Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Saturday, May 31, 2008

Sen. Barack Obama is leaving Trinity United Church of Christ, his longtime religious home in Chicago and a place that has triggered repeated controversies during his presidential bid. "This is not a decision that I come to lightly, and frankly it's one that I made with some sadness," Obama told reporters in Aberdeen, S.D. "Trinity was where I found Jesus Christ, where we were married, where our children were baptized. We have many friends among the 8,000 congregants."

Now he can go back to worshipping Allah.

It's an epiphany. Now after 20+ years Obama has resigned from Trinity. nopw after 20+ years, he's abandoned his friends and mentors.

This is after the latest firestorm created by hatemongers appearing before an adulating congregation, who support and loudly cheer (on tape), and support the bash-America, bash-whitey, bash-Jews rhetoric that Obama never heard.

I suppose that Michelle will now need to home school or home church her kids so they don't forget the hate-monger lessons that they received at the church for their entire lives. These doctrines need to be iterated and reiterated.

We recognize your sincerity Barack, and that this was not just a political maneuver. Who would be so cynical as to think that this resignation was done for political expediency?

Cook - you're an idiot.

Personally I think he should have done this some time ago but this new priest rant was just too much. Time to go.

To the Cooked Fish and Johnson, Brit, O'Bama could not have done right whether he quit or stayed. It's too bad when politics make one leave one's longtime church simply because its clerics have given voice to unpopular truths. herm

Just think, if he hadn't run for President, Obama could have continued attending this type of enthusiastic Whitey-Bashing Fest in his church of 20 years, the gospel they seem to love best from that pulpit whether it is provided by Rev Wright or by the priest to whom he funneled a quarter-million dollars while in the State House.

Just think, if he hadn't run for President, he would not have kicked the ass of Corky's candidate. Amazing!

I don't know how she could have possibly kicked Obama's ass with your head in the way all the time.

But we may not have seen the last of the whitey hate speech from this pulpit.

Corky, it's not that you're an asshole. It's that you're such a stupid asshole.

With all apologies to Gore. Vidal, that is.

So . . . . you're saying he's lying? Or that he's just squishy?

Either way, he's come a long way from the "I can no longer disavow him before I can disavow my own family" nonsense he was spouting off in his Race Speech Of The Millennium.

god only knows what obama will do next.
i've mixed feelings on digging deep into the corners regarding a politician's religious affiliations.
on one hand, tis the man or woman and not the religion.
on the other, if one worships a magical banana... we have to talk about it. and is there a huge difference between a talking, burning bush and a magical banana?
i am thinking not.
and there is the bush thing... god chose him.
for chrissake, no he didn't.
no god that could make the earth and all that is and then go on to make such a blunder as to put a talking chimp in as the leader of the free world.
then again - perhaps i am not giving god enough credit for having a sense of humor. sort like caligula as a roman emperor without the incest.

all the best.

Ahhhhh a link from the Corkypoos to NoQuarter perhaps the only blog left on the web (that and the big pink) that is living under the delusion that Hillary can win, ya see Corky I have a problem with a link that when the blogmaster of noquarter has to report his OWN posters to the Secret Service for threats against Obama's life.... call me strange, call me Lilbritny, call me Ahab, but when Larry has to report his own posters to the SS, you are grasping at the biggest of straws... How'd you like them RBC apples today Corky?

Do what?? I don't get it LBD. You are confusing Me.

Larry

Sounds like the repubs are pissy that a talking point non-issue has been removed from their fear mongering arsenal. Oh well, you've always got Rezko. Oh wait, there was nothing there either.
Hang on to billy Ayers. He's your only hope.

Do you ninnies ever tire of the politics of character assassination? Ever?

fairweather parishioner...

wonder why he's waiting so long to choose a new church?

BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAH!

Hey Nanc, why don't you invite him to your church?

Obama will speak to this decision later today. My bet is he will attempt to do the same thing he did with Reverend Wright and make it about how the Church has changed recently.

If that is the case then Obama needs to explain how he can change his mind about his church of 20 years when facts on the ground change but is unwilling reevaluate or even visit Iraq or General Petraeus to see how the facts on the ground there have changed!

Is this really the judgment of a leader?

Nanc's pastor:

Yeah Nanc, would that be the -Christian- thing too do?

harsh video and hard to believe that any man of the cloth would stand and say such things from the pulpit.
tis a crazy world.
and there'll be somebody here on the drudge defending him and those like him, odds are.

Why didn't he have direct talks with the church and convince them to stop their unwanted behavior the way he promises to do with America's enemies?

If he can't deal with his own church how will he deal with Iran and the likes?

Looking at the race speech from a few months ago, it's kind of surprising that he dropped out of the church, but at the same time, it isn't.

The Rev. Wright situation came to ahead the second time he opened his mouth saying that Obama agreed with what he was saying behind the scenes. When Obama said the grandmother thing, I don't think he expected Wright to say that. And this second thing was just icing on the cake.

I am sure it sucks for the Obama family though. A church is like a second family. A giant family....

if we were to step back and put this into perspective.
imagine a catholic candidate having to defend that church.
mccain would've had to talk directly in response to the video above had he not (sofltly) denounced him.
mit and his magic underwear are definitely fair game and would've been rinsed clean before the convention.
and another born-again would bring out loads of videos that are just as embarrassing as haages'.

obama made a mistake that only youthful candidates should make.
god will forgive him. (it's what he does)

all the best

Frick Barry, what took you so long?

We recognize your sincerity Barack, and that this was not just a political maneuver. Who would be so cynical as to think that this resignation was done for political expediency? Posted by Johnson at 2008-05-31 08:01 PM | Reply

Really Johnson? A politician doing something for political expediency during an election campaign? Your incredible powers of observation and keen analytical skills are the envy of all. You never see McCain or Clinton do that. Oh, that's right. It only counts when it's a candidate you don't like.

Poor Johnson. His worst, worst nightmare is soon to come to fruition. A nigger president who won't kiss Zionist ass is about to set up his crib in the Oval Office. I am thinking the Rose Garden could be converted to one hell of an outdoor B-ball court. Well, don't fret, just emigrate! I am sure GZLives will help you get an Israeli green card. Shalom.

i don't have a church building. and i highly doubt the obamamama would want to come break bread with my family...just sayin'...we're not the right color.

Ah... Islamophobic AND racist. Jesus must be so proud of you.

who won't kiss Zionist ass
Sad how antisemitism has become so acceptable to the Democrats.

You know this is hilarious. If say Hellary had done this. The Hellaryites would declare this was a smart move. The same goes for the McCainites. But it's blasphamy when Obama does it because they claim He attends a "Racist" Church. Unbelievable if You ask Me.

Larry Mohr

Politics is the Devils Playground.

Larry

From a friend, Jim M., he says:

Interesting. Obama notes that he, his wife and Moss had been discussing this for a few weeks now. Phleger, per the Obama campaign, "left" the campaign a couple of weeks ago.

So, Moss is well aware of Obama's possible departure from Trinity. Phleger is aware that Obama denounced Wright for his racist antics. And Phleger is well aware of other members of the campaign being asked to leave. Yet Moss allows Phleger into the church where Phleger delivers an uninterrupted tirade, in Moss' presence, filled with both racist and sexist comments.

If Moss knew of Obama's concerns, why allow Phleger in to deliver a Jeremiah Wright performance? And knowing that the press is present in the church, why doesn't he attempt to stop him?

And if Phleger knew of Obama's concerns, why would he choose a venue certain to have the media present, to launch into such a divisive screed?

When Obama chose to spend Easter in St. Thomas, it was reported (I think by Pamela Geller) that Wright was staying at the Hyatt there at the same time. It was after Easter that Wright delivered his now infamous remarks that led to the mother of all denouncements. Why would Wright continue to run his mouth when he was certain that (1) they offended Obama and (2) when he knew they would be picked up on the national news?

Wright,Moss and Phleger all knew that their continued pattern of racist behavior would hurt Obama, whom they connsidered their "friend". Did they not care enough about Obama to tone down their rhetoric or limit it to private conversations? Didn't they realize that they had the potential to torpedo Obama's chances for the White House?

Interesting questions. And they beg another question: Was this choreographed by the Obama campaign as a way to preserve the black vote while assuaging the concerns of white voters by exiting Trinity? Perhaps that gives Obama too much credit for forward thinking, but it fits the rather Machiavellian imprimatur of Obama's political career.

The real meat and potatoes:

"...regrets "all the attention that my campaign has visited on" the church. "We had reporters grabbing church bulletins and calling up the sick and the shut-in," he said. "That's just not how people should have to operate in their church...The decision, which will momentarily provoke heavy coverage of an issue the campaign would love to forget, represents an effort by Obama to put a nagging impediment behind him as he heads into head-to-head combat with Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)."

and i highly doubt the obamamama would want to come break bread with my family...just sayin'...we're not the right color

Do you have anything to say of legitimate interest, or is this just the same tired bullshit innuendo?

Obama Resigns from Church

What a shallow piece of shit.

If he had any balls he would have denounced this crap years ago.

If he had any balls he would have made something of himself without the help of race bating losers like Wright and Phlager years ago.

But no, Obama is what he is.

Well, now we know the extent of Obama's ambition. If he is willing to turn his back on his church, he wants the White House real bad.

If Hillary had done this, we'd never hear the last of it from her critics. Obamamaniacs couldn't care less, so long as The Messiah gets elected...

"A politician doing something for political expediency during an election campaign?"

Hasn't Obama been marketed by his campaign and himself as being different then all the other nasty politicians?

hope and change. where have I heard that lately?

Well it appears to me he's not what he and his campaign say he is and/or represents. It appears that's he's no different than Senators Clinton and Mccain with respect to "playing the game".

Everyone can bag on Corky for being a shill for Hillary, but he's right. When that video of Obama's wife comes out there won't be enough aspirin in the world to cure Senator Obama's headache.

And if he'd stayed?

Same people here damning him would be damning him for staying.,

This is tedious.

What's Flipper been up to, lately?

It's the cross you chose to bare.

Chin up.

It's the cross you chose to bare.

Actually it's "bear" (not meaning to take anything away from Jesus who 'bared' it on a cross). Also not meant to be nit picking, I just found that image odd. While I have been leaning towards Obama, I'd hardly put me in any camp except Democratic.

Watching Ickes in the meeting today, I have to say, I've had it with Clinton. I'd still vote for her if she was the candidate.

McCain? I don't think the GOP has a screwdriver big enough to tighten what's loose in his head. That guy's divorced from reality.

why cant we have a nice satan worshiper running this time. I think it would be the less evil choice

Closet Muslim! Closet Muslim!

LOL

as I said earlier, there is talk that a video of michelle obama exists where she is bashing whitey as good as jwright and IF its true, then barrywayne must have been in the audience and I would imagine agreed with her, although we ALL KNOW how wrong women are in MOST cases of just about everything...hee hee
IF it does exists and it comes out next september, obama will be in real trouble.

Oh great BLT is spewing more BULLSHIT lies like usual. Quite typical if You ask Me.

Larry

Don't You think that if this Tape actually existed Hellary would have already played it by now?? If She didn't have access to it and the GOP did wouldn't You think they would have handed it over to Hellary to play against Obama?? I mean they were so ready chomping at the bit to take on Hellary surely they would have helped Her beat Obama if they could. It's rubbish.

Larry Mohr

Maybe his new church will be in & about St. Paul?:>)

quotes of St. Paul

But now remains faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

And if I dole out all my goods, and if I deliver my body that I may boast, but have not love, nothing I am profited. Love never falls in ruins; but whether prophecies, they will be abolished; or tongues, they will cease; or knowledge, it will be superseded.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

"Sir Christopher Wren / Said, `I am going to dine with some men, / If anybody calls / Say I am designing St Paul's.'"

If this Rev. Michael Pfleger rant wasn't orchestrated by Jeremiah Wright, I'll eat my hat.

Wright seems to think he's a one man giant killer.

It took a while to sink in but Obama finally realized that his faith has been misplaced and his church leaders are a bunch of vindictive, small minded bastards who are bent on revenge

Someone once said, "I'd like to buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth."

That would be my opinion of Jeremiah Wright.

The only thing that makes Obama appealing is that McCain scares the hell out of me.

Re Michelle's whitey tape.

I have to agree with Larry. Jeremiah Wright was selling tapes like popcorn. If such a tape exists the media would have it and we'd be watching a continuous loop ala the Jerehiam Wright and Michael Pfleger tapes.

It certainly took him long enough to resign from the church.

Ray. Do you realize that if Clinton became president that the top dems would not be able to control her. With Obama as president he becomes a puppet to the likes of Kennedy, Polosi, Durbin and the top dems. WAKE UP!

Obama resigns from his church. WHAT ABOUT Michele?

OZZIE

Obama is a thoughtful man not given to kneejerk reactions.

That sound like a plus to me.

If I were Obama I'd have resigned from the church. It's the better of two bad options. He's got to put this issue behind him the best he can.

As to LARRY's wondering why Hillary hasn't come forth with a damning "whitey" video - my guess is that IF it exists it'll be used by Reps in the general vs "wasting" it by giving it to Clinton to help Clinton win the nomination.

Since rumors about its existence are floating around wouldn't it be wise for the media to ask Mrs Obama specifically if she's spoken those sorts of words in the church? If she denies it, and the video later comes out, then there's a real problem. If she indicates she has, then she can offer context to try to mitigate things sooner vs later to move past this issue.

But if a tape does surface in, say, October... especially after persistent denials, the results could be devastating to his campaign.

If he had any balls he would have made something of himself without the help of race bating losers like Wright and Phlager years ago.

But no, Obama is what he is.

Yikes, dude. I'm embarassed for you.

This sums it up pretty well:

Well, as far as liberals go, everything is okay now. He gets to start back at "square one". All is forgiven. Now, any comment about his affiliation with any "previous church" will be treated with a shrug and "that's old news. We need to talk about the issues". If he ever becomes President, you better believe the Trinity "church" group will be constantly streaming in and out of the White House.

Yeah, and if the DNC has a video of John McCain stabbing cute little puppies with a rusty pitchfork while Cindy McCain cheers him on, then McCain is toast.

not yet.. wait until september/october.. that will be the continual loop.

Dear Diary,

Today Barack threw our church of 20 years under the bus. That's after he threw our pastor of 20 years under the bus, and after he threw his grandma under the bus. Oh, and those hard-working white people, too. We've run out of room, and need to get another bus. God, I hate Whitey.

Love,

Michelle

The concept of resigning from a church is interesting to me. Where I come from, you want a new church, you go to that church and sit down.

The concept of resigning from a church is interesting to me. Where I come from, you want a new church, you go to that church and sit down.

I withdrew my membership from the Southern Baptist Church I attended. I no longer believed, and thought it was hypocritical of me to remain a member. I thought it was the honorable thing to do. My action was viewed as extremely controversial. I also had no idea that the membership would have to vote and grant me the withdrawal.

What a political slut. If he didn't agree with the church he should have done that 20 years ago.

This church is much closer to the Nation of Islam than it ever was Jesus Christ; besides Jesus had two strikes on him, he was pale and Jewish.

Hold on, hold on tight. The church straw is slippin' away from ya righties.

Just keep praying for infamous, legendary, and thus far non-existent "Michelle hates whitey" tape.

Or you could move on to the issues. Oh, right, you'll lose with that.

Ok. Keep prayin' for that tape.

Sen. Barack Obama is leaving Trinity United Church of Christ,...

Phony, two-faced, insincere political maneuvering? Nah.

Sen. Barack Obama is leaving Trinity United Church of Christ,...

Well timed, politically wise, good for his candidacy and thus the country. Yea.

Well, we should at least give credit where credit is due, and acknowledge that both Jumpin' Jeremiah and Obama are consistent.

Rev Wright is an unapologetic racist grievance monger, and always has been. And Obama is leaving Trinity for the same reason he joined it, twenty-odd years ago, and has until Saturday remained active and faithful: political convenience and opportunism.

So as despicable as Rev Wright is, he's the better man.

Here is the google search hits for MO whitey tape--

Results 1 - 10 of about 6,530 for michelle obama whitey tape

It's amazing that folks here think that Obama has nothing wrong with him as a person or his judgment after his Race speech a month ago and resigning from the church today.

OOh--

The MSM will never ask that question of Michelle--she is the messiah's wife and that would be an attack--just to ask the question mind you.

If there is a tape it won't come out until September/October --after the convention and Obama is the Dem candidate.

It is too toxic for Hillary to release--the MSM and people here on the DR would go into a frenzy of more vitriol and hatred --she can't touch it.

If it is there--don't want to bring it out now when Hillary still has a chance at the nomination. She is the stronger candidate against McCain.

Obama is the weaker candidate by far and this tape--if it exists--blows him out of the water.

Sorry, CC your wrong!

"I think what [decision] Barack Obama made in the past few days is a deeply personal, not political decision," Gibbs said in an exclusive appearance on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos"

blogs.abcnews.com

www.abcnews.go.com

At least with Wright what you see is what you get. He is no phoney guy there. He is dispicable and vile--but true to it all the same.

Unlike Obama who is the invisible man. He just keeps showing us more and more of how much BS he really is.

I think he needs a bigger bus for all the people he throws under it--now its the entire church!

Oh and Wright's book comes out in October--wonder if it gets the hype that Scotty did?

"is a deeply personal, not political decision," Gibbs said

And YOU beleive that tripe!! LOL

If that was true why not do it 5 years ago--10 years ago--15 years ago--how about three months after they attended the church!!!

It's ALL POLITICAL--even Tiger agrees with that!

Man are you stupid. But don't feel bad about it, because most people on this board are pretty dumb. This will be and is a big issue. It will most definetely come up in the general election. The right didn't lose anything. In fact, they may have gained something.

If that was true why not do it 5 years ago--10 years ago--15 years ago--how about three months after they attended the church!!!

Possibly because he valued the services and charity that church provided to the community. Possibly because of the social, business, and political connections it afforded him. And quite possibly that his nourished it desire to deepen his faith through service. Probably for many, many reasons. But now, with the press placing the potentially divisive if not accurate social views expressed by some at the church under a microscope, it does not serve him or the church to stay. And yes, it is obviously politically beneficial to leave.

But the desired or expected outrage the right hopes to see by blowing-up anything controversial said at his church just isn't gonna be elicited. Except from those that would never vote for him anyway.

Tiger,

"Probably for many, many reasons."

But just not the reason that it resonated with him, for its black nationalist, anti-white, anti-Semitic, anti-American message. Obama himself said the choosing of Trinity was not politically motivated.

But just not the reason that it resonated with him, for its black nationalist, anti-white, anti-Semitic, anti-American message.

Andrea your indoctrination appears complete, you may go forth and spread the gospel of talk radio talking points.

The idea that Sen. Obama is worshipped as some type of political savior by his supporters is figment of the right's imagination.

He has my vote because he is the best of the two Dems running and his message of post-partisanship is worth giving a try.

The belief by the right that we hold Sen. Obama in some exalted view is what gives rise to their astonishment at the lack of outrage when his frailties are illuminated.

C'mon yall, he's a politician, and a God Damn good one.

It's surely irrelevant that the Trinity Congregational clergy speaks truth, but an even greater irrelevance that Barney O'Bama or his wife or his mother ever went there. I guess only the Pat Robertson brand of religion carries any political weight. herm

This will be and is a big issue. It will most definetely come up in the general election. The right didn't lose anything. In fact, they may have gained something.

And you're Ok with that? You think its just fine that your party wants us to decide who will lead this country based on some bullshit like this. I tell ya man. It speaks volumes. It is symptomatic of the dumbing down of the electorate. Of the " I wanna a guy I'd throw back a beer with leading the country" type of assininity.

Your daddy lied to you if he's the one that taught you that ignorance is something to be proud of.

thing got a little tough for Obama, so he bails. now that speaks volumes!

Hillary can now say he is doing what she said she would do.

Most married men tend to attend the church their wives want to attend, so maybe it was Mrs. Obama who chose to go to that Trinity Church, not that any of this matters now, but who knows.

"Most married men tend to attend the church their wives want to attend..."

Where did you come up with that idiotic observation?

Man are you stupid. But don't feel bad about it, because most people on this board are pretty dumb. This will be and is a big issue. It will most definetely come up in the general election. The right didn't lose anything. In fact, they may have gained something.

Everwrong calls himself pretty dumb! Wow.. I love this place. Self Retorting Retort Flag!

Hows does one "leave" a church? The whole concept of a church is in your mind.

I too used be worried about finding God in a "church" then I realized God was trying to find me and I relaxed and realized I didn't have to go anywhere!

To Murphy... It is ALL about the Politics isn't it though? Obama can't even begin to do anything about this mess the Rethugs have Created unless he gets elected now can he?

He didn't invent the Game.. he is just learning how to play it really well.

Ask Hillary, I'd bet she'd say he has learned his lessons quite well.

i am not a fan of obama but i am glad he quit the church. everyone should follow suit so we can be rid of them.

Good for Obama, I didn't like him at all at first but I am becoming a fan.

Larry sorry it has taken me so long to reply. The Larry I was referring to is the "bloggod" over at no quarter, he recently told his posters to tone down the Obama death threats and that he had actually reported two of them to the secret service. THAT is the site that Corky was linking to, yeah like I am going to take anything they say as gospel.

When does the Michelle Obama "Whitey" Video come out?

ACLUSUX-
Yeah, I've heard sooo much about this video no one has seen. When does this nail in the angry negro couple's electoral coffin come out?

The idea that Sen. Obama is worshipped as some type of political savior by his supporters is figment of the right's imagination.

This is an excellent point. Those of us who see potential in Obama do not regard him as a savior at all, we merely see him as something different. Knowing what we've had for the last for the last few years (maybe even the last few decades); someone who at least appears different seems appealing.

This idea that Obama is some kind of "Messiah" is a straw man, built up by his opponents because a straw man is, after all, much easier to tear down then the real thing.

What we are witnessing is an orchestrated series of events designed to strip Obama of a chance at winning. The establishment does not like Obama. They see Obama as a threat to their stay-the-course policies, which the married house of Republicrats wishes to continue. For many in Washington, both Dem and Repub, 'more of the same' is just exactly what they'd prefer to continue.

He denounces the previous Pastor, and the next one goes and does some of the same stupid shit. He leaves. No problem there.

He honestly may not have been able to tell right away whether or not Wright had "God Damn America" in him. Perhaps not until it was too late, until he was part of the congregational community, connected to church members he loved. Anyone who believes that Obama hates America is paranoid and/or fruitbag crazy.

This sort of procrastination and equivacation is what we can expect from a big pussy lib like Obama.

The calculating nature of this move is made obvious by asking the one, simple, question that no one in the media has yet even raised by my reading so far: What the hell took you so long, Barry? No one believes the candidate when he says he never heard Wright utter his foul diatribes against America and against white people over 20 years of sitting in the pews at Trinity Church. That doesn't even pass the laugh test. Nor does anyone believe him when he says he was "surprised" at Father Pfleger's rants. Everyone in Chicago is familiar with Pfleger's views on whites and on America. Much more so than Wright, Pfleger has been a fixture on local news and is good for a colorful quote or two whenever the media needs one on race or housing or on the Iraq War.

who won't kiss Zionist ass
Sad how antisemitism has become so acceptable to the Democrats. Posted by EvilDave at 2008-06-01 01:20 AM | Reply

No Dave, actually you are sad. A sad, ignorant person. I guess Obama's failure to worship The AIPAC Throne makes him and all democrats anti-semitic? If I may be so bold, I would feel pretty qualified to debate that Mr. Evil Dave.

Do you want to debate Zionism with me Dave? I'm ready. What do you know on the subject? Know the 19th century roots? Know who Ilan Pappe is? Victor Ostrovsky? Norman Finkelstein? Mordechai Vanunu? U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander James M. Ennes, Jr.? Wrote something about an attacked Navy ship named the U.S.S. Liberty. Conspiracy theory Dave? He was on the ship. Gotta love them first-hand accounts Dave, eh? How about The Lavon Affair (aka Operation Susannah) Dave? Surely you have heard of that Dave? No conspiracy theory there Dave either. Caught red-handed, Israel had to publicly admit they commited a terrorist attack against the United States. Can you fathom that Dave? Can you fathom that Israel commited a terorist attack against the USA, and had to admit it? Yes, of course such a well-informed person such as you knew of this case. Mearsheimer and Walt? Something about AIPAC. Ring a bell? Gee Dave. I do a little research now and then. And get this, I read books, lots of them. I spend a lot of time (and money) as I feel it is my patriotic duty to be politically informed. Not rocket science, just an investment of time and effort. Do you have knowledge of Zionism and politics in The Middle East Dave? Ever hear of a place called Deir Yassin Dave. What did the Irgun do there Dave? Surely, you know all about who bombed the King David Hotel. The Stern Gang ring a bell for ya' Dave?

Do you like to drop the "anti-semite" bomb Dave? Do you think it fazes me when you talk out of your ass Dave? Do "democrats = anti-semites" Dave? Is your world that simple? Am I a democrat? Funny, thought I registered as an Independent. But I'd better double check since you apparently know something. Go do some homework Dave, I've given you plenty to get you started. ISBNs? Just let me know. And OBTW, I mentioned quite a few Jews as resources above. Always makes it easier for me to make a fool of someone like you Dave. Are they "anti-semites" too, or just "self-hating Jews"?

The only thing that makes Obama appealing is that McCain scares the hell out of me.

Absolutely!

damn do you ever miss one of the points with this.
look at a connection that all of these people have..........louie farrakhan...........a real danger to america and if you cant see that, there is little more I can say.
even this priest has talked about how great the antisemitic..HATEFILLED louie is.......
and the new minister at trinity who barrywayne Hussein praised had nothing but good things to say about ALL of these racists, class warfare mongering religious assassins.

and how does this relate to obama? he was for 20 years and remains today linked to each one of them for several reasons and we DESERVE TO KNOW HOW even though the obamamanics dont want us to EVEN ASK.

oh yeah one more time...........what IF that video exists of michelle obama mama...........screaming about the evil white man........would THAT make some of you wonder about this great messiah that you have linked your dream of returning to power with?????

Obama was in a lose-lose situation.

First and foremost, he has sold himself as 'different' - hope, change and unity. Intertwined within all of that was an aura of integrity and above all else, race neutrality.

Then Rev. Wright and his church exploded to the forefront. Now, had this been the church of Jackson or Sharpton it wouldn't have affected them at all. If anything, it would've solidified who they are. Not so for Obama. Obama is supposed to be above all of this.

So, Obama was faced with 2 losing propositions:

1. Remain loyal to his church (this is probably what he wanted to do) and take the guilt-by-association punches as they come.

2. Leave his church which is ultimately expedient politically - he has plenty of time to distance himself from this. That said, he had to give the proverbial finger to an awful lot of people in the process and he had to lower his personal ethical standards by selecting expediency over loyalty.

All in all, he probably made the right choice. However in doing so he further exposes himself as a politician, just like his competition.

My question is this...
If he's just like every other politician, what makes him more qualified for POTUS than Clinton or McCain?

A flashy smile?

Feel-good rhetoric?

3 years in the Senate?

Big ears?

??????

I don't believe such a tape exists.

But IF it did, I don't see how either Hillary or McCain would benefit from it since the white vote is already secured for either of these two.

In fact, IF the tape exists, the only beneficiary I see is Obama's new nemesis and self-annointed giant killer . . . Jeremiah Wright.

Big ears?

Asked (by a reporter) if he (Obama) ever envisioned himself carved into the mountain (Mt. Rushmore), he responded -- quote -- "I don't think my ears would fit. There's only so much rock up there."

That's all I've been asking from the beginning.

A figment of the right's imagination? Please explain what else it could be? A virtual no name is pimped by the dems at the 2004 convention. Going after the minority and youth vote. Gives a rousing speech and four years later is the nominee?? I think savior is right as rain. Ambition over talent?

It is almost comical the Dems 180 turn from 2004. Parading out Kerry and the 'reporting for duty' theme. Fooling people into thinking he was a hawk to counter the Repubs security angle. Now a inexperienced, non serving Jr. Senator elected under questionable circumstances? Going up against a established Senator who four years ago was talked about being the VP for a Dem?????

"A figment of the right's imagination? Please explain what else it could be?"

Horse shit?

I think donkey shit is more fitting. Seeng as he is a Dem.

"...someone who at least appears different seems appealing."

That's a thin reed to hang your vote on.

That's a thin reed to hang your vote on.

After 7 years of Bush's "beans and franks", a change to McCain's "franks and beans" isn't enough.

It is interesting that you used the term horse shit as Obama's skin has a very similar color.

I wish there was a troll flag.

I'd go along with the Hagbard-ing.... there's a fair amount of the time I'm trying to push a posters buttons (though always SUBSTANTIVELY!! LOL)

I think Danni deserves fairer treatment.

there was a while when the O.C. was giving san fran a run for its money in the good lsd competition, oh my fried one.

Tim--are you kidding?

Being prickly aren't you?

I mean the color of most all shit is the color it is--donkey shit, horse shit, bull shit, horse manure...

But horses come in all kinds of colors--counting the Wizard of Oz horses...

Lighten up dude...

As for Obama and his church--please read--Obama's heart and soul is with this church and the ideals it puts out for consumption.

The BLT is on the Crispy side. Those guys understand the function of a church no better than they understand socialism, marxism or reproductive rights. It's sad that candidates are pushed into a notion that mainstream protestantism's wishy-washy avoidance of social issues is what the dude on the cross had in mind two thousand years ago. There's truth at Trinity, other Congregational and Unitarian churches, as well as more theologically conservative ones that still dig the social gospel.

O'Bama caves in to a notion that voters want you to go to some middle of the road temple that preaches nothing on Sunday mornings but ya gotta have faith. It's truly sad to have to play that game. herm

True. Just like any other pol, he has no problem with integrity and electability being mutually exclusive notions.

That church got thrown under the same bus as his granny.
No prob. Next.

I don't understand why white people can't belong to a chocolTE CHURCH

Obama should have quit many years ago.

Hillary should have divorced him many years ago.

Strange people stick to things they should have left. There has to be a reason.

A question for you.

If someone was saying that Obama was a muslim, would you correct them with FACT or would you let them go on spewing shit?

What was so bad about what the white preacher said?

Maybe my sensitivities have been deaden but I don't see why he could not ride this one out.

20 years too late and much too weak.

Obama is what he is,a ass hole!

It obviously won't matter where the O'Bamas attend church except to uglies emerging from the woodwork who'll badmouth him no matter what. My advice would be to ignore a rigid right that hasn't been able to find anything negative that sticks, and just go on to beat the shit out of the Republican in November. herm

Look at their denials, the lying, and affiliations. Mr. Wright's attitude was new to Obama ... he had never heard this from his "pastor" of 20 years. Yes they are racist and YES Obama, Michelle and the liberal media "Hope" America is this stupid.

Obama was raised by a White mom and Whate grandparents as he said. His dad like most Black dads took off when Barack was 2 years old. Obama attended private schools and then on to the Ivy league. He probably never met anyone black until he got to college. He was raused White, acted White, he was basically a White guy. He reminds me of many of my fraternity brothers.

One of those Ivy League commie professors saw some potential in Obama and told Barrack to go to the South side of Chicago to learn to be a commie Black man. Obama learned from Rev Wright and fellow South side Chicago radicals like William Ayers how to act like a real African American: Blame the White man and America for everything. The brain-washing has not been completed yet though, obviously. He has potential if he remains essentially a White man.

My advice would be to ignore a rigid right that hasn't been able to find anything negative that sticks,...

So far.

That's what I'm afraid of. The McCain camp isn't about to unload their ammo now. They're just bidding their time. Hannity and even a few of the local right wing radio shows all keep "hinting" there is more to come. They probably don't know what it is for sure themselves but there's enough gossip coming down the GOPipeline we've got more Obama surprises in store. Maybe they're just throwing fake punches to unsettle the Dems but then who knows.

FWTHOM do you actually sit around thinking this shit up? I hope not. Somehow in this case it would be less pathetic if you were simply parroting ridiculous fringe right wing talking points.

bidding time = biding time
