From the aricle:

Obama's lead over McCain expands to 13 points when third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr are included, with Obama at 48 percent, McCain at 35 percent, Nader at 5 percent and Barr at 2 percent, the poll said.

You Libs need to send some bucks to Nader and Barr.

I Have decided that even though I don't like Barr, even though I won't blog for him and send him money, even so, I will still vote straight Libertarian this election. I can't stand how the GOP is turning so socialist. This housing bill they are about to pass sucks.

In some issues the polls don't matter. The polls don't matter when for example our rights are in question. That 99.99% support something is irrelevant it it is unconstitutional or violates rights. These polls matter to the extend they may or may not show trends when takent into context with previous and future polls. The fact that they may show momemtum, or lack of it, does matter.

Beware of over confidence Mr. Obama. You could still blow this.

Only six points ...somehow with all the msm cheer leading I thought it was closer to a smack down on old MAC.
Actually I think the media circus is going to hurt BHO...the empty suit.

watching the obama speach on cnn...

why do i keep on thinking of Obama as Feyd Rautha being hailed as the savior following Bush's "the beast" rabban?

Look at all those Germans with the US flag in their hands! And what a huge crowd.

It's 6 and the righties say "Is that all?"

SPIN, SPIN, SPIN...WEEEEE!

Bradley effect

It's 13%, not 6%.

There are 4 people in this contest and one, Obama, leads all others by at least 13 points.

That is considered a LandSlide.

I believe the 2 man race numbers but not the 4 man.

McCain drops from 41 to 35% with Nader and Barr in the race and OBama goes up by one. THis suggests that Nader will take most of his votes from the Republican which history has shown to be incorrect.

A more like case is Obama leads by 6 pts in a 2 man race but with the others in the race the margin is about 3 pts.

Pretty close.

FREDDYK you seem to be assuming that Nader and Barr will each pull the same number of votes. I don't think Nader will pull very many votes at all but many unhappy Republicans will be voting for Barr. So I think the original estimates are probably right.

the righties say "Is that all?"

Nah EP...just me sweetie.
I said ...just six...I just thought it was more like two thirds of voters were worshipping at the alter .

Nader's doing better than Barr.

"Obama's lead over McCain expands to 13 points when third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr are included, with Obama at 48 percent, McCain at 35 percent, Nader at 5 percent and Barr at 2 percent, the poll said."
So either Nader is pulling from McCain or something's off.

"There are 4 people in this contest and one, Obama, leads all others by at least 13 points."

There are probably five or six, maybe more candidates running. While I applaud the pollsters for including Barr and Nader, they did not include Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party or Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party. The Socialist Party might actually also be running a candidate. I know they did in 2004.

And what a huge crowd.

By Noel Sheppard | July 24, 2008 - 13:38 Remember back in May when media gushed and fawned over a huge crowd in Portland, Oregon -- supposedly gathered to hear the words of Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama -- but chose not to report the free concert given before his speech? Well, it has been learned that before the presumptive Democrat nominee spoke to a crowd in Berlin Thursday, two popular German acts -- reggae artist Patrice and rock band Reamonn -- entertained the gathering audience.

McSame and the RNCC is spending like crazy around here. Every other commercial is he's the bravest war hero that ever was or free gas from offshore oil rigs.

Truly one of the best self-retorting retorts in recent memory.

That being said, McCain's toast unless Barry messes up massively.

"Look at all those Germans with the US flag in their hands! And what a huge crowd."

Yes Mr Barak 'no flag pin' Obama made a huge purchase of US flags and had them shipped over. Hey, did you see the big rock festival right before Obama took stage. It was a really great concert.

"It's 6 and the righties say "Is that all?""

Of course, i mean obama has more than doubled the spending of mccain and that is what he has to show for it? While six points is nothing to be sneezed at in this context it is truly pathetic.

Obama Faking It

Obama has a problem: What do you do when you're a lightly accomplished one-term senator, a former state legislator from Illinois, a Harvard law graduate who has no substantive record of accomplishments, and you are running against a war hero whom polls show that Americans overwhelmingly view as far more fit to be commander in chief?

Pose, of course.

Obama wants to extend his trip in Germany. I guess he has some time to fill after being boo'd out of Israel.

At this point polls truly mean nothing. Most voters don't pay any attention until at least Labor Day.

The modest lead by the Magic Negro is likely a reflection of his aggressive spending and all his cheerleading by the MSM

...What do you do when you're a lightly accomplished one-term senator, a former state legislator from Illinois, a Harvard law graduate who has no substantive record of accomplishments, and you are running against a war hero whom polls show that Americans overwhelmingly view as far more fit to be commander in chief?...Pose, of course.

Yes Obama, who has better credentials that GW BUSH, is a poser.

Spin, Spin, Spin...

Got to love the schizophrenic GOP meltdown going on around here. Next thing you know, they'll all be telling us the Bush Presidency is over, so stop blaming everything on Bush.

McCain is No Hero But you can keep pretending if it maintains your cognitive dissonance.

You, sir, are a Moron and a despicable feces-eating pig. We never heard you use 'Magic Negro' when Obama was just a senator. But now...?

Go figure!

Time will tell. But if we have a Dem President and Dem Congress, there will be no question as to who to blame or praise. Just as with Bush and the Repubs, this has to fall at their feet.

"Yes Obama, who has better credentials that GW BUSH, is a poser"

Was that intended to be a joke?
Or are you that daft?

Fat Ugly Chick,

McCain is a lousy candidate but your cheering for the Magic Negro is pathetic. The guy has accomplished nothing, he's a novice in everything and he has no foreign experience.

All you got is "McCain is old and he agrees with Bush on some things"

That's a hell of a campaign

All you got is Bush was a Govenor...

But that doesn't stop you from beating your drum over Bush while Jeff Gannon beats Bush's meat.

Bald impotent cluster-fucker.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I would add a few points:
1.) if the reps have a Michelle Obama 'whitey' tape, this is meaningless as Obama loses in a landslide
2.) this is prior to the reps 527 smears and legitimate attacks - this will swing the polls by 5% if all they do it lie, many many more if they have true damaging items
3.) Rev. Dobson, etc will rally to Johnnie Mac as this 'is too important of an election' for them to stay out of it
4.) The Dem convention will not likely give Obama a bump which is traditionally the case as they will have protesters, etc that will remind people of the split in the party
5.) Johnnie Mac can pick up a lot of votes depending on his VP choice, Obama is more or less topped out with increasing negatives at this point.

All in all, I still see Obama losing in a landslide as I do believe that the rep 527's will be very effective, to doubt them is to discount the last 2 pres elections.

"...I use 'Magic Negro' only because it irritates racists like you...

Typical republican Thinking. I'm the Racist because YOU use the term Magic Negro.

Jacque_Strap

All of your P.O.V.'s are completely backwards, showing once again another Right-Wing doughnut trying to prove he's as astute a political thinker as his president.

But you just keep go-ifying with that...

"Johnny Mac" chooses Romney, looses Evangelics Money.

"Johnny Mac" chooses Mike Huckabee, looses Conservative Centrists who don't Want-Him-to-be.

"Johnny Mac" chooses Ron Paul, looses all in all.

Yeah, you got that one Confirgurizated, JacQue_Strap!

Dump - calling me a Right-Wing doughnut is pretty funny, I am a true progressive which is why I want the destruction of the Dem party. We need to get rid of Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy etc so that we can get true leaders that can be trusted and actually follow progressive ideals.

Now, if you believe that Dobson will not support McCain, that is your right - stupid - but your right.

If you believe that 527's don't work - once again, your right - stupid - but your right....

Then again, maybe you are just repeating the Messiah's line of 'keep hope alive'....

" I am a true progressive which is why I want the destruction of the Dem party"

uhmm my friend

a true progressive knows the importance of having both the extreme left and the extreme right

balance is the key to progressive.

mccain is not balance

Dump - you assume that McCain only has 3 choices. What about Crist? Oh, you forgot that one...

What about Tim Pawlenty or Tom Ridge? - probably help Mac win a swing state either way. I think Mac will win FL in a landslide already, so Crist would not be a huge benefit there - but I think he will help a lot of the swing states - OH, Penn, MI, etc....

balance is the key to progressive.

mccain is not balance

Um, I do not want McCain to win, but that does not change the fact that he will. The Dems put forward an unelectable candidate - no one to blame but themselves.

"but that does not change the fact that he will"

its not a fact
jacque

you can be against obama or against mccain
but as of now nobody winning is a fact

by calling it a fact you downplay your own talking points

"Nah EP...just me sweetie.
I said ...just six...I just thought it was more like two thirds of voters were worshipping at the alter .

6 is a horse race...especially with MSM in the tank for BHO!"

SHE CALLED ME SWEETIE!!!! I'M GETTING THAT TINGLY FEELING ALL UP AND DOWN MY LEGS JUST LIKE CHRIS MATTHEWS!

MSM in the tank for BHO, huh? You honestly think any segment of the media has been tough on McCain? If so, show me where...

Good Commander-In-Chief
Mccain leads by 28 points

Knowledge and experience to handle the job
McCain leads by 34 points

Leadership qualities to needed to be President
McCain leads by 11 points

Consistent in their beliefs and will stand up for
Mccain leads by 8 points

Honest and straightforward
Mccain leads by 4 points

Riskier choice
McCain leads by 20 points

Safer choice
McCain leads by 5 points

I can see why Obama leads by 6 points in the overall poll. What used to be the most important factor in electing a President has gone. Now it is about compassion, standing in the world, help on gas, help on health care... If 53% say Obama is too inexperienced and not strong enough. Or not ready to handle our enemies, how is he leading? White guilt? Spain 2004?

All in all, I still see Obama losing in a landslide as I do believe that the rep 527's will be very effective, to doubt them is to discount the last 2 pres elections.

See you in November!!!

McCain was what, 894 out of 899 in his graduating class when he was at his peak, intelligence wise? Imagine how much slower he has gotten in the past 50+ years...

This poll would mean something if our elections were decided by national popular vote (which they should be).

LOL...ya caught me...ya caught the tater.

"if our elections were decided by national popular vote (which they should be)"

You're joking, right? If the vote were ever close, we'd immediately see lawsuits in nearly every precinct. If ten votes in SD or AZ or anywhere else could sway that much power, we'd have a Florida everywhere anyone pulled a lever or punched a chad.

if our elections were decided by national popular vote (which they should be)"

Why not simply break down the electoral numbers based on Congressional districts? That way someone like me who lives in the County with the highest percentage of repubs have our votes count. Do away with the winner take all and see how many more voters register. Hell we only get about half anyway.

"""...I use 'Magic Negro' only because it irritates racists like you...""

If that is the case, I challenge you to walk up to a bunch of black kids and spout: heeeeyyy ya bunch of magic negroes!!!

Tell us how that goes or shut the fuck up.

"If the vote were ever close, we'd immediately see lawsuits in nearly every precinct."

How does the current system avoid that problem? The potential for lawsuits in a close county is always there.

While I don't fully agree with the above, I felt it was worth reposting as well as a funny flag. It gave me a chuckle.

They said the same things about Reagan when he was running:

He has no experience
He's not fit to be CiC
He's an actor with no foreign policy experience

What? He won! America's malaise in 1980 was no where near the overall level it is now. 13% think we're going the 'right direction'. Lowest ever recorded. And Carter didn't create a mess from a budget surplus or piss off the world or start unnecessary wars.

Now the same people who deride Obama supporters (who hasn't been behind in a single national poll yet) as "Kool aid drinkers", "Messiah worshipers" - yet who has more experience on the national level and governance in general than Reagan did - want to put Reagan on money and carve his face on Mount Rushmore. They weep at the mention of his name and get all hushy-hushy reverent 20 years after he left office with the country heavily in debt and the middle class weakened.

yet who has more experience on the national level and governance in general than Reagan did

Unity, I hate when we fight, but you are wrong on this one. Reagan was a governor (responsible for much more than a senator). It's not just opinion, but fact.

Why don't you look at the poll numbers instead of crying about Reagan? Are you that afraid the Boy Wonder doesn't stack up to some of the important factors? Why do you even compare Obama to anyone? There is nobody elected in the last 100 years Obama could hold a candle to in military, foreign policy, State Government experience. He is running on a wish and a prayer. He is fortunate it is McCain. Someone who has more ammo for the dems than any major candidate other than Bush or Cheney.

Only 6 pt lead with all this insane coverage of Obama? How sad. The truth that always haunts Dems is that the survey polls don't always matter but voting polls do. Dems lead in the polls in the last two Presidential elections and we all know what happened then.

When the debates start, Obama will get creamed. Off the prepared speech, Obama is very unpolished and tends to stammer a lot.

LMAO!!!! KY or Astroglide fruity?

I just listened to the most recent report and Obama is no longer leading in a couple of states and now has moved within the margin of error. As horrible as Bush has been and with McCain bragging how he will follow all the Bush policies, can anyone tell me WHY Obama does not have at least a 10 point lead in almost every state?

Obama needs to come to the center more. He's been too liberal -- like today saying he's he loves America (that's good) and also bragged he is a "citizen of the world" (that's bad) which doesn't play well in Iowa.

Also, the report said it is the "registered independents" (cough, ahem, like myself) who will be THE ones to decide this election.

More than 1/3 of the voters are now registered as independents. Why don't you guys dump these two pathetic political parties (Republicans and Democrats) which are one snake with two heads, and come on over and register as an "independent" with your voter registrar's office? fwi -- that is NOT the "Independent Party" and is something entirely different than being a "registered independent."

Let's start making these politicians responsible for their actions and hold their feet to the fire instead of letting them take us for granted.

CC-
re: "He's been too liberal -- like today saying he's he loves America (that's good) and also bragged he is a "citizen of the world" (that's bad) which doesn't play well in Iowa."

At least he didn't say something really crazy, such as this:

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth.....

...cause that be VERY unamerican...

BTW, has anyone been to Iowa lately to see the facts on the ground and talk to the generals?....

(Yes, the words in bold @ 8:54 pm are from JFK's Inaugural Address.)

BetelG and Nullifidian --

Okkaaaaaaaay, you won, I guess I have to eat my "citizen of the world" words.

BUT -- when Reagan and JFK said those words our country was not being destroyed by globalists as it is today. "Citizen of the world" is now code speak for "I'm a globalist." No one would have thought that back in the days of Reagan and JFK. Today those same words have a much more sinister meaning.

McCain and Obama are both globalists, so we just have to decide which one of the two will do the least damage.

Its simple.

The last 7 years.

Democrats could run "Jimmy Whatsisface" and be leading in the polls.

Republicans had 6 years of total control, and look where it got us. It's the Republicans year to take it on the chin. And they deserve it.

It's too early, things are still quite volatile. However, there is some interesting things going on in a few other states not listed above:

State Obama McCain Start End Pollster
Florida 46% 45% Jul 22 Jul 22 Rasmussen
Minnesota 49% 37% Jul 22 Jul 22 Rasmussen

Meh, we're hosed regardless. I do not see either of these clowns assisting even remotely in the restoration of the dollar or working towards bringing business back into this nation.

You can look it up on the web. The scanned copy provided by the Obama Campaign lacks the official state seal and has not been folded. Official documents are not sent electronically. They are mailed so they are folded.

Do any od you have a birth certificate that has not been folded? I doubt it.

Look here for a comparison of Obama's birth certificate that his own campaign provided compared with an official one from Hawaii.

This story is inside the beltway/inside baseball drivel. Concentric narcissism that only the press would find interesting. Yet, you still exhibit the cluelessness of the media when you say "This romance has been a prominent story line of Obama's entire campaign, and clearly elements of it are true." What "elements" of the media love affair aren't true!? The media's disgraceful behavior has tarnished the entire journalistic enterprise. You all look like fools. The gleeful favoritism of the MSM is repulsive. It makes us all long for the days of covert favoritism of the Rather and Mapes variety. Journalists, heal thyselves!

......the one with the real constitutional problem may be........

The question has nagged at the parents of Americans born outside the continental United States for generations: Dare their children aspire to grow up and become president? In the case of Senator John McCain of Arizona, the issue is becoming more than a matter of parental daydreaming.

McCain's likely nomination as the Republican candidate for president and the happenstance of his birth in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 are reviving a musty debate that has surfaced periodically since the founders first set quill to parchment and declared that only a "natural-born citizen" can hold the nation's highest office.

Almost since those words were written in 1787 with scant explanation, their precise meaning has been the stuff of confusion, law school review articles, whisper campaigns and civics class debates over whether only those delivered on American soil can be truly natural born. To date, no American to take the presidential oath has had an official birthplace outside the 50 states.

"There are powerful arguments that Senator McCain or anyone else in this position is constitutionally qualified, but there is certainly no precedent," said Sarah Duggin, an associate professor of law at Catholic University who has studied the issue extensively. "It is not a slam-dunk situation."

Let us compare:

McCain: both parents natural born citizens, married to each other and both of age. McCain born on US base while father serving. Many witnesses.

Omama: Mother natural born but too far under age to grant status. Father citizen of Kenya. No proof of parents marriage. Father still married at time to woman in Kenya. Obama has no proof of where he was born and no witnesses.

Hmmmmmmmm........

Nice deflection but the point is if Obama can't prove he is a citizen then he can't run.

He already did that to get his passport.

Prove you exist.
If you can't, then, obviously, you don't.
Thanks.

I don't mention this nearly enough: Fuck you YAV and your stupid fucking facts. There's no place around here for somebody of your character. Kindly fuck off!

101,

You have no idea how perfect that response was wrt the way work is going today.

Glad you're here.

Good article, Alex. Though I think it would be more appropriate on this thread.

Then why did his website provide a fake one?

You bring up an important point though, if he used the BC shown online as the one to get a passport then he has committed a felony.

I think, therefore I am.

You don't, therefore you are a lib!

Most recent Gallop poll is just out and has it 45 to 43 for Obama. With Nadir thrown in this a a tie.

That's even with the press 10 to 1 for Obama.

Certainly not a blow out for Obama.

"How does the current system avoid that problem? The potential for lawsuits in a close county is always there."

But if one state is close, it's that state only. If the countrywide election is close, every vote in every precinct is in play.

The Gallup Poll only has Messiah Obama ahead 45% to 43% and with a statistical error percentage of + or - 2% we are talking about a statistical tie (maybe even McCain ahead) and that is with the media completely in the tank for Obama.

There is a HUGE backlash building against Obama. He is running around the world like he is already the President of the United States and bad mouthing the U.S. while at it. He is out of touch with America on offshore drilling with gas being the #1 issue out there. The Obamacons are heading for a big disappointment in November. McCain is gaining votes!

I'm still waiting for the MSM to ask Obama a tought question or give him a tough time for his dual positions on everything. Oh yeah. I forgot they are in the tank for him because like typical liberals, they cna't think for themselves and only know how to tell lie after lie.

Obama is only at this point in the campaign because of the media's love for him. The media pushed him past Hillary but now the tide is turning as Obama's arrogance is starting to irk the media (see this new article: www.tnr.com ) McCain's assention in the polls illustrates this.

I was thinking that Obama will win the election but now I am faily sure that McCain will take the general election. Obama has alienated the American people with his trip to Europe and the Middle East acting as if he is already the President and his out of touch stance on off-shore drilling and now is ticking off the press.

" now I am faily sure that McCain will take the general election"

Care to make it interesting?

Danforth,

I definitely care to make it interesting. Any suggestions?

A little charitable wager?

Just ask Hillary, that right winged cunt

There.

Emboldened that fer yas.

And yes, yes you do.

That will be McCain's song to sing come November, btw.

Maybe he can throw a rap remix of "Bomb Iran"

Face it. He's the singularily most uninteresting candidate you guys have ever fielded. It's absolutely hilarious the way he goes around the country stirring up clouds of disinterest with laughably pathetic crowds and then the right shows up in blogworld to complains bitterly about the lack of McCoot coverage.

If you assholes won't even show up fer the yawn-inducing, old fuddy-duddy, why the fuck should the media?

Be Well.

Did anyone catch Keith Oberman's piece on MSNBC where they exposed "FOX NEWS'" recent airing of campaign news clips from McCains 2000 Presidential Run against Bush like they were current clips against Obama because McCain appeared younger in these clips from 8 Years ago?

Fucking comical !! What a bunch of sleezy right-wing
Dogmatic Republican Assholes FOX News is.

Well, at least FOX doesn't even pretend not to be sleazy and biased. Roger Ailes is the biggest piece of shit in American news broadcasting over the last ten years.

Hagbard- I never said the reporters weren't dems. But their bosses are repubs.
And the MSM is so afraid of being labeled "librul" that they bend over backwards.

And they like to make two opposing viewpoints seem equal, even when they're clearly not. More of the "horserace" shit.

All the media are vultures, perpetual breeders of doom and gloom. Anyone who goes into tht business has lost thier compass in the woods. And to say its one party or the other(they are both the same corporate prostitutes) is to be so delusional that inpatient therapy is required.

wrong...because there are some polls out that have mccain making some definite moves against barrywayne..........in colorado, michigan, and other important states...........now THATS the thing that will get leftys out and talking shit about polls.

I'm reminded someone yesterday took issue with my contention that journalists are "librul" cuz they know more than normal people. A wise ass rightie retorted that journalists don't know Jack Schitt. That's tantamount to suggesting doctors don't know medicine, attorneys don't know the law. herm

I dont think many of the journalists know shit about anything normal.
maybe once upon a time.....but dont you think they are like politicians who get to ny or dc and sort of get caught up in the little world around them there???????????//

I'm honestly trying to make sense of the last BLT post. I think he wants to be part of the cabal that attacks journalists --- something like shooting messengers. If they have a "bias" that sometimes shines through, it's because they have seen what works best for the most people. herm

Gallup Daily: Obama Retains Lead, 48% to 41%

"Notably, Obama's current seven-point lead over McCain ties his widest since the start of Gallup Poll Daily tracking of the general election in early March, and was achieved only once previously. He led McCain by seven points immediately after Hillary Clinton suspended her campaign for the Democratic nomination in early June. However, that proved to be a short-lived bounce, with Obama holding a six- to seven-point lead for only three days before it dropped back to two to three points."

www.gallup.com

Not only has McCain changed his stances on every single long held position, but he also sucks up to Bush now - who's team said and did unthinkable things to one of their own in SC in 2000.

A picture says a thousand words:

McCain's Bush love

Fact it. He now represents 4 more years of the same course and policies only 13% of Americans are the 'right direction'.
