An Army sergeant complained about faulty wiring in Iraq months before another soldier was fatally electrocuted in a shower in the same quarters, according to documents released Wednesday by a congressional committee. The showers were installed and inspected by the contractor Kellogg, Brown and Root.

Criminal charges need to be filed against whoever did the work.

This kind of thing just pisses me off. This is nothing new, I've read about 11 other Soldier's being electrocuted. I don't know how many more have been.

Reading this after listening to an interview with an electrical contractor that worked in Iraq, the way they wired one of Saddam's palaces for our use, it just struck a nerve.

In Saddam's palace, they wouldn't replace the contacts that turned on the lights, so for YEARS they electricians have had to stuff sticks of wood in to hold the contacts closed so the lights will stay on.

The Story (NPR):

Debbie Crawford recently saw a television report about soldiers in Iraq being electrocuted in the shower. So far, 16 American troops have died in accidental electrocutions there. Debbie worked as an electrician for a contractor in Baghdad from 2004 to 2006. She recently testified before Congress, stating that the company for which she worked was reckless in its disregard of safety standards - and that when she tried to point out electrical hazards, she was shut down.

How will this affect their stock price? That is the only issue of significance here.

A Rolling Stone article "The Great Iraq Swindle" is rife with stuff like this.

As an ET/electrician, I can say there is absolutely no excuse for poor grounding. What's worse is that it was ignored. If we ever get a report like that here, literally everything comes to a stop and the problem is analyzed, repaired, and tested before we resume normal operations. Someone needs to be held accountable.

Criminal negligence.

see you in Dubai! cheers (crystal champagne glasses clink together in background)

"The reality is that KBR's actions were not the cause of any of these terrible accidents," Tom Bruni said.

These are not the Droids you are looking for...

move along...

FF and Nostalgia Flag and Irony Flag for Donnerboy.

the employees of KBR are patriotic americans and will do their best to protect the men & women serving in iraq.. but mistakes happen. And when those mistakes happen the employees of KBR patriotically salute the flag in a patriotic gesture that absolves them of any legal wrongdoing... accidents happen.

The naysayers are probably lawyers and canada-sympathizing outcasts.. so, don't put much stock in their outspoken opinions.

Another point for Big Brother.

How can anyone possibly justify this? I find it funny that this is being implemented by people who call themselves "conservatives" considering that this goes against everything that true conservatism stands for.

Thank you Ali-Burton!

Your greed for a few more dollars cost a highly trained, very valuable soldier his life while simply trying to take a shower.

Keep the change.

shut the fuck up liberal traitors. this country has had enough of you.

Friend, you need to look up the definition of the word TRAITOR.

I would say that one who kills American soldiers in the name of profits would fall under that category of traitor. And those that turn a blind eye to those crimes are traitors too.

I think Audrey was kidding. At least I HOPE Audrey was kidding. herm

762,

why criminal charges? for a mistake?

"...why criminal charges? for a mistake?" I infer Ret has never heard the phrase "criminal negligence." This one is prima facie (another new phrase for Ret) actionable. herm

"why criminal charges? for a mistake?"

Charges are filed for negligent deaths all the time.

The Bushies give these fuckers blank checks so they can deliver sub-standard services that at times kill our soldiers.

If the next administration doesn't investigate, prosecute and the string up these cocksuckers, they are just as complicite.

A pattern of negligence over years.

A pattern of active threats against those that spoke up and wanted to do their job.

A pattern that has killed at least 16 Soldiers.

This soldier was obviously a liberal, maybe even a socialist, who carelessly electrocuted himself by not taking enough personal responsibility before using that shower in Iraq built by our brave no-bid contractors who we thank for their service to our country. Why was he taking a shower anyway? Was he gay?

Stop twisting the truth just to attack our President and concentrate on what really matters. Is Obama like Paris Hilton or does he remind you more of Britney? Is he too thin to be Commander-In-Chief?

The Right.

Awesome, BlueinBush. Apparently the Rigid Right is too paralyzed to reply. herm

I posted a link earlier. Read it. Shocking.

This is how the 'no bid' contractors think about our troops and the U.S. taxpayer.
