Authorities are trying to determine the cause of a major fire early today at the Texas governor's mansion that destroyed parts of the historic downtown Austin building. Firefighters were called to the building at about 1:45 a.m., after pedestrians noticed a fire on the front porch of the building, said Assistant Acting Fire Chief Dawn Clopton. When they arrived, the fire had spread to other parts of the building, including the second-story and roof.
