If someone is disturbed enough to think about abandoning their child they should definitely be allowed to since they will absolutey ruin the life of the child if forced to raise them. It is far better the child gets taken on by the state and hopefully adopted by caring parents.

Some people aren't qualified to be parents. Some can't handle the challenge of working and raising a child. There just isn't enough time in the day, and the child ends up hanging out with the wrong people. It shows a great deal of courage to admit the state would probably give your child a better life. That IS the point.

Some may abandon children with medical difficulties. I can certainly understand that. The state can better afford the medical payments.
