OMG who is hollywood going to get to play the concerned, wise, mentor, cool, wisecracking black guy?

seriously, hope he is ok, he seems to be a class act

Great actor and great person. Hope he recovers well, but at 71 y.o. that's sometimes easier said than done.

OMG who is hollywood going to get to play the concerned, wise, mentor, cool, wisecracking black guy?

I'm thinking Chris Tucker.

He was talking and coherent after the accident which leads me to believe his injuries are internal. I wish him a speedy and full recovery.

Shitty. Best of luck to him. He's one of my all-time favorites.

Batman curse?

Hope he will be okay. He's a terrific actor.
Really enjoyed him and Tom Hanks in "Shawshank Redemption."

I think you meant Tim Robbins, CC.

Batman curse?

FF. Maybe Maggie Gyllenhaal will catch an icepick through the forehead.

"Batman curse?"

Posted by Rob_The_A_Hole

Don't say that; wait 'till after the Terminator movie comes out.

I sure hope he doesn't die.
I cannot stand the idea of Danny Glover in all of those rolls.

SanAntonioRose

You're right. I should have said Tim Robbins. I was getting my prison pics mixed. Was confusing the lead with Hanks (in "The Green Mile") I really liked "Shawshank Redemption" a lot. Must have seen it at least five times and I'm not one for watching the same movie over and over unless I really enjoy it.

Say, are you getting any rain yet from Tropical Storm Eduoardo (which they feel may be hurricane strenght by evening on Tuesday)? Houston may get clobbered but I guess Texas is in real need of rain with the drought and all.

Morgan Freeman is one of my favorite actors. When he teamed up with Clint Eastwood in The Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby they created two all time classics.

"Say, are you getting any rain yet from Tropical Storm Eduoardo"

I don't live in Texas anymore CC. But I know its freakin' hot in Dallas. My brother said it was 106 yesterday and supposed to be 107 today.

I don't miss that at all!

SanAntonioRose

You all seem like nice enough folks in Texas so what did you all do to deserve this:

"Texas hit with heat wave, water parasites, drought and wildfires"

The "other" Drudge had it up in headlines the day before.

opps, only meant to bold the link

God in a car accident?

Was Ms. Daisy ok?

Sorry, had just put up my previous link before I saw your post.

I can't believe Dallas and parts of Texas have had 30 days of triple digit heat -- and still no end in sight! We had a similar heat wave in SoCal last year but it only lasted for a little over one week and it sucks the life out of everyone -- even those used to that kind of heat. Plus, we don't have the 50% humidity Texas gets along with it.

Afraid the Texas climate would not bring out the friendlier side of my personality. :) I love the sun and don't mind it getting hot in the summertime but when triple digit heat stretches out for over a month -- it's too much. Think I'll stick to someplace with milder temperatures. I can take a lot of humidity IF I'm living near the beach. Otherwise, no thanks. Your brother must be melting. Wait until he gets his electric bill!

Who fucking cares?

Ah, input from the other person 'round these parts as cranky as I am.

Isn't that the dude who played some kind of vampire on the Electric Company?

I hope the GOATMAN has evacuated his rig. Still no rain here in Sugar Land from Edwaurd.

FWTHOM - 77479? Seems to be a lot of us texans here!

I hope the GOATMAN has evacuated his rig. Still no rain here in Sugar Land from Edwaurd.

I think Goatman is probably back home in Texas now. In one of his posts on Friday he said he was heading home for his usual two weeks off. Still, there's a lot of other guys on those offshore rigs who haven't been evacuated yet. This storm is suppose to hit land later tomorrow and might be at least a Cat 1 hurricane. The oil companies better not wait too long to get some of those guys off their rigs. But I guess they've been through this stuff so many times before the oil companies know what they're doing.

She is horrendous...

ELCID,

I am a retired transplant from the Rust Belt following my three grandsons here to Texas four years ago. This is the best move I ever made. There is no prouder Texan than me. I am ready to leave the Union and start our own country so we can have the seventh flag over Texas and we can all be Texacans again.

i've seen a couple of interviews with morgan and he appears to be a thoughtful and gentle man.
forgetting his films, tis nice to see there are the likes of him around... and he is a fine actor in his own right.
i just saw 'lucky number slevin' last week for the first time. what fun.
best to him.

i believe it's the superman curse, not batman,
steve reeves - murdered or suicide, take your pick.
chris reeves - horse fall leading to his demise.

all the best.

Did you mean "retarded" transplant? You sure sound like it......

From another news source:

"Freeman, 71, and a passenger, Demaris Meyer, were traveling eastbound on Mississippi Highway 32 around 11:30pm in Tallahatchie County when his vehicle went off the edge of the road.

Freeman overcorrected, flipping the 1997 Nissan Maxima he was driving several times before coming to a rest."

Most interesting that one of the true talents in acting today and who is probably pulling in more in royalties each day than I make in a year was driving a 1997 Missan Maxima. Not the kind of car one would expect a superstar to be driving.

I don't believe he was driving a Nissan.
Black people only drive Pontiacs, Toyotas, or whatever the easiest car to steal in any given year is.

Fact!

fwthom, Pittsburgh native here. Like you a transplant. Should have seen the lines at Kroger at BW8 and Westheimer - not even a cat 1 yet and people rush to buy water and toilet paper. Waiting to see if I have to go to Surfside and board up the house.

101,
You forgot Coupe D'Ville, Buick Riviera and Chrysler Imperial.

Lipzoidial = refugee from alabama who now lives in Houston. fwthom, sugarland huh? I live in cypress fairbanks.

I am proof that not everybody in texas is an ignorant gun-toting, jew-hating racist. I don't even own a gun.

You indicated that you didn't care?

And why the racist bullshit?

You're not even funny, though perhaps tragically comical.

Go "not care" on another thread, y'a buck and a penny chair whore.

Fathom and ElCid

Check out this article w/the 3 short videos of a Louisiana off-shore oil rig rocking back and forth from the storm Edouward. Would not want to be on one of those.

I said "Who fucking cares" in regards to Morgan Freeman.
I didn't say "Who fucking cares" in regards to the patently false information you're trying to peddle.
Everyone knows black people don't drive Nissan's.

Check the fucking contract.

Maybe he didn't want to be noticed as a superstar.

His greatest role ever?

EASY READER! From the 'Electric Company'.....oh and that part he played as a Pimp....Good stuff.

He even had is own theme music complete with lyrics: "Easy Reader, that's my name"

Could be. Or maybe he is just a down-to-earth kinda guy who doesn't need ornamentation to feel alive or prove himself to others with bloated displays of useless wealth. I'd be interested to see where he lives and how he lives.

About the cars black people do and don't drive.
Fact!

How many movies has he played God in???
He's probably hoping that God didn't think he was being disrespectful.

"He's probably hoping that God didn't think he was being disrespectful."

If God is real, he's a way bigger asshole than Morgan Freeman has ever portrayed him to be.

Not the kind of car one would expect a superstar to be driving.

----

It wasn't his. He's a cool guy though...

Bystanders converged on the accident scene trying to get a glimpse of the actor, McFerrin said.

When one person tried to snap a photo with a cell phone camera, Freeman joked, no freebies, no freebies,-- McFerrin said.

Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ben Williams said Freeman was driving a 1997 Nissan Maxima that belonged to Demaris Meyer of Memphis when the car ran off the road and overturned several times.

Nissan's what?

By the way everyone knows that flamings cunt named "Chairborne" never served a day.

Who fucking cares?

Posted by 101Chairborne

When you're dying we'll ask the same thing.

I hope he fully recovers. He is also one of my favorite actors, and he truly is an actor's actor. I would be quite content to sit and watch him read the phone book. I think Shawshank is also one of my favorites right up there with Se7en, as well as "Kiss the Girls" oh hell, like I said I like anything he is in.

Fucking around on his wife. I LOVE IT

Moron, there's a Murder She Wrote marathon on TV Land tonight. If you hurry you can catch a full episode before you pass out in the La-z-boy.

Mississippi has notoriously bad roads.

The highway he was on possibly had a washed out gravel shoulder. There's just road, then there's not-road, sometimes several inches lower.

It's really easy to catch a wheel and then overcorrect if you aren't experienced in driving those roads.

RASTACYBORG,

Are you still watching TV on that 12 in. black and white with the broken rabbit ears?

I just bought a 50 in. HD plasma with my Bush rebate check.

FW

When you try to impress folks on the internet, it's hard to believe you're a grandfather.

24 tops.

50", wow. almost makes up for your micro dick and brain. i'm sure the koreans and chinese appreciate bush's stimulus

Yikes! A 50" hi-def plasma for $600? If I might inquire, what world-renowned manufacturer's logo adorns this somewhat suspect example of modern technology? And why don't you throw in a model number while you're at it?

I'll save the hamster wheel joke for another day.

I just bought a 50 in. HD plasma with my Bush rebate check.

Did it "fall off the back of a truck"?

All the really great actors these days are pushing their 60's and 70's. Freeman, Nicholson, Hopkins.

There's no one to fill the vacuum.

I remember a line from some mob movie where the mobster is telling the perspective big screen TV buyer who's inquiring why it's so cheap, "Hey, it only has one scratch - over the serial number"

Not that I ever expected to have my query answered, but I'm still waiting for the make and model number of Mr. Thom's uber-frugal electronic purchase.

FWPinocchio.
