The woman is dead, she gone on to oblivion, so she doesn't care what they wrote, this only reflects back on the family.

The usual "Remembrance" in a newspaper is often over emotional and frequently self-congratulatory and over-flattering.

I see nothing wrong with this family doing this (if they all agreed to it). It might help them, and it might help others understand them better.

They may also be glad to know that they are wrong, too, their mother will not be met in the "afterlife" by anybody.

I am happy that my name will not be remembered, rather than have it be remembered as the worst President of the United States with the blood of innocents on his hands. A man who invaded a nation for nothing and ruined the econimy of the United States and split the country in two. I agree with Chris, the nine kids should be grateful that they grew up and were able to have children of their own. If that was their attitude as to her death I should imagine that their attitude to her was similar in life. If I was Delores I would tell them to all go fuck themselves and definitely leave everything to the Cats Home. Personally I am leaving everything to a local wildlife sanctuary. I hope my obit says that I was kind to my pets and I raised a whole bunch of butterflies, dragonflies, lizards and spiders in my garden, I was decent and honest to my friends and associates and I adored and supported my husband, my Mum and my sister and her kids. Other than that my stepchildren can write an obit for me like Delores' kids did her, I will be worm food, I will care not.

How do you know the family member who put the obit in the newspaper had the approval of the other family members? Usually only one family member takes care of writing the obit and seeing that it's published in the newspaper.

What I think would be more interesting would be to follow up and see if any other family member might pubiish an "anti-obit obit" -- a retraction of the first obit with a second "kinder, gentler" obituary in the same newspaper. Or does the entire family agree with the first one?

I find it hard to believe that ALL 50 of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren hated "Mom's" and "Grandma's" guts so much so they would call attention to her in such a spiteful and hateful way. This woman probably never had an ounce of positive attention given to her when alive but then ends her life in a blaze of glory with an obituary hashed out on thousands of blogs. Well, at least she'll be "remembered" for something.
