When Sen. Joe Biden returns to Capitol Hill Monday, vice presidential speculation will rest squarely on him, CNN reports. His quickly-planned trip to Georgia Saturday night at the behest of that country's president left Washington buzzing he is the most likely choice.

I think (as I have) this would be a great match.

Biden's known nationally, respected, adds gravitas, and is likeable.

Plus, he'll make a hell of a pit bull in calling out McCain's stances that mirror W's.

Biden's a terrific choice for Obama. His knowledge of foreign policy is unsurpassed among the Democrats and he's an aggressive (and funny) politician, which is what you want a vice president to be.

Plus Biden likes how "clean" Obama is for a black guy.

Funny? Next you'll say Tim Russert died laughing.

Obama spoke up for Biden's character when he was criticized in one of the debates about that remark, Joe.

You must not have watched the Democratic debates while Biden was still running, Wisgod. Biden's hilarious.

"Obama spoke up for Biden's character when he was criticized in one of the debates about that remark, Joe."

So? That doesn't mean that he didn't make the remark, and that Obama is stupid enough to risk hearing a few more of them.

My only objection to Biden was his vote on the bankruptcy bill but I guess in a state so small with so many corporations headquarters there it isn't surprising. How would he now vote on it if there were a tie in the Senate?

If it's Biden I'll bet Obama makes a funny remark about him. Not at the convention, but soon after.

Biden is funny, but if he were a Rep you'd think he was a racist.

The Obama comment may not have bothered Obama, but it was clearly an intolerant remark. As was his 7 Eleven comment.
How many can you guys explain away considering your side throws the race card around so often?

JOE

Biden meant it as a compliment.

You just can't stand Obama, so we don't expect any positive remarks from you.

Biden's known nationally, respected, adds gravitas, and is likeable.

Hence his powerful showing in the DNC Primaries...

CLEAN: Not corrupted

Had nothing to do with Obama's hygiene.

Started out as a good thread.

Looks like it's headed south now....

This from a guy who is chucking a vote just so he can get away with using racist remarks.

What he said was no different then George Allen saying "Macaca" but he's a racist...

God its gonna be a long 4 years...

I actually like Biden-- And he is a funny guy.

He wore that University of Michigan ball cap to the SCOTUS nomination hearing (?).

Obama needs a governor who can bring a purple state or keep a big blue state blue.

He could use a Bayh. Sam Nunn is too old--but a guy from the south would be helpful.

Don't think Clark is any help as VP.

The campaigns must be going nuts over this issue--both campaigns.

How do you make it out of your house without having your lunch money taken? You can't possibly be that gullible or that immune to sarcasm.

Had nothing to do with Obama's hygiene.

Too bad, because I hear that Barry not only flosses twice a day, but has become enamoured of bidets since his European tour...

I told you guys it was gonna be Biden.

In my continuum of true predictions, I will say we are one week, from the time that he is announced, till the hillary lesbitarians, like corky, start whining about Obama being a new member of the good ole boys network.

Plus Biden likes how "clean" Obama is for a black guy.

JOE

I offer an definition from a political perspective, and the first thing you want to do is make some asshole remark "balls in Obama's mouth".

Geesh!!

"You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."
-Joe Biden

AU-

Focus on the rest of my post. I see you are ignoring it because you most likely have no response.

And if Tom Latham (Rep IA 4th dist) became speaker of the house, the three most powerful people in the country would be

*drum roll*

Obama Biden Latham

How is that not a career destroying like "macaca" was for George Allen?

You can't possibly be that gullible or that immune to sarcasm.

So you're NOT voting for Cynthia?

"How is that not a career destroying like "macaca" was for George Allen?"

I'll give you one guess.

I think if you're a lefty the above article has to give you some pause.
I agree with everything other than the way the opinion writer tries to explain away the "articulate" quote. If he's saying Obama is the first, then Braun and Jackson were inarticulate.

Does anyone care to help Whatsleft out? If not, he's on his own.

"I am a Zionist. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist"--Joe Biden

From the following:

www.youtube.com

I'm sorry, but Obama is just picking Biden to shore up his support from the Israel firsters. Business as usual as our country again will perpetuate its interventionist follies.

Its sickening that an American citizen would actually celebrate being a Zionist.

Its the same with John "We're all Georgians now" McCain.

Another fucking sock puppet who puts America second.

Biden is a great guy who will have his foot in his mouth about half the time if he performs as usual.

""I am a Zionist. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist"--Joe Biden"

Thanks, I never knew that about him. It sure doesn't improve my opinion of him.

uhmm... WL, you might want to visit 101's blog and read some of his posts.

OMG!

As much as I dislike Hillary, even she would be a better pick than that asshole Biden.

None of what I'm saying has anything to do with Obama. I'm actually saying that for his sake, he shouldn't pick Biden, as he is too big a liability to the campaign.

Most Democrats like Biden. Many Republicans and independents do too, particularly on the issue of his foreign policy expertise.

Biden's verbal gaffes, most born of his love of talking too much, have long since been overshadowed by the intellect and experience he brings to the Senate. Back in 2005, Biden had the second-highest approval rating among senators contemplating a run for president:

thenextprez.blogspot.com

I've like Joe Biden and even considered he might be one of the best ones in the Dem primaries to run for the Presidency in 2008 because of his foreign policy experience.

The ONE incident which sticks negatively in my mind about Biden, though, was when Scott Ritter appeared in 1998 before a Senate Committee to discuss Iraq and feasibility of continuing weapons inspections over there. I recall it because I just happened to be watching it live on tv.

9/3/1998 -Washington -- Scott Ritter, the U.S. Marine who headed a key inspection unit in UNSCOM (the United Nations Special Committee) until his resignation last week, was the sole witness at a joint hearing of the Senate Armed Forces and Foreign Relations Committees September 3....

At the time Ritter had been pushing the Senate committee to allow weapons inspections to continue before even thinking of going to war. Biden -- in a very snarky tone -- told Ritter that any decision by the Administration (at that time it was Clinton) whether or not to go to war was "above your pay grade" and just dismissed Ritter's imput in a put down manner.

For some reason that comment has stuck with me over the years and I can never think of Biden without remembering it. Ritter was right and Biden was wrong -- something we all saw come to fruition with Bush's horrendous "shock and awe" rained down on a defenseless Iraq only 5 years afterwards. When the UN weapons inspectors on the ground in Iraq in 2003 were not able to substantiate Bush's false claim of wmd's in Iraq Bush got nervous he wouldn't get his war so he yanked them out of Iraq and bombed that nation two days later.

Joe Biden's scoffing of Ritter -- who had made the same claim about the non-existence of wmd's in Iraq back in 1998 -- makes me wonder just how "great" Biden's foreign policy creds really are.

Okay Celine, maybe it's just the fog of Monday. Why don't you explain to me what I misunderstood about this?

I'm only voting for her so when I say racist shit and get called on it I can just say "Fuck you, I voted for Cynthia McKinney!".

It will also come in handy when your ilk claim the only reason people that don't vote Obama do so is because he's black.

He also brings Obama's plagarism back to the table. He himself got busted lifting a British lawmakers speech.

Sure there are things McCain has done as well, but Biden has too much baggage.

You know what they say:

When the going gets tough, AU gets going...to Kos.

Let's just say that when all the usual drunks come in and trash up a thread with nothingness it quickly becomes a waste of time.

Tough going? Hardly. It became a waste of time in 79 seconds once the usual idiots showed up.

Biden seems to have the rightists frothing at the mouth at about the right pace---seems good to me.

Which party is the Gov. of Delaware??

If Biden runs and wins VP then who would Delaware get for a Senator? I think Senate seats should be a prime consideration for choice of VP.

Buffalo Bob, is publically declaring oneself a proud Zionist (like that idiot Biden) a good thing or a bad thing in regards to American interests?

Stop trying to turn this into a left-right issue and instead focus on what's best for your country.

If Obama/Biden was one brand of cigarette and McCain and his eventual VP lackey were another, does choosing between one or the other really change our life expectancy if we've been chainsmoking for the last twenty years?

Can Obama really pick someone who voted for and supported going to war in Iraq?

The man has spoken the ultimate truth about DR.

If you have something of substance to say, you better say it before the stupid starts.

When the UN weapons inspectors on the ground in Iraq in 2003 were not able to substantiate Bush's false claim of wmd's in Iraq Bush got nervous he wouldn't get his war so he yanked them out of Iraq and bombed that nation two days later.

Interesting seeing as Biden was behind Bush one hundred percent. Biden also appears to be very hawkish when it comes to Iran. How will these play out for Obama?

Am I the only one who finds it ironic Obama runs on the change agenda and selects a life long Washington politician? Who I believe never served a day in the military.

Can Obama really pick someone who voted for and supported going to war in Iraq?

As long as he doesn't wear pantsuits.

Oh, damn!

I remember him trying on Hil's pantsuit, the blue one, I think, during the primary.

It fit pretty well, except it was a little large around the crotch.

Biden on Hussein and Iraq...

"This is a guy who is an extreme danger to the world, and this is a guy who is in every way possible seeking weapons of mass destruction."

And

"I think he has anthrax. I have not seen any evidence that he has smallpox, but you hear them say, Tim (Russert), is the last smallpox outbreak in the world was in Iraq; ergo, he may have a strain."

And

"We know he continues to attempt to gain access to additional capability, including nuclear capability."

And

"First of all, we don't know exactly what he has. It's been five years since inspectors have been in there, number one. Number two, it is clear that he has residual of chemical weapons and biological weapons, number one."

At least the left is consistent in their bullshit... got to give them that...

Biden's trip was made because of a request by Georia's president, I guess he no longer trusts McCain's advisor (lobbyist for Georgia)

Biden will be involved with Obama, I'm sure of that but VP, I doubt it!

"I am a Zionist. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist" -- Joe Biden

I'm really surprised. I never knew Joe Biden made the statement he's a Zionist. No wonder Biden was so hot to trot when it came to bombing Iraq even all the way back in 1998. (See my 2:55 p.m. above.) Every one of today's Zionists are pro-Neocon if not actually a Neocon themselves.

We've had enough of the Neocons these last eight years. No mas!!

Wrong pick, Obama. Try again. This time try and make it a politician who puts the U.S. ahead of Israel for a change. Isn't Joe Lieberman bad enough?

ONNA is probably right about Biden and his trip.

i sincerely hope kaine, bayh, and biden are all red herrings.

wesley clark is a southern catholic military general who outranks mccain, has a degree in economics, and led a war with zero american casualties.

and the only individual that makes sense as vp.

oh, and he's opposed the iraq war from the beginning!

Clark was widely considered to be Hillary's first choice.

Obama could do worse.

Wasn't there a thread on here a few days ago about Clark being told not to bother to come to the convention?

Don't know if that was ever confirmed. I hope not because I like him a lot and always thought he'd be a good VP selection for whoever the eventual nominee was.

there was a thread regarding that, but it's starting to seem like clark was being coy and the obama campaign's shooting red herrings.

one can only hope.

if you want a reason to shoot yourself in the head listen to joe biden go on for hours and hours.the man loves to hear himself speak.

this would be great.
my pick is two weeks before he says something stupid.

and so what happened to the 'all about change' candidate?
I thought that hope was coming to all of us because of change..........
BIDEN AINT CHANGE.......he's the same old tired piece of shit liberal fucks we have always had.

Clark was widely considered to be Hillary's first choice.

Is she boosting her Senate staff or something?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! My first pick for president. There is no better choice for president after Obama gets shot!

I have been hoping he woud pick Joe Biden and I will be very disappointed if he doesn't.

OBAMA/BIDEN

"he's the same old tired piece of shit liberal fucks we have always had."

this has been an issue for me for awhile.
i want to vote for a conservative though there are none to be found.
the reps have turned into big spending christian ideologues.
financial responsibility has gone out the window and now we've mass spending (not investing), nation-building is the rule... on and on...
these are the liberals.
mind you, not the 'same old tired piece of shit liberal fuck we've always had'.
these are republicans.
and btw - mccain isn't a conservative either.
it appears some here cannot tell the difference.

all the best.

"my pick is two weeks before he says something stupid."

it'd take biden two weeks!!!!
this is proof that bush is on vacation.
he hasn't said anything dumb in days.

must be rough to go through life being wrong about so many thing so often, bushlover2.
in recalling your posts over the months, i get the impression that you've learned to live with it.
good for you.
now... off with you... go play with your toy goat.

all the best.
