We must try to look at this positively.

Two species that I know of may benefit from large numbers of jelly fish.

The Mola-Mola and the Blue fin tuna both eat the slimy, stinging suckers. The Mola-Mola (also known as the Ocean Sunfish) can grow to nearly two tons on a preferred diet of jelly fish. The Blue fin eats them just because it is edible and the need to eat something.

When I lived on my sailboat in the Keys and worked at Bahia Honda on the beach it was only the 'blue bottles' (Portuguese Man O' War) we worried about. A paste of water and "Accent" [MSG] neutralized the sting/pain.

Gonna get me some o' that Jellyfish Stew

A little story that happened to my brother.

We were surfing at Bolsa Chica and my brother was about 100 feet further out than I was and he was trying to beat a large set wave. He met the wave just as it broke and one of the huge purple jelly fish came over with the cresting wave. It hit him just below his neck and a goodly portion of this slimer went down his wet suit. he set a new world record for getting out of a full coverage wet suit and got down to skin. He had an almost artistic display an angry red welts down his entire body. LMAO
