Waxman can start a new investigation: what did Obama know about Tony Rezko and when did he know it.

Perhaps this explains Shillary's combative tone?

Obama's Close Friend, Mentor, Home Financier, and Neighbor Guilty, Guilty, Guilty
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 5:52 PM

See Rezkorama for all the details.

Playing Obama Roulette with the nation's security just doesn't seem like a good idea. Usually the parties nominate two candidates with differences, but neither of whom seem obviously radical or surrounded by radicals or corrupt people.

The sole exception was 1972, and George McGovern was nowhere near as far outside of the political mainstream then as Obama is now.

Senator Obama is himself a radical --though one with a nice smile, beautiful kids and a marvelous eloquence-- and he has a long list of radical friends, Now he also boasts a very close associate --his mentor and home financier!-- just convicted of more than a dozen federal corruption offenses.

A vote for Obama isn't like throwing the dice on him, or betting odd or even on a roulette wheel.

It is like betting the green numbers. or just one of them. Do we really think the country is going to take that sort of risk in the era of al Qaeda and WMD?

www.rezkorama.com

"he jury concluded that Rezko was part of a corrupt money-making scheme and found Rezko guilty of 16 of 24 felony counts, including fraud, money laundering and joining a bribery conspiracy.

Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, was not connected to the case and has not been implicated in wrongdoing.

The verdict nonetheless makes it more likely that critics will continue to question his relationship with Rezko, who contributed to and raised money for earlier campaigns and bought property adjacent to Obama's Chicago home."

Does ANYONE believe for a MINUTE, that Rezko didn't buy influence from Obama, by raising hundreds of thousands for him, and putting up $800,000 for his house?????????

If Obama was McCain, he'd be toast right now

Obama is the messiah--

Signed,

Obamamites

Keep drinking the koolaid and ignore everything you are reading...

"This will be the moment when the country will cure the sick and the oceans will fill up" and I am a facist--but never you mind.

Who does this guy think he is?

You can bet that the mainstream left-wing media will not give this much airtime. As far as the media is concerned, it's their job to do whatever they can to ensure his election in the fall. And, that means any negative stories about Obama will go unreported. On the other hand, any negative reports about McCain will be the lead news story.

I thought the big "O" was about change?

he's just an emty suit

Maverick - Goose is dead.

"Do we really think the country is going to take that sort of risk in the era of al Qaeda and WMD?"

We KNOW one thing, we took a risk with a real radical...George W. Bush and he has bankrupted the government and put the country into a recession. We are involved in TWO wars with a possible THIRD WAR on the way. YOu rightwing loons pretend that what we have now is sane, that taking a chance on Obama is like rolling the dice when really we've already rolled the dice on Bush and lost big time.
Obama will clean up the mess YOU and the people you have supported have created, your idiotic attempts to paint Obama as a radical or a criminal are failing miserably. You probably need to call Fox and tell them to pick up the pace cuz it ain't working.

Barack Jimmy Hussein Carter Obama

We KNOW one thing, we took a risk with a real radical...George W. Bush and he has bankrupted the government and put the country into a recession.

First, the numbers from the first quarter proved there was no recession. No one knows if we currently are in one. And Bush did NOT bankrupt the nation. It's true that we overspend, but spending is passed by the legislature so there is a lot of blame to go around. Furthermore, if we're bankrupt, then why do you support universal healthcare, if, by your own admission, we can't afford it? Why not return to fiscal responsibility with a surplus and then discuss what freebies to provide?

We are involved in TWO wars with a possible THIRD WAR on the way.

This is true -- Obama has said he may attack Pakistan. Why does he want to attack a nuclear power?

YOu rightwing loons pretend that what we have now is sane, that taking a chance on Obama is like rolling the dice when really we've already rolled the dice on Bush and lost big time.

Are you saying that rolling the dice on Bush turned out wrong so we *should* also roll the dice on Obama?

Obama will clean up the mess YOU and the people you have supported have created, your idiotic attempts to paint Obama as a radical or a criminal are failing miserably. You probably need to call Fox and tell them to pick up the pace cuz it ain't working.

Not true. What do you think caused the shift from Obama to Hillary late in the primaries? You claim they only have "minor differences" so it must not have been policy based. Could it have been character based? Could these things have contributed?: 1) Rev. Wright; 2) Pfleger; 3) Ayers; 4) statements on Pakistan; 5) etc.

How interesting that this has received so little coverage until now.

And how very interesting that the verdict came in the day after the Messiah's anointment.

Ankles up Murph.

Great post Some Guy--

Obama is a radical and no one knows what he will do--but he says he will expand the gov't to cure the sick kids and fill up the oceans and everyone will have a job--

So Danni--do you think it is ok to pay someone $15.00 an hour to broom sweep the streets--and health care? Everyone gets a job--so you will sweep the streets. What does this remind you of?

He hates the markets and loves to expand the gov't.

He wants the teachers to be paid by the gov't--take over the schools and the teachers.

And since the schools are doing so well in their own union set ups--they want to start 3 and 4 years olds in school--get them out of the house and away from family asap..

He wants to take over the oil company and take away their profits and spend it on shit that doesn't work. He wants you and me to pay for the speculator who farted too far and now in foreclosure...

He is a radical --so far out in left field--he is in the parking lot.

He is out of the mainstream--but talks a good game.

All candidates talk about change--then nothing happens--then people find out how they aren't about change at all--but just another politician..pandering and pimping...

The country has never elected a radical out of the mainstream lefty as Obama. Won't happen this time either.

"The conviction of Tony Rezko represents a deep stain on the Democratic Party in Illinois. Democrats from top to bottom, including Barack Obama, stood idly by -- and in some instances directly benefited -- while the massive Blagojevich corruption scheme flourished. They rode into office promising to clean up after the George Ryan scandals and they have taken corruption in Illinois to a new low. They ought to be held accountable at the polls starting this November."

Who was convicted of, or let alone charged with, leaking a covert agent's name?

What a disappointed for this site and some of the posters.

Just because you can post anonymously doesn't mean a free rein of derogatory, vile, offensive and abusive comments to others.

When you call the politicians names--that is one thing.

But when you get personal towards another poster that is quite another. It doesn't forward the discussion and it's hurtful.

So when you want to joke and be offensive to females with "Ankles Up" Just think about some other females in your own life that you do know.

Think if someone said "Ankles Up" to Your wife, Your mother, Your daughter, Your grandmother.

Just think how the women in your life would feel--and how you would feel about that.......

OMG This is too easy tonight: his name was
en.wikipedia.orgScooter Libby, Moron!

Are you just practicing some of that GOP Amnesia you guys are famous for.

Now you also can't tell me that you republicans are playing holier than thou with your party's track record of morality are you?

John mcCain, he of the Lobby McCain/Feingold Lobby and finance reform act, has had five of his campaign lobbyists quit because of their ties to the Saudi Arabian King.

And dudes! We ARE in a recession. The figures cited in first quarter eliminate significant economic indicators that proved to be inconvenient for the white house. And the white house economic advisor report claiming that we weren't in a recession goes against independent Market Analysists who say we're between a recession and DEEP depression.

You guys are peeing in your pants because Obama has the kind of teflon Reagan had. And you KNOW you can't take the shine off.

So, good luck with your listless smear campaign. The American People, by a far majority, just don't care if a friend of someone got convicted..right? and as you have famously exploited over the past eight years, the American Public also has the attention span of a ...well - republican.

Hey Conservatives - look - something shiny!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Dumpling--No one was convicted or charged with leaking Plame's name.

Libby was convicted on other charges--but not the leaking of Plame.

Dick Armitage admitted he leaked her name--but he is such a darling of the liberal media it never got past first base.

Even Fitzgerald knew it was Armitage and did not charge him with that crime.

The economy grew last quarter--not much--but the definition of recession is 2 quarters of no growth or negative growth.

It's still painful at the pump and the grocery store--don't get me wrong--but not a recession.

So not knowing about Scooter Libby makes ME a moron? It's funny because you're wrong -- he was NEVER charged OR convicted of leaking information. From YOUR OWN source: "In United States v. Libby, the jury convicted Libby on four of the five counts in the indictment: one count of obstruction of justice; two counts of perjury; and one count of making false statements to federal investigators."

OUCH!!!

Are you just practicing some of that GOP Amnesia you guys are famous for.

Nope, you just did NOT know that Libby was NEVER charged or convicted with leaking information. Who has amnesia now??? BWAHAHAHAHAHA

SOMEGUY2 & MURPHY you can pretend that the country isn't on the verge of economic disaster, that Bush hasn't led us into disaster in the ME, you can even pretend there is no recession.....but that only proves one thing. You believe what the right wing pundits tell you and you simply don't have the ability to think for yourself and recognize what is plainly right in front of your face.
Can't wait for your explanations about Scott McClellan's book and how he somehow doesn't really even know what he is talking about. Yeah, I can hardly wait for that.
Thank God!!! Most of America is letting the Kool Aide wear off, you ought to lay off a few days too, you'll feel lots better.

Huh? You're off base here. First of all, what are you talking about? Pretend there's no recession? Do you know what a recession is? Look it up and then come back here and tell me we're in one. The only people claiming we're in one do NOT know the term's definition.

Disaster in ME? So your idea of improving the so called "disaster" is by invading Pakistan and unconditional talks with Iran? And who said anything on this thread about ME? Still confused about where this is coming from.

As for believing what every "right wing pundit" tells me -- uhhhhh, the only person believing untrue things is you based on your "you can even pretend there is no recession" statement -- again, look up the word and then come back and admit it.

Okay, let's take your logic a step forward. McClellan worked for Bush and can give us insights into Bush. Wright worked for Obama and can give us insights into Obama. Wright says racist things -- does that make Obama racist? Wright said that Obama playing down his church stuff was just politicking. If people buy your logic then good luck in the general.

But 100 years in Iraq, and bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran does?!?

Un-frickin'-believable.

Dan--Both Wright and Pflegar were on Obama's Campaign Spiritual Advisory Committee.

And Obama earmarked 200k to Pflegars' church.

They were both fired from the campaign.

We don't need to bomb Iran--we can place our Navy our there in the Gulf and do a blockade--nothing in or out for Iran thru the Gulf.

I don't have a link to a paycheck, and I'm not sure committee members are paid. But Rev. Wright *was* on the "African American Religious Leadership Committee". So nonetheless, he worked for Obama, even if largely in a "ceremonial" role as Obama's campaign has claimed.

Here is the widely linked press release:
www.gwu.edu

From Obama's speech to AIPAC:

"Setting aside his prepared remarks and speaking with crystal clarity, Obama declared loudly over the applause, "I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. Everything in my power. Everything."

Moments later, Obama put Iran on strict notice declaring that while he favors tough diplomacy, sometimes military confrontation is unavoidable. "Sometimes there are no alternatives to confrontation," he said, "But that only makes diplomacy more important. If we must use military force, we are more likely to succeed, and will have far greater support at home and abroad if we have exhausted our diplomatic efforts.""

It's pointless to talk to people who don't vote and then bitch about the results.

My concern about Obama and all these people he is associated with comes down to who he will bring with when he comes to Washington. If he believes that Pflager and Wright are people he can be associated with, who will he appoint to be the secretary of education or defence (Aires??) or to be a judge. While I do not believe that Obama agrees with some of the things these people say, the fact that he is comfortable being around them, brings into question all other people with whom he surounds himself.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I am getting tired of the "that's not the guy I knew" line. It's poised to be the next "no one could have anticipated".

But to condemn a politician for a few shady associates is just plain silly. No one gets anywhere in this country without compromising their morals. A true moral leader would be shot down so fast it would be silly.

Who's suppressing anything? I've heard this story from about 15 different sources, including NPR.

suppressing this news?

How so?

ACLUSUX - your comment makes me think you wouldn't be happy with anything less than a 24/7 media bonfire over Rezko.

It's been reported for weeks that Obama had no part in Rezko's schemes . . . yet you kept hoping. If you're disappointed that they're not sharing a jail cell, it nobody's fault but your own.

If Rezko was affiliated with Hillary, Cheney, Bush, or McCain, CNN and MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS would be selling bumper stickers and buying billboard space to report this news.

His business dealings with Obama are a prime example of everything that is wrong with the real estate/lending industry today. Rezko has raised money for Obama. It is a fact that can not be invalidated. How anyone could back Obama with all of his lies, denials and affiliations is scary. Even his many goof ups don't make the press.

Other candidates would have been treated harshly, because the media outlets do not report, they distort or ignore. FYI - You Libs are sheep and the cliff is just ahead.

The obvious choice is Hillary. Experience, respect and a global network. The press intentionally distorted her credentials. He stumbles over the tough questions. Quit giving Obama a pass.

It looks like the ears has some strange friends.

"...nonetheless, he worked for Obama, even if largely in a "ceremonial" role"

So do you go around claiming your pastor "works" for you?

How about if you donate to his church, does he then "work" for you?

Look at all the people Obama associated with in Congress? Just associating with Senators should scare you.

It's no wonder we elect governors. They're better ethically.

Obama isn't the only one with a Rezko problem, Kool-Aid drinkers. The GOP has quite a nice-sized skeleton in its' Rezko closet as well. In today's (June 5, 2008) Chicago Tribune, John Kass - a mouthpiece for the GOP normally, by the way - has this to say about the GOP connection to Rezko: Excerpted from
"Rezko is not just Obama's problem - he's the GOP's

"...But even as the Republican National Committee uses Rezko to thwack Obama, the RNC has a Rezko problem of its own. And they forgot to mention it on Wednesday,

It's a big Rezko problem. A big fat one known as Big Bob Kjellander and Big Bill Cellini.

That's at least 500 pounds of angry Republican boss hog, being pestered by the idea that Rezko could cut a deal and talk not only of Democrates but Republicans, too. Republicans like them, I mean."

Read more about it at www.chicagotribune.com. Page Two.

Oh that is so reassuring to have POTUS in training.

Here is the scoop on Rezko--

article.nationalreview.com

And Dawn--all politicians in the Daley Machine of ILL are corrupt. That includes Obama.

The guy has no judgment and is so far to the left the country won't elect him. That is not change--all of his proposed policies are from the 60's and his foreign policy from the 20's.

Unless you include the playbook from Carter--he is highlighting the 70's.

All of it has been tried and none of it worked. This is not change.

All candidates talk about change--but it's not.

The only real change guy is McCain and his kind of change is not good for conservatives.

Obama has yet to do anything --nothing during his IL time of 7 years and nothing for the 3 years in the Senate that reached across the aisle. And certainly NOTHING for his 20 years with the racist preacher!

How is McCain change? Going to war with nations that aren't a threat isn't change.

But 100 years in Iraq, and bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran does?!?

Un-frickin'-believable.

hey danni...........WE ARE NOT IN A RECESSION..ask even a liberal economists what the official definition is......at least what the definition was at the end of the clinton years, but you see THE LEFT WANTS TO CHANGE THOSE NOW.....

and in fact I JUST READ AN OLD COLUMN from the most wacked liberal in the press concerning this topic....KRUGMAN...and he SAYS what we are in now doesnt fit the definition.

BLT,
Just for clarity, here's the transcript:

Questioner: President Bush has talked about our staying in Iraq for fifty years ...
McCain: Maybe a hundred. Make it one hundred. We've been in South Korea, we've been in Japan for sixty years. We've been in South Korea for fifty years or so. That'd be fine with me as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed.

Did McCain say it would be OK for us to be in Iraq for 100 years or not? Pretty simple question.

of course this wont be on the front page... but bet your bottom dollar its going to be in the coming weeks.

Obama has had personal and business ties to this scumbag since 1990. Those that dont believe its going to be a problem are hiding their collective heads in the sand.

Fitzgerald is coming for you obama!

Did McCain say it would be OK for us to be in Iraq for 100 years or not? Pretty simple question.

and as we talked before...when YOU say 100 years, you want the unthinking to believe that our men and women will be getting killed there and he was talking about a presence there and ALWAYS with the caveat that none of those people were getting killed.............just admit it...its an argument that will only stick with people who just accept the liberal lines without even WANTING to know what the REAL facts are...........

It is a very simple question. And so what if the answer is yes. More than 60 years after WWII, we're still in Europe, so what's the beef?

"More than 60 years after WWII, we're still in Europe"

You might as well say, "More than 150 years since we stole part of Mexico and we're still there."

Do you have a point?

Because if you do, you haven't made it.

Did McCain say it would be OK for us to be in Iraq for 100 years or not? Pretty simple question.

Posted by evilpolock at 2008-06-05 01:03 PM

I believe it was an off the cuff remark and no he did not come out and say we WILL be there for a hundred years. Once in a while I don't know really means I don't know. Not sure why it is hard to accept the answer and the use of Korea, Germany, Japan etc.

Last month, at a town hall meeting in New Hampshire, a crowd member asked McCain about a Bush statement that troops could stay in Iraq for 50 years.

www.cnn.com
"Maybe 100," McCain replied. "As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, it's fine with me and I hope it would be fine with you if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al Qaeda is training, recruiting, equipping and motivating people every single day."

He said recently he could see having troops in Iraq for 100 years," Clinton said at an Arlington, Virginia, rally last week in a line she's repeated on the campaign trail. "Well, I want them home within 60 days of my becoming president of the United States."

Obama took a similar tack.

"Sen. McCain said the other day that we might be mired for 100 years in Iraq -- which is reason enough not to give him four years in the White House," Obama has said on several occasions.

"...nonetheless, he worked for Obama, even if largely in a "ceremonial" role"

So do you go around claiming your pastor "works" for you?

No, pastors do NOT work for their churchgoers.

No, pastors whose church churchgoers go to do NOT work for his church attendees.

BUT, pastors who are members of Obama's campaign DO WORK for Obama. Do you see the distinction?

Let's put it differently, if I hired a pastor to paint my house then he/she works for me. Or try it this way, if I appointed a pastor to serve on a committee under my control, then he/she would work for me.

Because if you do, you haven't made it.

yeah I think we both did.....he was refering to one thing and you and the left keep talking about something completely different as it relates to the WAR we are in now. and see, there is one reason why your side wont get off this. you still dont know its a WAR on TERROR with the present front lines being in IRAQ...........and so the whole premise is different but to say the 100 years line the way ALL LIBS do is just not right.........
and so why cant you debate why we shouldnt have a presence there instead of the way the left puts it because IF you do, then you also have to talk about europe and south korea and all those other places..............

I'm sorry, BLT, did you say something?

"More than 150 years since we stole part of Mexico and we're still there."

Do you have a point?

Because if you do, you haven't made it.

Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2008-06-05 01:19 PM

Stole it? That's a pretty incredulous statement. It's not wonder you didn't get my point.

More than 60 years after winning WWII, we still have a military presence in Europe. After winning the Iraq war, we will keep a presence there as well.

So, based on your earlier statement, I would imagine that you believe the United States was stolen from England, too.

I only posted that because so many on this site have said McCain never said that. He said it...period. Yes, he did follow with the caveat about troops not being killed, and I made sure to include that in the blurb.
But the arguments I've seen here are usually the partisan "He didn't say that."
Yeah, he said exactly that.

Under that theory Obama said we attacked the wrong place and mentioned Pakistan in the next sentence. Does that mean Obama wants to attack Pakistan? Do you really look at anything political this way?

OK, Rezko did something wrong that had nothing to do with Obama. That's been investigated ad nauseum. Obama paid market price for a 10' strip of land. Whooptee Doo.

Charles Keating, McCain's chief mentor, fundraiser, and the man responsible for getting McCain elected to the U.S. Senate cost the U.S. taxpayers over $250,000,000,000 (billion) in the S & L scandal and bailout - and McCain was rah rah-ing pro-S & L legislation through the Senate all the while.

THAT'S a connection that no one on the right seems to want to talk about.

McCain's top advisers are the top lobbyists he once said he wanted out of our political process. Charles Black even lobbied for the European consortium's bid for the AF refueling tankers in opposition to our own Boeing Corporation ON MCCAIN'S bus via cell phone, and he and his firm lobby for dictators and 'terrorist countries' right and left. How about some accountability for THAT?

With Rezko you have a molehill. With McCain a mountain.

Wow, it was actually a triple!

Crispee,
No brother, conflation is not the issue here. McCain said 100 years. Obama didn't say we would bomb Pakistan for grins. When do you start studying for that GED? Hurry!

Haven't you put your foot in your mouth enough times defending Rezko and Wright? You didn't even have the class to admit your ignorant post when challenged a while ago. Yet you come back and foolishly apply the same ignorance or blind partisanship.A 10' strip of land? Only eight seconds of Wrights sermon? Do you really believe that?

How about defending your Golden Boy's paid membership to the Joyce Foundation?

"whats un frickin believable is that you think this 100 years bullshit will still stick..."

McCain has postulated staying in Iraq 100 years, provided no Americans were being killed or wounded. Those are his words.

What he hasn't spoken of, however, is how he intends to get to that point. That's all we need: yet another CiC who lives in a fantasy world of his own making.

What has Obama said? The UN resolution for US troops expires this year. It looks like the Iraq Government wants to wait and talk to the next POTUS. They aren't sure what kind of future presence they want. What says Obama?

"Both Wright and Pflegar were on Obama's Campaign Spiritual Advisory Committee."

But you used Scott McClellen as the comparison. A highly-paid, visible daily advisor, versus (now, it seems) a volunteer, or even a temporary assignee. That would make every Obama precinct volunteer someone who "worked for" Obama.

If you're going to use "worked for", and compare to McClellen, I'll need to see a paycheck.

Maybe Rezko can join the Oboma administration.

Maybe Rezko can join the Oboma administration.

"What says Obama?"

From what I understand, he'll talk.

You would prefer bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran?

Well it's hard to argue that McClellan is more VISIBLE than Rev. Wright after the Wright's comments!! =)

Wright worked on Obama's campaign as an appointee; thus, he worked for Obama. Appointees are NOT the same as simple volunteers. Sure appointeeships are voluntary, but they require a selection and have other differences. There does NOT have to be a paycheck for someone to "work" for another.

To Whom? Maliki? The Sunnis, Shiites? The Religious Council? Shouldn't we already know what his fucking plans are about Iraq? Think maybe he could drag his ass there and find out? The resolution expires this year. What are his commitments to the UN? Doesn't this shit matter? Or should we believe his own words we will be out and has no intentions of any American prescence in Iraq?

BTW... One would think being on the Foreign Committee we would have some clue to his foreign policy. Unless his pattern is like his vote against the FISA Bill which was passed my huge numbers in the Senate.

Hard to fathom that with all the egregious misdoings of the Bush administration, some like CRISPEE would continue to beat a dead horse over a minister.

How about all the GOP's pandering and proselytizing to evangelists like Falwell, Robertson, and Hagee - even AFTER they said Katrina, the tsunami, and 9/11 were all the fault of the victims?

Oh, no no no!! We can't talk about THAT when we're talking about ministers because they support GOP candidates.

BTW I spent a few hours watching the complete sermons of Wright they pulled the 7 seconds from. Something others have obviously not done.

The minister in the church I grew up attending makes Wright look like Billy Graham. Catholics, Jews, et al were all evil and going to Hell in a handbasket.

Wright made some salient points in his sermons, but that would have required listening to the much aired comments in context - something some are unwilling to do it seems.

Heck, the "we bombed Hiroshima..." quote was a quote from the previous day's FoxNews show - the comments of Ambassador Edward Peck, who was station chief of Baghdad. Wright was talking about not killing innocents in our rightful retribution for the 9/11 attacks that had occurred days before. Turns out we may have killed as many as 800,000 innocents in Iraq.

Hard to fathom that with all the egregious misdoings of the Bush administration, some like CRISPEE would continue to beat a dead horse over a minister.

Do I need to paste your exact words again? Last time you ran and hid. Do you have the guts to admit your naive post?

BTW... You were the one who posted the media took 8 seconds out of context and claimed it was Wright's only controversial sermon. Now all of the sudden you go back and find other sermons? Which is it?

You're that impressed/shocked?

Yes i am and really disillusioned with the idiots here shrugging it off as no big deal..you people are pathetic.

With Rezko you have a molehill. With McCain a mountain

BS ..the S&L was a systemic failure due to under regulation and greed. prove mccain was involved or proffered even $1 from the whole ordeal. Obama MADE close to a mil off the deal and has been a Rezko sponsored tool since he emerged from college directly or indirectly. I find it plain ole sleazy to defend him. I also find it rather amusing the number of middle eastern characters like rezko that tend to gravitate towards obama including one of his campaign managers that resigned amid allegations he was negotiating with hezbollah...the sheer magnitude of corruption and sleaze of rezko is what is astounding and to put anyone into office associated with this guy is just incongruent with an anti bush message considering the amount of graft and sleaze the current administration has exhibited

Here, he's asked for immediate jail time. You'd think he'd appeal and then get a pardon from Obama if he's elected so that he doesn't do time. What kind of a corrupt fixer was he?

Mussolini Redux according to Obama supporters.

Obama will emulate Christ by doing the same with oil as Christ did with loaves and wine, and all will be idyllic. Oil shortage solved.

Your personal relationships will be halcyon. If two guys want the same girl, one of them will clone. It'll be heaven on earth. Hallelujah.

Obama hasn't demonstrated any particular aptitudes for change yet. But hope springs eternal in the fanatic's breast.

Yes, Obama, the man who promises to bring fascism to America (fascism is a form of socialism) will also make the trains run on time as did Mussolini, and that alone is justification for accepting an authoritarian, who thrives on promoting racial antagonisms, into office.

El Duce. The leader. El Duce.

Now you guys need to develop a fascist salute for your anointed leader. Let's see, fascists, er Democrats in America, could adopt the black power salute to demonstrate adulation and fealty to their leader.

Hail Obama full of grace, the Dems are with your always. Oops, that's for Michelle.

Now that the Obamas are deified we also need a veneration ceremony. The question remains, are they mortals, demigods, or gods in the leftist pantheon. The leftists abjure religion, but now they have a god of their own. Let the mental gymnastics begin.

The "fat lady has sung" unless Revko rats out Obama for Obama's corruption, and it doesn't seem as if that's going to happen.

"The question remains, are they mortals, demigods, or gods in the leftist pantheon.

Let's see, Iran is progressing toward acquiring nuclear weapons. They have a religious outlook that accepts suicide. The "secular" leader of Iran, has declared that they'll use nuclear weapons preemptively to bring about a situation of chaos that will be necessary to precede the return of the "down the well" Imam, and the final ascendancy of Islam. The Iranian Islamics are totally dedicated religious fanatics. They have demonstrated that suicide is part of their world view.

Obama'll talk until the Iranians with their predisposition acquire nuclear weapons. Then what?

Yeah. Then what?

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

CRISPEE

If you have the patience or an inquiring mind watch a more complete version of Wright's sermon.

At 3:15 he begins to quote from a FoxNews appearance by Ambassador Edward Peck.

If you watch the whole thing (which I doubt you will) it makes complete sense - especially since it's now estimated 800,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed over there.

youtube.com

Please note that danni and the dr left offer NO DEFENSE of obama here, just attacks on republicans. Politics as usual isn't?

I thought they wanted "change", and no politics of old. So answer WHAT DEFENSE OF OBAMA CAN YOU MUSTER??

Why, NONE, of course...

" The "secular" leader of Iran, has declared that they'll use nuclear weapons preemptively"

The "secular" leader has little control. The "religious" leader is the power, and he's denounced nuclear weapons.

The last time we believed a "secular" leader's rhetoric, we invaded Iraq. How's that workin' out for ya?

What does that have to do with tony rezko????

But even as the Republican National Committee uses Rezko to thwack Obama, the RNC has a Rezko problem of its own. And they forgot to mention it on Wednesday.

It's a big Rezko problem. A big fat one known as Big Bob Kjellander and Big Bill Cellini.

That's at least 500 pounds of angry Republican boss hog, being pestered by the idea that Rezko could cut a deal and talk not only of Democrats but Republicans, too. Republicans like them, I mean.

Obama's opponent in the general election, Republican Sen. John McCain, can at least say that Kjellander and Cellini were supporters of Mitt Romney. While campaigning in Illinois, Romney made it clear that he'd get rid of U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald, who authorized the prosecution of Rezko.

Kjellander, the former treasurer of the RNC, is currently helping plan the 2008 Republican anti-Barack convention in Minnesota. He was mentioned prominently in the Rezko corruption trial.

In trial documents, Rezko friend Kjellander is called, somewhat poetically, "Individual K." He made millions in finder's fees on state bond deals with Democratic Gov. Rod "The Unreformer" Blagojevich.

Now Kjellander is putting the chocolate mints on John McCain's pillow at the Republican Convention.

Kjellander's political boss is Illinois Republican power broker, asphalt king and casino magnate William Cellini, another featured player in the court papers and in the trial.

Though neither Kjellander nor Cellini was charged in this case, both have been implicated. Cellini was named "Co-schemer A" by prosecutors and called "The Pope" by insiders manipulating billions of dollars in state pension fund investments.

It's like a Bridge to Nowhere without the ironworkers.

The White House Rasputin, Karl "The Architect" Rove, also was mentioned in the trial, as was former House Speaker Dennis "Don't Ask Me About My Land Deal" Hastert, alleged to have been part of an effort by the bipartisan Illinois Combine to get rid of Fitzgerald. To demonstrate their kinship, Cellini and Rezko flew out to Washington on a play date and visited a White House reception with President Bush, where Kjellander joined them.

Later in the Rezko trial, two witnesses said that Rezko told them not to worry about the criminal investigation, because the Republicans--Rove and Kjellander--would get rid of Fitzgerald. Hastert would install a friendly federal puppy who wouldn't bother the Combine, according to the testimony. "The federal prosecutor will no longer be the same federal prosecutor," testified Elie Maloof, a Rezko associate who is now a cooperating witness.

And a state pension board lawyer who has already pleaded guilty told grand jurors that Cellini told him "Bob Kjellander's job is to take care of the U.S. attorney."

The Illinois Republican Party holds its own convention this week in Decatur. The party establishment, which has long been cozy with the Daley Democrats at City Hall, has done little or nothing to rid the Illinois GOP of Kjellander and Cellini influence.

"If I owe a response [about the putsch to remove him from his job], I owe it to Congress, first," Fitzgerald said when asked about all this after the verdict.

Obama owes us a response, too, about whether or not he'd pardon his real estate fairy. But while we wait for answers, let's not forget that Republicans are just as much a part of the Rezko story as are the Democrats.

It's not a mystery why you defend Rezko and Wright and Obama. You simply add _______ when questioned and ignore anything you posted. Read what I mean not what I write. I think I get it and will refrain from pasting any posts where you contradict yourself. I would hate to see you have to admit you could be wrong about something you wrote.

Great article, Murphy. It lays out the state and municipal corruption, and the ways that activists purportedly concerned regarding "the people," use the public trough to bankroll their schemes which usually do little good for the purported target beneficiaries, but do work to fulfill the private agenda of the makers and shakers.

The Rezko properties were unheated, and ended up in foreclosure.

But what's new? I had a friend that had worked as an engineer for the State of California in a building in Los Angeles, a high rise walkup without functioning elevators. Requests for repair of many defects in the building had gone unheeded, and appeals to the agency head produced no response.

Well, one morning when my friend came to work, he and his fellows found a picket line around the building. They inquired why since the picketers were picketing Harvey Aluminum. Well, Harvey Aluminum was owned by the father of Carmen Warschaw, the then dragon lady of the California Democrat Party. California had a Democrat Governor.

At the time, there was a very high vacancy rate for downtown Los Angeles office buildings. Ms Warschaw had acquired many many buildings on "earn outs," no down payment to the owners, whose often very dilapidated buildings were unoccupied or had low levels of occupancy. She was to pay the mortgage from rental income.

Miraculously, State of California agencies immediately negotiated Class A rents for the dilpadited buildings and moved their personnel into them. Ms Warschaw prospered. Upkeep and maintenance never were done.

The lease payments and profits from them, far exceeded, in fact were a multiple of, the payments that Ms Warschaw was making. The strikers were using picketing of the buildings and exposure of the scheme to pressure Harvey Aluminum to provide them with a favorable contract.

All of these State workers were languishing in substandard facilities without even the minimum maintenance, high rises with non-functioning elevators. Oh my.

So, you gullible Democrats, who think that the people manipulating you to advance their own private agendas give a tinker's dam resarding your situation, except to secure support to put them in position to work their crooked dealings, wake up. And you only get crumbs anyway.

Well, Rezko is a spiritual relation to Ms Warschaw, except that she is deceased and for decades profited without paying the piper or penance. Will Rezko be in a federal lockup doing life without parole, or anyway 10 or so years in durance vile? Will Rezko crack? Or will he be defiant as is the terrorist at Guantanamo, and seek martyrdom in behalf of esuriousness as he worships Mammon.

Want to hear some other tales of Democrat profteers? While publicly denouncing the Vietnamese involvement, the Alioto (Mayor of San Francisco) family was it, and also the Brown family (Governors of California), were among the greatest profiteers, earning that "dirty money" through ownership of bottoms plying the trade, shipping war goods to our troops. Hypocrites? No. Just manipulating natural born duffuses, who project unwarranted virtues upon them, and then maintain that these fictions are true.

Next it's the Governor of Illinois?

What about Obama? He was there in the payoff sewer with the rest of his gang of thieves exploiting the situation of the poor and angry.

Posted by Twinpac at 2008-06-05 07:51 AM

Obama's a quick study so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Really? He screws up whenever he's not reading from a script.

And what does he "learn?"

There are 58 states in the Union?

His uncle liberated Auschwitz? Oops, he didn't do enough "study" to learn that the Russians liberated Auschitz.

His father came here on a Kennedy program? Oops, he didn't do enough study to learn that the program began the year after his father came here.

His mother and father were involved in the civil rights movement and he was conceived after they met at the Selma march? Oops, the Selma march occurred in 1963. Obama was born before the march, in 1961.

Well, it certainly seems that although your claim that he is a "quick study" may indeed be true, he doesn't confine himself to non-fiction, and misunderstands, or lies or confabulates, or maybe is just an ignoramus, who isn't a "quick study. Which is it, Twinpac?

" The "secular" leader of Iran, has declared that they'll use nuclear weapons preemptively"

The "secular" leader has little control. The "religious" leader is the power, and he's denounced nuclear weapons.

Oh, the secular leader has little control? Then he can't make unauthorized statements, can he? Especially on the public stage, statements that indicate the direction of the country.

Well based on your indication of where the authority lies in Iran, his statements and the continuing work on developing a nuclear weapons capability, must issue from the clerics? Iran is directed by clerically decided policy, and they authorize continuing development of nuclear weapons. But the country is opposed to nuclear weaon use? Is there a disconnect somewhere?
The last time we believed a "secular" leader's rhetoric, we invaded Iraq. How's that workin' out for ya?

This is quite an ambiguous statement. Are you suggesting secular leadership should be replaced by theological leaders. Okay. Pat Robertson is intelligent, educated, well-spoken, well-intentioned, and overall a decent man. Do you want Pat to be setting policy for the U.S., since you are so critical of secular control? Or woyld you prefer that Rev. Wright the hate-monger, and supporter of liberation theology, set U.S. policy?

And yes, the invasion of Iraq is working out. It's not doing as well as it should have because of the undue restraint we showed in imposing our oversight and control, but that's a tactical and not strategic problem. Where there is oil, that's where our troops need to be. Oil is the lifeblood of modern economies.

RECEIVED THIS, AND NOW I AM MORE CONFUSED THAN I WAS BEFORE ....
LET ME SEE IF I HAVE THIS STRAIGHT:

HIS MOTHER IS A KANSAN, ATHEIST, WHITE -
WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF HIS KANSAN, WHITE MOTHER AND HIS WHITE GRANDPARENTS WHO RAISED HIM
HIS FATHER DESERTED HIS MOTHER AND HIM WHEN HE WAS VERY YOUNG
AND WENT BACK TO HIS FAMILY (WHOSE FAMILY ?) IN KENYA ?

HIS MOTHER MARRIED AN INDONESIAN MUSLIM AND TOOK HIM TO JAKARTA WHERE HE WAS SCHOOLED IN A MUSLIM SCHOOL
HIS MOTHER RETURNED TO HAWAII AND HE WAS RAISED BY HIS WHITE KANSAN GRANDPARENTS ?WHEN ?

HE LATER WENT TO THE BEST HIGH DOLLAR SCHOOLS, HOW? WHO PAID? HE LIVES IN A $1.4 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE THAT HE ACQUIRED THROUGH A DEAL WITH
A WEALTHY FUND RAISER.... HOW?

HE 'WORKED' AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO - HAS NEVER HELD A PRODUCTIVE JOB.

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHTS POST, NOR IS IT SUBJECT TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SET ASIDE
> HE ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL AND THEN THE NATIONAL LEVEL, WHERE HE HAS MINIMAL EXPERIENCE

HE IS PROUD OF HIS 'AFRICAN HERITAGE' BUT IT SEEMS THAT HIS ONLY AFRICAN CONNECTION WAS THAT HIS AFRICAN FATHER GOT A WHITE GIRL PREGNANT AND DESERTED HER. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT SPERM CARRIED A 'CULTURAL' GENE.

WHERE IS THE PRIDE IN HIS WHITE CULTURE?
HE GOES TO A 'AFROCENTRIC' CHURCH THAT HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES
AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLD'S PERCEIVED FAULTS AND THEN REPEATEDLY COVERS UP FOR THE PASTOR AND THE CHURCH. HE CLAIMS THAT HE COULD NOT CONFRONT HIS PASTOR BUT HE WANTS US TO BELIEVE THAT HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN, YEAH, RIGHT!!

YEAH, I THINK I SEE HOW HE COULD BE A 'UNITER' AND BRING US TOGETHE. I THINK THE HOPE IS THAT HE HOPES NO ONE WILL PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER UNTIL
AFTER THE 'ELECTION' .

LIKE I SAID AT THE START, ' I AM CONFUSED !!!! '

CRISPEE

I posted a link that backed up my assertion that Wright was quoting former U.S. Ambassador Edward Peck. Unless you have a completely incurious mind you might want to scroll up, click the link, and find out for yourself.

Just because you (or I) say something doesn't make it fact. At least I attempt to back up my assertions with facts.

My statement about Wright was based on spending a few hours watching Wright on YouTube - hearing his sermons in their entirety. I wanted to find out for myself what he was all about. Actually he's pretty mild mannered 99% of the time. Sounds more calm than the preacher I grew up listening to in church every time the doors were open.

Before you go all snarky on me you may want to check it out for yourself.

AU,
if you say that, okay

but he DID talk shit that time and more than that apparently. and then of course there was the speech before the press club, was it?

and then you throw on rezko and the priest and then ayers and pretty soon you have a pattern or at least a better idea of just how RADICAL this messiah must be.......AT THE LEAST.....he is not a candidate of change. all of that sounds like politics as usual.

and as murph said......dem nomination was simple.
the daly machine from chicago beat the clinton machine.

BL2

Even Wright said himself he was not Obama's mentor.

In a church of 10,000 members the preachers don't have that much interaction with the members.

You should have heard my preacher in the church I grew up in. White guy. Said all the Jews and Catholics, well, anyone not like us, we're evil and going to Hell. He pounded the pulpit and screamed like a banshee about all manner of things. He makes Wright look like Billy Graham in comparison.

Hagee, Falwell, Robertson, and a plethora of white ministers - who the GOP has courted for decades now - have said far more inflammatory things and gotten away with it, as have the politicians who actively courted their support. Obama never courted the support of Wright.

Having read the history of Trinity Church and the vast good deeds they do for the community I'll give the guy a pass for his own feelings of anger at the way his generation were treated as black men. As I stated above, 99% of Wright's sermons are pretty tame. I enjoyed his preaching personally.

This country is full of white Baptist preachers who make Wright look tame in comparison. But, they're white and Wright is black. I think that's where everyone gets their panties in a wad.

"Iran is directed by clerically decided policy, and they authorize continuing development of nuclear weapons."

Nuclear weapons? Bullshit.

Link or retraction, please.

"Are you suggesting secular leadership should be replaced by theological leaders"

No...how dense are you? I was suggesting the ability to recognize rhetoric and/or bluster might come in handy in the diplomacy department.

Hey Danforth, if Iran launches a Nuke in your lifetime, will you commit Suicide?

Its people like you that let them have it, then after they have it, you let them use it, then after they use it, you want to negotiate with them.

Fuck you prick.

Kuma

Nice substantiation, Kuma. You're quite the erudite blogger. numbskull.

"Wright worked on Obama's campaign as an appointee; thus, he worked for Obama. "

Well, you compared one person who was employed for Bush for 12/hours a day, versus a person who worked toward the same goals as Obama, and maybe met with him 12 minutes a month. Some comparison.

"To Whom? Maliki? The Sunnis, Shiites? The Religious Council? Shouldn't we already know what his fucking plans are about Iraq? "

Wow...a Republican actually aware there are multiple groups in Iraq (you missed the Kurds) and concerned with having an actual plan!

I guess we have made some progress.

Kuma has quite evidently not read the history of Iran's struggle with western energy companies as I have, nor about the 1953 American backed coup d'etat (that word is not in KUMA'S 'law books' LOL) that toppled a democratically elected prime minister and parliament so that the American owned energy companies including Westinghouse and the oil companies could continue their monopoly on Iran's power production and oil assets. And all because Iran wanted to renegotiate (wow, a law term) royalty rates.

There we go again. Typical Democrat. "I am smarter than you" attitude.

Will you commit suicide when and if they get a nuke?

Because your helping them get it.

Then why didn't your Messiah calmly point all of that out to all of the "unbelievers" and use his magic powers to soothe us back in line and back into the truth of our faulty ways and beliefs? Instead he bailed too, and threw everyone under the bus, including you, too! LOL, Dufus!

For the fourth time!!!

Y O U ' R E = You are

No one's saying they're smarter than you, just that you're full of shit for professing to be a grad of USC Law School.

Sure, some lawyers aren't the best spellers in the world, but your spelling and grammer indicate 'late shift at Jack In The Box'.

The man who DID put us in this precarious position of Iran having clout it never had before Saddam, it's chief rival in the ME, was toppled is none other than George W Bush and Co.

Blame THEM. Iran HAD no sway before W blundered us into it with the help of idiots like yourself.

Doesn't take a lawyer to see that. Pretty obvious to all but the lamest minds in America.

KUMA

Oh, and my father in law was a real estate lawyer. I have dozens of friends and acquaintances who are lawyers. Every one of them is picky about spelling. Most of them gained that skill in junior and senior high school.

One has to be cream of the crop to get into USC Law School. That includes writing dissertations that include multisyllabic words spelled correctly.

The first time someone saw you spell 'you're' as 'your' your application would have been thrown in the trash. Heck, I only attended a PAC 10 state university. They were picky as hell. USC doesn't admit numbskulls with the skills you exibit with the English language as freshmen let alone their law school or any other post graduate school.

You may want to come up with another profession to claim as your own.

You'd better get to bed. Court in the morning, right? I'd guess the only time you've seen a courtroom was as "The Defendant".

I, for one,

If Obama turns out to be some wacky radical left wing thief. I don't give a shit about any of his friends or connections. I want him in in the White House because the US needs to be shaken up, big time. If he wins and turns out to be a dud, then Congress can halt him, if he turns out to be great, then, GREAT.

And I suspect that that is the emotion behind a lot of people's enthusiasm. People are ready to feel some fresh wind in their sails and are willing to take the chance that it might stink.

Lord knows, it can not possibly get any worse than it is now.

Its people like you that let them have it, then after they have it, you let them use it, then after they use it, you want to negotiate with them.

Believe me, it could.

If Obama is elected, his tax increases will send our economy into a downward spiral, his proposal for universal healthcare will destroy the best system of healthcare in the world, and his appeasement metality with enemy nations will be a disaster.

Believe me, it could get a lot worse.

metality = mentality

Nonsense, we do not have the best system of health care in the world.

Our infant mortality rate is higher than over 30 other countries. Number 1???

Not even close!!!

??? How exactly would it make things worse by paying now instead of later? The spending will not end no matter who is in ofice, remember that, the only difference is in how the funds are gathered. An intelligently run corporation can survive and thrive in any environment. If higher taxes mean some of them close up shop, then let the better ones take up the slack. I live in Germany now and believe me, it's not impossible to make obscene profits in a high-tax environment. Anyone who claims otherwise is just lazy and greedy, imo.

Your comment on the health care system... jeepers... if you really believe THAT, well, holy shit. The best health care system in the world is the one with the healthiest people. There's a BIG difference between being healthy and being dependant on pharmaceutical companies to keep your heart pumping. If the meds were taken away, 25% (fantasy number) of elderly Americans would drop dead on the spot. They've bought into the lie that they can live any way they want and take pills to counteract the effects. Only meant as an illustration, but I think my meaning is clear.

Japan has a pretty god health care system.

bella........pay now? but to the tune of a 70 % tax LIKE WE HAD WITH CARTER...everything going now looks like it did when carter was elected.

okay its a nice and passioned thread and thats good, but isnt what you are saying is EXACTLY what I have heard and witnessed....isnt your ideas here based much more on emotion rather than thinking about who gets hurt, who gets helped, and the ramifications of an ultra liberal president with a DEMOCRAT CONGRESS, I might add which severely colors your idea of the congress making things right when he fucks things up.......
and again we have the old "unintended conswequences" that liberals are so good at giving us.
and remember, it wasnt that long ago that the left was in love with mccain and I guess now that he has become thier enemy, all that is out the window. and SURE, him talking some more conservative ideas has to be a part of that......but remember,...THEY ARE ALL POLITICIANS and do what they need to do to get elected. and then start the RE ELECTION process soon after.....EXCEPT mccain has promised NOT to do that....and we will see.....I still maintain that ALL POLITICIANS should have term limits and go back to the way it was intended......make laws and then go back and LIVE under those laws THEY MAde....I really believe we would all be better off.

conswequences = consequences..

that damned w is so close to the Q

well, im really not on the left, i'm sort of on my own little planet these days.

McCain is shady, too. Shall we count the ways? He's also a dolt, which is becoming more and more evident everytime he opens his mouth. And I have had enough of doltism for a while! I want a president who does NOT embarass us everytime he makes a speech.

Who the fuck are you gonna vote for, BL2?

Btw, pointless tangent, I'm actually a state's rightist. I, for one, understand why the country is called the United States, in the plural. Problem is, there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many states for it to be manageable. My solution for what ails the USA would be to chop it into four big chunks, restructure the whole thing and write a new constitution.

In other words, i'm not really a big opitimist when it comes to Americans finding solutions to their problems or coming to agreement on issues. I think the system has withstood all it can and is really ready to crack wide open. Probably in my lifetime, let's say another 50 years or so. (I'm pretty healthy ;)

I'm content to observe it from afar, thank you Ronald Reagan for sending me here in the first place :-)))

yes, emotional, that's exactly right, BL2. That's another way of saying exactly what I had posted. Emotion. Obama stirs up GOOD emotions in people, most people. He may be as corrupt as all the other politicians, or not, but at least he can make people proud of having someone who at least SEEMS presidential in the office. THAT, imo, is more than, well, I was going to say "any other candidate", but now it's just McCain, can offer. What's the point of reason any more? Is McCain REALLY your ideal candidate or are just too stubborn to cross party lines? I've never voted party, and am curently a registered Republican, btw. It just happened that way.

Btw, BL2, YOU are now getting emotional, I can see it in the structure of your last post.

also, I'm not Bella, I'm her Papa ;)

Even Wright said himself he was not Obama's mentor.

In a church of 10,000 members the preachers don't have that much interaction with the members.

Is Obama even more pixilated than we previously had reason to believe?

Here Obama, the Auschwitz Confusion, the 58 State Confusion, the Kennedy as Father's Sponsor's Confusion, the Conceived at Selma Confusion, etc., now suffers from the Wright As Mentor Confusion. Here Obama thought that Wright was his friend and mentor.

Wait. Maybe Obama was right about Wright beong his friend and mentor, Obama being special to Wright. After all, Obama was special. He did appear on the cover of Wright's publication, Trumpet with Minister Lousi Farrakahn of the Nation of Islam. Maybe you just don't want to acknowledge how close Obama and Wright are. And what would it matter, if Obama adored Wright and his black liberation theology agenda, whether or not Wright reciprocated the affection and adulation. Obama stands as an acolyte brainwashed for more than 20 years.
This country is full of white Baptist preachers who make Wright look tame in comparison. But, they're white and Wright is black. I think that's where everyone gets their panties in a wad.

Oh, this is the "hatemonger's excuse" forum. A member of the KuKluxKlan could excuse his participation by saying he was not a member of the White Identity Movement? Did it occur to you, AU (the gold standard?) that all are unacceptable, and that a person indoctrinated with such ideas should be unacceptable. Why bottom feed when searching for a leader? Why choose someone who requires so many explanations and excuses, and a "Well there are other bad people around too" defense?

If Obama goes into office without having ever been 'accountable' for ANY of the baggage he is dragging along... just sit back and imagine what he will try AND get away with if no one is to challenge him... WHY do the American public AND media let this flake, who has no credibility nor foundation, get away with all this... is the public so jaded as they were when Bush spouted the same messages, experiences the same credibility and conveniently forgets certain periods of life.. and, just simply passes them off as 'attacks on his character by jealous enemies'.... go figure!!!

hey I have a new theory: maybe he's the smooth-talking anti-Christ! How ya gonna stop him if he is???

Obama misspoke.

Compare that to Bush, President of The United States, not knowing there were Sunni, Shiite, and Kurds who didn't like each other the day we invaded Iraq - a country that didn't threaten us, didn't attack us, and who's leader was 'boxed in', and 'didn't do it (9/11) according to the Vice President of the U.S. - a man who's set the policies for the President, and who stated categorically in 1994 that to have invaded Iraq in 1991 would have created a 'quagmire', yet then chose to ignore his own reasoning in the face of intelligence services from around the world debunking almost every claim the WH put forth.

A president who chose to fire all those who had the courage to stand up publicly and question the reasons for taking us to a war Bush's Defense Secretary said would be over in "I can't imagine more than 6 months", and kept the incompetent and tragically wrong SecDef on for years after he was proven so wrong.

There's a website with literally hundreds of Bush misstatements. All of which make confusing Auschwitz with Buchenwald pale in comparison. Obama's uncle was in fact one of the liberators. A fact you very well know.

Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush.

-American Unity and other Democrats

What will you whiners have to deflect to when he's no longer around?

AmericanUnity,

I could be wrong, but it seems you dislike Bush and think he's not very bright. If my assumptions are correct, then why do you use Bush as the "bar" to compare Obama to? It would seem you'd prefer a higher standard.

But regardless of that, it doesn't make much sense to say, "Bush screwed up so it's okay for Obama to." You can make comparisons of the consequences and in fact they are quite different. However, you fail to mention that Obama has NOT been in a position where his screw ups could have such significant consequences.

What if Iran were to develop nuclear weapons while Obama only was willing to "speak"... would that be a screw up in your mind?

If all the people commenting on this site that voted for Bush agreed that he let them down and abused the trust of their vote, would the lefties stop using him as a barometer for future presidents - ie. well at least he did not get us into an illegal war -?

If not, then the supposed purpose of the blog seems to be pointless - it becomes he said she said or my daddy can beat your daddy up. What about discussion of ideas to provoke solutions to current problems - issues.

No one is going to be able to engage in meaningful discussion with someone expressing an opposing viewpoint if all you can say is - well he sure is better than the worst president in history.

Grow up - Bush is not running. It is ok to learn from past mistakes, but using a president with low performance as a benchmark to prop up your candidate does nothing but lower expectations - maybe thats the point.

If not, then the supposed purpose of the blog seems to be pointless - it becomes he said she said or my daddy can beat your daddy up. What about discussion of ideas to provoke solutions to current problems - issues.

Welcome to the world of liberal blog sites. Hell welcome to the liberal world. One only has to look at the current majority to understand what gets posted here. Neither can live up to the last sentence of your post.

Grow up - Bush is not running.

Exactly. Bush is history, even Hillary is more relevant than he is now. Just be patient, McSame will begin blundering his way through the campaign very soon now and anyone even attempting to accuse Obama verbal slip-ups or intellectual dishonesty is oging to have a hard time being heard.

oging does not = ogling

oging does not = ogling

AmericanUnity,

I could be wrong, but it seems you dislike Bush and think he's not very bright.

You're not wrong. I started out in 2001 giving Bush the benefit of the doubt. But, he's proven himself to be a complete moron incapable of leading the country.

Had Bush been Clinton you righties would have been calling for his head over any one of the plethora of misdoings he's done (not the least of which taking us to war unnecessarily when so many in our own government - military and intelligence - were questioning the intel they touted publicly as an urgent reason).

Those who defend Bush's actions are not very bright themselves, or patriotic to the United States either. You either want what's best for the country (patriotism) or you're loyal to your party's President regardless of the myriad facts that support my disdain as an American citizen for Bush and Cheney.

PS JOE

You righties were still using Bill Clinton as a deflection as recently as this year. He didn't take us to war unnecessarily. In fact, he got lambasted by the GOP over Somalia - a 25,000 troop commitment Bush 41 made December 1991 while promising to have them out by the time Clinton took office. A promise he promptly broke, leaving Clinton with another Bush mess to clean up.

You righties were still using Bill Clinton as a deflection as recently as this year.

Ok same for the lefties then, if you agree that Clinton let you down and abused your vote, the righties should stop using Clinton as a benchmark for performance. Agreed?

Those who defend Bush's actions are not very bright themselves, or patriotic to the United States either. You either want what's best for the country (patriotism) or you're loyal to your party's President regardless of the myriad facts that support my disdain as an American citizen for Bush and Cheney.

POSTED BY AMERICANUNITY

So it's "patriotic" to use Bush as the "bar" to beat? It would seem that wanting "what's best for the country" would require a higher standard if you despise Bush so much. And if you're honest about wanting "what's best for the country" then why do you focus so much on "party" affiliation? It would seem that would be an irrelevant consideration.

What if Iran were to develop nuclear weapons while Obama only was willing to "speak"... would that be a screw up in your mind?

"What will you whiners have to deflect to when he's no longer around?"

Oh, George may be gone by February, but the problems he created or exacerbated will be with us for years to come.

Iraq
The Prescription Drug Bill
The Department of Homeland Security
The Largest Deficits Known to Man Since The Dawn of Time
The Highest % of Annual Spending in History Servicing the Debt
A Tax Code Set to Implode Due to Ignoring the AMT
Further Behind on Alternative Fuels
Oil From $20 a Barrel to $120 a Barrel
Fractured World Relations with Cowboy Diplomacy, Abu Ghraib, etc
Warrantless Wiretaps

...and that's just ten.

Waxman (I shall call him Mini Me) won't touch that with a 100 foot pole. Just like the Clinton scandal it will be "none of our business".

I always try to cut Waxman some slack. He is one of the ugliest people, who has not been deformed or defaced by a trauma, whom I've ever seen. Anyone who lived with that face and flaring nostrils all of his life, and has not sequestered himself in a basement or garret someplace has some character. It's hard to find, but it must be there.

The question is why Obama's "fans" adore him (regardless of Bush's merits or defects).

I read his two books. He's a smart and principled man who was right about the war from the get go.

I respect the hell out of him. He personifies the American dream. Seen any of the reactions from around the world? They're all very happy Obama is the presumptive nominee - our best shot at restoring our badly battered image. Kids here in America are inspired by his candidacy and his life.

18% think America is headed in the right direction. Prepare yourself to say "President Obama".
