Those in the lead typically don't like to risk a debate. So while Obama enjoys a lead I'm not surprised.

That said, one of Obama's strengths is his ability to communicate. Granted, there won't be teleprompters, but we'd heard from the DR left how he'd mop the floor with McCain if those two ultimately were the nominees. Wouldn't a debate offer Obama the chance to demonstrate his superior communications skills, his energy, etc? Would make a nice contrast vs McCain.

NO, the WH never explained that box. Curiously, however, Bush once informed a morning-time talking head that's what it was, in a strangely jocular way.

It almost assuredly was a transmitter, given on other occasions the voice Bush hears has been picked up by other electronic devices.

The only other theory I've seen is that it was a medical device designed to help Bush mitigate the effects of a mild stroke.

Obama is afraid to debate. A debate would mean that someone will ask him difficult questions and someone will actually rebute his BS.

Example 1. We are going to have windfall tax paid for by big oil companies. Basically big oil is making too much $$$ so Obama will tax them. Then from the $$$ generated by the tax, he will give every AMERICAN household a $1000.00 rebate check. Sounds great doesn't it??? Except to pay for the windfall tax, the big oil companies will just raise their prices to recoup their loss. We will all get $1000.00 in which we will spend on higher gas prices. It really sounds great until you think about it.

Why debate when the media and his blind supporters fail to ask any questions pertaining to his statements and his stances? These statements would be challenged in a debate. It will have a negative impact on his candidacy.

On top of that, the playing field is a little more level when Obama doesn't have a teleprompter in front of him.

Please be aware that I am not a McCain supporter either. I do not like the fact that McCain supports global warming BS and amnesty for illegals. I am definately not a fan of McCain's, however this Obama campaign really sickens me.
