Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

In the animal studies, white blood cells from cancer-resistant mice cured all lab mice who had malignant tumours. The cells have also been able to kill cervical, prostate and breast cancer tumour cells in Petri dish tests. "All the mice we treated were 100 per cent cured," lead researcher Dr. Zheng Cui told CTV News. "So that was very surprising for us."

Why am I the first to see this? Why haven't I heard about this on the news, morning, noon, and night?

Even if someone found a true cure for cancer the drug companies would deney it or hold it up in more testing til the year 3000. Its just like the car companies will not make cars with 200 mpg engines as the oil companies with whom they are in bed with would go broke because there stock would plung.

The corporate giants and special interests are killing this country and the true reason so many jobs are going over seas is not the cheap labor which is a side benefit is that when the USA goes down the tubes those big companies will sevive on Chineese or Indian soil.

I am reposting this from another related thread I put it on earlier tonight which is no longer on the front page. This thread is even more relevant to what I wrote earlier:

You sometimes have to ask yourself if a lot of info leading to cancer cures might be held back or advanced research delayed due to the fact cancer is a lucrative business. Insensitive as it sounds, billions of dollars go into the medical field and various other industries related to cancer treatment (oncologists, radiologists, hospitals, medical technicians, etc.) not to mention the cancer research centers who receive millions of dollars every year in grants and donations. Cancer is undeniably a big buck industry.

For fifty or more years it seems cancer is still being treated basically with the same old methods -- surgery, and then chemotherapy and/or radiation. Sure, some different combinations of radiation/chemo are being tried and a few new drugs are now used in chemotherapy, yet after all these decades, you would think a cure for cancer would have been much further advanced by now.

Makes you wonder sometimes.

from the article:

The study will begin with 22 cancer patients for whom conventional treatment has been unsuccessful. The researchers say that they will know within three months if the treatment will work in humans. Cancer researchers worldwide will be watching the tests closely.

Three months is certainly a short amount of time to know whether or not this works. Usually you hear about these possible cures and they are years down the road for final results. Hopefully their trial experiments will result in good news.

.......I saw the report on tv.......looks very promising.......

........but there's no money in it for the big pharmas .....so they may try to block it.........

........better dead than red............

There's a cure for every disease there is.......

It's called death. That said-it wouldn't surprise me a bit to find out something this simple would actually work.

Universal health care will kill this kind of progress.

Too much energy goes into curing disease and too little into preventing disease. I guess that's the way it works when you want to eat what you want and not exercise.

Don't get too excited, yet.

Lots of potential therapies work in mice and not so well or not at all in humans.

"Universal health care will kill this kind of progress.

Posted by shirtsbyeric"

Huh? Research has always pretty much been separate from the day to day health care. Jerk that knee, damn.

sounds like good news to me...i stay hopeful and positive..cancer,aids,and many other ailments will go down in our life time..i think bill gates will have alot to do with it..we shall see..

It shouldn't be surprising that certain genetic predisposed diseases like cancer can be cured at the genetic or cell level. I would expect to see further breakthroughs in diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, etc. that have a genetic component also.

Unfortunetly there probably be no cure for liberalism which is directly linked to low IQ and brainwashing.

FW thats what i think every time i read lib posts

Wow the cure could happen. But it will never happen unless there is big money for someone! You know the story.

Someone wants to make money?

If you mean persons want to be paid for:

1. Spending a small fortune to get educated.
2. Spending years and years in institutions of learning.
3. Putting to use education and intelligence that relatively few possess.
4. Putting in countless hours of effort trying to do a good thing.

Those greedy bastards have a lot of nerve!

Why haven't I heard about this on the news, morning, noon, and night?"

The cancer society and all other cancer research is in the business of treating cancer not curing it. If they have a cure then all these people will be out of jobs and grant money will dry up as will the tax dollars.

Canada reports it, not the U.S. media.

Treatment Cured Cancer in Mice

Give it to the humans! That way we can get along with the super virus that turns us all into vampires and will smith can save us!

Too much energy goes into curing disease and too little into preventing disease. I guess that's the way it works when you want to eat what you want and not exercise.

Agreed.

But it's not just eating what you want and not excercising. It's the garbage that is in our foods.

Steroids, Anti-Biotics, Anti-Depressants, BGH, Aspartame...

And eating "healthy" is expensive as hell. Buying true organic vegetables and fruits and free range meats isn't in everyone's budget. If I was married with children, I don't know if I could afford it.

Not everyone can have a garden. I'm fortunate know folks with decent sized plots of land out in the country that we plant a garden on. For the first time in my adult life, I'm actually putting up vegetables for the winter. I remember my grandmother doing it at the end of every summer.

They "cured" syphillis and gonorhea and we got AIDS. I wonder what Mother Nature will throw at us if they cure cancer...

People, we all gotta die to make room for the next generation, that's how it works, like it or not.

You know one of these days there's gonna be a disease that makes mens balls fall out Women will grow Breasts on their backs Both male and females will grow another butt cheek and the naval will revert out and look like a platex nurser. Oh and forget about periods the Women will instead deposit a hard shelled ovum which will crack just like a chicken egg.

...Women will grow Breasts on their backs

You say this as if it's a bad thing. It make it easier to play with them if I didn't have to reach around while I've got her face down, ass up.

and the naval will revert out and look like a platex nurser.

This already happens. You know? Inny versus Outy...

I always thought the innie outtie thing was refering to nipples. Learn something new everyday.

I am sick of all our tax dollars going to treat sick mice. Just go to the pet store and buy more, for Cryin' out loud.

Cure Cancer? HA HA HA....
What are you people thinking!!!

Thank you

"Unfortunetly there probably be no cure for liberalism which is directly linked to low IQ and brainwashing."

And that fortunately wasn't cured before the founding fathers wrote the Constitution and Bill of Rights....which were RADICAL documents....meanwhile CONSERVATIVES sided with the status quo...the British during the Revolutionary War. More conservatives sided with slave holders during the Civil War. More conservatives supported neutrality before WWII. More conservatives supported war in Vietnam. Conservatives then supported invading Iraq....don't they ever get it right????

Give an example of one era that the conservatives were right.

"Unfortunetly there probably be no cure for liberalism which is directly linked to low IQ and brainwashing."

Sorry, but needs correction:
"Unfortunately there probably be no cure for right wing ignorance which is directly linked to low IQ and brainwashing." this version can be confirmed, just read previous FWTHOM posts. Then check educational statistics of right wing states!

by the way dear smart one, the word is "unfortunately", case closed!

to CalifChris,
RE: medical research
pig heart valves used to replace human heart valves saving many lives (including mine)
new surgery techniques using video camera saving lives of lung cancer patients (including mine)
new medications improve survival of open heart surgery patients (including me)
check out "Rouge Valley Medical Center in Oergon", constant use of new methods brought about by research

also note the lack of "Iron Lungs" in most neighborhoods, in the 50's there was an Iron Lung on every block
(Iron Lung = severe Polio)

it's nice to be aware of the benefits and successes of medical research, half of my generation wouldn't exit without it !

Too much energy goes into curing disease and too little into preventing disease. I guess that's the way it works when you want to eat what you want and not exercise.
Tell that to someone dying of cancer. Not everyone who has cancer is fat and lazy. Lance Armstrong wasn't exactly a couch potato when he contracted the disease.

Are you kidding? According to the studies, every product on the market causes cancer in mice. They really need a cure!

FWThom and Danni debating each other is like two midgets competing in the high jump.

I'm guessing that all you who think Big Pharm has conspired to suppress cancer/disease cures out of greed probably don't know much about cancer and or cellular biology in general. Although cancer is in a broad sense the same thing (a cell population that has obtained the ability to divide indefinitely without going into senescence), the means to achieve that end are numerous and varied, with different changes resulting in different tumor characteristics (metastatic potential, growth characteristics, immune evasion ect). There may never be a silver bullet treatment or cure and I'm not holding my breath on this one.

"Wow the cure could happen. But it will never happen unless there is big money for someone! You know the story"

You don't think that the first company/person to conclusively show they can cure cancer would make a TON of money? They could charge whatever they wanted and people would pay it.

JPW-
It's easier to make money from a cure for baldness or bladder control, etc.

Science doing something God cannot...

Here's a Health Care Plan: All religious people, who believe firmly in their invisible sky gods, cannot qualify for any health care program. They must use the free services of God thru Prayer. If God fails to help those in need, tough luck!

Signed: God.

Dumpling-
The rest of us can choose to be sensible, I'm sure. Without the burden of the air ferns of God, I'm sure we can come up with a good plan for we mortals trapped in time and space.

Why am I the first to see this? Why haven't I heard about this on the news, morning, noon, and night?

So many retards, so little time.

Bob, you are not the first to hear this. "Cancer" is more than 300 distinct diseases that are lumped together under one convenient word. But each form of cancer is distinct and needs a unique treatment.

Some forms of cancer have a greater than 80% cure rate, while others have less tha 5%.

You are a stooge of the myth of a "magic bullet" Every cancer is different, and every patient is different.

If anyone is more ignorant, it would be JoeLabey. Curing cancer is the Midas Magic for drug companies. They piss billions each year trying to cure every type of cancer, because the profit is so huge.

You, Joe, are a total fucking fool, bought and sold by the conspiracy retards.

Stop and think: Drug companies want to make money. If you had cancer, what would you pay for a cure?

A few observations:

As a kid growing up I would see all of the commercials about adopting a child in Africa. How much money has been raised? How many children are still starving in Africa? I honestly believe that the pharm companies would love to make more profit and not have to spend billions to get a formula to market only to have a patent expire before breakeven at which point it's the anti's and the support orgs that benefit the most - I wonder how much money has been donated to find a cure? What's the overhead? Doesn't the united way just distribute donations after taking 15% off the top for their hard work?

Regardless, If only the strong genes are supposed to survive and 'evolve' from generation to generation then aren't all of these cures and treatments only spoiling the soup and lengthening the misery of man?

Rant over, but it's been awhile folks. Hope all is well.

"Regardless, If only the strong genes are supposed to survive and 'evolve' from generation to generation then aren't all of these cures and treatments only spoiling the soup and lengthening the misery of man?"

If you want to think evolutionarily, cancer is actually beneficial. As we age our cells do accumulate mutations (many lead to cancer), many don't. (In fact, people probably develope cancer at a much greater rate than we know, but the body takes care of it before it presents clinical symptoms and therefore becomes noticable to us) It's the development of that mutation that induces a fatal cancer that removes an individual (often past their sexual, and therefore reproductive, prime) from the gene pool and prevents the passage of their mutations. Think of it as a sort of natural timer.

And holy shit, I actually agree with Vernon 100%.

JPW: Old Farts and Vanity killing kids

I saw a more recent article similar to this one also produced by the UK. Probably wouldn't be too popular among the boomers in the US. Makes sense to me along with your explanation.

Interesting article.

Another example that comes to mind is Down Syndrome.

"Maternal age influences the chances of conceiving a baby with Down syndrome. At maternal age 20 to 24, the probability is one in 1562; at age 35 to 39 the probability is one in 214, and above age 45 the probability is one in 19.[15] Although the probability increases with maternal age, 80% of children with Down syndrome are born to women under the age of 35,[16] reflecting the overall fertility of that age group. Recent data also suggest that paternal age, especially beyond 42,[17] also increases the risk of Down Syndrome manifesting in pregnancies in older mothers."
