Senator John McCain has aggressively tried to distance himself from President Bush in an effort to avoid being tagged by Democrats as running for Bush's third term. McCain's chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC's This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.

yes I can say that even though I didnt like what mccain and lyndsy did those times, I will say that he trashed the other side's spokesman...........someone named kerry.........anyone know that name????? I heard he was in nam though>.................

graham chewed him up and spit him out..........
especailly when kerry talked about mccain being associated with bush..graham then lit into him about obama's associates...........I beleive that will be a prime answer to the mcbush attack from the dems.

What was that blathering about?

Lay off the tomatoes, BLT. You've got diarrhea of the keyboard.

Does anybody read that drivel?

youtube.com

It is sad that the press lets Obama and the Dems get away with this.

Simply pointing out how bad Bush is should not be allowed to be a strategy. Granted he is bad. That is old news, what will they do? *How* will things be different? How much will his policies cost? How much will our taxes go up? How will he balance the budget. How will he secure the border? How will he bring the troops home? How will he fix Social Security? These are the real issues, not how bad Bush is.

Again, it is pathetic that the press is so caught up in their hatred for Bush that they do not ask these important questions.

SAWDUST I think it is pretty obvious that much of what he will "do" is allow the Bush tax cuts to expire, enforce the immigration laws against employers and he has said that he supports raising the amount of income subject to SS tax.
Obama's web site clearly says how he intends to accomplish much of what he wants to do.
A better case could be made that the press is easy on McCain who claims he isn't Bush III but supports continuing Bush II's tax cut, war, etc. Why doesn't the press corner him just on the tax cut, and have him explain how he is going to combat inflation without returning the government to a pay as you go basis.

Simply pointing out how bad Bush is should not be allowed to be a strategy. Granted he is bad. That is old news,...

Allowed? Have we suddenly become a dictatorship?

So what do you suggest then? We should all let bygones be bygones and vote for a different Republican when the current one has FUBAR'd everything he has touched? This is a fine theoretical position but is not likely to work in the real world.

I'd be surprised if McCain doesn't somehow try and distance himself from Bush. The sty in my right eye has a higher approval rating than Dubya.

If McCain decided to run as a person who likes my eyes, he may win some key swing states.

it figures that the socialists here couldn't get my 'nuance'. but whatever.

this argument will only work with blacks who largely will vote for him because his is black and for little else. that sounds racists, but its a fact you cant ignore. and poor whites will vote for him because he is a democrat and a yellow dog at that because that is the "GIVE ME GIVE ME GIVE ME" party. someone who reads and listens as much as many of us here do will come up with something very different most of time and many here in their thirst for power will vote for him because he isn't someone else.
and now I have to go as the freepress.net thing is on again and NOTHING makes me more conservative than watching and listening to these burned out hippies and druggies ranting and raving from a whacked out leftist group.

"it figures that the socialists here couldn't get my 'nuance'. but whatever"

bushbabblings again

Also, George Stephwhogivesafuck is a terrible journalist. He is also as big as a house cat.

BLT you don't realize how stupid that post sounds when you consider the situation the nation is in right now and your ability to ignore reality and still support Bush. You claim blacks will vote for Obama just because he is black, what is your excuse for voting for Bush??? Because he's white??? Because you like deficits??? BEcause you like $4. gas??? Because you just like war???

Those who refuse to consider the results of their leader's leadership look ridiculous claiming others have no good reasons for supporting their candidate.

BLT: is nuance like Iraqi cities being al queda free just before half a dozen bombs go off in baghdad and Mosul?
Face it, the economic policies of Reagan and the Bushies have failed. All McSame has is the same crap ( his rich ife needs a tax break and Americans dying in the ME makes sense, if you don't think about it and just salute the flag))wrapped in a 40 y/o flight jacket.

If the Retort had existed back in the day, you'd be here predicting the Titanic would be arriving at any minute.

Since the immigration amnesty bill and Graham's response to South Carolinians who went absolutely bat-shit about it, I haven't really cared for Graham.

Lindsey Graham can now kiss any dreams of being McCain's VP adios.

Chris McSame can kiss any dreams of being president adios too I think.

The question from Stephanopolous was this: "Senator John McCain is calling for an extension, or maybe even an enhancement, of the Bush policies [i.e., healthcare and taxes]".

Graham's response was, "Yeah, absolutely."

So it's not true that he said he is going to do the SAME thing, albeit, McCain's "enhancements" many here won't like.

But Obama wants to continue Bush's position on immigration..

Obama also seems to want to outspend our tax revenues.

This hit piece by the HuffingtonPost reminds of this hit piece:

How honest is that???

If the Retort had existed back in the day, you'd be here predicting the Titanic would be arriving at any minute.

yeah thats right...........

danni...I voted for bush the first time because he was a conservative and I voted for him the 2nd time because even though I was thoroughly disappointed in many ways...........(with all the republicans, for not acting like the dems act when they are in control)....but I did it because he was far superior to the alternative and we see that in JUST THE CASE THAT I MADE AT THAT TIME>...it was about he supreme court AND the war on terror. I shudder to think what laws the SC would be inventing if the tall french looking guy were in the white house.

BLT No offense, but I can barely read your post, and have no idea what point you are trying to make. Would you please use spellcheck and proper grammar?

They'd be moderates. Kerry would have had to work with a republican majority in congress, fool. And they would have fought him tooth and nail.

But there were other elections that year, so not knowing their outcome prior to the presidential election might make one fearful of landslide Democratic gains (although, if my memory is correct, I believe such an event was doubtful that year).

suzy.......no offense but if you are talking about my post just in front of this one from you, I dont understand why you cant understand my points.
how could I explain it better, if you dont mind.
he was a conservative who worked with the other side as gov and then I voted for him even after not being 'good' with many of his issues because kerry was scary and not even close to what I want from a president.........
is that clearer...............

and by the way...............have you tried to read ANYTHING From spudpuss or LArryYYYYYY????????????????? LOL

must go.......there is a margarita with MY NAME ON IT on the way...

have a great day................

This is why logic and critical thinking has very little to do with how people vote. When you have preconceived notions that are not altered by facts and evidence, then you can always say that the alternative (in this case President Kerry) would be worse than the total fuck-up we are currently experiencing. That anyone could think that Gore or Kerry would have been worse than Bush II either cares more about their own corporate welfare or personal tax rate than they do the welfare of the country...or they are a total fucking moron. And the same for anyone who would vote for McCain. What a fucking disaster waiting to happen.

Simply pointing out how bad Bush is should not be allowed to be a strategy.

Yet the GOPpers ran in 2000 on that whole bj thing. I'm sure 4000 plus dead is worse than that, unless you believe squirmy spermies are people too.

why don't libs seem to care that the dem candidates always want to raise taxes? i know some of you HAVE to be in the "too wealthy to need tax cuts" category (over $70K is it?). how can anyone say that because someone makes $70K, they've got it made and don't need tax cuts, stimulus checks, etc? it's not that much when you have a family. i don't get the support for this.

MONSTER

Wanna know which president raised taxes more times in his term than any other in recent times?

Ronald Reagan

ok...good to know. so how about today...Obama? does it not bother you to KNOW that he's gonna jack our taxes up even higher? i already pay a ridiculous amount.

I make over 6 figures and Im voting for Obama. Do I "NEED" a stimulus check? No...would it have been nice, sure - but seeing that 1) its just getting my own money back early & 2) I live fine without it - It is so much less important than other issues.

With regards to tax cuts, ending Bush's tax cuts for the extremely wealthy won't affect me (most of these are on those making over $250k - and they are effectively taxed much less than I am at this point). Also, if people would open their eyes and actually SEE, you would realize that the policies of the Republicans have reduced most average peoples actual wealth. Our equity in our homes has been reduced, food and energy prices are up, we are at risk to serious inflation, and the reduction of federal taxes by the Republicans is a transparent ploy to gain votes and put the cost of our society on the States and on future generations.

You aren't getting out of any taxes by voting Repub.....you are just paying them somewhere else and putting them off on your children. And you are paying a lot more and doing a lot more damage to our country that if we would all just be adults and pay what it costs to live in a great country. It never ceases to amaze me how these tax cut at all cost Republicans want a free ride.

these tax cut at all cost Republicans want a free ride

Greed, hubris, and a sense of entitlement. Captains of Industry, Masters of the Universe, and Calvinist Doctrinaires. Only the "little people" pay full measure.
