AP analysis: Unlike Hillary Rodham Clinton, rival Barack Obama planned for the long haul. Clinton hinged her whole campaign on an early knockout blow on Super Tuesday, while Obama's staff researched congressional districts in states with primaries that were months away. What they found were opportunities to win delegates, even in states they would eventually lose.

"The reason they look so good is because Obama was so good."

Pretty much.

And Hillary had old hands like Ann Lewis, Howard Wolfson and above all (aside from the disastrous Mark Penn) Harold Ickes, one of the greatest losers ever, running the show.

What this portended for a Hillary administration was enough to make thinking people reconsider her and look hard for an alternative, even before there was one.

We are indeed fortunate now.

Play by the rules You win. You try and cheat You lose. FINALLY I hope it happens this time around as well.

I can't understand why Obama shrewdly playing by the rules is somehow seen as underhanded by some people, when Clinton's attempt to change the rules after the fact is considered righteous.

Michigan and Florida knew when they scheduled their primaries that they were breaking the rules. They were told weeks in advance that their delegates wouldn't be seated. Clinton supported this before the election.

Now, since she needs the delegates, she wants to claim that it was unfair. Can anyone doubt that if the situation were reversed, Clintonites would be slamming Obama as a poor loser? I'm sorry, I don't think this reflects well on her.

And I'm sick of the "electability" argument. The General is six months away, todays polls are meaningless. "Electability" is nothing more than Monday morning quarterbacking and wishful thinking, no one knows what will happen between now and then, regardless of who the candidate is.

Clever devil, that Obama, and backed by Wall Street, which is not into bringing much change. If he turns on them, things would get interesting.

Every candidate is determined to keep the borders open. Its a globalization thing planned by those rich enough to have international impact, Rothchilds, Rockefeller, Carlyle... all our finest intellectuals are on board.

Bill balanced the budget (a conservative thing).

But, Bush will attack Iran, delivering ALL rednecks to McCain. The stupids will shape our future and restore Democracy.

I don't think this was all that smart--

The flip side is that HRC thought this would be over by Feb 5th and that was a serious miscalculation.

In order to win for the Dem Party you have to have a caucus strategy and HRC had none.

Wait to see if HRC bows out next week--

Kinda' doubt it--she may stay in all the way.

She stands to lose 20 million of her own money if she doesn't recoup it by the convention.

The Obama crew was young -- at least in spirit -- and hungry. The Clintonistas were old -- at least in spirit -- fat (from feasting at the trough for too long) and lazy (a condition brought about by hubris). And they got their asses kicked. Oh, sure, it's close in delegate count, but, keeriest, when Hillary announced it was supposed to be a coronation.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to,
cry if I want to, cry if I want to.
You would cry too if it happened to you.

........Obama won fair and square.......

it doesnt take much to make the smartest woman in the world appear dumb

Clinton has been planning this campaign for at least 8 years. She had name recognition second to none, an extensive base of donors and supporters, as well as all the favors and deals made from her husband's term. She still came up short.

There's nothing unfair about any of this. It's politics. No one is "owed" the nomination. It's never anyone's "turn" to be president. Obama outcampaigned her, plain and simple. Both sides launched a few low blows, but overall it's been a relatively clean campaign. She lost fair and square.

Getting more delegates allocated for black votes than white votes is not fair. It is simply the biproduct of a party who is obsessed with race.

The democrat system awards higher numbers of delegates to districts with higher concentration of democrat voters. Since blacks vote overwhelmingly democratic and live in heavy concentrations this gave Obama more delegates proportionally than he had voters as a percentage.

Hey, but go on telling yourself it was fair!

SEE YOU IN DENVER!!!

It's "Over"

1/2 votes for both Florida and Michigan delegates passes.

Even liberal dems were tired of the Clintons and if Obama had not been the "flash in the pan", Edwards would have won.

you mean like in chicago in the 1996 election.

Experience...vs....Intelligenc e.

Obama Used Party Rules to Foil Clinton

Well, he can't win any other way.

What a self respecting dem to do?

The Sixities no longer matter. The front end of the baby boom has given way to the back end of the boom. The older boomers beat the WWII generation, they got two Presidents out it. The conservatives had W and the liberals had Bill. Now their younger siblings are going to take over. The older boomers are just waking up to the fact that their time may well be drawing to a close.

"The Sixities no longer matter."

Not true.

Without the Sixties, there'd be no Obama.
