Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs

On a new web site designed to counter smears, Barack Obama's campaign vehemently denied the widespread rumor that his wife Michelle denounced "whitey" while speaking at Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. "No such tape exists," the site states. "Michelle Obama has not spoken from the pulpit at Trinity and has not used that word."

Larry Johnson, among others, won't be happy about this.

Good Catch Gal. I heard they put up this site on the news. Wouldn't it be cool if the "Republican Attack Machine" were defeated in this way?

I've always thought there should be a law that any distortions or lies should be prosecuted - like a Truth in Politics law. I am so sick of this crap overshadowing the issues that I think a mandatory 5 years and deportation wouldn't be too severe. How hard is it to throw your hat into the ring, make your point, and stick to the facts?

I have been saying for weeks that if this "tape" (actually DVD) existed there would no way be just "one copy" of it, supposedly (even from Flowbee's own reporting) this was a DVD that was sold by Trinity via its website. So we are supposed to believe that only ONE copy exists and that ONE copy is in the hands of the vast republican conspiracy machine to bring Barack down in October? I mean, I am all for conspiracy theories but damn!

A good site for ferreting out political truths from lies is:

factcheck.org/

Here are a couple of interesting pieces about Obama and Clinton:

Gunning for Obama May 6, 2008
A messy set of facts makes for a plausible mailer attack on Obama.

A mailer sent from Clinton's campaign to the homes of selected Indiana voters just before the Democratic primary goes after Obama for allegedly shifting his position on guns to suit his audience. The mailer's not outright wrong in any of its statements. But the facts muddy the picture.

www.factcheck.org

Clinton Spins Her Donors May 30, 2008
She claims recent national polls "consistently" show she'd win in November. That's not true.

www.factcheck.org

There are some good articles on the front page about McCain too.

"Whitey", no. "Honky", yes.

I TOLD YOU SO. No way in hell would Larry Johnson allow Hellary to lose without airing it. If the tape actually existed. It would be played all over the MSM.

Larry Mohr

you "TOLD US SO"

You can;t be this stupid, but then again your a liberal, and evolved from apes, so you could be.

Nobody here knows if its true. But if it is true, your FUCKED.

What I think is funny is, even if Michelle used that term, and even if she threw in terms like "white devil" that democrats would STILL vote for obama.

I personally don't think it will change anything.

You know whats funny. Go to BARNES and NOBLE book store, and go to the computer.

Type in

GOD a biography.

Top 2 are books on Barrack Obama. LOL

When your a GOD, it doesn't matter if you buttfuck donkeys for a living, you get elected.

Kuma

"You can;t be this stupid"

Obviously, you can.

"your a liberal, and evolved from apes"

Do you have prehensile toes? Or are they webbed?

They claim those words were never said from the pulpit at the church, but I heard they were said at a panel discussion in Chicago at another location.

"but I heard they were said at a panel discussion in Chicago at another location."

You did, did you? Well, so did I.

All that's missing is proof.

But, hey, who needs that when you've got a rumor to go on?

Oh, by the way, did you also hear that the moon is made of cheese? Well, I did.

...and babies are delivered by storks, I heard that once.

They claim those words were never said from the pulpit at the church, but I heard they were said at a panel discussion in Chicago at another location.

The rumors have been explicit, and constantly changing. The Obama web site published the complete agenda, speakers included. It doesn't look very good for ol' Larry Johnson. Every site where the alleged comments were made is covered.

Also, for those morons out there that are claiming Obama's wasn't born in the United States, they've scanned and put his birth certificate on the website, too. They also covered when Hawaii became a State.

The Obama site, agenda, meetings, etc.

Lie:

"The Michelle Obama Rant Tape was filmed between June 26th - July 1st 2004 in Chicago, IL at the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition Conference at Trinity United Church: specifically the Women's Event."

Read the post
hillbuzz.blogspot.com

Truth:

Michelle Obama was not on a panel, and the Rainbow Push Conference was at the Sheraton.

"There's also this:"

I know, but I don't want to have all the fun.

Well there is the flat out denial I was looking for... okay...

I am curious why Larry Johnson, who had been a rising star with the left, would put his entire reputation and credibility on the line with this, without ever having seen the tape... Maybe he got played by his "republican sources."

Or maybe it is in the hands of Republicans and Obama doesn't think it exists... But for the moment I think everyone pretty much has to lean towards that it doesn't exist.

The reason the Senator has a problem is because he comes and also brags he's from the biggest cess pool known to man. The State of IL. Can't think of one honest person in IL. politics.

From the Obama website:

No such tape exists. Michelle Obama has not spoken from the pulpit at Trinity and has not used that word.

Sorry, Rob. On re-reading your post, I thought you were still questioning it. My mistake. You have indeed become enlightened. :-)

No need to apologize Midi...

Such an outright denial means you really have to trust them, until proven otherwise... However, after this outright denial, if such a tape surfaces then he should resign.

" However, after this outright denial, if such a tape surfaces then he should resign."

And if it doesn't, who should resign?

Larry Mohr hopes to get laid, but there is no way he'll get it. Too bad every alternative is illegal.

Lee Atwater

There is not a racist bone or thought in Michelle's body.

Then shouldn't FOX NEWS resign for calling her "Baby Mama?"

By the way...I didn't think she was up for election.

And if it doesn't, who should resign?

Well Larry Johnson without question should/will be gone from the public spotlight for good... or he needs to name his sources so we can all see how this story developed.

In actuality that's what he should do now... I think on his site he claimed 3 different sources for the video... well name them

And if it doesn't, who should resign?

I said its likely the tape doesn't exist given this outright denial from the Obama camp... what more do you want? I'm sorry, i'm not making you a pie.

You know if Lee had any class He would be worth a fuck. Too bad He is only worth about a buck.

"Well Larry Johnson without question should/will be gone "

What about all the others who "ran" with it without any proof?

Larry Johnson, among others, won't be happy about this.

~Gal T

Neither will "Tiny" Johnson our resident bloviating racist.

Spud thinks it was all just an honest mistake on the part of FOCX news. They prolly got this non-existant tape of Michelle mixed up with a tape with that old Sly and the Family Stone
song on it or maybe that Everlast album.

Either that or the fools at FOX were deliberately stirring the racist pot by using a derogatory term they knew would appeal to their missing-toothed, LCD proto-klansman base audience.

Be Well.

/Luffed Michelle Malcontent's trying to justify the chyron by saying Michelle Obama herself used the term "baby's daddy" in reference to Barack at a speech once.
//No shame, no brain.

Who ran with it though? One reporter asked him about it, but it was a legit question given all the talk about it...

"Who ran with it though? "

Are you joking?!? Everybody.

It seems to me in the "olden" days, a news outlet would verify something before broadcasting it, especially something huge or inflammatory. Now, it seems like the false accusation itself is news.

"it was a legit question given all the talk about it..."

If that's the barometer, it's okay to ask George Bush about blowjobs from Jeff Gannon.

Are you joking?!? Everybody.

After it was asked, people talked about the question, Obama's response, and what he was asked about... but I didn't see any credible news sources saying the tape existed.

It seems to me in the "olden" days, a news outlet would verify something before broadcasting it

Larry Johnson has given the DNC radio address before, he's a former CIA something (not specifically sure what at the moment), and people from the Left loved talking to him when he was bashing the Bush Admin... he was saying flat out that this tape did exist...

What better way to find out, then to ask Obama himself?

If that's the barometer, it's okay to ask George Bush about blowjobs from Jeff Gannon.

Posted by Danforth

Sure, but if you don't have proof to back it up, all Bush has to say is, "That's fucking ridiculous," then the questioner looks stupid.

I think people are confusing Michelle Obama with George Jefferson. Totally understandable given that they are both Black.

Only Nader Has Pointed Out the Danger

Deadly Fallout From Obama's Groveling Before Israel Lobby
By JAMES G. ABOUREZK (Former US Senator)

Like a Moslem undertaking the Hajj, the once in a lifetime trip to Mecca, or a Catholic chancing to see the Pope speak from his Vatican window, presidential candidates seemingly long to trudge to the annual AIPAC conference to pay fealty to Israel and its Lobby.

This year we were fortunate enough to witness John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton taking turns losing their dignity before the AIPAC crowd. At one point in his parody on The Daily Show , Jon Stewart spoke of John McCain taking with him Senator Joe Lieberman on a visit to Israel, advising McCain that when you visit Israel "you don't need to bring your own Jew."

Hillary's declaration of support for Israel was merely icing on the cake that she earlier baked during the campaign by promising to "obliterate" Iran if it ever attacked Israel. That, without even a declaration of war called for by the U.S. Constitution should we attack another nation. (But see George W. Bush's attack on Iraq without such a declaration as precedent).

It was left to Barack Obama, a candidate who at one time brought a great deal of hope to many Americans, including this writer, to complete the round robin of pandering to AIPAC, first by wearing not only an American flag pin, but one conjoined with an Israeli flag pin as well. Obama's nomination has improved America's image around the world, with the realization that, "everyone has a chance in America," as the saying used to go. But that is what makes his pandering so painful.

Obama declared Jerusalem indivisible, presumably for the Israelis only, in contrast to the United Nations' holding that Jerusalem was, and is, an international city, belonging to neither side.

go fly a kite today:>)

It seems to me in the "olden" days, a news outlet would verify something before broadcasting it, especially something huge or inflammatory. Now, it seems like the false accusation itself is news.

Spud was watching the CNN (Corporate News Network) the other night and noticed a coupla things.

First, they've taking to calling themsleves the "sourced" (and thus more legitimate)
mainstream media.

Second, on this very topic they said that "in the old days" they wouldn't have run with this type of story but with the advent of the intrawebs they are now obliged to cover these stories if they feel they have generated sufficient interest or buzz.

The opening salvos in wot is an ongoing war of words between the corporate MSM and the more horizontal blogworld regarding believability.

Spud wonders when the "Obama's Momma was a Bigamist" smear will next appear and whether it too will spill over into the supposedly sancrosant world of corporate news aka BigNews.

Be Well.

"What better way to find out, then to ask Obama himself?"

How about producing the video?

"Sure, but if you don't have proof to back it up, all Bush has to say is, "That's fucking ridiculous,""

Why shouldn't some (at least some) proof be required before the question is posed?

Kuma has to be a spoof.

How about producing the video?

The person who asked the question, never claimed to have the video... he was asking about what Larry Johnson was saying.

Why shouldn't some (at least some) proof be required before the question is posed?

People want to act like this was just some silly internet rumor. Larry Johnson is not just some random blog poster... he's testified at congressional committees, he's given the DNC radio address...
en.wikipedia.org

If you had Richard Clarke saying he heard Jeff Gannon blew the president, someone would ask the President about it... it wasn't the rumor that made the story fly, it was who was telling it.

I'm glad you don't consider Rush, et al., credible. Or Sean Hannity.
celebgalz.com

they're commentators... radio/tv hosts... I said news sources...

"it wasn't the rumor that made the story fly, it was who was telling it."

That suggests a single source can replace actual reporting. I disagree. And we've certainly had instances of reporters being let in on a scoop...just not in this case. That no one was should have set off alarm bells, if the sheer ludicrousness of the claim---and that there was only ONE copy---didn't already.

Your point was the guy who did this should resign. So should all the "pundits" who reported it as if it were gospel. If we've learned anything, it should be this: anyone can lie. Even folks who've given a DNC radio address. There's no excuse for not sourcing a scoop, I don't care how juicy it may seem. And this one is particularly heinous, as it's nothing but a gutter smear, yet will continue in the minds of KoolAid drinkers ad nauseam. How many times will we see a false claim of "whitey" between now and November?

And what's next? Calling a fist bump a terrorist fist jab?!?

all Bush has to say is, "That's fucking ridiculous," then the questioner looks stupid.

Posted by Rob_The_A_Hole

Since that was not his answer pertaining to rumors of cocaine use, do you assume that those rumors are true?

Calling a fist bump a terrorist fist jab?!?

Posted by Danforth

I call it creepy...

"I call it creepy..."

The bump, or the Fox News anchor suggesting it might be a "terrorist fist jab"?

Fox News is simply playing to their core audience who they are worried of losing. The ignorant racist white American. Thing is that is only 20% of the population most likely. The rest will be offended and therefore more sympathetic to Obama. Best line I heard about this is to wait until Michelle shows up on Oprah and they both cry about the abuse in front of the soccermoms of America. This sort of stuff only helps Obama

BLT,

You are very naive. Except for Jimmy Carter there hasn't been a religious President in at least a century. Every modern politician has to profess being a good Christian, man of god and all that other bullshit in order to get the monkey votes of the religious. I seriously doubt Obama showed up to very many sermons. He needed Wright to show he was "religious". Just like Bush became born-again but never goes to church and Clinton always went to church during his years of office. It's a big joke.
