A Wikipedia editor emailed Political Wire to point out some similarities between Sen. John McCain's speech today on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia article on the country Georgia. Given the closeness of the words and sentence structure, most would consider parts of McCain's speech to be derived directly from Wikipedia.

Couldn't be Bagdad John McAncient, after all he is a "maverick" and a "straight talker", beside he don't need no learning on how to use the typewriter with the tv screen.

This should come as a surprise to no one.

i am suprised

a week without obama who is on vacation in hawaii

and still there is barely any press on mccain

why?

cause he sucks

But I thought he didn't know how them compuboxes even worked?

"But I thought he didn't know how them compuboxes even worked?"

his wife used the googles for him

It is sad for our country that the best we can come up with are two individuals that cannot speak intellegently without a multitude of handlers and researchers.

Those where the proof? Seriously?
First sentence, one sentence is reasonably close but it's one freaking sentence and that would be the best way to say it. As for the second and third examples, they contain the same subject matter and use some of the same terms, imagine that talking about the same thing and using a couple the same words PLAGIARIST!!!

C'mon guys is that all you got?
Are you that blinded by your politics?

salam and a gator ;)

this isn't about proof

think about it

why is it with barack gone for the week
the only news about mccain is his "plagarizm"
that is probably not real

thats it?

nothing extrodinary?

he's a lame duck before even getting voted in.

"that is probably not real"

"that is probably not real"

Thats kind the point, remember the saying
"if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"? Well, it seem that when it comes to mccain it would be the complete opposite. This says more about the "reporter" then is does about mccain. Did he make some life changing speech? no. Did he rescue a cat from a burning building? no Did he fly to the moon to plant a bigger flag so you can see it with the naked eye from earth? no. He drove around drumming up support, which is exactly what obama would have been doing if he were no on vacation. If you can't find anything better than that to hit mccain with your not paying attention.

While this is hilarious, all it really proves is that his speechwriters are morons who should be fired for their laziness.

salamandagator,

it does say a lot about the reporter

but it also says a lot about how boring mccain is

Question killfred, what do you expect him to be doing?
At some point in any campaign there will be mundane tasks. If they are trying to stay in the news their sensationalism will often cause a slip. Mccain cannot afford to push for publicity if it will end negatively, as seen here, he is not sleeping with he press.

"Question killfred, what do you expect him to be doing?"

i expect and expected him to take full advantage of the fact that barack is on vacation

and make some noise

something

his campaign had time to stage something big
but they didn't

"and make some noise"

How do you top obama visiting his 58th state?
Sorry.

Would you rather he drum up empty excitement?
We already have one of those guys.
Dammit, can't help myself.

again

you keep talking about obama

mccain has NOTHING to talk about
except obama

mccains platform is
"don't vote for obama because.."

its not
"vote mccain because.."

the reasons for not liking obama
is the same reasons
why people call yankee fans 'jumping the band wagon'

its not really a reason to hate the yankees
but because they are popular, its cool to be against them

"you keep talking about obama"

Those were just for fun.

"mccains platform is
"don't vote for obama because..""

Tell me true, is obamas any different?
Yes is see the irony in that deflection.

To me when you look into it
You have a guy that would have probably walked away with the election 4-8 years ago that was like by both sides. Someone who has a history of reaching across the isle. Someone with a long stint in the federal government and a career in the military.

Then you've got obama. While mccain is moving to the right to get the far right voters, obama has to move to the center to get the sane ones. He has been shown to be as partisan and closeminded as can get. He was given a seat in IL and barley has had time to get his name on a locker for and sort of federal government.

Those are the men. The issues are a personal taste thing for the most part. By now the voters should be smart enough not to believe the campaign promises that are made every four years, you know that Fool me once" saying? It does not take a genius to figure out that as soon as they are elected their campaign issues become null and void and it comes down to the person. You choice, an unproven rookie or a proven veteran. But think about it, if this was 2000 and the last president was clinton would mccain be facing the hatred he is now? I think not, and i would go farther and say that if people would see beyond the infantile "mcsame" insult and realize they are not voting against bush mccain would be destroying obama. But thats just me.

salamandagator

things have been said and done by mccain in the last 8 years that have changed my opinion of mccain

besides that
the pendulum of america has swung too far right
and needs to come back left

i think being too right is just as bad as being too left

and mostly i think life will be harder as a muslim in america if mccain is elected.

you may think thats good or not

but being an american muslim
i certainly have seen the ill affects of the bush administration on me and my family

"the reasons for not liking obama
is the same reasons
why people call yankee fans 'jumping the band wagon'

its not really a reason to hate the yankees
but because they are popular, its cool to be against them"

I guess i'm a little lost here. Jumping on the bandwagon would be following someone because of popularity rather than against it. Are you saying that mccain is more popular the obama?

no i'm saying a lot of people hate on obama because of the obama fans

obama is the popular one as far as tv is concerned

a lot of people in my opinion are against obama just because so many people are nuts for him

i personally don't get nuts for anything except hot chicks

but thats just me

"the pendulum of america has swung too far right"

Not to get tedious on you but what exactly has gone to far right?

Most of what are now considered conservatives values are for lack of a better term traditional. The right is a party that offers little change i will admit that. But on the other hand the "progressives" have many radical changes that they would have take place. I guess that is a fundamental difference between the right and the left, the right says fix it with the tools we have or get new tools and the left says throw it away and we will try to buy something new.

I am lot calling you a liar or anything like that but i would like you to elaborate on the harder being a muslim under bush comment. What do you attributes to bush as opposed to the world events that took place in the last 8 years? I am genuine curious.

"a lot of people in my opinion are against obama just because so many people are nuts for him"

I think there is a degree of truth to that, in the same way "bible thumpers" drive people from religion the "super obama" crowd can drive people away. But i do think this is a fairly small percentage compared to the anti-bush crowd which is translated into an anti-mccain mentality. Neither are fair to the men running and i do believe they should be judged them selfs and their choices not ambiguous affiliations.

"Neither are fair to the men running and i do believe they should be judged them selfs and their choices not ambiguous affiliations."

agreed

"but i would like you to elaborate on the harder being a muslim under bush comment."

flying with a last name like ali

comments people make like "i hope you don't have a bomb" - yes thats not bush, but its an attitude that has been allowed to prevail through the bush presidency. he used the word crusade which brought an appearence of battling islam and not radical muslims.

having to somehow "proove" that i'm an american to so many people after they find out i'm muslim (you are with us or against us)

donating or running charities without suspicion of funding terrorist organizations

its a religious obligation to donate to the less fortunate in islam, the worst can be when a charity is found to have some connections with no fault of the donator. All of a sudden the donator is demonized.

any story that has muslim attached to it becomes about all of islam and not the perps.

mccain with statements like

I dont want to trade with them. All they want to trade is burkas.--

doesn't help either

yes al qaeda
but burka is a muslim garb
and it gets translated as all muslims.

and both bush and mccain support pastors that say things like "Christianity was founded by the virgin-born Jesus Christ. Islam was founded by Mohammed, a demonpossessed pedophile who had 12 wives and his last one was a 9-year-old girl. And I will tell you, Allah is not Jehovah either. Jehovah's not going to turn you into a terrorist that'll try to bomb people and take the lives of thousands and thousands of people."

that really has helped

And obama plagiarizes JFK and MLK, but nobody cares. reminds me of the dr left.....

It is a sad reality now that a man is not judged as a man but as the entirety of those wearing that label are. Thank you for the info.

It is a sad reality now that a man is not judged as a man but as the entirety of those wearing that label are.

Welcome to the world of sheeple.

It's beyond my how anyone could ever pull the party handle on election day. I can't figure out if it's pure laziness in not learning about the individual candidates, or just too much koolaid at the trough.

"Welcome to the world of sheeple."

Come on, conformity is not so bad. It completely eliminates the need for that pesky thinking thing we used to do.

unfortunately there are a lot of people that just knee jerk talk out their ass about many things

just cause they are part of that group.

I would think it would be hard to talk out of your ass without at least jerking the knee a little.

McCain has discovered Wiki?

Who sez you can't teach an old letch a new trick?

Good fer you, old man!

Wot next fer ole John?

Icanhazcheeseburgers?

Youporn?

email?

Seems the sky's the limit fer Jurassic John.

The plagarism thing don't really bother Spud overmuch.

Beats having McAncient mumble his way through some more painful ad-lib attempts, have another senior moment or gawd ferbid that he should start singing again!

^_^

Be Well.
