Scientists say they are closer to developing materials that could render people and objects invisible. Researchers have demonstrated the ability to cloak three-dimensional objects using artificially engineered materials that redirect light around the objects. Previously, they only have been able to cloak very thin two-dimensional objects.

All the posters on this one must be wearin' one.....

The cops are gonna freak on this shit.

The "cops" will be the first to get them... if we are hearing about it someone probably already has one...that's my usual theory anyway.

Cool

Well I have one and I put it on to sneak in the girls bathroom. Sadly it didn't work that day.

I'm surprised that this article implies this is a first. I remember reading about the Japanese demonstrating this technology two or three years ago.

I want to cloak my car! I can't drive 55! LOL!

A friend of mine in college used to describe his beater car as "A Rolls Royce with a Romulen cloaking device to make it look like a rusty Dodge Dart"

Yeah, it'll probably start with law enforcement, but it'll end up like Tasers. Whoever makes it will get greedy and start selling a consumer version, eliminating law enforcement's temporary advantage.

Every cop I know says criminals have way better weapons and tech than they do. An invisibility cloak would be a bad guy's dream come true.

I am a Brad Pitt look alike cloaked as an offshore ET. The effect is remarkable

"An invisibility cloak would be a bad guy's dream come true."

If by "bad guy's" you mean "any guy's", then I agree.

101 will have one for stealth posts on unsuspecting newbies.

I'll save my money until we get jetpacks.

Jetpacks? Is a jetpack going to get you in to Rosie O'Donnels changing room? Is a jetpack going to let you sneak in to Rosanne Barr's bedroom and watch her have sex? Is a jetpack going to get you in to the locker room of the female Russian weight lifters?

Yeah, good luck anonymously punching mimes with your jetpack loser...

Thanks 101, now I need to get eye and brain bleach to get those images out of my head.

101, I just threw up a little after reading your post...

"I'll save my money until we get jetpacks."

I'm going to use my invisibility cloak to nick one. Maybe yours.

How're you going to steal my jetpack when it's on my back and I'm floating 100 feet in the air? Answer that one, smart guy.
