As I said before, I think that was definitely uncool. Note that the article also contains an example of the McCain campaign trying to "racially balance" the crowd behind him at a rally also.

The biggest takeaway from this article is that unfortunately we still live in a time and place where things like this are a consideration. One that is not restricted to one side or the other.

I do not have the time to search on youtube for interviews of obama supporters - I am quite sure most obama supporters on this site are aware of his stance on the issues, however nationwide this statement is sure to be true - as it would be for McCain supporters - its just McCain supporters do not seem to be fainting at his speeches or making music videos etc...

This sorry episode demonstrates succinctly why there must be paid staffers tightly controlling volunteers. Frequently, volunteers are NOT vetted in ANY way, they are just handed a telephone in a telephone bank, or a list of addresses to canvass. Democrats have always been trusting of everyone, in the manner of "peace-love-drugs," which is no longer possible.

That being said, this should NOT have happened and Obama and his staff must ensure this does not happen again.

Agreed, Sanantonio. I am not asking you to do anything; there is nothing can be done -- both candidates will continue to gaffe until November. I was simply pointing out that we tend to give our own guy a "bye" on issues like this, or to dismiss them as simple misunderstandings or the missteps of underlings. Yet, when the not-our-guy does somethnig similar, we rail against it. I am guilty of this too, and I admit it. My posting was in response to the multiple discussions about whether it was Obama's make-up gal, or his pillow-fluffer, or whomwveer, who was responsible for it happening. It's his campaign, and he was man enough to personally take responsibility. I am of the opinion that these guys should be held accountable for what their camapaigns do, just as we will hold the winner to what his WH does. My point was that neither one needs defense of his supporters, and the supporters should apply standards of behavior equally to both candidates.

Obama didn't really have any say nor should he have to worry about such things. Any political advisor in todays times would have done the exact same thing. It is no different than letting someone wearing a "I love Bush" shirt behind the podium and on camera.
