Joan Kennedy Biddle, who sued the city of Tampa, Florida, this year to collect a $299.58 Civil War-era debt owed to her great-grandfather -- totaling $22 million with interest -- has dropped the suit and agreed to pay the city's attorney's fees of $4,000.

Woman Drops Lawsuit Over Civil War Debt

There is more back story to this

Duh...........

My wife's great grandfather fought in the Civil War. Nobody thought about collecting his pension until one of her cousins did the research and filed a claim, about 5-6 years ago, stating she was the sole descendent. She actually got a nice chunk of change, not to mention the hatred of the rest of the family. About four years later, she fell and hit her head. She's never been right since, so maybe there is a God.

nice story northguy...........I think.
my family owned downtown property in memphis that was given to city ONLY if it was part of fire dept and not long ago they built other city stuff there but lawywers couldnt get it back to us. that entire block is worth several million as it is right in middle of downtown..........maybe I should camp out in lobby and claim squatters rights?????

and so if this woman gets her money, does this help the blacks who want reperations????

My family once owned the major oil land in Russell, Kansas that later had the largest oil strike in western Kansas.

It was sold to the oil folks for $200,000 back then as my dad's family later had to leave during the depression in 1936 to move to Fort Worth where my grand dad took up a post teaching piano after his father's death.

But the Roth Mercantile Store in downtown Russell stood for many years & National Geographic had a picture of it in one of it's issues:>)

My old man used to set off dynomite around Russel Kansas. He worked for a Seizemograph company. Back in the Late 50's.

whats up larry...........up kind of late are we???

damn bani,
I have a similar story. this property I mention in downtown memphis was a cotton mill or gin or whatever and just after 1928, my grandfather put him and hiw wife and his 4 children all in the model a or T maybe and left for houston where he could get a job that paid about 10 bucks a week.
and next thing you know.....kiplinger rates houston as the NUMBER ONE CITY to work and play and live...........and ALL because IM here..........

Dad got promoted from Unit Manager of Toilet Goods division to District Manager of P&G from Omaha to Minneapolis in 1956. Someone in the family has been here every since.

Wait till my Minneapolis based Aunt Vie's stuff from the being the good luck charm to the soldier/diplomats/pilots out of Africa who later help set up "The Balfour Declaration" for the true Money Master's gets online someday...

Maybe Roger might have an interest in helping me get that info out ~ finally?:>)

My grandfather rode the rails with the hobos to escape the dust bowl in Oklahoma during the depression. His mother gave him a silver dollar that she had hidden. He went to San Diego and picked fruit and washed dishes for two years. I have many of the old letters he wrote back home. I also have a menu from a diner that he washed dishes at with well wishes written to him in the sides. Note the menu items and prices on pages one and two. (sardine sandwich?)

Here in Minnesota, some used sawdust for flour back in those bleak days of lore...

Hey I haven't had it that bad but I used to mix ground beef with potato chips to stretch the meat out. They were actually tastier than just regular hamburger.

The poorest time in my life was my first month in Navy School. I moved off base. I spent almost every penny I had on deposit and first rent on a rental house in Ocean Beach, California. I had about 5 dollars left. I bought all the bulk rice I could with it. For over a month I ate nothing but rice and grapfruit from a tree in my yard.

Actually that's an okay alkaline/acid mix...as is potatoe chips & soft boiled eggs.

so is brown rice & grapfruit:>)

Are You Eating Enough Alkaline Foods to Maintain Vital Health?

This chart provides information that shows the contribution of various food substances to the acidifying of body fluids, and ultimately, to the urine, saliva, and blood. In general, it is important to eat a diet that contains foods from both sides of the chart.

Allergic reactions and other forms of stress tend to produce acids in the body. The presence of high acidity indicates that more of your foods should be selected from the alkalizing group.

You may find it useful to check your pH using our Personal pH Test Kit in order to find out if your selection is providing the desired balance.

People vary, but for most,
the ideal diet is 75 percent alkalizing
and 25 percent acidifying
foods by volume.

Maybe you should have read the fucking article Einstein.

Now I know why the school system is failing students.

Joan Kennedy Biddle, who sued the city of Tampa, Florida, ..... has dropped the suit and agreed to pay the city's attorney's fees of $4,000.

A debt created by a municipality within a state that had already declared it was no longer a part of the United States of America.

Might as well try and sue the French Commune for 5 francs owed for a take-out order of brioche and brie.

In your dreams. You wouldn't happen to be Jeff Gannon with a name like "bushlover" would you?

and I bet you are no taller than 5' 9" or so, are you?

Why are you concerned about my physical attributes? Does it tie with your desire for me to bite you hard?

Strange.
