Texas Rep. Ron Paul announced Thursday he is suspending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination to focus his time on building an organization to help recruit and elect small-government Republicans. "We want to elect constitutionalists, limited government Republicans across the country at the state and federal level," said Paul spokesman Jesse Benton.

What?

This is how the Reform Party got started with Ross Perot.

He has the right idea though--Most of his ideas were common sense and if you have lots of people with the same kind of values--it would be good for America if there were more like Ron Paul.

Good for him,

This is where I hoped his campaign would lead. Perhaps turning into a republican version of Deans DFA.

Paul's Pentaverate?

it would be good for America if there were more like Ron Paul.

I did music for some Ron Paul spots - gratis.

A wealthy friend of mine did some large buys on Clear Channel stations in states like Florida and Michigan.

Wow, Murphy. Who knew you were opposed to the military-industrial complex and an imperialist foreign policy and the "war on drug," etc?nn

Null--you have no idea....

Really though--heck I voted for Perot--I voted for John Anderson! And he is crazy now--heck they both are!

And I said "Most of his ideas".

I am pro-military. If the host country wants us there --we should get some benefit--like National Security or first dibs on their oil.

The War on Drugs was a propaganda scheme to grow the gov't--just like the global warming and carbon credits.

:+(

"Really though--heck I voted for Perot--I voted for John Anderson!"

I liked Anderson, Murphy. If his proposal of a 50 cents per gallon gasoline tax had been enacted, we would be less dependent on foreign oil today.

I am pro-military. If the host country wants us there --we should get some benefit--like National Security or first dibs on their oil.

You'd be a patriot in any country, Murph. I mean that, sincerely.

"Duh" FLAG !!!!!

We were TOLD we'd pay for this whole war and Iraqi reconstruction with Iraqi oil! You forgot or weren't old enough to be paying attention at the time?

AU--you are correct in that Iraq should be paying more for thier own way.

Afghanistan is run correctly--but as soon as gov't is introduced--ie not having the Iraqis in the plan from the very beginning--that has been our problem since. Should have put Iraqis in place--whether from outside or inside from the beginning. Bremer--wrong for the most part was the wrong guy--but the mismanagement of the peace has been the prolonged problem of Iraq.

And Rumsfeld--although with good intentions of getting rid of the Iraqi military--who could trust them? Was a huge miscalculation.

I foresee some possible difference of opinion here but...

Ron Paul was and is a fucking idiot. He goes down hill from there. You hate Shrubbie? He is a genius compared to Ron Paul.

Did some of you ever wonder why so many people looked at him like a ass hole. They must have thought they had him pegged along with some supporters.

Those that chart their own courses in life are usually labeled idiots,Freaks, weirdos. The normals can't understand uniqueness.

Larry Mohr

Larry, you are completely right.

Thanks Member. I speak from experience on THAT one. That is what bugs Me about folks who claim that conformity is a sign of maturity. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Larry Mohr

Give 'em hell Larry!

so he ends it huh?
guess he got the memo a little late. his campaign was finished a LONG TIME AGO.......

Wow Murph, you admit everyone you supported is incompetent, yet you voted in '04 to let them continue their massive incompetency. And you're going to vote this time again for the same thing.

Ron who?

"And you're going to vote this time again for the same thing."

Murphy is a sheep, always has been always will be. She does as Fox News tells her, repeats the talking points and obeys. A momentary love affair with wacko Ron Paul doesn't excuse years of voting for Bush and the disaster known as the American economy.

This just in,

1) no one with true moral rectitude (not the kind practiced by the christians but the real kind) can ever be elected in this country.

2) no one with a single minded goal of actually enforcing the established rules will ever be elected.

Moral rectitude and that pesky constitution get in the way of putting money in fat pockets.

You could hardly find two lawmakers with more different politics than Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders. They are both very alike though in how they have remained independent and not been corrupted by the system. Neither of them or anybody like them will ever get elected as president but Vermont has elected Sanders as an Independent Senator so it's not impossible that Texas could do the same for Ron Paul as an Independent.

God knows the Bush clones we have now in Hutchison and Cornyn need replacing. Cornyn is up for re-election this year so it's probably too late to get rid of him unless a miracle happens in Bushland and the Dem beats him but Hutchison keeps talking about retirement and there are even right wing wackoids suggesting her as McCain's VP, so Paul could take her place. All she's been good for is squawking like a demented parrot about abolishing the "death" tax. Paul might have the same agenda for all I know, but he'd be less annoying.

I like his mother's fish sticks!

Otherwise never heard of the guy.

I don't buy this ending the campaign yet. I think Paul will want to have his delegates seated at the convention so they can raise hell over the nomination of McCain. That will be a hoot!

Ron Paul's biggest flaws are honesty and integrity for upholding the basic tenets of the Constitution.

His campaign for office was over after New Hampshire, but his message will continue to spread. He is a great Patriot. Good to know that he is starting a new political movement called Campaign for Liberty to continue to spread the good work he has done for the country.

Where did all the money go? He was raising tens of millions of dollars... he was doing better then any other candidate...

I think a lot of Ron Paul supporters got duped...

'Night 'Night you fucking lunatic!

Wow Murph, you admit everyone you supported is incompetent, yet you voted in '04 to let them continue their massive incompetency. And you're going to vote this time again for the same thing.

The odd part is that this is the same Murphy who is claiming Obama is too incompetent to be president, all while still supporting people who have proven themselves to be grossly inept at running the country.
