At this point apparently the guy's SOL, but another customer was recently reimbursed for $40 by the same bank, per the article.

Actually it was interesting idea that someone inside the bank could be counterfeiting the money and passing it to consumers.
Most banks usually have a lot of surveillance on the tellers so a person doing this would have to be quite smooth.

what difference does it make? is our real money worth any more than the counterfeit? runnin' out - print some more!

Nanc,
Only to the Fed. If they can't make money off of it, they don't want anyone else to either.
I just love it when the Treasury comes down on a barter group that uses their own coins to facilitate the bartering.

I'd like to get one of those pens that they use at the store to check my bills out with. When they give me my change I can give them a swipe to give them that I think you are a criminal feeling that they like to give to everyone who walks through their doors.

The federal reserve gives us phony balony money everyday? Not backed with Gold anymore it is only backed by good faith.. ....meanwhile are mortgage lenders and banks are going under.
I would rather be paid in silver and gold at this point.

Then make it happen Sam, you whinny fuck. But I think you need to get a fucking job to actually get paid. Wait, I am sure welfare pays you once a month.

The moral of the story here is, DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH WACHOVIA, they are obviously fraudsters and cheats.

It looks like Wachovia is going to have a public relations problem from this incident. They need to reimburse the guy in the news story then put out a press release that they did so. What, does Wachovia think that somebody would have the effrontery to falsely claim that he got not one but freaking 10 counterfeit bills, and the guy is himself a teller? Wachovia needs to wise up and look how much they are going to lose from bad publicity if they do not make this right.

Wachovia announced an 8+ billion dollar mortgage division lost this week.
Maybe they are just trying to make it good at retail.

A friend of mine from Norway arrived in the U.S. with 10 counterfeit $100 dollar bills a couple years ago. There was no doubt that he got them from his bank in Norway when he did his exchange.
When the first bill turned out to be bad, he went to my bank, Bank of America, and they verified that all ten bills were counterfeit.
Later the bank in Norway insisted vehemently that the bills were real but they made good on them anyway.
My friend was lucky that the bills didn't get confiscated here in the U.S. and he was able to get his money back when he returned home.

What happens with bogus bills is this: Someone makes the money and passes it on. Could be a large transaction, but basically not, It's passed at point of sale at a cash register. They slip it in between good bills. Then that biz has been beat if they deposit it. Many times the manager will see it's bad, and put it back into the drawer to be passed back out to the public, thereby avoiding the loss. they "paas the buck".
If you are an average joe and accept counterfeit bills, you've been fucked, unless you can pass it on...
Did Wachovia pass bad bills? We will never know, though I doubt it. Did they employee do so intentionally..I highly doubt that

Who is this guy to have thousands in one bank but does his banking somewhere else? And doesn't just move it electronically? A new dumb teller may issue a bad bill but 10 of them? Only question is is there one liar here or two?
