The regulatory relationship that Congress has relentlessly sought to impose on the energy sector of the American economy has had deadly effects on the supply of gasoline in the United States. Whether limiting the building of gasoline refineries or banning yet another area of the United States from fossil fuel extraction, the Congress has been quite deliberate for some time in reducing the supply of energy for Americans. But in the chambers of Congress with TV cameras rolling, representatives express shock and dismay that reduced supply in face of growing demand produces higher prices. Perhaps this is some of the reason for Congress' current 15% approval rating.


Ostensibly, the regulatory relationship of the Federal government vigorously promoted by the Congress has protected our natural environment. Sadly, even these benign intentions expressed by Congress are not only misguided but counter productive. In the 1990s, advocates argued that an expensive fuel additive known as MTBE should be added to gasoline to protect the environment. Congress consequently mandated the addititve. It was not long after considerable energy industry cost, that the additive was found to be dangerous to the environment. Who do environmentalists now want to blame for the problem? -- certainly not the ones who adopted the laws requiring the additive.


More broadly the limits on drilling and mining over the past several decades show no indication of reducing the consumption of energy in the United States. Because this is the case, regulations banning domestic extraction have simply increased global pollution by moving these activities to locations with far less deference to environmental protection than the United States. Whether Mexico, Nigeria, or the hundreds of oil tankers leaking across the oceans, the displaced production of fossil fuels has polluted the global environment far more than the impact of extraction here at home.


Our environmental jingoism turns a blind eye to how energy is produced outside the United States. For some reason, outsourcing our energy supplies just makes good common sense for our members of Congress that would not be caught in front of a camera outsourcing anything else.


The Congress is currently debating a bill to massively increase energy taxes on Americans with the promise of reducing global warming. Those taxes will fall disproportionately upon the poor. The deliberately higher energy prices sought by the bill hardly seem like a remedy for an allegedly weak economy. For a brighter American future on energy, Congressional members could help us all by looking less into the bright lights of TV cameras and taking a hard look in the political mirror.

I have heard people state he should have left the church long ago. Well, after Clinton and his interns, everyone should have left the Democratic party. A friend said he read over on MSNBC's political blog that there is speculation that Clinton's campaign said she would concede and then claimed she didn't so that more of her supporters would get mad at the media and go out and vote today. The Clintons have known how to run against the media for a long time now. It wouldn't surprise me if they pulled a fast one in order to garner much needed support by making her supporters outraged. Relying on voter outrage has worked pretty well for them during the campaign.

The Obama crowd are not shy when it comes to manipulating the elcection process with blatant lies, such as "the Hillary withdrawing story." She was apparently winning a massive victory in one of the states at least, so the media which since Watergate has inserted itself as a player in the political process, intervened to prevent or at least mitigate the bad result for Obama.

The mill of the Clintons, it grindeth slow, but it grind exceeding fine. There is no wrath like that of a Clinton scorned. The fat lady hasn't sung yet.

Will the Clintons adopt a scorched earthy policy? "Born to lose, I've lived my life in vain ...," will not be Ms Hillary's swan song. The female of the species is more deadly than the male.

Let's see how the Democrat "Big Tent" holds itself up. Hispanics and "mayates" are at odds with some very real and even deadly antagonisms surfacing between them. The Hispanics are replacing blacks as the nation's largest minority. Women, a significant Democrat constituency, are angry with Obama. Jews fear Obama and his anti-Israel background and anti-Semitic associations. Will they break away? Working people are disenchanted with the elites who mock them and their attachment to guns and religion. Older Americans are grounded in a social order that does not install blacks in positions of superiority. And Southerners ... oh well. West Virginia. West Virginia redux.

I hear that canvas stretching. Will the tent endure? Will the circle of the Democrat community be unbroken.

Oh I am not missing it for anything Murphy. I am hooked. Too bad they don't have a mixed tourniment. I might even sign up to play for that. I want Arizona to Win Myself. If You want a third game Murphy I will root for Texas A & M tonight. Love the game.

Did you catch the little clip from The View today? Whoopi Goldberg, reading from something fresh off the wire, solemnly announces Hillary Clinton will concede tonight. Barbara Walters says, "This mean Barack Obama is the Democratic nominee. . . .." But wait! Whoopi gets handed a statement from the Clinton campaign saying she has not conceded. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

So let me get this straight: You'll condemn one church's rhetoric, despite the fact there are no correlating racist actions, yet you'll give a pass to another church's actions, and all because they didn't promote their actions---the diddling of children---from the pulpit...?!?

McCain is not the brightest bulb on the tree. He has a temper. He's inept. Choosing McClain would be analogous to standing near a cesspool and smelling the stench.

With all of Obama's deficits, choosing Obama would be like diving into the cesspool and drinking and eating the contents.

Obama has even less credibility than Ms Hillary when she related her combat experience.

You wonder why Obama is either so confused or such a pathological and stupid liar. His uncle liberated Auschwitz and sulked for in the attic for months because of what he had seen.
