Drudge Retort: Red Meat for Yellow Dogs
Thursday, May 29, 2008

Former White House press secretary Scott McClellan today strongly defended his critical new book on the Bush administration, saying he became "disillusioned" as he realized he was a pawn in a larger political game. "The White House would prefer I not speak out openly and honestly about my experiences, but I believe there is a larger purpose," McClellan said in his first interview since the book's contents were reported earlier this week. "I had all this great hope that we were going to come to Washington and change it. Then we got to Washington, and I think we got caught up in playing the Washington game the way it is being played today."

What was the point of having me read THAT?

motive? how about truth? I havent heard anyone in the admin claim that scotty mis-remembered

But the Bush Crime Family is immune from prosecution for treason. Starting a War based on fraud, loading $9 billions of dollars on C140s only to have it "disappear", vote tampering, illegal arms and drug trafficking, collusion in S&L fraud for a free house in Denver, dumping $850 million in subprime loans on Florida State Employees Pension Fund for a kickback from Lehman Brothers, even conspiracy to overthrow Roosevelt in an armed coup, all illegal, all unpunished. Power equates to privilege in our kleptocracy.

May 29, 2008

Today Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL) called for former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to appear before the House Judiciary Committee to testify under oath regarding the devastating revelations made in his new book on the Bush Administration's deliberate efforts to mislead the American people into the Iraq War.

This should be interesting.

He grew a pair.

This should be interesting.

Posted by Twinpac

Like his online petition to impeach Cheney...

Wexler is a tool... nothing will come from this.

Maybe the guy felt guilty about not speaking out and being a willing participant of this fraud we call the Bush Administration that now he is ratting everybody out.

Simple.

I updated this post with a meatier story from the Post. As for ManyPaths' question, the reason to care is that we're finally seeing a few cracks in the Wall of Bullshit that has shielded this administration from scrutiny.

Secret prisons...awesome. Torture and abuse at gitmo...perfect. Cluster bombs...make more, drop more. Killing militants with excessive ordinance...good stuff.
9 billion dollars in cash missing without an explanation...unfathomable.

Why the fuck hasn't anyone been able to pin an admin official down (or a general) and ask them where in the hell that cash is?

Since WHEN is speaking TRUTH a sign of being disgruntled?

What happened to Scott happened to many of us: We gave Bush the benefit of the doubt on many questionable operations.

Now we know what a liar-in-chief Bush was and Scott was in a great position to confirm what really happened.

McClellan got hosed during the Plame silliness... natural he's a little pissed and wanted to smack them back.

What was that story about 6 months ago regarding the 3 phases of Conservatives?

It was in regards to 3 things Conservative Republicans could be, but they couldn't be all 3 at once.

Honesty was one of them.

Anyone remember the 3?

What ever it was, we are seeing it unfold right before our very eyes on this story.

I need some help. What was that story? I would like to share it with the class again.

Robert Nostril Wexman could there be a more sickening figure on capital hill. Its time to target his sorry ass for defeat this November.

Bee Swell

"Its time to target his sorry ass for defeat this November."

Good luck with that. He's very popular and we're proud of him down here in Florida.

"McClellan got hosed during the Plame silliness."

Rob's description of treason is "silliness."

Looks like McClellan realized that he was either part of the cover-up of treason or part of the revelation...he finally (way too late) chose revelation....predictably as a Republican....only when there was $$$ in it for himself.

Again an again the Administration apologist are complaining about the book not about the FACTS. The usual responce from the Criminals in this Administration. Kill the messenger, make enough noise that the Facts are History.....Scott McClellan came to the Facts late but he had the courage to tell the truth as he saw it, compare that to the hacks on the right who now see him as a TRAITOR.

The Right doesn't need to hear the truth, they have their own truth. Facts sometimes get in the way of that but of course they want their version of the truth even if it conflicts with the FACTS!!!

This Administration is getting peeled like an Onion, an much to the horror of the Right, the World an we here in America are seeing a picture of incompetence that may lead to Criminal activities an nobody can be happy as to what they are seeing....WHAT A NATIONAL DISGRACE!!!!!

Celisary is fucking crazy

First surprise, then anger, then denial - then healing for poor GeeDubyah - at least they have their coordinated message in order

Perino said. "For those of us who fully supported him, before, during and after he was press secretary, we are puzzled. It is sad. This is not the Scott we knew."

"All I will say is that there is an enormous amount of disappointment among those who are closest to Scott," Bartlett said. "This is not the Scott we knew. Maybe that is our fault, maybe this is a new Scott. It's almost like an out-of-body experience, quite frankly." - Dan Bartlett

"He (Bush)doesn't recognize this as the Scott McClellan that he hired and confided in and worked with for so many years," Dana Perino

Fleischer said. "It comes from the last person that anyone would have thought would have said these things or written these things."

Hitler Aides "Puzzled," "Saddened" by von Stauffenberg Assassination Attempt

Wolf's Lair, Prussia, July 21, 1944 -- "This isn't the Claus von Stauffenberg I knew," said puzzled SS Reichsfuhrer Heinrich Himmler about today's unsuccessful assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler, echoing sentiments heard across the Nazi high command.

Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels was equally perplexed. "If Claus disagreed with the Fuhrer, why didn't he say something?" said Goebbels. "He had plenty of opportunities to speak up."

Rob's description of treason is "silliness."

treason? People have been charged with treason? Was anyone even charged with a crime regarding what actually happened, not just some idiot who lied about to investigators.

so cometh the talking points

Irony is a bitch sometimes.

crime was committed, is it provable in a court of law? difficult to impossible with the players lying to the grand jury.

Of course nothing will come of it. I'm not expecting impeachment. But maybe the public will be a little better informed and think twice before they vote for Bush's clone in November.

How about the law was written in such a vague and nonspecific way that people were able to release her name and profession, but not break the law at the same time?

Hypothetical conversation between Armitage and a reporter: "Why did the admin send Wilson to Niger?" "His wife recommended he go." "Who is his wife?" "Her name is Valerie Plame, she works for the CIA." Bam! Name and profession outed, but done so in a way that wasn't intending to hurt her or him, just in the process of answering questions... and that wouldn't have broken the law.

Can't wait for the mini-series..

Its a crime to wiretap citizens without court approval

Its a crime to hold people indefinitely without trial

Its a crime to order torture that violates Geneva conventions

Its a crime to consciously lead a nation into war based on lies

Administration officials just claim Executive Privelege or refuse to respond to subpoena and then the Justice Dept. refuses to enforce subpoenas.
How can Congress investigate without the power to force testimony???
When we get an honest Attorney General we will be able to investigate more effectively.

We shall see about that after Bush has left office and is no longer protected by and no longer hides behind "Executive Privilege" now won't we?

There will be a post Bush era where we sort through all the lies this after he has left office. The facts will continued to come to light for years and I expect charges will eventually be brought against someone and court cases will drag on for years.

This is too great a crime to go unpunished except maybe in your world Rob.

In your dreams.

"This is too great a crime to go unpunished except maybe in your world Rob."

I totally agree but watch as Bush pardons himself and all his administration and then the Dems don't do anything anyway after they get the power.
They won't want to "traumatize" America which will really mean a deal will be made between incoming and outgoing administrations, we will let them off the hook if they don't blow up the world before they leave office.
They'll just say...."bomb, bomb, bomb, let's bomb Iran"
I think that threat is being positioned as a bargaining chip for the outgoing administration and McBush is too stupid to realize it.

What else could we have paid them in? Would have looked a little obvious had we pconverted 9 billion to euros just to pay bribes and "other" things.

Signed,

Thank God that the election is just months away and that in less than a year Obama will take office and the government will stop all this kind of stuff. They will become completely transparent. No monies will be un-accounted for.

If anyone believes that anything will be any different I fear you are sadly mistaken. Cripe, look at the Dems in 2006, vote for us, vote for change... Has anything changed? All these people are bought and paid for by the same people.

Yep, Bushco rule #1...always shoot the messenger.

"All these people are bought and paid for by the same people."

When there is no defense just say everyone does it. Republican bull crap.

"Signed,

Judas McClellan"

I am laughing at Murphy's pathetic attempt to blame the messenger....as always. No anger at the people who lied us into a war, outed an uncercover CIA agent, who caused the deaths of thousands of AMericans....no pathetic right wing tools just whine about what a tattle tale McClellan is.

UnAmerican if you ask me. Any patriotic American would care more about the crimes committed than about how we learned of the crimes.

Danni,

Do you really think things will be different if a Dem is president?

Do you believe that they will be transparent and there will be no cover-ups or monies that go un-accounted for?

Do you believe that the $$ that come from lobbyists will stop once the dems are in power?

Sure they may vote differently, but they do not behave any differently.

You are simply wrong Sawdust. Even Clinton who isn't exactly a choir boy didn't do the things that these criminals have done. The opinion you voice is simply an attempt to excuse the Bush criminals by pretending all administrations are as corrupt, it's dishonest and it's baloney.

Sawdust after 8 years in power it just gets bad. My hope is a Dem prez and Dem congress the first to years to balance the budget and then a repub congress to hold the Dem press accountable. It worked in the late 90's.....

to=two

"It worked in the late 90's....."

Oh yeah....it worked to investigate a blow job....nothing else was accomplished....there is much to do and Republicans are owned and operated by the large corporations and will not do anything for the AMerican people.

Yes, I see this country swinging wildly to the left over the next 6 years and a move back to the right as the Republicans gain some credibility and power back, but it is going to take at least 6 years and a lot of "Hard Wurk".

I agree, I am frustrated with Bush and the Repubs. Hey, they were supposed to be different. That is what they ran on. Cripe that is what McClellan is saying made him turn. He came there to clean things up and found that they were just as bad.

I am not excusing Bush or the Repubs, I am simply stating my belief that the Dems will behave no differently.

I am as frustrated as anybody with how things are going. This war could have been avoided. We could be a lot further on our way to energy independance. We could be working out way out of the problems with Social Security, etc. But the incompetence of Bush and the Repubs has kept us from doing so. Now we will give it over to the dems.

My belief is that after the election, they will own the gov. Then they will need to put up or shut up. Time will tell.

Rob will never get it. He lives in delusions of grandior. Typical of Him I am afraid.

But Republicans are corrupt before they even are elected. Maybe elect some Greens or Libertarians.

I am with you on the Libertarians, not the Greens. I like my freedoms. I want lower taxes. I do not see the Greens giving me that.

Again, I believe the Dems will have their chance come this fall. If they are in control of the gov they can run it the way they want, no excuses.

We can see where that leaves us. Then we vote again.

"no excuses."

If they get the WH and both houses of Congress then you are right...no excuses. Do you really think he made all that up just to throw all chances of immense future earnings away?

I realize he'll make a lot off this book, but it's nothing compared to what he could have made in the private sector if he'd kept Bush's lies a secret.

FORMER BUSH AIDE: McCLELLAN IS GETTING RIPPED FOR TELLING THE TRUTH
. . .
One former Bush aide [Mike Turk, served as eCampaign director for Bush's 2004 reelection campaign], however, is sticking up for McClellan, arguing that the former Bush press secretary is "getting savaged for saying what everyone knows to be true."
www.huffingtonpost.com

Once again the Fucking Assholes at Fox News have shown the thinking World how stupid they are. They have been the network of defaming Scott McClellan for the past 24 hours, which in itself is O.K. But to charge him for being disloyal to the President is laughable. Remember this Network hired Dick Morris, for no other reason than he once worked for Pres. Clinton an now has turned on the ex-President. If there are truly Fair an Balanced how long before they Hire Scott McClellan, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA, that my friends is the true meaning of the word, "ASSHOLES"......

They have been the network of defaming Scott McClellan for the past 24 hours

How would you know there isn't another network defaming him?

You have to change the channel in order to know that and you obviously haven't.

What do You expect out f the Right winged nutbars Doc Sarvis?? I mean really they can never face the truth when it's slapped across their proverbial faces. Just like Dubya's lies about the Second war with Iraq Bush 41 also told mega whoppers to garner support for His Iraq War. Incubators anyone also the 250 thousand troops amassed on the Saudi Arabian order. What utter and complete poppycock.

Larry Mohr

I bet there will be many more 'Mike Turks' before this is over.. the best is yet to come.. this administration has a lot more holes in it than their predecessors..

If I were Mr. McClellan, I would pass on using air travel for a while.

I also remember reading a little blurb at Wonkette some time ago that Mssr. Gannon is rumored to be working feverishly on a big pay-day tell-all, ostensibly for post-election publication. All this lucrative literary blood letting will undoubtedly ring the dinner bell of all those tap-dancing sharks looking to cover their butts with 300 or so pages of the Bart Simpson Defense.

McClellan would only have to worry if he had been with the Clintons. Note all the dead bodies around that couple.

Common--that's the problem with Scotty--he had no job no offers no nothing--he is disgruntled

Do you think that a man with such integrity such goodness--such such--would stay in a job that required him to lie?

He was the worse press secretary--Rcade would agree--he was the worse.

""OHHHH Rove and Libby had a meeting!!""

Well no shit Sherlock!

I hope he does go to the hill and in front of Congress so he can explain he saw nothing, heard nothing, and in fact, is nothing, but a Judas.

With friends like him who needs enemies.

He was so grateful and then flipped--Hey maybe they will hire him at Air America!

Goodness knows he is such a great speaker!

LOL!

Murphy

Isn't McClellen fighting cancer? Maybe he got religion. Maybe he has a guilty conscience. Maybe he wants to get right with Jesus. Maybe he just wants to make a lot of money.
I hope he does. That will encourage other weasels in the administration to roll over on the traitor-in-chief.

It's amazing that someone from the Bush administration has shown any sign of having a conscience.

"EBERLY".....I am a News Junkie an a Political one at that, so yes every Channel is discussing the Scott McClellan book, all of them NBC,CBS, CNN, MSBNC an Yes Fox, the difference is that all of the other Networks actually have people on both sides of the issue. Those that praised McClellan an those who think of him as a Traitor.

Fox News as usual is carring the water for this Administration and the Republician Party. Name me one person that has defended McClellan on Fox just one. Even the so called Democrats that they have found disagree with what he has done. "FAIR AND BALANCED", WHAT A FUCKING JOKE!!!!!

"EBERLY"...Just another note unless you have more to offer don't go after me, my plate is full trying to educate the other fucking Ignorant Right Wing Bastards on this website.

"They won't want to "traumatize" America which will really mean a deal will be made between incoming and outgoing administrations, we will let them off the hook if they don't blow up the world before they leave office."

Sadly, there's probably some truth to this. As much as I admire Gerald Ford's conduct in the wake of Nixon's resignation, I do feel that his decision to pardon Nixon was wrong, though I also feel that Ford was honest and considered in his belief that prosecution of Nixon was too painful for America to deal with.

Had Ford declined to pardon Nixon, and had prosecutions gone forward, I think we might not be in this mess with Bush today. In the wake of Watergate, America's politicians needed a very clear, unmistakable signal that there's a limit, and if you go past it, you are liable for your transgressions- no matter who you are or what office you hold.

Sadly, we don't have a Nixon-era precedent holding people like Bush back. Again, Ford was a decent man (and I don't often say that about Republicans), and he meant well. But his decision to pardon left matters the way they'd always been- the integrity of our highest offices is largely in the hands of the individuals holding those offices, and as we've been painfully reminded these past seven-and-a-half years, that sometimes isn't enough.

Despite McClellan criticism, network anchors still refuses to re-evaluate their own complicity

Although Scott McClellan's memoir is chock full of juicy bits about George Bush, Karl Rove, Scooter Libby and the myriad pre-war lies the White House force-fed America, perhaps the most important (and most overlooked) critique McClellan levels is aimed squarely at the "liberal media" and how they acted as "deferential, complicit enablers" of the administration's "propaganda" leading up to the war. On the TODAY show this morning, Matt Lauer asked "the big three" -- Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and Katie Couric -- whether they thought McClellan was accurate in his criticism of the press. Their answers are revealing to say the least:

www.crooksandliars.com

Had Ford declined to pardon Nixon

he wouldn't have been President.

& apparently Ford had qualms endorsing Lee Harvey Oswald as the lone gunman as well...

That will encourage other weasels in the administration to roll over on the traitor-in-chief.
Posted by igmoramus

Unless those "weasels" are in on "it" as well.
See these "weasels" serve in "advisory" positions, so they can exist with each administration, while the POTUS takes the blame.

However, nothing changes (policy-wise), because the "advisors=weasels" stay the same behind the scenes, regardless of who is POTUS.

When I think of weasels some individuals come to mind.

Dual-citizenship is the cause of our ills.

northguy:

Nixon resigned in the face of nearly certain impeachment if he did not, which would have cleared the way for a civil trial.

I do understand that a deal was probably cut before Nixon left office, but I also think that as a sitting Vice-President, Ford was not obliged to cut it.

Dual-citizenship is the cause of our ills.

Any employee can get in trouble for personal blogging on company time, but U.S. government workers, as one NASA employee has discovered, can get into a special kind of legal trouble if they also write about politics. They risk violating a 1939 law called the Hatch Act, which requires federal employees to keep their jobs and political activities separate.

The whole argument about whether he's a traitor is specious. HE DID THIS TO MAKE MONEY... Period.

There's nothing whatsoever honorable about trashing your former employer in order to make money. Whether your name is McClellan or Dick Morris..

It shows a lack of integrity.

Why is any of this a suprise. McClellan is only telling what most people (that includes repubs) already know. The fact that he was an insider validates what we already know. Rove and Libby outed Valerie Plame. There were no weapons of mass destruction.

What I would like to see is a tell all book from Pelosi. Like who bought her off and how much did it cost, and why impeachment is off the table.

Absolutely! & before we nuke Iran ~ if possible!

Dick Armitage outed Plame. Scotty says Rove and Libby had a meeting--BFD! What a dunderhead.

And McClellan grips that Bush "leaked the NIE" and says he was doing what other leakers were doing.

I know this may sound bizarro in the mescaline world of Scotty--but Bush declassified the NIE.

It wasn't a leak! You can't have a leak when you declassify a report and give to the press to publish.

The man is seriously on something.

We can all agree that Iraq may have been a mistake and certainly have more agreement that the management of the war was horrbile for the last 5 years- --(before the surge) -that's what we get for putting a gov't in place instead of letting the Iraqis run themselves like how Afghanistan was set up.

But here is a guy who was with Bush 10 years? or more?

Savage is proposing that if Obama gets into the WH and the leftist marxists get in there with him--there may be a war trial. So folks are scared and stabbing Bush in the back so they can't be on trial with Bush.

Murphy-
re: "I know this may sound bizarro in the mescaline world of Scotty--but Bush declassified the NIE.

It wasn't a leak! You can't have a leak when you declassify a report and give to the press to publish."

Murphy, Bush SECRETLY declassified PORTIONS of it and had his henchmen feed it to the press ANONYMOUSLY.

re: "Scotty says Rove and Libby had a meeting--BFD! What a dunderhead."

"Scotty" also said that both Rove and Libby assured him that they had nothing to do with leaking her identity, and then sent him out to repeat what we know know was a lie.

Murphy are you an idiot? The report Bush declassified did not give permission to out a covert agent (declassification does not supercede law). thats why everyone at the WH LIED. Libby even got convicted of not teling the truth to investigators. It was a vindictive manuever involving a persons wife that disagreed with the administration. Next they will hold children hostage to get the parents to recant. I feel like we live in Zimbabwe with agovernment that can control elections and actually convince idiots they had nothing to do with anything.

"Murphy are you an idiot? "

Like asking one would get a reasonable answer.
-muon's neutrinos

Murphy being an idiot is rhetorical. just look at the posts he makes. You would think he was an insider closer to Bush than McClellan with the crap he spews.

Armitage outed Plame.

Neut--

There are two subjects that Scotty talked about--

1) The NIE report did not have anything to do with Plame--The NIE was declassified by the WH. Scotty said in his interview with someone that he was disallusioned about the WH "leaking" the NIE report.

Do you understand that you cannot have a leak of something that becomes DECLASSIFIED?

Again on the Plame shit--they did not out her--she was outed by Armitage and Libby became the fall guy for bullshit. They went after Libby bacause he has a lousy memory and NOT FOR OUTING PLAME.

We can argue all day long on the merits of getting a person on impeding an investigation --but Libby DID NOT OUT PLAME.

So Boyd--what did Rove and Libby talk about behind closed doors--maybe you are smarter than Scotty?

What lie Boyd?

"Armitage outed Plame."

Everyone who outed Plame before it became public knowledge broke the law. Not just the first.

The only real quality about Scotty was he made Bush sound really good when speaking.

Why didn't he come out sooner--or quit sooner or anything sooner??

He is doing this for $3.00 a copy sold..!

Murphy's a she. I wouldn't use the word "idiot," because that would make me sound like a meanie, but she was certainly not the A student.

Murphy-
re: "Do you understand that you cannot have a leak of something that becomes DECLASSIFIED?"

It was SECRETLY declassified and then only those portions which bolstered the Admin's case for the Iraq war and against Joe Wilson. This information was then anonymously passed on to reporters by Libby and Rove, along with Valerie Plame's identity as Joe Wilson's wife. BTW, Libby became a "fall guy" for lying to the FBI, lying to the grand jury (perjury), and obstruction of justice in the "accountability" administration of GWB. His prison sentence for convictions on four felony counts was then commuted by Bush.

Murhpy you are an idiot

This is what Limbaugh and Hannity said today, I believe it, and that settles it.

the answer to this is simple. he wasnt in on any meetings where these things supposedly happened or were talked about and IN FACT even in his book he bemoans the fact that he was "kept out of the loop".

and how will he feel in a VERY SHORT Time when the liberal fuck left is through pulling his strings and he has no one to confide in on that side or the side he is trying to screw over.

and here is another little fact that will make liberal fucks boil over.
the publisher of this trash has published the book on trying bush for murder......one more piece of liberal puke.

and HERE IS THE KICKER....

a major finaincial supporter of this publisher......to the tune of enough money to put out six books.......

DRUM ROLL PLEASE,.,....BBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr

GEORGE SOROS............TA DA !!!!!!!!!!!!

NOT a big surprise.
dont believe me......look it up......

AND lets talk about his interview this morning on the today show.

he said there were two occasions that made him decide to betray the trust of a man who GAVE him the position to make a few million bucks.
1) he said he asked cheney and rove straight out if they had any knowledge of the plame leak and they told him no....meaning of course he said they lied about.
HEY NUMBNUTTS.........ever heard of the name ARTITEGE..or whatever his frigging name is........HE LEAKED THE INFO

2) when he said that bush declassified info and then leaked it.
WHAT>......you CANT LEAK declassified info and in fact the press had been demanding that info be declassified.....

so if not those two reasons, then WHY?????

millions pledged to his bank account maybe.....
and poor scotty......when the left is through with him, he will be left WITH NOTHING>.......

and Scott was in a great position to confirm what really happened.

uh excuse me but he was only the press sectry and that is not a position of policy except for tony snow who asked for that to take the job. so he tells them what they want him too. and all of them from top to bottom tell us now that he was never in a meeting or place to hear any of this shit that you are gobblingup up.

I've seen this movie before: Former Bush official states what everyone pretty much already knows to be true, and has his character assassinated and his motives impugned.

Geez Monte--Thanks--3.4 to be exact and that was lucky considering all the fun I had in HS (3.2) and college.

It was SECRETLY declassified --per Boyd.

That is the funniest crap I have seen all day!

FF for Boyd

damn...I am so sorry that I didnt read further down. I should have known that murphy or some other conservative here would have already given the info that I did on my first post. good job murph!!!!!

repeat what we know know was a lie.

actually we now know it wasnt......armitage......isnt it cool that the left just so easily forgets all of that......

Bushlover-
There were multiple leakers. Is that too hard for you to grasp?

poor scotty......when the left is through with him, he will be left WITH NOTHING>.......

...but his pride & humanity in knowing he finally did the right(left?) thing in outing the legendary frog killer.

Clearing one consciousness for "sins" one has participated in is one of the many healings processes to evenual wholeness...Some people/lawyers use alcohol, though, for pain relief & hiding from obvious truths ~ especially in how we got to Iraq this time around:>)

His prison sentence for convictions on four felony counts was then commuted by Bush.

and NOT ONE FUCKIN LETTER of the name armitage in this whole piece of shit paragraph.//////

and YOU are calling murphy names.....if I hadnt seen this liberal bullshit so much here I wouldnt believe it.

Murphy-
re: "It was SECRETLY declassified --per Boyd.

That is the funniest crap I have seen all day!"

Yes, almost as funny as the Office of the VP not being a part of the Executive Branch of the US Gov't, but such are the people you continue to defend.

Bushlover-
re: "and YOU are calling murphy names.....if I hadnt seen this liberal bullshit so much here I wouldnt believe it."

Did I get something wrong? Was Libby convicted on five felony counts instead of four? (I forget)

I'm sure there's some truth in Scott's book, but he clearly is trying to avenge his piss poor stint as PS. He was arguably one of the worst the WH has seen. He's a bitter man.

...if I hadnt seen this liberal bullshit so much here I wouldnt believe it.

Lead exposure in children linked to violent crime

The first study to follow lead-exposed children from before birth into adulthood has shown that even relatively low levels of lead permanently damage the brain and are linked to higher numbers of arrests, particularly for violent crime.
So that's what happened to members of the executive in this administration! :-) - M. R.

Goatman-
I agree that Ari and Dana are/were much more effective liars.

Boyd--only Armitage outed Plame.

She set herself up--she and her numbnuts husband Joey.

She got him the job to go to Niger--you remember the yellow cake BS. And Joey's Op Ed piece??

Everyone is Washington knew she was Joe's wife and that she worked at the CIA.

She is a liar too--her memo email proves that.

When someone lies and tells folks that you were sent to Niger by Cheney and Cheney is asking who the hell is this guy? I never sent him anywhere. Who sent him?

And the answer is the CIA sent him (the cabal at the CIA) and how would that happen--and you are told that his wife works there and got him the job.

There is no outing. Even Libby wasn't found guilty on the outing charge. The fix was in when you listen to the jury --they wanted to be treated special and wanted to hear from Bush and Cheney themselves--even though they had nothing to do with outing Plame.

Her email to her bosses to recommend Joe for the Niger trip was the tale of the tape.

justoneminute.typepad.com

email from Plame

Murphy-
Ah, yes, "the cabal at the CIA".

How does the fact that the uranium from Niger "sixteen words" in Bush's SOTU speech were retracted by Tenet because they were demonstrably false when subject to the light of day fit in here? You're arguing that "the cabal at the CIA" wanted to get at the truth, Murphy. And look at the thanks they got.

Or should lies stand when your ideological friends promote them?

Plame affair ~ libby convicted on 4 counts

The federal trial United States v. Libby began on January 16, 2007. On March 6, 2007, Libby was convicted on four counts of perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements, and was acquitted of one count of making false statements.[6][7][8] Libby was sentenced to 30 months in prison, a fine of US$250,000, and two years of supervised release after his prison term.[9][10] After the verdict, Special Counsel Fitzgerald stated that he does not expect anyone else to be charged in the case: "We're all going back to our day jobs."[8] On July 2, 2007, President Bush commuted Libby's jail sentence, effectively erasing the 30 months he was supposed to spend in jail. The probation and fines still remain. The Wilsons also brought a civil law suit against Libby, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and Richard Armitage, in Wilson v. Cheney.[11][12] On July 19, 2007, Wilson v. Cheney was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds in United States District Court for the District of Columbia.[13] On behalf of the Wilsons, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington filed an appeal of the U.S. District Court's decision the following day.[14]

In March 2008, the Government Accountability Office revealed that the investigation had cost $2.58 million. The GAO also reported that "this matter is now concluded for all practical purposes."

Rush Limbaugh was having fits over McClellan today, all the while stating that the Republican Party is over-run with liberals generally.

What I get from this is that he thinks Scott may have be a liberal, if not in the past then now. I guess it may be like a retrovirus that slowly develops over time.

I also smell Limbaugh smelling defeat in November, and making sure he's got a developed theory in place, one that blames someone else and not him.

"The cabal at the CIA....."

I was wondering when that would raise it's head. Yup. All a cabal.

Interesting that George Bush, the employer of each and every one of those CIA plotters, appeared never to have a shred of control over any of them.

So the cabal to date includes the CIA, MSM, and apparently millions of registered but liberal Republicans.

Hell, dudes---Give it up---You can't win now.

Zed-
Everyone who's detailed the thuggery of this crew, even formerly loyal Bushies, are of course closet liberals wanting to "cash in" by burning their most powerful bridges. I'm surprised Limbaugh even showed up today. He could have just rebroadcast his shows from the Dilulio, O'Neill, Wilson, Clarke.....et al episodes.

I wonder when Colin Powell is going to write a tell all. He's been pretty tight lipped after being tossed aside like a rag doll.

By the way if something is secretly declassified is it still a secret???

Neutron-
That depends. Does it help or hurt the thugs who secretly declassified it? If it helps, then no. If it hurts, then yes. That's the beauty of secretly declassifying portions of intel. reports for political gain and character assassination, something our resident ditto-heads seem rendered incapable of understanding (as if understanding were their goal).

The 16 words said Africa not Niger

Another point here is that when Wilson went over there he actually confirmed that Iraq had sought to have trade talks with Niger. Niger turned them away because all they have to trade is Uranium yellow cake and if they met with the Iraqi trade group they would have been in violation of the sanctions set by the UN.

How can anyone buy this garbage that when something is declassified it could be done secretly? That is an oxymoron on its face!

Those are Scotty words--the document was sent out for consumption.

Yeah and when folks are bashing people in the WH--they are allowed to stick up for themselves and provide docs that prove their points.

He was not included in any meetings, had no access, couldn't talk to save his life--it is all hype.

It is all about money and he stabbed Bush and others in the back.

Maybe he was a closet liberal--doubt it--he is after the bucks because he can't talk and he cant' get another job.

Russert better ask some bonafide questions on Sunday on MeetDepress.

FLASHBACK: McCain: I would have started Iraq war regardless of WMD

rawstory.com

This is only the first book about this administration to tell these tells. There will be others. BTW is Scotty did it for money why didn't he just ask for some of the missing 9 Billion for his silence.

With your logic Neut--

Why didn't Bush just plant the WMD in Iraq for the inspectors to find rather than go thru all this BS grief?

This is not the first book--but the only way for a book to get anything is to bash Bush and get in with the MSM and liberals.

Why didn't Bush plant the wmds? Also the liberals did not write this book, a conservative did and now the the conservatives want to paint him as a liberal. Even the churches are leaving this administration. These are not conservatives, they would have balanced the budget, banned abortion, and banned gay marriage like their platform states.

Why didn't Bush just plant the WMD in Iraq

Saddam had yellow cake. 5000 metric tons. You could mine it in Iraq, which made the Sudan thing even more ridiculous. Still people bought it, didn't they?

They were really looking for chemical and biological weapons - at least that was their argument made by Powell. Mobile labs, etc.

All he had left was that yellow cake, already inventoried, and a hand full of people who knew how to implement the plans we found.

Some time ago I read about the oil companies and OPEC being pissed at him because he'd sell on the blackmarket and it was driving prices down. By deposing Saddam they could gain access for Exxon and BP. This is the history of the last century. Basically a colonial government favorable to "our" business interests installed by force.

Bananas, oil, coffee, spices, tea. Can't say we don't help those who help themselves, especially to other people's stuff.

I should also say that McClellan seems struck by Bush's revelation that he couldn't remember doing cocaine. Mac believes him - but also realizes that also means that the "hard partying" Bush drank himself into a state where he passed out and couldn't remember what he did.

That's a serious kinda of alcoholic.

I think Mac comes from that evangelic side. That's why they thought he could be trusted. The real fire is coming from Rove who may want to take a vacation after the election because he might be arrested by Congress, or have a major investigation by, let's say, Attorney General John Edwards.

I've been sick of these hypocrites for a long time. I don't care what party they're in. Smoke 'em out and hang 'em high.

It's always nice when a once-Republican tool develops a conscience. herm

Everyone is saying that McClellan didn't write the final version of the book but that his publisher ghost wrote most of it. Well if that is true there has to be earlier versions of the same book out there. I wonder if ole Scott will furnish them to us or does someone have to subpoena them to get to the truth of what he intended to write before George Soros got involved.

did any of these actually have something to do with the reason they were there or the charge made by scotty mccellon? I wasnt aware that any of the charges had to do with what we are talking about here.....

then you might have enjoyed rush today as he called the problem in this country is the 535 men and women in the house and senate that we KEEP SENDING BACK........here we just might have common ground.

George Soros, MSM, CIA, and millions of covertly liberal Republicans. I'm anxious to see who the cabal includes by morning.

You guys are crazy. Seriously crazy. And, just be frank, it's why you're in the mess you're in.

"You might have enjoyed Rush today....."

Oh, I did. Thought he'd pop a blood vessel. When Powell writes his book on Bush the man will just stroke out.

"When Powell writes his book on Bush the man will just stroke out."

If there is a God, yes.

and of course its a liberal fuck who wieghs in with the old 'we hope he dies'line.

hey zed.......he is much more angry at republicans talking like liberals than anything others might say......and unfortuanately thanks to several things including liberal activists on the east coast early primaries, we are stuck with mccain......a man who I admit is not my first choice but is the only choice compared to the two american socialists.....so whats a boy to do?

"When Powell writes his book on Bush the man will just stroke out."

Now that would be funny!

on the Rush "blames someone else and not him"
that's what righties do, blame someone else, never acccept responsibility, it's always someone elses fault. Rush fans need to know who to hate today, all they got is:
1. blame others
2. hate liberals

it's probably caused by retardation

Most mentally handicapped folks I've known have too much class to listen to a hate monger like Rush.

Everyone is saying that McClellan didn't write the final version of the book but that his publisher ghost wrote most of it. No, not "everyone." Only the WH and Fox's pathetic myrmidons.

You can't subpoena without a lawsuit. Are you sure you want a lawsuit against McClellon? Think about the ramifications of that for a minute.

first of all danni.......that was real clever. of course you expect us on the right to be subjected to rantings and bullshit from cnn and other leftwing mouthpieces in the name of looking at the other side but you think noone should listen to our side. typical shit from the left. did you ever think that by listening to cnn and npr I get tons of ammunition against your party that will pull this country down to the level of some eastern european country?

ah but to the point.....

ONNA.....you must not listen. I bet you havent listened for any length of time at all. if you had, you wouldnt be so mean and nasty and so very wrong when you insult millions of americans who listen everyday and I know that libs dont give a good god damn about any of that but it might do you some good to listen once in a while for more than what you hear from the liberal talk shows. I would guess that you get your rush updates from the ladies of the view....or thats what you bullshit sounds like.

and you and danni.......you can call us stupid as long and as loud as you want. it only reflects on you, not us.in other words, we dont give a shit what you call us.it will not deter us from our goal of keeping the socialist candidates from living in the white house.

McClellan was a whip. There for he is qualified to join the liberal ASSHOLES.

I sometimes double-post when the D.R. is slow in executing. So THAT is Rcade's fault. I presume Ozzie wants to make a point, even with 101's "Whimp" spelling. Speaking of the "liberal ASSHOLE" movement... herm

I'll bet Scott waited to put out this book so he could get his family affairs in order. When Wilson spoke out against the Bush-Chaney spin machine they went after his wife not him. Nothing is off limits to these guys. Now with the patriot act they can make you disappear.

hey neut....your paranoia is showing

and all of these mccelland threads are outdated and obsolete.
just read what bob dole has to say and thats all that need to be said.

Dole's last word, BLT? Let's hope so. herm

Who cares what Bob Dole has to say. He already wrote his book and so did his wife. He is just towing the administration line. When Clinton was in office the conservatives were all screaming "we want the truth" the tables have turned and i still wold like to know the truth>> Dana said today that they could still invoke executive priveledge if Scott is supoenaed. Why? Are they afraid?

Scott McClellan is not unlike the famous and fatuous found-Jeebus-in-prison Nixon co-cospirator Chuck Colson. Turning into good men after an epiphany. I call bullshit! They both should be rotting in prison!

"Turning into good men after an epiphany...."

Don't believe in epiphanies? Too bad. From what I can tell Scott didn't have one but Chuck might.

In any case, "Jeebus" is one of the candies found in a JuJubies package. Care to guess which?

bushlovertwo has often used carictures of "libs", as that's much easier than knowing the truth, and he always projects his phony viewpoint unto others, as in assuming his foes are liberals or that they listen to liberal talk shows.

I don't listen to any talk shows, all BS, but I constantly hear the talking points from a few rightie aquaintances. When I ask where they got it they say Rush.

time and time again righties have proven they are intellectually challanged, I think that means they are not smart, so take that as an insult!

Rush was the champion of "cigarette smoke is not harmful", he has a lack of credibilty!

the Rush fan with an daughter that had a deformed face stoped listening to Rush when he made fun of "ugley" Chelsea.

keep on with the koolaid!

"absent any input from any media?" was not the issue, there are many good sources opf news, try "The Onion"

"...when libs voice their opinions, where do you think they receive the concepts/ideas? Are you implying they do so absent any input from any media?"

Don't know about others. I read the Smirking Chimp, the Huffington Post and The Nation, listen to NPR, PBS and Pacifica, then make up my mind in the light of what best fits values developed in a lifetime of reflection. I daresay other "libs" do the same. herm

on Rush ,there are a lot more mis-steps that are more current, check out his spiel on GW and compare that to US gov reports.

when you refer to the media are you reffering to the "talk" circuit or to news sources

sure there is bias, but an intelligent person can weed through that. I regularly read 8 news souces (read not watch)

with Rush it's all bias, and some of his comments are just made up
here's one such link to a made up story:

I doubt that you read or listen to anywhere NEAR the amount of things that I read and listen to...first of all because I am retired and I have the time but also because I listen to every viewpoint. for instance I am about to turn leno off and watch the mclaughlin group and its a strain because he is a liberal turd and whats her name gives me a headache, but I watch it because it gives me info as to what the liberal is thinking and that helps my cause.
I will be listening to npr almost all morning as I wait for my tee times and I listen to every liberal on fox and cnn and other networks that I think might have something to say on important issues. I read the houston chronicle and scan the internet NY times and LA times and I listen to the pacifica station here on many afternoon drives.....a RADICAL LEFTIST bunch of loonies......so dont try and tell me that I take all my cues from rush or hannity although I listen to them probably more than the others mainly because of the time they are on.
and I still want the question asked earlier.....where do libs get thier points? they want us to believe that they just sit and lower thier heads and they come up with all of thier preaching and beliefs all on thier own......and thats a crock.

all of you can say whatever you wish because I KNOW that I get as much data as possible and make my own ideas from that even though that does not mean that I dont take what rush andhannity say and run with it. they have a high rate of truthfullness. I believe rush is around 97 % correct.
so again, say what you will. I KNOW what I read and hear and thats all that matters to me.

and oh yeah.....I have looked and looked for ed schultz show and it is nowhere to be found. and you can say thats because I live in houston, but I bet people all over the country have trouble finding any liberal talk show BECAUSE THEY DONT MAKE MONEY>............and WHY is that?

sorry but I didnt see this

Don't know about others. I read the Smirking Chimp, the Huffington Post and The Nation, listen to NPR, PBS and Pacifica, then make up my mind in the light of what best fits values developed in a lifetime of reflection. I daresay other "libs" do the same. herm

and here is my point proven. not one thing you read or look at is from MY point of view and yet the left tells us that if WE only listen to rush et al.....that we are stupid. so why cant I call you backward and stupid because all of these things you mention are leftwing? I do the same thing you do but I include various media of THE OTHER side and here YOU DONT...........please explain.

All you need to know about Scotty's literary portrayal of Judas Iscariot;

OLBERMANN: Scott McClellan, I don't want to get too fulsome on you but I don't think you're going to be dining out on the book for the rest of life. I think this a primary document of American history and I'm very impressed with it. At some point people will be teaching history based on it.

Nuff said.

"Boyd--only Armitage outed Plame."

Nonsense. Everyone who leaked the info until it became common knowledge "outed" Plame. Read the law.

"the SP KNEW IT WASNT LIBBY and went ahead ANYWAY..."

The SP caught Libby in a lie early in the investigation. He was ethically bound to seek the reason for that lie.

"...in the old days that would be entrapment."

No, it wouldn't. It would be competent investigative work, same as today.
