

Well, that's just what we need in Washington - another member of the lunatic religious fringe. If she starts hearing God's voice, maybe she and Shrub can get together and put in a party line direct to heaven. Of course, that is assuming they ARE hearing God's voice and not picking up some nutcase radio talk show host on their fillings.

"Our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that plan is God's plan."

Oh shoot! This whole time I was blaming Bush for being too stupid and lazy to properly plan for post-Saddam Iraq.

But this is God's fuckup! I just hope we don't find out General Jesus neglected his duty......

So let me get this straight... only lunatic nut jobs believe in a God?

So naturally George Washington was a lunatic too then. As well as JFK and Lincoln.

The posters on this site are really special. Smarter than nearly everyone else because they discoverd there's no God after all. Amazing!

This broad is nuts. She has an Israel flag in her office in Alaska. War for Israel -- to bring about "the rapture" and the Second Coming is something most far right extreme Evangelicals like her get wet dreams about and she and those like her could care less if it's only American boys doing the dying for Israel.

You have a perfect storm --

1) All the Evangelical nutjobs here in the U.S. who want Israel attacked hoping to bring about Armaggedon and their rapture agenda by having war over Israel -- and FOR Israel -- and using our own military boys to do the dying for them;

2) The Neocon batshit crazies who now infest the Bush White House and will continue to KEEP ON infesting the White House via McCain and the definitely Neocon Mayor from Mooseville as they pursue world domination and war after war (read: PNAC). Oh, and don't forget the little side perk that goes with the Neocons' war agenda -- those very lucrative, no bid, cost plus war profiteering contracts for all the Republican corporate donors;

and finally...

3) The Neocons who are in the Israeli government and who are thrilled they can get the U.S. Neocons, their loyal base -- the far right Evangelicals, and billions of U.S. tax dollars all working on Israel's behalf to wipe off the planet every perceived enemy of Israel. No Isreali boys will spill their blood. Nope. AIPAC will see to it that only U.S boys will do the bleeding on Middle Eastern sand and AIPAC will see to it that only those who go along with their agenda ever hold political office here in the U.S.

Add all three elements together and you've got real trouble. Palin is dangerous -- more so than McCain. She has a far right Evangelical agenda and will do whatever the Neocons tell her to do. God help us if she ever ends up sitting in the Oval Office. Anyone who is a governor of Alaska but worships the nation of Israel and keeps an Israeli flag in her office does not have U.S. interests at heart.

It's not god that's the problem, it's the people that think they have a personal relationship with god that are the problem. how arrogant that is to believe you could have a relationship with a being that can create time, space and dimension.

Once again this is another quote out of context. WTF kind of election is this? Dodge the issues, smear the candidates, smear their religion, smear their color of skin and name, smear the families? WTF?

UNCLESAM

Paln is NOT being taken out of context. Bush said the same thing -- "God" wanted him to go to war in Iraq. The last thing we need in office is Palin -- another far right Evangelical/Neocon on the warpath. God help this country.

Also, my comments are not anti-Semitic because many good and innocent Israelis are being manipulatd into war by their government Neocons the same way as the Neocons in our own government got us into war in Iraq. It's the innocent citizens of both Israel and the U.S. who are doing the suffering while the Neocons in both those countries pursue non-stop war.

Strange that Palin made no mention of abortion last night when she ran a pro-life campaign as mayor:

Four years later, she took on her former workout buddy in a race that quickly became contentious. In Stein's view, Palin's main transgression was injecting big-time politics into a small-town local race. "It was always a nonpartisan job," he says. "But with her, the state GOP came in and started affecting the race." While Palin often describes that race as having been a fight against the old boys' club, Stein says she made sure the campaign hinged on issues like gun owners' rights and her opposition to abortion (Stein is pro-choice). "It got to the extent that I don't remember who it was now but some national antiabortion outfit sent little pink cards to voters in Wasilla endorsing her," he says.

Vicki Naegele was the managing editor of the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman at the time. "[Stein] figured he was just going to run your average, friendly small-town race," she recalls, "but it turned into something much different than that." Naegele held the same conservative Christian beliefs as Palin but didn't think they had any place in local politics.

"I just thought, That's ridiculous, she should concentrate on roads, not abortion," says Naegele.

When Plin's own mother-in-law, who is pro-choice, ran to replace palin as mayor when her term was up, Palin opposed her because of her stand on abortion:

When Palin, who went on to win re-election by a landslide, was forced out of the Mayor's office by term limits in 2002, her husband Todd's stepmother Faye Palin ran for mayor. She did not, however, get Sarah Palin's endorsement. A couple of people told me that they thought abortion was the reason for Palin not supporting her family member Faye, they say, is pro-choice, not to mention a Democrat. A former city council member recalls that it was a heated race, mainly because of right-to-life issues: "People were writing BABYKILLER on Faye's campaign signs just a few days before the election." Faye Palin lost the race to the candidate that Sarah backed, Dianne Keller, who is still mayor of Wasilla. (Over the weekend, Faye Palin told the New York Daily News that she liked listening to Barack Obama speak and that she wasn't sure who she would vote for in November.)

www.time.com

Palin is a diehard social conservative who is trying to pull the wool over the American people's eyes by running as every woman. I is hard to believe that Palin is more socially conservative than Bush and that John McCain, who once said the Evangelical wing must not be allowed to take over the party, has chosen her as his running mate. McCain has put his personal ambition above his former good sense and far, far above what's good for this country. This is one of the reasons Obama raised 8 million dollars since she gave her speech last night.

"Jesus Christ was a Community Organizer. Pontius Pilate was a Governor."

DANNI

Just a couple of weeks ago a minister was at Palin's church preaching how terrorists are God's vengence for crucifying Jesus.

Wait'll Jewish voters get a load of that

"It's not god that's the problem, it's the people that think they have a personal relationship with god that are the problem. how arrogant that is to believe you could have a relationship with a being that can create time, space and dimension."

Whoa!! Uh... you ever heard of the Bible? Ever tried to determine its origins? Your premise is stunning. If God created us, why would he not want a relationship with us? If there is no God, how did all this get here? A big explosion? Yeah. Now THAT takes faith baby!

I challenge you to try to learn something about it instead of making ignorant comments about something you obviously know nothing about.

'Task That is from God'

Here we go again.

I believe in God. I also believe in his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was a pacifist. Where does the evangelical community get the idea we're supposed to start wars?

Palin--One heartbeat away from the Presidency and the Nuclear Launch Codes.

Think about this, Republicans.

I believe in God. I also believe in his son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was a pacifist. Where does the evangelical community get the idea we're supposed to start wars?

Read the Old Testament. God sent the Israelites in to several wars with pagan nations. There's always right and wrong. Civility and barbarism. Which side should prevail? I think the answer is clear.

I guess it would be better to let all those Islamic dictators arm themselves to the neck with weapons? We started a war with the British when we fought for our own sovereingty. Do you lament that? Sometimes war is just. People who can't accept that don't believe there's absolute truth and absolute right. To them truth is adaptable to anyone's opinion. That will never work.

"Palin--One heartbeat away from the Presidency and the Nuclear Launch Codes.

Think about this, Republicans."
-------------------
Get real. This kind of crap is wasting our time. So you really think she'd fire our nukes? Okay.. hahaha.. there. We laughed. Now go back to sleep.

"Get real. This kind of crap is wasting our time. So you really think she'd fire our nukes? Okay.. hahaha.. there. We laughed. Now go back to sleep."

Hell I'm more worried about 'Strawberries' McCain having his finger on the button.

WOW

So when does this twit drop off the ticket. If the Dems dont win ths race in a walk now, they are pathetic.

What an finf looney bird!!!!

If the Iraq "war" is so just why does the Pope oppose it.He has said it is morally wrong

If the "culture of life" is so important to republicans why is their not outrage of the number of innocent civilians killedin the Iraq war- in the hundreds of thousands( Lancet study).

Why dont we hear more about innocent Iraqi deaths numbers.?After all life is life or did I miss reading in the Bible that an American life is more important than all the rest??

From the standpoint of evangelical activism, Sarah Palin represents--or seemed to--the the next step in a rich tradition of female leadership, beginning with Anita Bryant in the 1970s and extending to Phyllis Schafly, Beverly LaHaye, and Roberta Combs, to name a few. Like the women volunteers who have kept Protestant churches going for a century and a half, activist women have been the crucial cogs in the GOP's evangelical machine. When push comes to shove, even a maverick among men like John McCain knows he can't do without them. Yes, Dear.

I made the mistake of thinking this site was for rational discussion of issues. Obviously its just a place for rabid republican haters to vent their puss.

Sorry, but when the President of the United States says that God speaks to him in the Oval Office and tells him what to do - time to get out the nets, folks. Unfortunately for us, we didn't get out the nets and now we have thousands of our young men and women being killed in Iraq while countless thousands of innocent Iraqis are being murdered every day. And the people who were actually responsible for 911? Oh...some of them are holed up in the mountains between Pakistan and Afghanistan, nice and safe and being sheltered by the tribes there. Some of them are living like royalty on their oil revenues while their pal in the Oval Office snickers at all of us.

Now we have Sarah Palin whose minister is apparently convinced that Jesus is a general who wants His followers to die for Him in Iraq. Jesus wept! Can you really believe THAT load? Jesus - who turned the other cheek. Jesus who said "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do." THAT Jesus wants those who believe in Him to DIE IN IRAQ???? What kind of total craziness is that?

And yes, this is where we come to vent when the repulsicans spout outrageous c*** that Kool Aid drinkers swallow without question. Sometimes we just laugh. Sometimes we rant. Sometimes we cry but we ALWAYS see it for what it is. A load of horses*** But you go right ahead and keep on swallowing.

Tell me why one should not be alarmed at this. I think it would be irrational to ignore this

I made the mistake of thinking this site was for rational discussion of issues. Obviously its just a place for rabid republican haters to vent their puss.

We've had threads here about Obama, McCain and Hillary's pastors and religious endorsements. I thought we should have one about Palin as well. We should probably have one about Biden too now that I think about it.

I bet she humps like a $5 whore

Is that bad or good?

Media commentators across the spectrum commented on the success of Palin's address. But the well-delivered speech still leaves many questions unanswered. As conservative columnist Steve Chapman wrote in the Chicago Tribune,

"Palin has another, more complicated task that this speech postponed: reaching out to millions of people who are honestly wondering if she has the experience, depth and temperament to step into the Oval Office. What many of those Americans need to see are qualities like judgment, wisdom, tolerance and flexibility. Those traits were conspicuous by their absence tonight."

...proof still that Mencken is/& always will be, spot on.

it appears the convention delegates are out of step with majority US as well as with the majority of Republicans, maybe it's that religious whackos control the convention, sure seems that way:

The headline screamed Elmer Gantry !

Let's see.....

God told prophet Jeremiah that He is preparing Babylon to come and take over Judah (and the event deported Daniel to Babylon)

God knew ahead and predicted through prophet Daniel the dominant kingdoms to follow....

Persian, Greek, Romans (during which the Messiah appeared)....

The same God moved America to eliminate the regime of Saddam and sons (God saw that greater evil will erupt unless Saddam was out of the world --- but liberals and skeptics cannot understand and will not appeciate).

But God allowed Fidel Castro to live long enough to see the evil of his ways --- but Castro is still not repenting.

The human heart. Free will.

"If there is no God, how did all this get here? A big explosion? Yeah. Now THAT takes faith baby!

I challenge you to try to learn something about it instead of making ignorant comments about something you obviously know nothing about. "

No it doesn't take faith it just takes understanding. Pot calling the kettle black huh?

I didn't know that the potential vp spoke for God.

The infidel hasn't read her Buy Bull.

First that knocked up kid's screwing around out of wedlock is a STONING offense!

And that is the Big Guy's statute FOREVER!

And then this comes in the next book:

26:15 And if ye shall DESPISE MY STATUTES, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
26:16 I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you TERROR, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. (26:16-41) "Ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it. ... And ye shall eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters shall ye eat."

(What the Bible says about children and cannibalism:

God describes torments that he has planned for those who displease him. The usual stuff: plagues, burning fevers that will consume the eyes, etc. but he reserves the worst for the little children. He says "ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it," "I will send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children," and "ye shall eat the flesh of your sons and daughters."

Here are the gory details:

If you don't follow all of God's laws, he will send you terror, consumption, a disease that will consume your eyes, and make your enemies eat your children. (v.16)

If that doesn't do it, he'll punish you seven more times for your sins. (v.18)

Then he'll send you seven more plagues, (v.21)

... have some animals eat your children, (v.22)

... punish you seven more times for your sins, (v.24)

... kill you with a sword and a pestilence, (v.25)

... punish you seven more times for your sins, (v.28)

... force you to eat your sons and daughters, [If any are left after your enemies and animals have eaten them] (v.29)

... throw your dead body on the dead bodies of your gods, destroy your cities, kill you with a sword, and scatter you among the heathen. (vv.30-33)

And finally, if you survive all that, he'll send your enemies to kill and eat you. (vv.36-39)

(26:41) But if you humble your uncircumcised heart, God won't do all these nasty things to you. It's your choice.)

26:17 And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
26:19 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
26:20 And your strength shall be spent in vain: for your land shall not yield her increase, neither shall the trees of the land yield their fruits.
26:21 And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins.
26:22 I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall rob you of your children , and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be desolate."

So ---- that knocked up kid's gonna cause the Big Guy to smite the hell out of us!!!

Amen!

I certainly hope she's more logical than that. Four more years of this and we'll be invading the entire Islamic world.
This is too much like Shrub, who should have spoken to his REAL father more often than his heavenly one.
Next thing you know, to lock in the dems who are thinking of leaving due to the shattering one-way, glass ceiling, she'll advise her daughter to have a late-term abortion.
Positively Rovian in it's implication.

if you have to ask you should get out more.

Just what we need, another Republican who thinks they're channeling God.

I think this is fitting for this election cycle.

www.youtube.com

Leaving aside the lame religiosity, saying that the Iraq War is a task from God is about the most idiotic thing you could say about it from a foreign policy standpoint. It enrages the Muslim world, including the Iraqis and Aghanis we're trying to help.

How in the world could John McCain put a person who said that one heartbeat from the presidency? Would she pull this kind of crap in the White House? The mind boggles.

"I made the mistake of thinking this site was for rational discussion of issues."

No, you made the mistake of thinking you could make everyone believe that your imaginary friend has ordained the war in Iraq by putting up four or five ridiculously ill-informed posts.

Dear Sarah -

You're aware that God was behind the 9/11 attacks, yes? (www.tahoedailytribune.com)
We need to talk.
~Osama

Nice, WAR in the name of religion, where in history haven't we learned that lesson.

I suppose killing all those unGodly iraqis is going to turn them toward God.

RCADE

The really ironic part is that segments of that very same "Christian" mindset were in her church a couple of weeks ago preaching terror attacks against the Jews were punishment for them crucifying Jesus.

In a really ironic twist I guess they could go back to the Old Testament and dig up some convoluted reason to track down descendants of the Philistines and Hashimites and just get everyone in on the war and hate.

Although I should say that White Supremacist types could very well find any reason whatsoever to kill Jews or Arabs with equal glee and moral justification. The Bible's a convenient source for their purposes too. Idaho is full of many surprises.

It's also ironic (and very sad) that Osama Bin Laden and the GOP would both use 9/11 for political purposes. I had to turn off my TV for awhile when that came on last night during the RNC convention.

9/11 tributes ON 9/11 - appropriate.

9/11 films during a political convention for political reasons? - totally inappropriate

Two years ago this is what concerned Sarah Palin above all else.

Roads and getting the train to stop in Wassila.

And now I'm expected to want her to be VP for a 72 year old man.

Two years.

TED

I'm rooting for Brother Ron Cox LOL

Things were mighty tense a handful of years ago when the Wasilla City Council, in a torrid and tense meeting, appointed a City Administrator because their mayor was mishandling things so badly.

Wonder if they ever did a forensic audit to ascertain where the $20,000,000 they're in debt (after getting $27,000,000 in earmarks) went to?

Hopefully Brother Ron wasn't lining his pockets. A preacher on the take would be pretty sick.

Just for accuracy sake, AU, I believe Mayor Palin went after $27 million in earmarks, but Wasilla only received about $7 million. So its easy to see why she wouldn't be able to balance the budget and left a $20 million debt... couldn't get the Feds to pick up the rest of the tab.

PS: How priceless was it to see Rudy Guiliani try to make it seem like her experience as mayor of Hooterville was equivalent to his in NYC. Talking about swallowing your pride and taking one for the team!

Sanan

The one I enjoyed was Rove telling us "with all due respect" being mayor of Richmond and governor of Virginia was not enough experience to be VP.

Let me see if you humanists can grasp "God's will"...

God's will for civil government (city, county, state, federal) is to protect innocent people and punish guilty people.

There are 300,000-1,000,000 innocent people murdered by Saddam's regime. Countless more rapes and the like.

If the world was a suburban American neighborhood, the police, ATF and prosecutors would've been involved.

You may not like God or "His will", but those are the (debateable) facts of the situation.

This abysmally plug-ugly and historically cynical marketing attempt by the corporate boardrooms puts lipstick on a glib nobody with zero experience of any kind. They now tell voters this is what becomes The Leader Of The Free World once the anointed POW's apoplexy is fatal.

Sarah Palin is no more than a crass insult to voters' intelligence. I resent it. herm

Sorry, I didn't read far enough.

"The church runs a number of ministries providing help to poor neighborhoods, care for children in need, and general community services. "

Ohhhh, those bastards! How DARE they compete with state and federal welfare programs.

I understand your liberal disdain.

Sad day in America when Cindy Sheehan gets ridiculed for being right about Iraq and bat shit crazy Sarah Palin gets nominated for vice president.
It was bad enough when the Kook Aide drinkers gained control but now that they started lacing it with LSD it is even scarier.

Do you even KNOW any Christians personally?

If I heard members of my church talking about homosexuals and atheists that way, I'd correct them for being slanderous a-holes.

Nice try.

Saying
"God damn America"
And saying Saddam's murderous and rape-loving sons being removed from power are NOT the same thing.

"I understand your liberal disdain."

You may be aware of it but you certainly don't have the capacity to understand it. It is hilarious that you think you do.

..And his comments are pretty standard. Far from outside the "mainstream."

Any pastor who reads the news and reads the Bible can understand and probably agree with the sentiment.

Danni,

It's even more hilarious yet offensive that you presume to know what I know.

I opposed the Iraq invasion when proposed and I voted for Bill Clinton.

As the Bible says, "Why do the heathen rage?"

Rage on, Danni.

...Or should I follow the liberal lead here and start calling people "fucktard?"

"If the world was a suburban American neighborhood, the police, ATF and prosecutors would've been involved. "

And if your mom had balls she'd be your dad.

The world isn't a suburban American neighbhorhood.

This is Sarah Palin's church? If so - well, as Governor, Sarah excercised her 'line item veto' and cut funding to homes for unwed mothers. Good thing her daughter doesn't need that service, isn't it? Oh...the home she cut the funding for (which, I believe, the Alaska legislature restored) provides a home, to unwed teenage mothers, before the baby's birth and 18 months of job training/counseling after the baby is born to unwed mothers in Alaska. Of course, if you'd rather have them living off welfare for the rest of their lives I suppose that sort of service isn't necessary. Maybe Sarah's God will feed, clothe and house them. Wait for it....

If I thought for one SECOND that any of the politicians on the scene today REALLY cared about God and religion I would have respect for them. But every one of those sanctimonious pols are SUCH HYPOCRITES. They use 'religion' as a club to beat us over the head and attempt to make us believe they give a rip. The only thing that surprises me is that a giant bolt of lightening, in the shape of a giant hand, doesn't come out of the sky and just SMITE them where they stand when they start spouting all this nonsense geared toward what is basically a MINORITY in the republican party. If you think they really believe all that religious stuff, I have a bridge in Alaska I'd like to sell you. Cheap. Just like their phoney religious beliefs. Hypocrites.

HOLY WAR, BATMAN!!!!!

It appears the GOPiggies are so afraid of Sarah Palin as a loose cannon that they're going to be keeping her closeted in the Land of the Midnight Sun and away from the press:

BACK TO ALASKA
By Ben Smith (Politico)

Howard Fineman reported tonight (and I heard something similar) that Sarah Palin will, after a brief stretch on the trail, head back to Anchorage and away from the national media.

"They're basically taking Palin back to Alaska," said Fineman, citing a senior McCain campaign official.

Fineman's source (and mine) said she'd spent much of the time between now and the middle of next week (when her son leaves for Iraq) straightening her affairs, tending to her official duties and packing her bags having departed abruptly for the national stage. She also seems unlikely to do many major media interviews between now and then, and the campaign seems to feel no urgency about putting her on the Sunday shows.

The campaign will "also use the plane time and time on the ground to begin the education of Sarah Palin," Fineman said. "They want to take that pause to train."

Clinton's Fault

I would like to offer a Republican prayer at this time.

Dear Lord, John McCain is an American hero and a POW that puts Country First(trade mark). Please, help John McCain, who hates dirty Muslims, kill their children where they sleep- Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb them, Lord. Lord, bless John who, as a POW, will never forget 9/11 and has no fear of the Iraqi's that attacked us on 9/11.

God bless our soldiers, POW's like John McCain and condemn the terrorist from Iraq that attacked us on 9/11. Jesus, bless our families and protect our unborn children(the next generation of POW's and hockey moms) from evil aborters like Hilary Clinton.

Lord, help us rid the earth of godless Muslims like Obama, protect our great POW's, never forget 9/11 and the Iraqi's who attacked us.

Please Lord, help us shatter that highest hardest glass ceiling by promoting hockey moms and POWs who never forgot 9/11 and always put Country First (trade mark).

God bless American's who use the slogan "Country First" (trade mark) and condemn all others to hell.

Skizziks,

Now show me a citation for 300,000-600,000 deaths in Iraq and WHO is responsible for those deaths.

And despite your frequent antichrist idiotic statements, surely you *could* be able to see the difference between Muslim terrorists/Taliban who do NOTHING to protect innocent civilians and even *target* them and what America had one in targeting terrorists and trying to protect innocent civilians.

How many civilians do you think have been TARGETED by American troops?

Tell us, O great one!

"How many civilians do you think have been TARGETED by American troops?"

Are you trying to say that anyeone would be so naive as to believe that we were going to invade another country and not kill civilians?

When the Bush admin decided to invade Iraq they knew that meant many Iraqi civilians were going to be killed. Why pretend otherwise?

Sully sez: The posters on this site are really special. Smarter than nearly everyone else because they discoverd there's no God after all. Amazing!

No, not nearly everyone else. Those who believe in reason and natural processes are a substantial number in the US. A recent Harris Poll found that 42 percent of adult Americans were not "absolutely certain" about the existence of God. Ten percent are still more dubious. So not EVERYONE is so superstitious and foolish as to believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, in a Big Daddy in the sky who takes time out from steering galaxies and tinkering with quarks to answer prayer and grant victory to one side or the other in a Friday night high school football game. After all, many of our founding fathers, including Franklin and Jefferson, expressed disbelief in the divinity of Christ. So, really, there are LOTS of us smart folks here, and always have been.

Sully, can you READ?

I said "did America TARGET civilians"?

Muslim terrorists and Saddam and his sons TARGETED civilians! BIG difference.

We loose around 100,000 Americans/year from hospital errors, but if that was INTENTIONAL it would be completely different.

You've GOT to be smarter than your post, Sully.

so sad that you have to use lies and distortions to get folks to vote for your "candidates".

How about some "citation" yourself as to where Obama said "God Damn America" or did you just slander your new commander in chief?

and BTW Bush is completely responsible for any deaths caused in Iraq by the Illegal and completely unjustified and unnecessary war of aggression against the sovereign nation of Iraq. He lied to get us into this war and has lied ever since to KEEP us there. It was HIS choice and plan to attack. They never attacked us nor did they have the capability to do so.

America was never in any imminent danger.

Yes, the world is a better place without Saddam.

But, rest assured that the world will also be a better place without Bush/Cheney in charge of our Nation and Military.

"We loose around 100,000 Americans/year from hospital errors, but if that was INTENTIONAL it would be completely different. "

We intentionally invaded Iraq knowing full well it meant the deaths of many Iraqi civilians. I'm for the war in Afghanistan. I know our being there means that Afghani civilians will get killed. I just prefer that to sitting around waiting for their next attack. Why can't you admit that inherent in the decision to invade another country is the decision to kill civilians?

You sound like a kid who throws a rock at a window and then says "I didn't mean to break it!". Well what the fuck did you think was going to happen when you threw the rock at it, you little retard?

"You've GOT to be smarter than your post, Sully."

Not really. I think if I were less intelligent I might relate to you better.

The Drudge righties REALLY have to stand on their pointed heads when they propose that it's okay for US to kill civilians in countries we conquer, but not okay for the forces of Allah. herm

Ahhhhh, smell the wafts of liberal tyranny!

Baked fresh daily by antichrist types at Drudge...

So "manypaths"

There are "many paths" to God, enlightenment, whatever and *that's* the way you do it, huh?

Exactly when the fuck was God and religion co-opted by the GOP? There is a large difference between being religious/spiritual and being a wide-eyed zeolot, which is what Palin and Co. seem to be. That the righties here seem to think that if you're not a registered Republican, you hate God and Jaysus is beyond moronic.

If you fucking idiots somehow get McCain/Palin elected, based on what appears to be some sort of "identification" with the born-again hockey mom that's "just like me," you deserve everything that's coming your way. Unfortunately, the rest of us will once again be held hostage to your idiocy as we have been for the past 8 years.

Donnerboy,

"God damn America" was Obama's old pastor--thought you'd know that, it's pretty common knowledge. And *I* didn't bring him up first.

And saying Bush is responsible for every civilian death, including the biggest cause--IEDs and suicide bombers--is insane.

And Sully,
OF COURSE civilian deaths happen in war unintentionally. There have been a few killed intentionally by trigger-happy soldiers. Very sad. And I talk about that too.

YOU made the moral equivalency argument between Christianity and the Taliban. Which shows your ignorance or willingness to lie.

The Taliban TARGETS civilians.
America does not TARGET civilians, but civilians always die in wars and we should do everything to minimize that.

Eva,

Trust me, I wish that Democrats WERE more welcoming of religion and/or Christianity. Bush and company wouldn't be the way they are if so many Democrats were so antireligion.

Read this whole thread and you'll see how welcoming liberals are to religion (esp. Read ManyPaths rant).

Dems used to be open to religion. At some point THEY gave up.

Jesus was a pacifist and look where it got him. This religion that uses his name has nothing to do with him really. It's a hijacking of Jesus's legacy that started just about the day after he died. But you modern pacifist Christians can't do anything about it, because how the heck is a pacifist ever going to win a fight? You are the loser by definition -- turn the other cheek. "May I have another, sir?" It's vexing indeed. I don't know what to do about it either, except get mad and vote for Obama.

God damn America" was Obama's old pastor--thought you'd know that, it's pretty common knowledge. And *I* didn't bring him up first...

Obama said nothing of the sort wasn't there to hear it completely and disagrees with his old pastor--thought you'd know that, it's pretty common knowledge.

And saying Bush is responsible for every civilian death, including the biggest cause--IEDs and suicide bombers--is insane.

From one insane person to another.

Bush Broke It and now he owns It. If we had not gone there in this way he would not be responsible. But, since he lied and manipulated the truth in order to get America to attack this country he is responsible for murder of the innocent victims of this illegal war.

Don't ever forget that in your zeal to boast how we are now "victorious" because of the wonderful "surge".

"OF COURSE civilian deaths happen in war unintentionally. There have been a few killed intentionally by trigger-happy soldiers. Very sad. And I talk about that too."

Why blame "trigger happy" guys who have to worrry about getting their asses blown off when that represents a tiny fraction of civilian deaths?

You know how most civilians die during a war? Bombs. You drop bombs on cities, you kill civilians. The idea that such deaths are "accidents' is ludicrous. Inherent in the decision to bomb cities is the decision to kill civilians. You can say that the purpose of the bombing isn't to kill civilians. But you can't say that you didn't know that civilians would be killed. And since you know its going to happen and you drop the bombs anyway, it isn't an accident.

I'm not saying its never appropriate to bomb a city. What I am saying is let's not bullshit about what such a decision means.

"YOU made the moral equivalency argument between Christianity and the Taliban. Which shows your ignorance or willingness to lie."

Actually, I did no such thing nor can you can provide any quotes to back up such a ridiculous claim.

So this PROVES your ignorance and willingness to lie.

...but civilians always die in wars and we should do everything to minimize that.

#116 | Posted by kirk at 2008-09-05 03:08 PM

Brilliant deduction!

Which is why we should not take sending our troops into war lightly... especially when we find out our Leaders have lied in order to start that war.

Dems used to be open to religion. At some point THEY gave up.

#117 | Posted by kirk at 2008-09-05 03:16 PM

when you try and use Religion/Christianity to justify wars of aggression (or any Policy) we definitely give up on It.

The Rethugs have tried to justify this war as a "Task from God."

Who the fuck gives them that right? And who the fuck are you (or the Religious Right) to say that the Dems are less Religious than you just because they might believe differently than you.

And BTW this is not a Christian Nation and was not founded on Christianity and it will not become a Theocracy.

Maybe if the Rethugs were a bit more evenhanded with Religion and Spirituality in general then maybe we wouldn't "give up" on them.

actually, your chances of winning a lottery is the same whether or not you pray to skydaddy (same for rain), so no sense fighting for skydaddy!

I do believe God put leaders in place, but I think he is trying to take muslims out of power rather than put Bush and Palin in power.

And haven't they read their own Bibles about putting a mark on everyones forehead or right hand. Rev 13:16
Doesn't it say it is morally wrong to mark everyone.
I guess that is why that Beast Palin wants to be compared to a pitbull.

So Sarah allegedly smiles with her husband's ex business partner?

There are photos of her going doggy with the dude.

Hockey Moms like it from behind

Palin says she was baptized and saved by the Wasilla Assembly of God, grew up going to that church and is not freaked out(her words) by what they do there. She thinks God has special plans for Alaska and it will be a refuge when the time comes when Jesus returns or whatever. These two YouTube videos have her saying all this herself - even Sasquatch gets a mention.

www.youtube.com

www.youtube.com

Don't know about you but I have problem with a VP who stands a better than usual chance of becoming president under the 25th Amendment when she believes what this church believes.

They have 16 articles of faith. Here's the 15th with Biblical authority quoted.

"The Final Judgment.

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to the everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

Here's all 16 articles of faith.

"her husband's ex business partner"

Sounds fishy to me.

Bush Broke It and now he owns It. If we had not gone there in this way he would not be responsible. But, since he lied and manipulated the truth in order to get America to attack this country he is responsible for murder of the innocent victims of this illegal war.

Keeping America out of future wars in the Middle east is Saudi Arabia's god-given task. Only they've already invested in preventing that eventuality in their sponsorship of one Barack Hussein Obama...

Some revealing insight into Obama's background came into the light today.

Percy Sutton, the former borough president of Manhattan, off-handedly revealed the unusual circumstances about his first encounter with the young Obama.

I was introduced to (Obama) by a friend who was raising money for him,-- Sutton told NY1 city hall reporter Dominic Carter.

The friends name is Dr. Khalid al-Mansour (possibly: Khalid Abdullah Tario Al-Mansour), from Texas,-- Sutton said. He is the principal adviser to one of the worlds richest men. He told me about Obama.--

Sutton, the founder of Inner City Broadcasting, said al-Mansour contacted him to ask a favor: Would Sutton write a letter in support of Obamas application to Harvard Law School?

He wrote to me about him,-- Sutton recalled. And his introduction was there is a young man that has applied to Harvard. I know that you have a few friends up there because you used to go up there to speak. Would you please write a letter in support of him?--

Sutton said he acted on his friend al-Mansours advice.

I wrote a letter of support of him to my friends at Harvard, saying to them I thought there was a genius that was going to be available and I certainly hoped they would treat him kindly,-- Sutton told NY1.

Sutton did not say why al-Mansour was helping Obama, how he discovered him, or from whom he was raising money on Obamas behalf.

Blah! blah! Yawn! Blah!

It won't be so blah when a creative editor writes the REAL headlines for the story.

Black Panther's founder prevails upon politically connected friends to get Barack Obama accepted into Harvard Law...

or

Would Barack Obama have gotten into Harvard without Saudi advisor's help?

Well Farmer, I almost thought that story was reputable, until I visited the site they got the story from.

www.worthynews.com

Then, I almost shit myself by laughing so hard when I saw the site referred to itself as a "Christian News Service"...

I'm curious, do you just google "Obama" and "muslim" and post your most ridiculous finding, then assume we'd believe it's noteworthy?

"Would Barack Obama have gotten into Harvard without Saudi advisor's help?"

This from someone who would never have posted that question about Dubya and Yale.

And conveniently ignores Obama's Magna Cum Laude achievement. Or were his grades the result of an Islamist conspiracy, too?

Actually, I'm a little partial to this one...

Puppeteer Pulling Barack Obama's Strings Revealed...

Yeah, the story wouldn't be very credible at all except for the inconvfenient truth that the confession was captured on FILM and then broadcast by LEFTIES, as the YouTube link shows. And the man who made the revelation has ALWAYS been extremely highly regarded by the left... a REAL civil rights HERO.

btw - How many articles did Barack Obama write for the Harvard Law Review, anyway? One (partial) or zero, I forget.

You'd think a televised confession by Percy Sutton would make the story credible...

But since the Left now decides just what sources are and are not credible anymore, you'd think they endorse one of their own...

I mean up until yesterday, Fox News was not a credible source. Then Barack Obama appears on it and WALLAH! Credible.

Oprah is a highly regarded celebrity interviewer, yet she refuses to interview Sarah Palin on her show.

Somebody's 'source' credibility is beginning to crack... and it's NOT Fox News.

Of course, the MSM wouldn't cover the Edwards scandal at all... and now the National Enquirer is becoming a paper of record in place of the NY Times.

Or were his grades the result of an Islamist conspiracy, too?

You mean Obama has released some of his college transcripts? Let's see the one's from Columbia so that we can assess just "how much help" the Saudi's offered Obama in the admissions process to Harvard Law.

"You mean Obama has released some of his college transcripts?"

No, I mean Obama graduated from Harvard Magna Cum Laude. Do you know what that means, or do you need that explained to you?

I mean up until yesterday, Fox News was not a credible source. Then Barack Obama appears on it and WALLAH! Credible.

#137 | Posted by Farmer_John at 2008-09-05 05:42 PM

Even Obama cannot lend any credibility to Fixed News.

He only showed up there to show that in good faith that he is willing to negotiate with any "enemy" like he said he would. I am sure he took a long hot shower afterward to wash off the stink of "Pappa Bear's" spittle.

Magna Cum Laude from Harvard. Very impressive. But how did a D- student at Columbia get into Harvard??? And if he wasn't a D- student, what were his grades? He didn't graduate from Columbia with any honors or distinctions of ANY kind.

Wow! Palin released her transcripts. I guess that UNLIKE Barack Obama, she's believes in complete transparency and has NOTHING TO HIDE.

I thought George Soros was an "Open Society" guy. I guess not. I suspect "open societies" are one of those Alinskian rules that the "other" guy has to live up to... never yourself.

she's believes in complete transparency and has NOTHING TO HIDE.

You really believe that, do you?

OK, OK,---Let me see if I understand FJ's logic---Academic distinction at Harvard only counts of preceded by academic distinction at Columbia?

Um, yeah. I worked with a civil engineer who had a diploma from MIT (not there specialty I know). He was a great text book talker, but when it came time to design in the real world, he could not engineer his way out of a paper bag. With all due respect to Zat and his intelligence/education, I find in the "real" world of engineering, advanced degrees from elite universities are as valuable as a nose bleed. Give me a B student who interned at a design firm over a PhD anyday.

OK, OK---Let me see if I understand FJ once again---Obama got a Magnum Cum Laude at Harvard, but he wasn't qualified to be there?

EL CID---It's demonstrable we've got turkeys at every level of education. Our current president is a glowing example of that. But your thesis is only turkey's have Ph.D.'s?

DON-
Serious question... how do you think Rep candidates ought to feel about appearing on all the other networks? The same as you've indicated Obama did?

This dovetails with the other thread about Palin and her future appearances/interviews with the press.

Should she subject herself to the same sort of BS from the MSM?

Back to FOX & Obama - FOX is a huge entity. By agreeing to speak with O'Reilly Obama has shown courage and will reap some benefit by being able to speak directly to a large segment of the population. A segment which has has been perhaps suspicious of him. Preaching to the choir only gets one so far. Good for Obama - I'm glad he went on.

"But how did a D- student at Columbia get into Harvard???"

Duck! The monkey is throwing feces again!

Let me see if I understand FJ's logic...

Holy crap Zed ... you are actually looking for LOGIC in something that FJ says?

Finding LOGIC in a Farmer John rant will take about the same length of time it will take for a monkey randomly to type out a Shakespeare play on a typewriter!

en.wikipedia.org

Let me see if I understand FJ's logic---Academic distinction at Harvard only counts of preceded by academic distinction at Columbia?

Nope. Admission to Harvard must be preceeded by either academic distinction OR political sponsorship. Which was it? The charge being made was that it was politically directed sponsorship... from the radical "black panther party" founding left.

Oh, I see---The Black Panthers got Obama into Harvard---Farmer John, you be bat-shit.

Harvard Law School states they will accept applicants who score in the upper 5% of the LSAT. So, if Obama did that, he's one smart Black Panther.

Why are Barack Obama's Columbia transcripts being guarded like they're some kind of National Secret/ Treasure? Open a window, let a little light into the election process. Was Obama "helped" in gaining admission to Harvard? He graduated from Columbia with NO academic distinctions... so why would Khalid Mansour be asking Percy Sutton to write to his Harvard contacts to help get some academic mediocrity into Harvard law?

In other word's, who's cock was Obama sucking?

Harvard Law School states they will accept applicants who score in the upper 5% of the LSAT.

Then release his LSAT score so we can be assured that he was qualified.

FARMER JOHN---I'm not sure you fully understand how this works. The fact is any person with a sufficiently high LSAT could get into Harvard Law regardless of past academic performance.

"And her glasses are fake.
collegefinder.globalscholar.co
m" - ZAT

Contacts, my friend. There are photos I saw the other day of her wearing glasses as a pre-teen.

"Then release his LSAT score so we know he was qualified...."

You interest me. I assume you voted for Bush. We know how he got into both Yale and Harvard. Did that disqualify him for elective office?

How did McCain get onto Annapolis? Anyone? How about you, FJ?

You probably know where I'm going with this. McCain's SAT scores were what when he was eighteen? I'd like to see them.

"Get some academic mediocrity (obama) into Harvard Law School..."

If the man got a Magna Cum Laude, he by very definition wasn't that. Or will you postulate further "cock sucking"?

How did McCain get onto Annapolis? Anyone? How about you, FJ? His dad and uncle got him in.

How did Barack Obama get into Harvard Law? He had no academic merits from Comumbia, yet Percy Sutton was writing letters for his admission at the bequest of Khalid al-Mansour, ex-mentor to Black Panther Party (BPP) founders and advisor to a Saudi prince.

Was Obama sucking BPP cock? If not, what "qualified" him for admission?

"His dad an Uncle got him in...."

So John McCain had to such no cock whatsoever? Lucky man.

Most people will draw the line at Creationism ... thankfully we're now far from the days of the Scopes Trial and if the Republicans believe they can drag us back to that, they're sadly mistaken.

Creationism and those who believe it are perfectly entitled to believe it of course, but stay the f**k away from the Executive office ..

I'm afraid you're lost in the sands of your own anger and illogic, FJ.

Hey, GZ---Good to see you.

The fact is any person with a sufficiently high LSAT could get into Harvard Law regardless of past academic performance. Then publish his score and lets SEE if he got in that way. And if NOT... and he graduated w/NO distinctions from Columbia, just HOW DID HE GET IN?

He has no family connection... I'll assume. Yet Percy Sutton is pulling strings with the admissions office at Harvard to get him in at al-Mansours direction.

All I want to know is how he got in. Open a window and shed some light for us.

Seriously, FJ---You think the BLACK PANTHERS got Obama into school?

DON-
Serious question... how do you think Rep candidates ought to feel about appearing on all the other networks? The same as you've indicated Obama did?

Ok well first we have to agree on the story behind the Obama appearance on the Factor.

As you may be aware there was a behind the scenes dispute between the Obama campaign and Fixed News owner Robert Murdoch that prevented him from appearing sooner. It had to do with several slanderous statements on Fixed News such as the "Terrorist Bump", the accusation that Obama is a "secret Muslim" and several other things.

I assume then that these "issues" have been resolved to Obama's satisfaction enough that he felt he could appear.

I don't see the other Netorks making such slanderous and inflammatory remarks about Republicans that would prevent them from appearing.

But, Perhaps you can refresh me.

So, are we referring to perhaps McCain or Palin appearing on the Olberman show Countdown? I don't think they would be equivalent in nature. Regardless, I don't think they would dare. I think what you will see now is more and more islolation of the Republican candidates and less candid conversation and more scripted appearances to prevent any straying from the "talking points".

I would love to see McCain appear on Jon Stewart's show again (and yes, I equal O'Lielly to an "fake" news show as infotainment only). McCain used to be a "friend" of Jon's but I bet he can go no where near that show now since he has reneged on his Straight Talk Pledge.

Same here Zed

Netorks = Netdorks!

Farmer John is obsessed today. Fun to watch.

He's like the little kid digging through the pile of horse shit, just positive there's a pony in there somewhere.

Yes, Bush had family connections. What were Obama's connections that got him into Harvard?

There is nothing in Obama's academic record that would qualify him. We can only ASSUME that these recently disclosed political connections to civil rights hero Percy Sutton, on behalf of Khalid al-Mansour are what got him in.

It's the only "logical" explanation... since the campaign prefers to keep us ALL in the dark as to the truth.

They've offered no "plausible" explanations. Zero.

So, FJ---Your thesis is it's VERY BAD to have connections that get you into Harvard unless they're the sort of connections you like?

"logical"

and Farmer John

God help us.

You probably know where I'm going with this. McCain's SAT scores were what when he was eighteen? I'd like to see them.

We all know what a crappy student McCain was, and how his family practically founded the US Navy. We kinda know "how" he got in.

But what we DON'T know is how an academic mediocrity named Barack Hussein Obama got into Harvard Law. It just "doesn't make sense".

Most people will draw the line at Creationism ... thankfully we're now far from the days of the Scopes Trial and if the Republicans believe they can drag us back to that, they're sadly mistaken.

Ever have one shit in your pants?

If I'd been interested in law, I might have asked a Black Panther for a recommendation, if I could stop laughing long enough at the very idea, and if I could stay away from Oakland, where the police very much enjoyed shooting Black Panthers.

If the man got a Magna Cum Laude, he by very definition wasn't that. Or will you postulate further "cock sucking"?

At the time of Barack Obama's admission to Harvard Law, Barack Obama was not Magna cum Anything...

...except perhaps sucking Khalid al-Mansour's cock.

...be vigilant...FOREVER!

...just positive there's a pony in there somewhere.

FF!

OK, FJ---Obama was either a brilliant thinker or a brilliant cock-sucker. Of course, its always possible he was both. Anthing else you want to say?

So, FJ---Your thesis is it's VERY BAD to have connections that get you into Harvard unless they're the sort of connections you like?

I'll take any reasonable explanation as to how Obama got in. I think the voters are entitled to know. Let them decide for themselves whether or not they "like" the connnections.

Are we going to live in an "open" society or not? And if not, perhaps we need to understand that BEFORE we vote.

FJ, I'll take any "reasonable" explanation that Gidget didn't sincerely want to fire that poor librarian for not supporting her candicacy for mayor, but I suggest neither of us hold our breath.

My point is, between the cock-sucker and the bully, I'll take the cock-sucker.

OK, FJ---Obama was either a brilliant thinker or a brilliant cock-sucker. Of course, its always possible he was both. Anthing else you want to say?

Nope. I just would like to know precisely "how" Barack Obama got into Harvard. If he scored high on the LSAT, then tell me his score. If he has good grades at Columbia (doubtful since he earned no distinctions), then tell us what his grades were. And if he was admitted at the political bequest of civil rights gero Percy Sutton and Khalid al-Mansour, then say so. And if what something else "entirely", divulge it.

Cuz right now it's a "mystery" with a cloud hanging over it. And the time to explore mysteries and demand answers is BEFORE the election.

"Farmer John"-
I "fail" to see "where" any of "your posts" have "anything" behind "them" but bullshit.

"BetelG"

Well, whenever everyone's ready to expel the psychotic religious nut bag element from the country, give me a ring. The war between reason and insanity is a war worth fighting and I would happily serve.

If a religion helps one to understand their role in the world such that it helps themselves cope with life, that is a good thing and I can appreciate that incorporation of religion into one's life. When it enters the public arena and is used to influence policy decisions, it must be stopped. Just look at the Wahabbis, the Taliban, and the Christian right.

When the supposed will of a being that may or may not exist lends itself to the decision making process, reason has been abandoned in favor of mysticism. Are we really that far behind in our thinking?

well said App! Newsworthy!

count me in ... I have been engaged in that "war" for years now.

MR. O'REILLY: But I'm going to assume that Iran's going to say, "blank" you, we're going to do what we want. And I want a president, whether it's you or McCain, who says, you ain't doing that.

All right, let's go to Iraq. I think history will show it's the wrong battlefield, okay. And I think that you were perspicacious in your original assessment of the battlefield.

Obama showed the judgment to be Commander in Chief by having the right judgment in the FIRST place, not like McCain claiming that 'fixing' a tragically mismanaged mistake of a war 5 years into it shows 'leadership'.

Donner: Seriously, with the number of people that have been oppressed or murdered in the name of crazy nonsense, I mean War. I'm at my wits end watching this unfold every day. We try to vote against it, protest against it, even reason against it. But it breeds (in her case, 5 or six kids). It indoctrinates and brainwashes while we try to let our facts stand up for themselves. Our passivity in allowing reason and logic to rule our world is resulting in its irrelevance as nonsensical gibberish is being force-fed to the next generation. We are losing the war of ideas against this insanity and I fear that we may pay dearly for it. Its time for us to be as in-your-face as the religious folks; we have to fight back, stand on street corners, hand out pamphlets, shit, start a damned church even!

well, if you have seen any of my posts you will see that I have become quite practiced at being "in your face", especially when I see the Religious Nutcases come out I respond in kind to their outrageous comments. Right now we are in the information phase of the War you speak of. I have been accused of being very unfriendly at times but I am only responding in the fashion that I think "they" understand and choose to communicate in.

I would never seek to start a "church" though as all "organized religion" is fraught with danger. Even Jesus was against "organized religion" though Christians like to gloss over that aspect of his teachings.

But, you are right to recognize the dangerous period we are entering which is why this Election is more important than ever or at least any I have ever witnessed (and I am an old fart). A religious war is already raging over half the world and indeed we may be all sucked into the chaos of it someday. Right now I am fighting to keep my children, who are approaching the "cannon fodder" age, from be sucked up into the maelstrom.

I applaud your recognition of the dangerous times we approach and I encourage you to start immediately to get "in the face" of those you see spouting lies and distortions of the truth.

We need all the foot soldiers we can get. We are badly outnumbered. And above all else we MUST win the White House back and the Democrats are the only party strong enough to do this...or all is lost and I fear we slip back into the Dark Ages from once we escaped.

Yeah, maybe the church is a bit to far, heh. But I do believe that people generally desire to be ruled and churches tend to provide "rule" that is more local and personable than a nameless, faceless government body.

Gawddamn!!!

Talk about taking your lord's name in vain!

Sully,

I apologize.
Skizziks is the ridiculous poster who foolishly equated the Taliban and Christians.

Dooneerboy,

You DO know that during the Dark Ages that the Bible was locked up in monasteries and in languages the "people" couldn't read, right?

And that the first book printed by Gutenberg was the Bible?

And that the Bible being translated into the languages of the people caused revolution, reformation and the end of the divine right of kings, right?

The Dark Ages were also the dark ages of the church.

Or do you get all your info from antichrist blogs?

For the supposed party of 'Personal Responsibility', why do so many republicans use that tired line of 'God told me to do it'?

I guess Bush didn't start the war....God must have MADE him do it!!

What a crock of shit!

Where are the sane Americans?

The year is 2008. Enough time and knowledge have passed that people by now should realize that Man created God and not the other way around.

It is the most amazing thing in my lifetime that in this day and age so many people still cling to these ancient myths.

Where are the sane Americans?

We wouldn't have the politics we have so shamefully corrupt and incompetent if the voters weren't equally corrupt and incompetent.

The Dark Ages were also the dark ages of the church.

Huh? The Dark Ages was a product of Church power, when knowledge was suppressed if it didn't conform to Church dogma.

"The Dark Ages were a product of Church Power...."

The Church in Ireland saved knowledge of Classical Civilzation, so we could have the option not to learn it today.

"It's amazing so many people cling to these ancient myths...."

Amazed are you? Maybe you need to take another look at the "myths".

As a black American, I am exceedingly proud at the American peoples response to Barack Obamas candidacy,-- said COREs Niger Innis. But to deny that he has long-standing ties to left-wing elements in our polity is to deny reality. If you want to be president of the United States, it is not racism if you ask these kind of questions, and he has to come up with an answer, hopefully the truth.--

What about the myth of Barack Obama rising to President of the Harvard Law Review single-handedly of his own personal volition.

Seems there's a "new" myth-making underway.... which lends new meaning to the end of the "enlightenment" era now end of the "Modern" era.

Was Barack Obama de-contextualized from his radical-left roots and re-born/re-interpretted as a President of the Harvard Law Review and Magna cum Laude graduate of Harvard Law through an act of clever "synthetic" biography (Dreams of my Father).

Ah, and so was born our first post-modern president.

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. - "I kill for God. I listen to God," a man accused of a northwest Washington shooting rampage said Friday at a hearing where six charges of first-degree murder and four of first-degree assault were filed against him.

Isaac Zamora made the chilling comment twice at the brief hearing in Skagit County District Court while investigators wrapped up their work at eight crime scenes.

God reelected Bush to check the Hindu loving, Buddhist swooning and Islam appeasing Democrats.

After all, except for the native Indians, Protestants practically started this nation. They were not perfect, but their aspirations were for honoring the God of the Bible --- and the Bible was the first text book in schools.

By their own shortcomings and recklessness the repubs lost the majority and it may be headed that way come 2009 --- so maybe another repub President in the person of John McCain may do.

Looks like another F in American History for take-it-in-the-ass.

By modern political world standards Barach obama is not a leftist. Its just anything that isnt Republican ideology is considered left on this site so weak is the political debate

Its funny how the Conservative Party in the UK -THE COUNTRY THAT GAVE THE WORLD CAPITIlISM and the party of Margaret Thatcher,JOhn Major and Winston Chuchill- 1 in 3 Mps would vote for Obama

They must be a bunch of lefties also!!

Probably Hindu lovers also. What on earth is wrong with the Hindu People as mentioned above??

Palin is the circus sideshow of this election. She's meant to distract everyone from the fact that the race is between Obama and McCain. We've seen that Obama is truly the freshest thing to come out of American politics since JFK and McCain (a candidate the Republicans called unbalanced during his 1980 run for the highchair) is really just a continuation of the policies that have destroyed the US in 8-short years.

Americans would be best to remember that they don't elect a VP, they elect a president - and only one candidate is truly presidential (and he's not the one who keeps hugging George Bush!).

As a Christian, I am outraged that the invasion of a country that never harmed us, the killing of over 100,000 of its citizens, and the continued occupation of the country is called "a task from God."

The campaign slogan of Obama/Biden should be:
"It's the hypocrisy, stupid."

The problem with the Republican campaign are:

1. Their current slogan "Country First" is completely hypocritical of their ideology of "individual responsibility."

2. Their lack of detailed policies.

3. They are promoting "change" but they are following the same ideology that has failed our country.

4. They state we are "winning" the war....but they do not admit their prior mistakes of actually starting the war on false accusations. I BELIEVE WE WERE RIGHT IN ATTACKING AFGHANISTAN AFTER 9/11, NOT IRAQ

Palin is the new Bush. Foreign inexperience. Denial of global warming.Religious certainty. Mass appeal on the most superficial level. She should be ignored as much as possible so the issues don't become ignored.

and....OH YAH!....they think they are "GOD'S" party....but GOD likes people who help other people (wasnt that Jesus's message?"....not rich aristocrats who are satisfied with other humans not receiving the same type of fundamental resources needed to succeed.

yah, but Jesus loves her, and Jesus died for her sins, that's right, the god that can't die died for her sins, he gave up a lot, huh?

now you have no valid response....Jesus died for ALL of OUR SINS! not just her buddy

Onna.....I am not directing the previous response to you....but to the general conservative right wing fascist.

You must mean he "died and was resurrected" because surely if he died from crucifiction then he would have also died from either of a variety of aging diseases if he had not been crucified.

Now if he resurrected, where the hell is he??

Did you hear they found his bone box back in the 80's?

I am not even Christian...just giving the benefit of doubt to all Christians

Did you hear they found his bone box back in the 80's?

#222 | Posted by rosemountbomber at 2008-09-06 02:47 PM

actually they HAVE found a box from a Jesus of that time, they have found many boxes from that period... that was an excellent "Naked Archaeologist" episode, too btw...and the Naked Science one where there were many Jesus's and Mary's then as there seem to be now.

Hispanics and Catholics still seem to love the names Jesus and Mary!

I am pretty sure there was a Man named Jesus. I am just not so sure he was a God tho. And there have been a lot of Men who thought they were Gods, too.

You are right and none of Them are HERE NOW either! Except in our memories and however we were able to document Them.

Go figure! Death appears to be permanent!

Humans are very interesting creatures if I do say so myself.

In trying to explain this away WE have come up with some amazing stories. No one knows what is on the other side the wall of of DEATH as NO ONE ever comes back but we sure got some mighty fine stories so we can sleep at night don't we?

We wouldn't have the politics we have so shamefully corrupt and incompetent if the voters weren't equally corrupt and incompetent.

An excellent point Ray, and I could not agree with you more.

Maybe you need to take another look at the "myths".

Maybe it is you that needs to examine the source of your beliefs. You will find the Bible lacking in originality, and full of stolen stories from older discarded religions. The same applies to the god you worship. The god you worship is based on theose stolen stories from older discarded religions.

It's a lot like worshipping a cartoon character. Everyone knows it's a cartoon except the people who believe in cartoons.

Cartoons, I can believe in. The goodness of man, that's something for fools.

"Everyone knows it's a cartoon except those that believe in cartoons...."

I think you're referring to professional wrestling, Bob.

"It's a lot like worshipping a cartoon character...."

I'd like to meet the person that does that. Marvel or DC?

I think you're referring to professional wrestling, Bob.

Professional wrestling has more truth in it that the Bible. The wrestlers are ral people, and sometimes the pain is real. Much more reality than the Bible, or the Biblical "God".

Buffalo chip hates G-d and believes in the goodness of man. PT Barnum would have loved him...

My name is Barack Obama and I'm going to change the way Washington does business...

LOL!

...so which politician are you going to "Believe" in in 2012?

"Sometimes the pain is real...."

Because Gorgeous George told you so? LOL. See you in church.

Wait... 'Chip believes in Obama? Now THAT is crazier than believing in a cartoon character!
