when people tighten their belts, cookies are one of the first things to go.

goodbye mrs. chips.

They can always have a bake sale.

Her white chocolate, Macadamia nut cookies were the best.

so none of you think this is a crumby deal?

Lots of food businesses going belly up. It's a sign that people are not eating out as often. Off hand I can think of others: Bennigans, Steak and Ale, Stone Cold Creamery. Starbucks had to close stores of course. You'll be seeing a lot of retailers going in the red too. More to come.

it's a walmart economy.

That's the way the cookie crumbles.

LIP

My dad forbid my sister and I from using that phrase.

The reason he gave was that it originated with 'The Purple Gang', and he didn't want us saying anything 'gangsta' LOL

TV is the last thing to go..... I have seen countless evictions, people abandoning their homes due to bankruptcy and people losing their homes. The last thing to go is the multiple dishes and flat screen TVs. LOL!

TV is the last thing to go.....

I'm a goner. I don't own TV at home, but I do have one in my cabin (as we all do) on the rig. So I guess I still have my head above the water, so to speak.

Corporate bankruptcies are another abysmal record of the Shrub. Any media giants ever mention this. No, just like the unprovoked Georgian attack of innocent Russians in South Osseida. The entire attack was directed by American Advisors. Yet none of the media will report this the way it happened. No wonder people are so misinformed.

How do you know?

You know, nutcase, you always come up with these bizarre allegations yet never any credible links to back them up.

I guess that's why you call yourself nutcase.

I always find humor in these posts that say, "The MSM does not report this, but I know it".

How are these people privy to this inside information unless they are right there themselves? I mean, they admit the MSM doesn't report it. Does it float to them on brainwaves or some other medium I am unfamiliar with?

they could use nutcase over at the cia, fbi, naacp, oss, AND huffpo. such a grand supply of info there - all true i'm sure.

Figures. Just like buffalo bob. Nutcase should call himself Clarabelle the Clown

it's a walmart economy

It's getting there. I wish I could buy stock in Aldi.

I thought Mrs Fields was bankrupt already.

The best cookies right now are made by Kashi - healthy, too.

The TCBY chain must have lost a lot of money. Their stuff was good, but they were occupying such a small niche, one that was not crying out to be filled in the first place.

You are right, grumpy. I'm surprised they lasted this long. I never see a queue at their stores and even very few customers. Yes, their stuff was good, but to me yogurt just does not compete with good old fashioned artery clogging ice cream

The real Mrs Fields opened her store in 1977 in Palo Alto and I'll bet those cookies were delicious. Today, trucked in from who knows where to the franchises, not so much.

Most people are having a hard time in today's economy and things like mediocre franchised cookies and yogurt are for when you have spare dollars to burn.

The Mrs. Fields failure may be my fault. I forwarded that e-mail recipe to my sister.

Gman & the rest of you clueless wonders that think you are voting for conservative candidates:

Every newspaper, radio and newspaper outside the US and England knows what really happened in Georgia. Patrick Buchanan and Paul Craig Roberts have reported the truth inside our sick system. Here are two links on that subject.

www.realclearpolitics.com

www.counterpunch.org

As for the Corporate Bankruptcy Rate here is one news item on a topic more widely available.

www.prnewswire.com

I'm not making any of this shit up. But, you are correct, I rarely provide links, often drawing on my memory of past articles I have read. It is much easier to be well informed watching Comedy Central than the News Hour. The coverup of how the US funded, armed and instigated the attack on South Ossietta speaks volumes about a conspiracy to misinform between Government and Corporations which of course includes the broadcast industry. Pretty sad state of affairs in this country.

Nutsack,

What does Mrs. Fields have to do with any of this shit?

You are not right in the head are you? To hate as much as you do is not right.

BTW, what have you personally done to right these so called wrongs?

"""You are not right in the head are you? To hate as much as you do is not right. """

On the other hand, to blindly accept obvious lies because of misplaced loyalty seems to work for the pant pissing retired crowd.

Mrs Fields? Nothing. But the media is neglecting to educate the public regarding Shrub's record spike in Corporate Bankrupcies. One of the many topics that are "off the table".

Apparently, the defense for pointing out that our leadership is a gang of evil murderous thugs with less decency than the Corleone Family, is to say I hate, and ignore the murder, corruption and mayhem our leaders are engaged in? This is a political problem akin to being a Father stuck in Family Court. If you complain that your ex, or her lawyer, or your own lawyer is stealing from you the Court will never consider that fact, but instead will conclude you are an angry man and fuck you over more for even daring to raise the issue.

What can or should you or I do about that's what we believe? Connect with people that care about the Constitution, human rights and educate them. The Symbionese Liberation Army and Black Panthers tried Revolution, but didn't get very far. Most people simply cannot believe that our leaders are as evil, meany and nasty as they really are.

Gman & the rest of you clueless wonders that think you are voting for conservative candidates:

???

I have no idea who I am voting for. It's still to early in the campaign to decide.

Have you been mixing gin with your koolaid this morning?

It is much easier to be well informed watching Comedy Central. . .

That certainly explains a lot.

"Shrub's record spike in Corporate Bankrupcies"

The defense corporations and associated supporting industries seem to be doing real well, as are the oil companies. Maybe you're in the wrong business.

Shrub's record spike in Corporate Bankrupcies"

Exactly how many corporations does he own, anyway?

Gman,

So there's still hope for you and this country. You think you have a choice, kinda like between a yellow or red potato, when all spokesmen for real change are quickly marginalized.

Polling has proven people who listen to Jon Stewart are far better informed than those that listen to Fox News. Sorry, its just a fact.

I don't know and it hardly matters, his policies have led to more Corporate Bankruptcies than the Great Depression. His policies have also simultaneously made it extra expensive, if not impossible to file personal bankruptcy, as long as you have a job. Its been that way for school loans and child support and alimony for a very long time.

Polling has proven people who listen to Jon Stewart are far better informed than those that listen to Fox News. Sorry, its just a fact.

I doubt that very seriously. Do you have a link to a credible web site -- preferably the one that conducted the poll?

"I doubt that very seriously."

A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last

thinkprogress.org

people-press.org

Study shows Fox News viewers misinformed about war, Iraq, WMD
www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com

Thanks for the link, null. I am always looking to get to the bottom of things. I'm sure you read the people-press link too, so I'm sure you can anticipate what I am about to say.

Clearly thingprogress cherry picked their data from p-p. If you read how the poll was taken it was admitted that people got their news from 4-5 sources, yet it did not explain how they differentiated let's say the people who watch both Fox and CC. If one of the poll respondants watched both, how can one say from which source they got their news?

Also it said that 43% watched Fox and 16% watched CC. If the pollsters or the person interpreting the data noted that the person watched CC but did not consider Fox, it could be successfully argued that their source was Fox. I wish the pollsters would have explained this discrepancy.

FUrthermore, on the whole, Fox deals with a broader range of news. the Daily Show has a much higher political content. If one's world is only politics, (as is the case here on the DR) I can see where someone gets better coverage.

As usual with polls, they can be interpreted many ways.

Oh great nuggan go back 5 years to a dirt rag. AS USUAL your posts are just a waste of cyber space!

Mrs. Fields cookies....just another example of diet awareness causing food makers loss of market share, amongst other issues. Like Einstein Bagel...did you know one bagel has 60 grams of carbohydrates...all you should get in a lunch or dinner? Two and you are way over the top. Or Krispy Kreme...more carbo and fat in ONE donut then you should get for an entire meal.

The food pyramid....total chaos of which no one knows how to read/understand

Perhaps, Dave, but at least I'm not a proven liar like you.

If I'm going to read a Robert B. Parker novel and Spenser and Hawk are eating donuts then I've got to have a donut regardless of the whatzit pyramid thing.

Got milk?

Is that a ms fields, CC?

are cookies SUPPOSED to be healthy?

why the hell eat them?

We have a really good baker on the rig. Right now there are some of the best cc cookies I've ever eaten in there. My diabetes is suffering for it.

Is that a ms fields, CC?

No, she went broke. That cookie's from the oven in my kitchen.
But shhhhh, don't tell Judas.

I saw a segment here on local news about a revolutionary new treatment for diabetes that cures it.

They grew genes on lettuce (of all things) and then fed it to mice with diabetes.

100% cure rate. Even months later. Absolutely normal insulation production restored.

They estimated 2-3 years for humans.

Fingers crossed......

Vanderbilt scientist the reason for the local segment on TV news.

Human trials supposed to start within months.

This chocolate chip cookie recipe (from "diabetic-recipies.com") has ingredients that appear to be tastier than most of the standard "diabetic" chocolate chip cookie recipes out there. Have somebody whip you up a batch of them when you get home. Maybe you'll like them and hopefully they won't do a number on your blood sugar level.

The link I put below I believe discusses the study on a diabetes cure which AU spoke of in his 11:32.

The article happens to be mentioned on ScienceDaily.com -- one I enjoy reading. So many interesting subjects/articles. When you open the link below to see the article you'll see another link to "Diabetes" over in the left-hand column. ScienceDaily puts all the up to date news on diabetes and other medical issues plus at the top of the page is listed a number of other science-related topics (with dropdown menus).

Mrs. Fields is yummy.

They weren't just good cookies and yogurt.

Their Raspberry Muffins were fucking fabulous.

Thanks, CC and AU. Will check 'em out. Maybe if I just eat a lot of salad . . . *grin*
