A majority of Democrats think Barack Obama should select Hillary Clinton as his running mate, according to a new national poll. Fifty-four percent of registered Democrats questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Friday think Obama should name his rival as his running mate; 43 percent disagreed.

I'm all for it. The people who would be pissed off are people I like to see pissed off. It would be a great 8 years.

Considering that a majority of Dems voted for her for President, this shouldn't be too surprising.

Ain't gonna happen. They would have to vet Bill. His baggage won't allow it. They would have to go through all the Clinton's financial info.

Mark Warner would be a perfect VP candidate.

Hillary Clinton - Supreme Court Justice.

If she genuinely cares about helping people, I think she'd like that better.

CROCKY YOU STUPID FUCK I'll make a wager with you.

If Obama picks Hillary as his VP mate, I will never post on drudge again. If she isnt the VP candidate, you will go the hell away forever and never be heard from again.

do us all a favor. take the wager.

Come on!!

From the article:

Twenty-four percent of those polled said that even if Obama names someone else as his running mate, Clinton should try to override that decision at the Democratic convention in Denver in August. But 75 percent said that would not be a good idea.

24% think that Clinton should try to force Obama to take her as his running mate.

That's pretty telling.

You and your imaginary friend are not "most Democrats" Boob.

And who the fuck stole my username on "GOOD". I'm suing.

Ah, Repluggednuts (that MUSTA hurt!) chimes in with the offer of a wager.

I'm just not sure the anyone will be willing to accept his used Santorum supply as payment..... anyone other than Aunt Jomama, that is.

It would be the worst decision Obama ever made. We need frsh blood in the white house not regurgitated blood. NO HELLARY AS VP

I didn't write the article.

I think Hillary would be best on the USSC, but having her as VP for 8 years would be great, just for the response of Larry Mohr.

That is hardly a fair bet. There are many VP candidates for Obama to choose and you win---there is only one VP candidate for Obama to choose and Corky wins. You should give odds, and I would say the odds are 6-1. I think there are probably at least 6 candidates for VP other than Hillary being considered. Also, with the bad odds, you offer the same loss. Not quite fair is it. Why not offer Corky 6-1 odds--If Hillary is offered the VP slot--you stay away for 6 weeks--if someone else gets the VP slot--Corky stays away for a week. Now that's a fair bet, if you want to be fair about it.

Before you ask--I don't care who his VP will be. I'm sure his pick will be great and enhance his chances in November.

I'm sure most middle-of-the-roaders would prefer for Obama to strike out on his own course, moving away from the damaged goods of the past. That means no Hillary Rodham Clinton and no more DRAMA!

That is a balanced view, thank you !

I'm of the slim majority of men who oppose. And if I can forget the tone of Hillary's campaign I'd say my principle objection is Bill.

I can't bring to mind the name of any VEEPS mate that was mouthing off every few moments to anybody that would listen.

If Obama chooses Hillary it hopefully would be with the condition that Bill STFU... or she is out !

How can anyone contest the accuracy of this report? If nearly half of all Dem's wanted Clinton as nominee, nearly all of them would support her as VP... SOME of Obama's supporters would surely think its a reasonable idea as well... Definitely enough of Democrats to bring the total to 50.1 %, thereby earning the right to use the word "Most"

Whether or not that is a good idea, I'm not weighing in on.

Larry needs to smoke a cigarette before each post and chill the hellary out...

Sincerely,
God damn Shit Hagbard Celine

It really doesn't matter who is on the democrat ticket, Obama/Hillary. If the democrats get elected this year, there is going to be an assasination attempt either way. This country isn't ready for a black/woman president yet.

edtartamella is our new Nostradamus

Clinton's coming on TV - hopefully to concede with grace

I want Hillary involved in an Obama administration on some level. I think Veep would be ideal, but the rumour going around that Obama's thinking of offering her the Attorney General slot is awfully enticing, too.

Can you imagine? The woman who was put through eight years of Ken Starr and then publicly humiliated by Congress's didoes during l'affaire Lewinsky put in charge of getting to the bottom of Bush Administration misdeeds?

Dee-fucking-licious.

This talk that Hillary really can't be the VP nominee because Bill hasn't been vetted????
Huh???? She just went through over a year of intense campaigning and the Obama people weren't the least bit curious about Bill's finances???
In the general election if Hillary had been the nominee Bill's finances would have been even more closely scrutinized. The Clintons are not stupid, you can be sure Bill has things in order so that they aren't going to fing anything very significant or harmful to her campaign. There is no good reason that Hillary Clinton should not be the vice presidential nominee and I would feel that our chances in Nov. are greatly improved with her on the ticket. I have not see any argument against the idea that made sense yet. Maybe there really is one but I have not heard it.

PLEASE, Hillary! Do NOT book passage on Obama's Titanic!

"PLEASE, Hillary! Do NOT book passage on Obama's Titanic!"

You don't understand- she knows where the icebergs are. That's why we need her.

But the Titanic came apart because of sub-standard rivets.

" I have not see any argument against the idea that made sense yet. Maybe there really is one but I have not heard it."

In the big picture, it goes against Obama's theme of change. Hillary still represents "old Washington", as she was one of the ultimate insiders a decade ago. Hillary also negates the Obama bump for down-ticket candidates, since the Republicans would have their fund-raising dream of running against Hillary Clinton.

Also...there will also always be a Vietnam connection with that generation. The images suggest hero-prisoner John McCain and hippie protester Hillary Clinton (unfair, I know...but there, nonetheless, & recognizable to baby boomers), and immediately it's "right vs. left", "protester vs. patriot", "us vs. them" divisions again.

Obama at least holds the possibility of turning the page. We've tried being at the throats of our enemies and even our co-Americans for years. Let's try something else.

"Obama at least holds the possibility of turning the page. We've tried being at the throats of our enemies and even our co-Americans for years. Let's try something else."

Carter redux.

Marty-
Even in your most pessimistic view, it's better than actively dashing our American brains on the rocks below, as "W" has done to us for the last 7+ years -- and as McCain promises to continue in the most integral ways: war and economy.

" Even in your most pessimistic view, it's better than actively dashing our American brains on the rocks below, as "W" has done to us for the last 7+ years -- and as McCain promises to continue in the most integral ways: war and economy."

So- you trust a totally new group of people who have little idea of where the pitfalls are to grope our way towards a better America?

Obama/Clinton is a perfect recipe to avoid both your concerns and mine. With Obama as Prez, the "new broom" is at the top, so others lower down the food chain do their sweeping under his direction. But with Hill as Veep, there's a ready-made working knowledge of how shit actually gets done in Washington, so she can assist Obama in getting his missions accomplished.

The last time we had a really new broom was Carter, which was why I invoked his name. Dumbass thought getting elected Prez was all there was to running the country. It got to the point where Congress turned handing him his ass into a game. Nothing that made any real difference to the people who'd elected Jimmeh got done, which is why people fell all over themselves voting for Little Ronnie Reagan in '80.

Trust me, you do NOT want a White House full of good intentions and no experience to speak of. We've been there, we've done that, and it put Republicans in La Casa Blanca last five terms out of seven. Since Carter blew it so big-time, we've had relief from Rethugs only eight years out of the last twenty-eight.

Now, if that's not a sobering thought, I don't know what the fuck is.

I will vote for Obama depending on whom he picks as his running mate.

He is a good man. He has great ideas but NO he does NOT have the political savvy quite yet for the job that is probably the hardest job in the land.
I would have really liked to be able to vote for him after eight years of being Hillary's VP!

I guess it depends on what he does with the smart Clinton lady- Will he be smart enough to keep her somewhere where she will be able have the influence to help make great changes?

By the way- those of you who insist on foul language in this (or any) post- it certainly tends to remove any credibility you may have had...
p

"Carter redux."

Yeah. Only this time we don't fuck it up by electing Reagan.

ER....where is that CArter energy plan again????

Oh, but I know, you thought it was still cool to make fun of Carter. Times change. Now Carter is in and Reagan is so out! It's called perspective.

"By the way- those of you who insist on foul language in this (or any) post- it certainly tends to remove any credibility you may have had..."

By the wayp those of you who insist on prettily cleaned-up, euphimistic language in this (or any) post- it certainly tends to remove all doubt that you're a tighty rightie who has no business here at the Drudge Retort, the Deep End of the Pool.

Obama = Affirmative Action

No Experience....gets the top job.

"Oh, but I know, you thought it was still cool to make fun of Carter. Times change. Now Carter is in and Reagan is so out! It's called perspective."

No, it is called "currently fashionable thinking". Anyone who has nostalgia for Carter is an idiot. An energy crisis, inflation, unemployment, the Middle East gathering momentum for the storm we're now dealing with, and none of these problems dealt with properly, though they were inherited from Republican predecessors.

Carter talked his ass off about energy, but his efforts failed, quite miserably, to achieve any permanent downward usage trends. There were some temporary reductions achieved by imposing a 55 mph speed limit, and a few other means that impacted end-users, but the real and permanent mandates that would have gotten our energy jones under control were sadly lacking. Just look at how easily Detroit was able to circumvent CAFE standards for a while, using non-qualifying truck platforms to make El Piggo Grande SUV's.

Carter wasn't entirely an empty suit, but it became pretty clear that he couldn't accomplish his promises.

The 55 MPH speed limit happened in 1974.

Carter was president from 1977 to 1981.

Most dems do not want Obama/Clinton. Most dems want Obama and someone else. Even Gov Rendell from Pa who is one of Hillarys staunchest supporters said Hillary should not be the VP if for no other reason that the VP should not overshadow the President. Hillary could not help but overshadow Barack whether intensional or otherwise and those are the words of Rendell. Whatever you think Hillary brings to the table she matches the negatives with all the baggage of her past and Bills past. It ain't gonna happen.

"The 55 MPH speed limit happened in 1974.

Carter was president from 1977 to 1981."

And did Carter do anything more to bring down gas consumption, despite all his pretty talk? He did not.

That was my point, Zat.

It is interesting to see the extent of the hatred posters have for the Clintons. As she said today, in the last forty years we had a Democratic president three times, and Pres. Clinton had the job for two turns. He left the country prosperous and respected in the world. He fought against the Republicans for the most part, without getting the full support for his fellow spineless Democrats. These would be the same fellows who let Sen. Clinton be bashed and disrespected in the most awful manner, but jumped to Obama's defense every time that he was down in an orchestrated fashion. The same spineless Democrats who act like they accomplished something big by putting down the Democratic President that carried the ticket two times in the forty years which pretty much belonged to the Republicans and managed to degrade the historic campaign of the first woman that had a strong chance to be the first Democratic presidential nominee.

Her accomplishment is even bigger than thee blind fools want to admit; she managed to get half of the vote even though she was outspent by a huge margin and vilified in the media every single day of her campaign, and as it looks now that we look back with a truthful eye, she never really had a chance since Dean and Pelosi ran the show.

"Hillary still represents "old Washington"? Fine if you only want to think that way and you are not able to see the massive change she would bring. Of course, if you are blindsided by all the promises of the false prophet Obama. It looks like the people who really refuse to change are the haters here.

"tighty rightie who has no business here at the Drudge Retort, the Deep End of the Pool" you mean "tighty stupid lefties ... "

"all the baggage of her past and Bills past" notwithstanding your huge lack of respect and appreciation for one of the few Democratic presidents we had, you are trusting a yet unknown and unproven person; all people who looked at him with open eyes not gaga over his words are totally worried by his penchant for associating for 20 years with absolutely awful people and exposing his children to hatred and bigotry. Of course, many people posting here seem to revel in this kind of stuff, so indeed I can't expect much ...

I think if you have to resort to a lot of foul language- you're not using whatever ability or intelligence you may possibly possess. You know- the ability to use descriptive intelligent words....

she managed to get half of the vote even though she was outspent by a huge margin

In January, Hillary was a head in all the polls. She also had the backing of many Democratic party bigwigs, who donated to her campaign. Obama gained support from the bottom up. Most of his donations came from grass roots supporters. That, too, is quite an accomplishment, one I hope Hillary supporters can come to appreciate in the coming months.

I want Hillary involved in an Obama administration on some level. I think Veep would be ideal, but the rumour going around that Obama's thinking of offering her the Attorney General slot is awfully enticing, too.

Strewth!

Tres Yum!

Karma, baby!

Spud can't buy into the whole "Dream Team Ticket" mentality but the thought of Hill as AG makes Spud feel all warm and fuzzy.

Feels so right.

Hillary as Veep, otoh, is just so wrong on so many levels Spud can't begin to tell you. Fer starters it defeats the entire Change Mantra by sustaining the Bush/Clinton/Bush cycle that's been ongoing since 1980. There are some people voting this year who have NEVER lived a day in an America that didn't have a Bush or a Clinton in the WH.

Hillary on Team Obama in a position of prominence other than Veep is just the ticket.

In terms of the actual ticket Spud is still strongly hoping fer Obama/ Biden.

Hopefully they came to some similar conclusions during the little tete a tete tween Barack and Hillster over the Feinstein place the other night.

Be Well.

Biden is a moHron and Obama a lite weight.

Sounds like a ticket a 3rd worlder would endorse.

Obama the "lite weight" beat Hillary the "juggernaut"

One down. McLame to go.

I've never been a big Hillary fan, but I gotta say that at the end of this, I like her...She is a one tough gal, a fighter and more 'real' then I thought.....

I wouldn't vote for Hillary, but I would have a beer with her, she earned my respect and I don't just dole that out easily.

Rex kinda hard to fathom You respecting anyone and that includes Hellary.

Larry Mohr

I've been called Rex before and I am sure I will be called that again, but you might want to be real sure of yourself before you step to me.

"I think if you have to resort to a lot of foul language- you're not using whatever ability or intelligence you may possibly possess. You know- the ability to use descriptive intelligent words..."

No, it's just what one does when trying to impress a point upon the stupid.

"'"tighty rightie who has no business here at the Drudge Retort, the Deep End of the Pool' you mean "tighty stupid lefties ... "

"all the baggage of her past and Bills past" notwithstanding your huge lack of respect and appreciation for one of the few Democratic presidents we had"

I mean that anyone who would let such a sanctimonious pile of horseshit fall out of their mouth sounds like a Republican, the party that weeps crocodile tears for fetuses, then tells the kid to go fuck itself once it's born. If you don't want to be mistaken for a righty, then don't talk like one. Part of being a liberal is taking other people for what they are. Some of us are profane. Big hairy fucking deal.

You are proud of being a profane liberal; to me you sound like you just liked the trash can before you opened your mouth to speak. You are also an ordinary leftie who doesn't have an argument and just makes up insults to fill the void.

It is actually possible to be a democrat without leaning to the extreme you know; yep, that would make one a Democrat to your right.

It might do you some good to brush your teeth after chewing all that horseshit.

To quote a well-known and well-mannered and sophisticated Republican: "Go fuck yourself".

There's nothing wrong with a little Anglo-Saxon. I never understood why people say, Pardon my French. That's a Latin based language. Good ole A-S gets the point across in the fewest syllables.

One thing for sure, whatever language you use, Clinton will not be on the ticket. I think Biden wants Secretary of State, and Webb wants to stay in the Senate. Sam Nunn on the other hand fills all the requirements and shores up Obama's weak spots.

Think Georgia, NC and maybe SC going in the Dem column, while McCain and whoever are left sputtering when their foreign policy "strategy" gets shoved down their throat.

Clinton will be lucky to get a committee, unless it's health and human services or something like that. If I were Obama I'd play nice until January and then back bench her.

I wonder how many of the HillRaisers will be donating money to a loser with $20 million of debt. Seems like her 18 million "loyalists" would only have to shell out a buck or so to make that up. After all it's just Chump Change right?

"There's nothing wrong with a little Anglo-Saxon."

It's not their fault, after all, it's genetics.

Sam Nunn is a Director of Coca-Cola

Good or bad?

"You are proud of being a profane liberal; to me you sound like you just liked the trash can before you opened your mouth to speak."

That's because you want everything run through a Nice Filter for you, instead of taking life as it comes. I'll bet you think that guy in Utah who bleeps "naughty" words out of videos (that are other people's intellectual property) to accommodate religiously intolerant consumers is doing a public service.

If you were really a lib instead of a poseur, you'd embrace the differences you see in others instead of trying to sanitize them to suit your prejudices. Cayenne is a powerful irritant, but it lends a lot of flavor when it's used right.

"Go fuck yourself". Thanks, but I really don't need to do that. Should I call you a fuckomoron? By the way Sitdown, is yours sitting down all the time and you need to compensate here for that?

I "want everything run through a Nice Filter"??? You Obamorons deify your false prophet Obama and vilify Sen. Clinton. How about that nice filter you guys crave? You can't stand one word uttered against him, and you become hellmorons when you hear something said against him, and you accuse Sen. Clinton supporters for wanting a n9ice filter?

Go check your head. And take Doc with you. Wait, I can feel some f ... s and horseshit coming down from his direction. Let him finish that, and then go together, and take good notes.

Actually, the powerful anti-Clinton sentiment coming from the Democratic Party itself and some democratic voters makes some sense if you think about how they let Pres. Clinton down, but it really doesn't make much sense during an election year that started under the premise that Sen. Clinton is powerful enough to take the white House back. The DNC is playing dice ... and many democrats are disgusted.

There must also be a lot of Republicans in disguise lurking here fanning the flames ... Unfortunately for us who don't believe in extremes, either left or right, we are between a rock and a hard place; we have to choose between the lesser of two bad choices, The Obama Express or the Straight Talk Express ... Yikes

"I "want everything run through a Nice Filter"??? You Obamorons deify your false prophet Obama and vilify Sen. Clinton."

Dearie:

You need to read the fucking material if you think I deify Obama and vilify Senator Clinton.

Jumping to conclusions is no way to get your exercise. Try a little reading up before you figure you know what someone stands for, mmkay?

"You need to read the fucking material" what exactly are you referring to?

By the way, I was referring to most posts on this site, not just yours.

Less gushing and sulking, ChangeGirl, more real thinking and some serious homework and you wouldn't get such an ass kicking on the DR. Right now, you're just another bleeder in Shark Alley.

And you are just another faithful in the ObamboDumbo Row.

"And you are just another faithful in the ObamboDumbo Row."

Unlike you, ChangeGirl, I do not approach politics like it's either a replacement for or in some way joined to forms of religious expression, i.e. mania and/or ecstasy.

I realize the candidate I'll be voting for in November is a politician. You, on the other hand, imagined you'd enlisted in the army of Joan of Arc.

Are you going to get off your tuffet and actually do something to try and get this country straightened out, or are you just going to sit there and whine? Maybe you could try whistling. As Lauren Becall told Humphrey Bogart, it's easy: You just put your lips together and blow.
