Violent peaked in 1988 thru 1993 and has gone down every year since then.

Murder: The numbers ranged from a nearly 10 percent drop in cities with a million people or more (the largest decline in any violent crime category)to a 3.7 percent rise in cities with 50,000 to 99,999 residents.

There's always been senseless violent crime. The best approach might be to fund more mental health research and services - 'cause the guns are always going to be there, and even a good kitchen knife can get you on the evening news.

No, but sensible violent crime is down...

If these swimmers were only carrying M-16s or RPgs they could have defended themselves. Okay, maybe they would have drowned carrying them, but at least they wouldn't have been shot.

No one thought anything was out of line when the Wisconsin teens were exhuming and sexing up a corpse, but when some of them get killed by a nutjob gunman while swimming, now THAT'S news.

My records only fo back to 1975 but; Last year there were less total murders than any yeat going back to 1975. That is for the entire US.

Don't ever say things are getting worse because they arn't. The total population is going up and the total number of murders is going down.
