Last year's killing of Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban chief, most likely by the Special Boat Service, was "a seminal moment in dislocating" their operation in southern Afghanistan, said Brig Carleton-Smith, 44, who has extensive operational experience in Afghanistan and Iraq and has commanded elite Army troops.

Why would the Liberals want to hear that a critical Taliban leader had been killed?

Yeah! They are in their last throws!

I've heard this tale before.....

"I isolated that paragraph because the killing of Mullah Dadullah "

YEAH!

"Mullah Dadullah"

Sounds like just another one of stupid Bush's Nicknames he's famous for bestowing on his Best Buds!

Blah blah blah.... terrorist leader killed.... blah blah blah.... #2 man of AQ killed.....
blah blah blah.

When the Taliban surrenders then I will believe this shit.

Taliban "On Brink Of Defeat"?

This is just now happening?
How does killing the top guy PROVE they're on the brink? That's right-it don't prove a damn thing-it's just more BS from the same Political Party that's made an Artform of bullshitting.

I see.
Thanx fer showing me just desperate you guys are for "good news".....

This just in, "Global warming "scientists"-caught in public restroom at an Airport filing "Oral Reports" with dick cheney and the pRez....film at 11....

BTW if Lil Bush didn't divert our resources from Afghanistan to his private oil war in Iraq, the Taliban could have been defeated years ago.

Oh, but then what boogeyman would he use to scare you good little sheeple into sucking his balls?

How does killing the top guy PROVE they're on the brink?

Read the article... the fractured leadership of the Taliban is just one reason... They've also been pounding on them pretty heavy for a while now.

BTW this isn't from the Pentagon, or even an American, so maybe the cynicism here is a little over the top? maybe?

In case clicking the link is too difficult:

In the past two years an estimated 7,000 Taliban have been killed, the majority in southern and eastern Afghanistan. But it is the "very effective targeted decapitation operations" that have removed "several echelons of commanders".

This is big and very good news...

YEAH!
Go ahead and just say what you want too!

"Its Huuuuge"!

YEAH!

youtube.com

Sorry wobbles...way too much of what he says is unverifiable conjecture-since they're saying it's devolving into an Iraq-style insurgency-what does that mean for us..ANOTHER 100 Years in Afghanistan too?

bwhahahahahaha OMFG Rob is desperate for any supposed "Good News" I just love it. Suck it up Rob You supported a dumb fuck and cretin. Too fucking funny.

Larry Mohr

Larry,

Do you regard this as bad news?

I swear, sometimes you are too much.

If Bush stood in front of a podium and said, "2 plus 2 equals 4." you would declare that he was wrong, simply because Bush said it.

"Do you regard this as bad news?'

Most people do not regard 'wishful thinking' as news.

Do you regard this as bad news?

Bad news for his talking points...

7000 dead taliban in two years, leadership destroyed at several levels, running out of weapons and ammunition...

Forget about Bush Larry... Its possible for our military/coalition to succeed regardless of who the President of the United States is. That's the case in Afghanistan.

Most people do not regard 'wishful thinking' as news.

Perhaps you could refute the points made in the article (you'll probably have to read it first)? If its just wishful thinking then surely you can show each point he makes to be bullshit and prove that we're getting our asses kicked in Afghanistan...

I'll check back later for your reply... I'm sure it will be inspiring...

Sorry jeffy, Bush would come up with 2+2=5

You are probably correct, Itsy.

Dubya could say I was a Genius and I would say He was full of shit. Sorry JeffJ no amount of Bullshit will turn into facts no matter how You slice it.

Larry Mohr

Larry,

My point was that you'll disagree with him 100% of the time about everything. No matter what.

That's a ridiculous stance to take. Hell, even a broken watch is right twice per day.

Tchnically that is even inaccurate JeffJ. If a watch stopped working during daylight saving time it would read what it said during that time frame and would not be accurate during standard time. Say if a watched stopped at 6:00 during daylight saving time You could not state during 6:00 standard time that watch to be accurate.

Trust me Larry nobody not even Bush thinks you are a genious. Butthole yes, dumbfuck yes, crazy yes, dillusional leftwing nutsucker yes, but not genius.

Bee Swell

Seriously, why is this not on the front page? This is coming, not from an Admin official, hell not even an American, but a Coalition general with vast amounts of experience in Afghanistan... He details out many different examples of really good news in Afghanistan.

Why is it so hard for you Liberals to see any form of good news... this story has nothing to do with political affiliation... Its just good news.

Rob-
Maybe it's because the Taliban has been on "the brink of defeat" for eight years, and the Bush people have so politicized everything, and have used "independent military analysts" so much in their propaganda campaigns that no one takes these pronouncements seriously anymore.

But that's just a guess.

**** If Bush stood in front of a podium and said, "2 plus 2 equals 4." you would declare that he was wrong, simply because Bush said it.
Posted by JeffJ *****

......that's just because the odds of Bush being right are so remote......

If Bush said that "2+2=4", a court probably ordered him to say it in 2003.

........the pot calling the kettle black.........

The Taliban will never be defeated until the Saudis begin sending their soldiers into Kandahar to round up all the pigs who partnered with with Bin Laden; and Al Qaida won't be defeated until the Pakis and Saudis and Yemenis all aprtner up with Western forces to isolate, trap and annihilate Bin laden and Zawahiri from their Waziristani lairs.

Until that happens, Bushes carnal soul mates in Araby will profit like Hell from Bush's sham GWOT.

Which explains the Obama mania? BTW... Has Obama even mentioned the Taliban or Afghanistan??

In terms of the presidential election, it also puts to rest the offensive notion that America had no strategy other than "air-raiding villages" and killing civilians. Obama floated that notion last fall, which outraged CENTCOM and NATO. The aggressive strategy and tactics in both theaters instead became the basis of successful counterinsurgency operations, which indicates that Obama should have held a few meetings of his subcommittee before issuing his faulty analysis.

Last year's killing of Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban chief

And yet coalition and afghan death rates continue to rise a year later.

I'm guessing an outbreak of "last throes", as redefined by Deferment Dick.

But of course, the Fighty Rightys have been claiming afghanistan has been a Mission Accomplished for years now.

Crisper...you must admit that a lot of the skepticism about this "good news" is due primarily to this administration's penchant for expediently fudging the facts when the spirit moves them, as well as their neurotic insistence on keeping EVERYTHING secret. George43 and his dad's Machiavellian oil pals lost me long before 9/11. Yes...that gaggle of lame ducks could tell me the sky is blue and I would still see them as pathological liars and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they try to burn the house down (Iran) before they leave in January.

That's how little trust I have in this President and the people surrounding him. Red/Blue...I really don't give a shit who replaces them...George43 & his incompetent posse of ghouls can leave anytime now.

On topic: if the guys running the show in Washington had half the gravitas the job requires, the Taliban would all be taking dirt naps by now. I know a MacGuffin when I see one.
