During an interview with Katie Couric, John McCain made the false claim that the surge in Iraq "began the Anbar awakening." But in a puzzling move, CBS did not actually televise McCains false claim tonight. As MSNBC's Keith Olbermann reported, CBS left it on the edit room floor -- airing Couric's question followed by part of McCain's answer to another question instead.

Although he's confused, Jurassic John's boffo in Czechoslovakia.

"Jurassic John's boffo in Czechoslovakia."

They showed a clip of him last night where he started to say "Czechoslovakia" again. Then he caught himself and tried to make light of it. Then he corrected himself and said "I mean the Republic of Czechoslovakia, er, uh, The Czech Republic."

*heavy sigh*

When he gets Czechoslovakia right he might try working on his "Soviet Union" thang. Unfortunately, I sense that straightening out "Shiite" and "Sunni" and "Iran" and "Iraq" are probably beyond his capabilities.

McCain: Launch, goddamnit, I said "Launch!"
Flunky: Yessir, but where?
McCain: "Where"? What difference does it make?
Flunky: Yessir!
McCain: Now, where are my strawberries?

Says more about the journalistic integrity of Katie Couric and her editors than it does about John McCain, sadly.

I don't know if that is the McCain gaffe that should draw the "heavy sigh." There's redder meat for that.

The sigh was for the cumulative effect, HC.

This one just amuses me because even when he knows he f'd up, he can't come up with the correct correction.

Well, when your likely voters don't know or care about the difference, you know there is no need to really worry about it.

Yeah, that damn librul bias towards Obama.

"When he gets Czechoslovakia right he might try..."

Obama: Israel is a great friend of ISRAEL

Obama: president for the next 8 to 10 years of all 57 states.

It's hard to get it wrong when all that is said by OBAMA is: -- uh, eh, eh, uhh, uhhhh, uh, and -- and, uh, because it -- it -- uh, and, uh, on the other hand, uh, I -- I -- I think that, uh, uhhh, uhhhh, uh, uh, uhhh -- and so I think what the United States can do i-is -- is -- is to, uh, uhhh, uhh, there -- there's been, uh, uh, ah! I am so, uh, uh, uhhh, uhh -- that -- that -- uh, aaaand, uh, uh, uh, uh, eh, that uh, so, uh, uh, and, a-a-and, uh, and that's what I think is so important. L-l-l-l-let me, um, um. I'll -- Uh, um, um, uh, um, would -- would...? Um, uh, um, um, uh. I -- I think that, uh, uh, uh, um, uh. With its -- And so, um --

But in a puzzling move, CBS did not actually televise McCains false claim

yeah, it's that librul bias of the MSM. Amazing what free bbq can buy. But, then again, when you have to worry about the number of hoops Obama shoots, you don't have time to cover lies from a Presidential wannabee.

Like I wrote upthread, this says so much more about Couric, her producers, and CBS than it does about McCain.

"Obama: Israel is a great friend of ISRAEL

Obama: president for the next 8 to 10 years of all 57 states."

Did he say those things multiple times in multiple settings over an extended period of time?

Misspeaking is one thing. Serial misspeaking is quite another.

Katie Couric can't stand the Dem party after what happened to Hillary.

Did he say those things multiple times in multiple settings over an extended period of time?

Much like Rev Wright? Rezko? Mispoken or serial lies?

And all we are hearing right now is "liberal media bias". BULLS***! The media entire has been doing NOTHING but covering up for that senile old coot since he started his campaign and it is time it stopped. The American public deserves to see just how far gone this codger is! This was the WORST sort of journalistic malfeasance!

airing Couric's question followed by part of McCain's answer to another question instead.

Posted by reinheitsgebot

So this is ok? I'm sure it's not illeagal but it certainly seems unethical.

We can just mix and match the questions and answers to make them come out the way we want them to?

I tried a little experiment and I was able to put together news stories that clearly shows Al Gore was the man on the grassy knoll (you just couldn't see him because he was protected by his charisma).

Also, you will be interested to know that Karl Rove's gay lover wants a divorce because Brangelina has that toenail fungus.

This was the WORST sort of journalistic malfeasance!

Posted by DawnGlo at 2008-07-23 09:59 AM |

Worse than a hometown paper smearing your opponents? Threatening to publish private info? Going to the lengths of traveling to another state and petitioning a divorce court to unseal records? Then printing them during a campaign? That is the WORST sort of journalistic malfeasance. Who knows where the Boy Wonder would be today if it weren't for the Chicago Tribune?

Every week with McCain it's something new. If he's just misspeaking, then fine - he's as human as the rest of us and is going to make a mistake every once in a while. But do we really want a (well, another) President who will, time and time again, insert his foot into his mouth?

...Mr Poopypants is too old for the job...

Like I wrote upthread, this says so much more about Couric, her producers, and CBS than it does about McCain.

I agree. it's that damn librul medis always being out to get Bush/McSame. We don't need to know what Mcsame doesn't know.

"CBS Edits Out McCain Surge Gaffe"

CBS should edit out the gaffe that is McCain.

Crisp, I honestly don't have a clue what you are talking about! What's the Chicago Tribune got to do with anything? It's a traditionally Repuliscan paper anyway!

"It's a traditionally Repuliscan paper anyway!"

Have you ever read it?

Fact is that gradually, our mainstream media outlets are not even pretending to be unbiased anymore. There should be no need for manipulation of anything. If you are going to show an interview, show the whole thing. Uncut. I want to see our candidates sitting there saying all the "errs" and "umms" that are cut out. Let America see how stupid the buffoons who run this place really are.

Joe - I SUBSCRIBE to it and read it DAILY! I LIVE in the Chicago area! Ever read John Kass????? LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!

You and many of the Obama supporters have no idea how the Tribune helped him get elected. Pretty sad the MSM hasn't mentioned a word about it. Maybe they just do't want to tarnish him by bringing up anything before the 2004 Dem. Convention.

The only gaffe Obama makes on his world wind tour and it happens to be true!

"Israel is a great friend of ISRAEL"

boy those Rethugs sure gotta dig deep!

you gotta luv it.

Amen, Joe.

Crispee,
And you have the inside scoop on the Tribunes helping Obamas senate election how?
As Dawn asked, ever read John Kass? He's always on page 2 (main/lead columnist) and he may as well be living in Bush's ass, based on what he writes.

Crispee,
And you have the inside scoop on the Tribunes helping Obamas senate election how?

Inside scoop? This happened year ago? A simple search will enlighten you. You can still bring Bush into the equation. Of course it will have nothing to do with anything. But is always fires up the libs here.

nice try at deflection, Crispee...didn't work though.

Back on topic:
Good thing the MSM has a liberal bias, otherwise they might actually show the interview as it actually happened and let the public know that there's not much ticking up in the old man's head.

The Bush reference was part of showing the papers center right leanings...tool.

Rev Wright? Rezko?

McCain and Obama are both Senators. They work together in the same building. They have been seen together in the halls of Congress a lot. In fact, their work is closely related. Their actions together greatly affect many more Americans than the actions taken with Wright or Rezko.

Therefore, because of their known assocation, what one says or does affects the other.

No criminal acts of Rezko and McCain have been directly linked to Obama, they shouldn't apply.

The things I've heard Rev Wright say and what I heard McCain say are not necessarily what Obama believes or supports.

I can see why Rezko and Wright should be considered an influence to how one votes as much as McCain and Obama's association.

The Bush reference was part of showing the papers center right leanings...tool.

Really Sparky? That's it?

Did you take the time to actually refute my post and doing your own search about the Tribune? Uhhhh uhhh uhhh... No because the Tribune has a guy on page two that proves they are right leaning. Again even though it had nothing to do with my post responding to a jounalistic malfeasance post. Caught up Einstein?

Rev Wright? Rezko?

I thought it was a appropriate question to the Obamamite who posted McCain is a serial mispeaker. IMO Obama has changed his story more than a few times and wanted to know if those are also serial misspeaks. Of course any Obama example is chalked up to......?

Honest punky, I wasn't shittin ya...it's more right than anything else.
I read the rag each day...had class when Royko wrote for it but not as much anymore...nice try though. Unfortunately the alternative is the Sun Times.
Back to the surfboard for you...or is it summer school?

Obama is intelligent and articulate.

So watch the knuckle draggers vote for the guy who is a buffoon and inarticulate. At least he is not Black or Muslim or an America-hater.

"Obama is intelligent and articulate."

you must be talking about some other obama, because you most certainly cannot mean the candidate.

So you still haven't bothered to check it out about the Tribune? Instead you think calling the paper right leaning means I am wrong? Is that why you are to lazy or blinded by Obama to read up? Are you afraid of the truth? Not that it will change your mind or adoration about the Boy Wonder.

"So watch the knuckle draggers vote for the guy who is a buffoon and inarticulate. At least he is not Black or Muslim or an America-hater."
----------------

So how is this going to stop global warming?

How will it help Michelle Obama's kids???

Anyone who doubts Obama's intelligence or eloquence obviously has only listened to sound bytes, and never heard him give an entire speech. And of course taking sound bytes out of context is par for the course for right wingers. Or, as someone else aptly stated 28%ers.
Also, is there any evidence that McCain is losing his mental faculties? I ask because at this point his gaffes are so numerous and on such important issues that it raises concern.

Crispee,
What about...

"I read the rag each day..."

...do you not understand?

Oh wait...you can't read so you have no clue what I am talking about, huh?
Lemme splain, Lucy...I read the paper daily, and as a result I know the political slant of the paper, just as any literate adult does. I just lost ya didn't I?
What do you truly know about the Tribune outside of what other web sites tell you?
I'll help you out with that one...nothing.

Oh wait...you can't read so you have no clue what I am talking about, huh?

Play the ignorant game all you want little evil. I know the truth and anyone with an IQ of 75 can read up as well. If the Trib today and the last few years is right leaning... Great. More power to them. What does that have to do with their actions years ago helping the Boy Wonder? Wait I forot. You still haven't bothered to look. Like asking the blind for directions.

"Anyone who doubts Obama's intelligence or eloquence obviously has only listened to sound bytes, and never heard him give an entire speech."

So you base you conceptions on his reading capabilities?

"Also, is there any evidence that McCain is losing his mental faculties? I ask because at this point his gaffes are so numerous and on such important issues that it raises concern."

Hmmm so what your saying is "don't judge obama on sound bytes but mccains are fair game"?

There might have been increased security "even without the surge" FLOP EARS quote. I think we used to call that MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKING!

Crispee,
Ignorant game? Ya wanna retract this part of your moronic post?

"If the Trib today and the last few years is right leaning... Great. More power to them. What does that have to do with their actions years ago helping the Boy Wonder?"

If the Trib has been right leaning for the past few years, as you stipulate, then it means that they were right leaning when they supposedly helped Obama by torpedoing Ryan, which happened...how long ago, little boy? C'mon, you can do it. Take your shoes off to help count.
You're still picking your nose huh? This still confuses you doesn't it?

"Joe - I SUBSCRIBE to it and read it DAILY! I LIVE in the Chicago area! Ever read John Kass????? LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!"

I live there too, though I admit I don't subscribe to any newspaper. I see the Tribune as centrist at best, and I'd put money on their "endorsing" Obama this November.

-CBS should be ashamed for editing one question with the answer to another.

-Another McCain gaffe was when he called Vladimir Putin Prime Minister of Germany

-BTW Obama writes most of his own speeches for those saying he's a 'good reader'. How many books did your hero, George W Bush write let alone read?

Joe,
They've endorsed repubs and dems in the past. It's in the archives. John Kass is just left of Sean Hannity, albeit a bit funnier.
I read it mainly for the sports and upcoming concerts and as I said, the only local alternative is the Sun Times.

Posted by evilpolock at 2008-07-23 05:01 PM

The only thing that confuses me is how you got into the military. As usual your ignorance is limitless. I stipulated and agreed with you as a courtesy because you were to fucking stupid to read up on the subject. But to prove what a useless idiot you are I will help you out again. The tribune smeared his dem rival before Ryan. Duuuuuhhh was that more than a few years ago? Duhhhhh. I didn't know that either. Duuuuhhh. But they are right leaning!!! Fucking tool.

If the Trib today and the last few years is right leaning... Great. More power to them. What does that have to do with their actions years ago helping the Boy Wonder?"

If the Trib has been right leaning for the past few years, as you stipulate

As I stipulate? Do you understand the little two letter word "IF"? You are the fucking clown calling the trib right leaning. Right D A????

The Obamamessiah has another uh-oh! moment but we want to talk about McCains and bash him a bit instead, right?

Obama: "This, this, uh, this past week we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, WHICH IS MY COMMITTEE, a bill to, uh, call for divestment from Iran."

"The only problem? The U.S. Senate Banking Committee isn't Obama's committee. He doesn't serve on it, nor does he serve on any of its subcommittees. Yet Mr. Smooth Operator over there effortlessly lied about his involvement with the committee. Why? To boost his credentials? To try and hide his lack of experience? To make himself look more serious on the threat from Iran? Who knows?"

Complete with video for those of you that are in denial.

I suppose no one has noticed that the US media didn't mention this little tidbit:

The Al-Anbar Sheiks warned Obama today about his hasty plans for retreat.
The BBC reported:

In Anbar, Mr Obama met militiamen of the US-backed Awakening Councils movement - a tribal alliance whose members turned against al-Qaeda last year.

Ahmed Abu Risha, head of the Awakening Councils, said tribal chiefs had told Mr Obama at their meeting in Ramadi that any withdrawal of US forces from Anbar should be carried out cautiously.
The Sunni leader of the Al-Anbar Awakening Councils, Sheik Ahmed Fateh Khan al-Rishawi (Ahmed Abu Risha), told the US last year that he he would send advisors to Afghanistan to help fight Al-Qaeda if asked.

Sunni sheik Ahmed Abu Risha, leader of the US-backed anti al-Qaida revolt in Anbar took over after his courageous brother was murdered by Al-Qaeda last year.

"any withdrawal of US forces from Anbar should be carried out cautiously."

Which dovetails nicely with Obama's long-stated opinion that we need to get out as cautiously as we got in carelessly.

If Obama had made the number of gaffes McCain has they'd be on an endless loop on FoxNews.

Politicians talk for 20 hours a day and they all make gaffes.

Sorry buttfucks, but Osama is the same as McCain, Reagan and Carter and Bush and Nixon and Bush, and Quayle, etc.

They all say stupid things that get taken out of context and are amplified by the MSM

"any withdrawal of US forces from Anbar should be carried out cautiously."

Which dovetails nicely with Obama's long-stated opinion that we need to get out as cautiously as we got in carelessly.

How long has that been a long stated opinion? 2008? Last year? Shouldn't we have been out four months ago? Didn't his own brilliant plan not have a chance to be played out and who knows where we would be today? That cautious stance?

I think this is just CBS trying to make up to the Repub's for the false report Rather gave on Bush's guard service.
