Fucking DVR!!
I missed the speech and tried to record it, but ended up with the Fox News aftermath instead.
Without watching the speech, I felf the Fox analysis was very good. It was balanced and informative - Danni is going to go apeshit when she reads this.
Anyhow, here is what I gathered....
It was a good speech. The setting was absolutely incredible - the huge crowd, the fireworks, the applause...If Obama doesn't get a serious bounce from this, I'll be shocked.
According to Fox analysis, the content was playbook Democratic rhetoric. Now, I saw clips of the speech and had mixed reactions. At times, I rolled my eyes. At times I thought - ouch! That was a good one!
All in all, good work on the part of Obama and the DNC.
The Repubs now have their work cut out for them. McCain needs to come accross as a serious candidate whose wisdom transcends Obama and he needs to do so forcefully. He needs to be the safe choice - the guy one can rely on to safeguard America. On screen, McCain is likeable, but he doesn't match the charisma of Obama. He just doesn't. He needs to distinguish himself. He needs a homerun next week. His veep pick is important, but secondary. He needs to step up at the RNC and deliver an excellent speech. Given the glimpses of what I saw tonight, McCain can't win on gimmicks. He's going to have to convince the public that he's the best man for the job.
Kudo's to the Obama camp for delivering to the extent that this election will likely come down to 'mano y mano' - which is the way it should be.
PS - I saw the clip of Obama and his wife walking on-stage with Biden and his wife and I have a couple of observations:
1. On that clip, Michelle looked large (not in a good way) when standing next to Biden's cum-dumpster.
2. Barack and Michelle displayed what I construed to be genuine love for eachother. In reading the body-language they make for a couple truly in-love. Granted, our current Prez and first-lady exude the same, but I digress. Regardless, their apparent affection for eachother serves as a strong-point for Obama's aspirations IMO.
