How Obama Picked Biden

You see, the people at Obama campaign headquarters put a bunch of names on the dartboard, and they carefully spaced them out so there was equal distance between each of the choices.

Then, they turned and started throwing the darts at each other's eyes. The survivors played MyGut (tm) with each other. Before fatal peritonitis kicked in, the last remaining man standing knocked over the dartboard and let in the office dog.

A week later, some people broke into the office, found which name the dog had taken a dump on, and Biden was chosen!

It's obvious Obama is no good at kicking butt when he needs to so he made a good choice in picking Biden.

Obama is too polite all the time. He hasn't a clue as to how to really kick butt.

The VP candidate has traditionally been the one to be the attack dog in a campaign allowing the Prez candidate to remain above the fray.

The pick of Biden over Evan Byah had absolutely nothing to do with strategy helping to win over one state or another. It had everything to do with which VP candidate could be the meanest junk yard dog of the bunch. That's Biden. Obama made a wise choice.

I think McCain and Osama are both awful choices, and I'm sure that either one will get a few things right, fuck up a few things, and otherwise maintain the status quo.

A former senior official in the Reagan White House once told me that on a 360-degree compass the most radical president might be able to move it 1 or 2 points with eight years of effort; the rest is controlled by unelected bureaucrats and staffers who actually control everything.

That's why all candidates promise so much, but ultimately accomplish so little. Putting a lot of hope in McCain or Osama is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

The Friday evening version of Joe Biden's Wikipedia entry remains firmly ensconced in a Firefox tab on my desktop, so it can be compared to its current form as Obama-Biden's busy bees brush it up. I'm doing comparisons as time allows, and there isn't much of it at the moment.

One thing is quickly obvious -- a section heading for a whole year has disappeared:

I can't get to the article (don't have NYT logon and don't want one) so I admit I am ignorant of the details raised in the article.

Nappy, It basically comes down to this paragraph from the story:

The article also mentions Biden's ability to speak on his feet (Obama can't) and his pugnaciousness (Obama is relatively timid by comparison).

That was essentially the gist of the article, plus some stuff on why the others on the list (notably Bayh) were passed over.

Biden has had the best plans for leaving Iraq all along.

Obama knows that we just can't 'march out' the way Ron Paul was suggesting but that we have to have Iran and Syria at the table as well if we're going to leave and not have a regional war.

Biden also has impeccable foreign affairs/policy credentials..............you can try to attack Obama/Biden for that but if you voted for Bush, remember that he bragged that he had never even left the country before he was running for president.
