This has little to do with Cindy McCain, outside of the "only child" comment.

It has a lot more to do with Jim Hensley. The father.

He's slightly more than just Cindy's dad. He's the man who bankrolled John McCain's first political runs. He introduced him to Arizona's developers. He was involved as much as John was with Charles Keating and Silverado. He was rumored to be at least an affiliate of the mob.

And, he cheated on his first wife with Cindy's mom, just like she helped John cheat on his first wife.

The bottom line is that McCain did nothing wrong, and everyone who uses the Keating Five as an example of corruption against McCain either doesn't know what they are talking about, or is being intentionally deceptive."

I can't help but think that it would have looked better if McCain could claim that he "...severed all ties with Keating immediately upon learning that federal banking laws were being violated." After all, the way it was reported above, he could have been more than willing to be part of the deal as long as no one ever learned what was really going on.

Turns out the whole "Mother Teresa encouraged me to take the baby home" story was bullshit.

I have three half-siblings, but I always say I have two sisters and a brother. Of course, I lived with them, my mother and stepfather most of the time. Before he died, my stepfather told my mother he wanted his obituary to say he was survived by his four children, not his three children or his three children and one stepdaughter. I was surprised by that, and I can't tell you how much it meant to me. OTOH, I was my father's only child, and my stepmother didn't have any kids from her previous marriage. Once when I met some father and stepmother's friends, one of them said to my dad, "I didn't know you had a daughter." I feel for Cindy's half-siblings.
