The United States and Iraq have agreed to seek a timetab--, er, "general time horizon," for deeper reductions in American combat troops in Iraq despite President Bush's once-inflexible opposition to the idea.

*Awaiting the predictable bleating of "flip flop" that is going to come from the usual suspects on the DR Left, who should be cheering this development, but won't due to pure partisan outrage*

No, it is a great develpoment ROC.

Something that the Dems have been calling for, for a couple of years now.

It is nice that they are starting to implement the Obama Plan before he even measures the drapes.

But it is NOT a timetable.

It is a time HORIZON.

Not a table, but rather a horizon.

Two different things.

A troop cut by how much? 160,000 to 120,000 is Bush's idea of a troop cut.

"Two different things...."

Yes. While both a table and a horizon are flat, most tables are flatter. Plus, just try folding up an horizon and storing it.

See Bush Cut.
See Bush Run.
Cut Bush, Bush
Run Bush Run.
Run and Cut Bush.
See Bush Cut and Run,

CUT AND RUN
CUT AND RUN
CUT AND RUN
CUT AND RUN

Why does President Bush Hate The Mission and the God-Blessed Death & Destructions his soldiers have wreaked on Iraq? Why????????????

*******

Time Horizon?????

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

I bet Rove came up with that one. Or maybe he channeled that one from The Great Beyond and Tony Snow.

Time horizon?
Sounds like a new scifi show.

"Who should be cheering this development...."

Is it victory? Hard to tell, given Bush never graced us with a definition of same. Recall Bush has staked his rep on what unborn historians may think of his efforts in Iraq, not upon anything actually there this moment.

But probably not, given no enemy was ever defeated or even disarmed in Iraq after 2003.

And also probably not, given it may be hundreds of years, if ever, we get as much in terms of resources out of Iraq than we put into it in a mere five years.

It should really be labeled "Event Horizon"

Standing on the edge of his self-made Black Hole in Iraq, Mr. Bush would see himself posing in front of a Banner reading: "Mission Commences"

Mpaths-

I agree, it is good news, even though the blindest partisans will feel otherwise or try to deflect by bashing Bush in someway, even if it is unrelated to this development.

Kind of like Dumbling and Zed.

"Blindest partisans...."

Just wanted to know the definition of victory of Iraq. I just pointed out the obvious truth---Bush never achieved two of the usual ones.

But have a go, educate me. I'll respect any effort you make as being 100% above and beyond what still president Bush has attempted to date.

Bush suspects whoever is elected president will bring at least some troops home, one way or the other. This may be his way of pissing on his successor.

Between this and playing kissy face with Iran and North Korea, Bush seems to be hanging McSame out to dry.

But it is nice to see him embrace the obama Plan here, as well as regarding Iran and attacking al queda inside Pakistan. Too bad he wasn't listening to Barak back in 2002...

Time horizon is to timetable as "Peace with Honorable Mention" is to surrender.

Just a Republican attempt to put lipstick on a pig.

APPEASER, APPEASER these fucks in this Administration give Flip Flop a bad name, GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR WHITE HOUSE!!!!!

rent o center, you're a d-bag, yes i said it...d-bag. if had any honesty you'd say "yeah i know". but instead you can't wait for the dr left bleating on about ya da ya da ya da.
it's easier the other way fella. and you may get some credibility.

you, i forget you. you will figure it out.

I saw Time Horizon. Had Laurence Fishburne in it. They were on a haunted spaceship.....scary!

Just a Republican attempt to put lipstick on a pig.

Sounds like a Turd Blossom Saturday night!

Once America leaves Iraq then Iran will take over. Iran is already doing much to weaken the Iraqi self government.

Iran is run by fanatical fundamentalist Shiites. They have no interest in moderation nor modern civilization as educated people understand the concept.

America has found itself in a difficult situation. America must leave Iraq. But America must also stay in Iraq.

..........the democratically elected Iraqi Prime Minister is telling us to go home on a TIMETABLE...

........he is telling us to FUCK OFF ALREADY......

.......sorry Mr.Poopypants, but the hundred year occupation just ended.........

ROC

Is it partisan to say now that Maliki and Obama are for the same thing, and it isn't called a "Time Horizon" but a defined goal?

I've flown West towards the horizon a gillion times. On the way to Asia, the sun never sets. Is that what Bush means by "Time Horizon".

Whoever thought up that term doesn't seem to know the world is round and the horizon endless. Or, maybe that's exactly what they meant. One can never tell from this bunch. "6 months tops" before we were completely withdrawn from Iraq was the promise in 2002. Even counting in dog months, that time passed years ago.

Should be cheering? Fine...Yeah! Our soldiers who should have never been sent into Iraq may finally be coming home after 4,000+ deaths and 100's of billions of dollars have been spent. Afghanistan is still a mess and many of the people responsible for attacking us on 9-11-2001 are still living free.

I'm so fucking happy I could piss on the Constitution. Thank you so much to the Bush-McCain cartel. They've done a heckuva job.
