Jim Webb for VP.

Jim McGreevey for VP/Bamabuddy.

Ron Paul!

Anybody but hillbillary

Hold your nose Barrack and offer it publicly to Hillary Clinton. Psst....don't hold your nose when the camera is looking at you.

www.escapeest.com

This guy would actually help make change more the an empty slogan for idiots. Plus it's a good look at where we will be if he is elected. It's a twofer

Yeah, cause that $2 a gallon gas is....oh, wait.

Yeah, and now that they've captured Osama...oh, wait.

Paris Hilton.

She has at least as much substance as Obama does, if not more.

Don't bother, Spud. My mind's as made up as yours is, and I was actually thinking when I did it.

"She has at least as much substance as Obama does, if not more."

Is there a "sad that someone believes that to be true" flag??

Is there a "sad that someone believes that to be true" flag??

Posted by Lisa

Newsworthy would be more appropriate.

Kathleen Sebelius. Lots of good reasons. She cleaned up a very corrupt insurance commissioners' office before being elected (twice) a Democratic Governor of Kansas.

But, a part of me is rooting for her just to see Geraldine Ferraro turn three shades of purple and spit blood.

"Is there a "sad that someone believes that to be true" flag??"

No, because then there would have to be a "Sad that someone believes that it's sad that someone believes that to be true" flag.

I mean, where does it all end?

""She has at least as much substance as Obama does, if not more."

Twice by my calculations. On one hand you have "thats hot" and the other "dee dee dee" uh i mean "change" thats twice the syllables and probably twice the brain power.

So Chris just had his panel on commenting about the potential picks for Obama--

So we can do ours--Give an upside and downside on each person. And give your own pick.

1) Hillary Clinton
Upside--
Downside--

2) Evan Byah
Upside--
Downside--

3) Katherine Sebelius
Upside--
Downside--

4) Mike Bloomberg
Upside--
Downside--

5) John Edwards
Upside--
Downside--

My Pick---

How's that? Sorry if I got someone's name misspelled.

Murphy

William "Fox" Fallon for Veep.

www.esquire.com

John McSame.

face it, it would be as close as he was gonna get, it'd destroy the GOP and sometime in 2009, he could be sent home and somebody competent could replace him.

Just keep Sirhan Huckabee away from the guns...

Obama/Soros '08!

"Twice by my calculations. On one hand you have "thats hot" and the other "dee dee dee" uh i mean "change" thats twice the syllables and probably twice the brain power."

Yeah, we keep hearing about "hope" and "change".

Once he's been in office for two years and it's obvious that everything's gonna stay in a "business as usual" mode in Washington, he'll probably start telling everyone criticizing him, "Well, change your goddamn hopes!"

Hold your nose Barrack and offer it publicly to Hillary Clinton. Psst....don't hold your nose when the camera is looking at you.

Obama would be wise to pick John Edwards.

I doubt Hillary, although she and Obama were close on most of the issues, would want to play second. I would like to believe that just maybe Hillary would not be the corporatist she and her hubby Bill had become if she were actually elected President, I think the Clintons are too entrenched in D.C. and could never change. To pick Hillary as his VP would dilute Obama's message of "change."

Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton (even if only as VP) does not show any message of "change" to me.

I just happened to hear Obama's speak a few days ago and liked what I heard him say on a number of the issues. Maybe I'll reconsider and vote for him.

What REALLY made me think Obama might be good to vote for was a news clip I just saw of McCain speaking before some business group where he was mocking Obama about not wanting the Bush version of "free trade" and McCain said if he were elected President he would not only keep the disasterous (for both the American and Mexican working people) "NAFTA" treaty in place but he would make sure the globalists' CAFTA treaty gets signed. That's all I needed to hear McInsane say. When McCain mocked Obama for not wanting more of Bush's globalist free trade agreements -- which have killed America's working middle class -- McCain put my vote right into Obama's back pocket.

1) Hillary Clinton
Upside-- None
Downside-- Whore

2) Evan Byah
Upside-- Indiana
Downside-- Where is this guy, anyways?

3) Katherine Sebelius
Upside-- Kansas
Downside-- Kansas

4) Mike Bloomberg
Upside-- Rich
Downside-- Rich

5) John Edwards
Upside-- None
Downside-- Loser

My Pick--- No clue

I would love Wes Clark or Bill Richardson, although I don't really think either of them are polished enough to fill out a serious ticket.

Obama-Webb 08

Obama-Biden or Obama-Graham '08.

Obama/Feingold or Obama/Edwards.

The List of Nominees Are:

1. Barney Frank (very charasmatic and credible)
2. Jim McGreevy (Cool under fire)
3. John Edwards (drop-dead good loooking)
4. Richard Simmons (could be a ferocious negotiator)
5. Alan Alda (right - I mean correct - on ALL the issues)
6. Jane Fonda (She earned her bonifides in Hanoi)
7. Rosie O'Donnell (A woman & gay - a 'twofer')

8. [none of the above]

1) Hillary Clinton
Upside-- May avert a sabotage
Downside-- May need extra Secret Service Protection

2) Evan Byah
Upside-- Make Indiana competitive
Downside-- Who?

3) Katherine Sebelius
Upside-- Can make Kansas competitive
Downside-- Can she make anything else competitive

4) Mike Bloomberg
Upside-- Independent
Downside-- His ship has sailed

5) John Edwards
Upside-- Union/populist?
Downside-- Lost once before and probably still can't pull NC over the line.

6.) Bill Richardson
Upside-- Western states, hispanic
Downside-- No way two minorities are on the same ticket

7. Wes Clark
Upside-- Military background
Downside-- He was the Dems Fred Thompson in 2004

8. Jim Webb
Upside-- Virginia, Military, general all around tough guy
Downside-- Not so popular at home

9. Chuck Hagle
Upside-- Republican
Downside-- Republican

10. Joe Biden
Upside-- well respected, adult
Downside-- may look more presidential than Obama

My pick -- Hagle, that would rattle some cages.

What's the deal with Fiengold, Nulli? I'd vote for him in a second for POTUS, much less Vice-POTUS, but he never seems interested in running. Do you think he has some stupid skeleton in his closet? I just can't figure out his reluctance.

Monte-
I like Feingold a lot, too, but I don't think he'd ever win POTUS. "Too liberal," etc. As for adding him to an Obama ticket? Some people already think Obama is too liberal; add Feingold to the ticket, and you'd have Lenin/Stalin comparisons run amock.

"I just can't figure out his reluctance."

Don't know, but he's only 56.

"but I don't think he'd ever win POTUS. "

A term or two as VP would take care of that problem.

Dylan - I agree. I think Obama needs to pick someone with a military background (not necessarily a vet - service on the armed services committee or something similar), and who exudes gravitas.

And, of course, someone with relatively progressive politics who shares Obama's vision.

"exudes gravitas"

eww

gross

Do you mean "exudes Gravas"?

www.imdb.com

Would everybody please for the love of treacle stop talking about an Obama/Clinton ticket, PLEASE, an Obama/Clinton ticket is the surest way to ensure that Barack gets a bullet to the head during the inauguration, the woman will stop at nothing to be POTUS I tell you NOTHING. (For example what she is doing right now). Obama/Webb sounds good as does Obama/Sebeilus, Obama/Edwards is a losing proposition, my "dream ticket" Obama/Colin Powell.

LBD-
Obama/Powell would also trip my trigger, even despite the whole UN presentation debacle.

Obama/Edwards is not a losing ticket. Edwards shares most of what Obama is standing on.

MW-
I think people may have a hard time getting excited about Obama/Edwards after 2004. Besides, it would do little to calm the fears of those people who think Obama has too little experience.

Henry Liu for secretary of treasure

Hagel would be a good choice for a cabinet position but not the VP slot, because, God forbidden, something did happen to Obama, Hagel would become president and he doesn't hold many of the mainstream positions held by the Democratic party beyond being against the Iraq war.

I think Edwards could help Obama with the rural white voters that Hillary is claiming she has a lock on. Elizabeth Edwards could help with the women's vote.

Hillary would help him with the all important women's vote but would undercut Obama's message of change.

Webb or Biden would be good because they would bring strong foreign policy credentials to the ticket. I think Biden or Webb would be good at going after McCain on foreign policy issues. Webb might also help with the Appalachian voters Obama has been losing.

A female governor would help with the women's vote but wouldn't help him in the foreign policy department.

Richardson would help with the Hispanic vote but not be the best campaigner and debater.

As an aside, I got an email today that claimed Obama could be the anti-christ talked about in the Book of Revelations. Does that mean that Evangelicals will vote for him in an effort to hasten the Rapture?

Dylan,

Kerry was the problem in 2004, many people liked Edwards but Kerry took them down.

Considerable respect here for Hagel and Powell... but they are Republicans and the GOP would be salivating at that prospect.

Edwards has worked really hard in '04 and this time, but that swift boated loss in '04...

Webb looks like a guy that could get back in the GOP face and his anti-war credential is very good.

OINK! Whatta bunch of a-holes.

"A female governor would help with the women's vote but" Ann's dead.

As for the "Rapture" (snort, chuckle ... ): Kill yourselves quickly; It will save work when the real herd-culling time comes.

Evenin' Lisa, Gal.

Hi Zat,

Yeah, Ann could have kicked anybody's butt and often did. :-)

Just a farmer's daughter from Lorena.

www.newsdesigner.com

1) Hillary Clinton
Upside-- She has a coalition of Dem voters
Downside-- She is a Clinton--If she were on the ticket the Repubs would get ginned up for sure.

2) Evan Byah
Upside-- Who?
Downside-- Who?

3) Katherine Sebelius
Upside--Governor--might make Kansas go blue
Downside-- The HIllary coalition would go absolutely insane if Obama picked another woman on the VP slot and it wasn't HIllary.

4) Mike Bloomberg
Upside--Great Economic background
Downside--Too rich

5) John Edwards
Upside--Pretty Hair
Downside--Lost in 2004--same ol same ol

One thing for sure--you can't have another Senator on the ticket--not for Obama.

My Pick---Someone who is Governor-like with Foreign policy --National Security experience. What is weird is that Obama actually thinks his strength is foreign policy--which he has none! He would need someone with both economic and foreign policy experience--because he has neither. He is real good at speeches about change though.

The only one to pick is Al Gore.
Upside--Everyone knows him.
Downside--Everyone know him.

If only Gore could win TN. Hhhhmmmmm...

Murphy

"secretary of treasure(sic)"

Whatever that is.

Colin Powell for VP?

May I introduce you to the next Vice President of the United States Governor Edward G. Rendell of Pennsylvania????

Well, it's a possibility that I think makes sense.

"Colin Powell for VP?"

Just what we need, a man who wouldn't stand up for the truth when it mattered. Sorry, I liked Colin Powell too but he cast his lot with the Neocons. He's over. He's done. He will NEVER be a significant voice in American politics again. Rightly so.

1) Hillary Clinton
Upside-- Placates a segment of the base.
Downside-- The hard working white folks HATED her from 1992 to 2007. Then, they liked her for not being Obama. But, they'd hate Obama/Clinton even more than they hated either of the individually.

2) Evan Bayh
Upside-- Make Indiana competitive. DLC (Republican-lite) trianuglator
Downside-- DLC (Republican-lite) trianuglator.

3) Katherine Sebelius
Upside-- Catholic woman of a certain age. Experienced as heck.
Downside-- Sleepytime speaker. Likely wouldn't carry Kansas.

4) Mike Bloomberg
Upside -- America likes tycoons.
Downside-- New York City. Short Jewish multibillionaire banker.

5) John Edwards
Upside-- Union/populist?
Downside-- Less experience than Clinton or Obama. Not popular at home. Has been campaigning for Prez or VP 6 of the 10 years of his political life.

6.) Bill Richardson
Upside-- Western states, hispanic, funny
Downside-- Too good a SecState to waste on the VP slot

7. Wes Clark
Upside-- Military background
Downside-- Lot of people actually from the military thought he sucked at it.

8. Jim Webb
Upside-- Virginia, Military, general all around tough guy, bright.
Downside-- Very short time elected.

9. Chuck Hagle
Upside-- Right on Iraq.
Downside-- Not particularly in agreement on much else.

10. Joe Biden
Upside-- well respected, adult
Downside-- may look more presidential than Obama

Danni - If you're going for a "lock a big swing state" strategy, Obama's already consistently polling 5-9% over McCain in Pennsylvania. Thus, Ted Strickland of Ohio if that still looks risky, or Bill Nelson of Florida if you're swinging for the rafters.

I think it has to be Jim Webb. He most effectively backs up Obama's weak points- toughness and realism on Iraq and foreign policy, likability among working class whites.

Also he's as purple as they come (being a former Republican), and that's Obama's favourite color.

In addition to that, he's brand new

Osama Bin Laden would make an excellent VP running made for Barack Hussein Obama. Same hatred of America and Bush and similar on social issues.

UTA-
Just a couple of quick points-

To Osama bin Laden, Bush is the gift that keeps on giving, dude.

Did you really just refer to bin Laden as a social liberal? Are you really that confused?

How about the next winner of American Idol?

HOW ABOUT
MICHAEL JACKSON
DON KING
MIKE TYSON
EDDY MURPHY......

O.J. ?

Jim Webb could always bring in the upside down little boy weenie suckers vote.

Thats an all important demographic for the democrats.

Bee Swell

Jim Webb could always bring in the upside down little boy weenie suckers vote.

Explain that one.

Oh, that's right...Webb has a BOOK OF FICTION.

What a bastard!

My vote is for any on this list:

Al Gore: We didn't have enough fun with him in 2000 or since. He's an oldie but a goodie.

Robert Byrd: Nothing like the all important clan vote in the south to put the democrats over the top.

3. John Edwards: I really hope you guys put this fuckwad on the ticket again. Then we can call the pair tweedle dee and tweedle dumb. John Edwards is a born loser.

4. Barney Frank: They could always turn the white house into a gay bar. Obama could be the local pimp and pusher at the same time.

5. Jim Webb: Deep down in my heart I really hope it is Jim Webb. Nothing like the pedophile references to kill a candidates chances!!!

Bee Swell

Alexandrite, it wasn't no book on fiction dumbass.

Bee Swell

Then name the book for me, CPJ.

Let me help:

"Lost Soldiers" (2001)

FICTION.

www.amazon.ca

www.jameswebb.com

Moron.

The story is a personal recount of what Webb says he viewed in real life.

"The 2001 novel also recounts an episode involving a father and young son in Thailand."

Personally, I think Webb had more than a passing fancy with the incident.

Bee Swell

A disappointing novel from Jim Webb, Sep 9 2001
By A Customer
I've always been a big fan of Jim Webb's fiction, so this book was a disappointment to me. While Mr. Webb continues to excel at descriptive prose in his vivid depictions of Saigon cyclo drivers and Bangkok pig markets, the plot in this novel was too unbelievable to give this book any staying power as a piece of literature. Mr. Webb did not take the time to make his characters' connections seem authentic, and the climactic moment in the book is forced and utterly improbable. In the end, this is a cheap paperback thriller that shouldn't be taken too seriously . . . and don't buy the hardcover!

You're a joke, CPJ.

www.amazon.ca

search.barnesandnoble.com

It's listed under "Crimes - Fiction"

Amazon has it under "mystery"

IT'S FICTION!

Personally, I think Webb had more than a passing fancy with the incident.

If you'd like to accuse Webb of being a pedophile, you're going to need a more substantial source than a book of fiction, you piece of despicable shit.

"What about Bill Richardson?"

On paper, he's fine. But consider the percentage of Dem primary voters who cited "race" as a factor in their vote for someone other than Obama. If they have a problem with Obama, think what Obama and Richardson would look like, standing side by side. Ay carramba!

10. Joe Biden
Upside-- well respected, adult
Downside-- may look more presidential than Obama

Posted by lawnchair at 2008-05-22 08:34 PM | Reply | Flag:

Joe would be an excellent choice. He probably would even accept the VP slot. Afterall, he did recognize that Obama was even a CLEAN black man. Yes, yes....let's go with Joe then.

"The Navy Cross is presented to James H. Webb, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Platoon Commander with Company D, First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division (Reinforced), Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam. On 10 July 1969, while participating in a company-sized search and destroy operation deep in hostile territory, First Lieutenant Webb's platoon discovered a well-camouflaged bunker complex that appeared to be unoccupied. Deploying his men into defensive positions, First Lieutenant Webb was advancing to the first bunker when three enemy soldiers armed with hand grenades jumped out. Reacting instantly, he grabbed the closest man and, brandishing his .45 caliber pistol at the others, apprehended all three of the soldiers. Accompanied by one of his men, he then approached the second bunker and called for the enemy to surrender. When the hostile soldiers failed to answer him and threw a grenade that detonated dangerously close to him, First Lieutenant Webb detonated a claymore mine in the bunker aperture, accounting for two enemy casualties and disclosing the entrance to a tunnel. Despite the smoke and debris from the explosion and the possibility of enemy soldiers hiding in the tunnel, he then conducted a thorough search that yielded several items of equipment and numerous documents containing valuable intelligence data. Continuing the assault, he approached a third bunker and was preparing to fire into it when the enemy threw another grenade. Observing the grenade land dangerously close to his companion, First Lieutenant Webb simultaneously fired his weapon at the enemy, pushed the Marine away from the grenade, and shielded him from the explosion with his own body. Although sustaining painful fragmentation wounds from the explosion, he managed to throw a grenade into the aperture and completely destroy the remaining bunker. By his courage, aggressive leadership, and selfless devotion to duty, First Lieutenant Webb upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service."

Sam Nunn's probably too old. He would bring maturity, national security strengths.

I like Sam Nunn for all the reasons you state. He'd also bring an extra dash intergrity to the ticket. Plus, picking him wouldn't deprive the Senate of someone like Biden or Webb. Since he's been out of politics a while, his presence on the ticket wouldn't conflict with Obama's message of change.

P.S. How old is Nunn?

I think Chuck Hagel would be his best pick. He's one of the few good Republicans, and would really broaden the approach of the executive branch in terms of how they handle business. It would also make Obama look like an open minded person willing to listen to alternative views, which is definitely needed in the White House. A Republican running mate might also pull a few votes away from McCain.

"Bill Nelson (FL) is a decent choice in terms of delivering another swing state.""

What about Bob Graham, he too could deliver Florida, he opposed the war when he sas in the Senate, knows foreign policy and national secutity issues.

Oh, why not just have his wife do the job?

You're a joke, CPJ.

Oh, why not just have his wife do the job?

POSTED BY JONRYKER AT 2008-05-23 12:36 PM | REPLY | FLAG:

We tried that in the 90's and we are still paying for it.

"Oh, why not just have his wife do the job?"

She'd be a hell of a lot better than McBush.

Obama/Obama '08!

More accurately
We tried that in the 80's and we are still paying for it. The couple in the 90's balanced the budget unlike every Republican who has occupied the office starting with Ronnie Raygun.

"P.S. How old is Nunn?

Posted by Gal_Tuesday"

I think he's 70.

Admiral William "Fox" Fallon---he'd lay the smack down on McCain's foreign policy BS. He was already forced out by GWB's administration due to his critical views of their Iran "strategy".

This would take the "i'm a war hero, Obama isn't" club out of McCain's bag. He'd have NOTHING else to run on.

T'would be a landslide victory.

B--Fallon although an interesting choice (scary manchurian photo on your link BTW)

Not sure he is a political kind of guy.

What states could he bring to the table--? No one knows him at all--no experience in governing, economics--same as Obama.

McCain has been very understated about his service--it is out there and most folks know about--but he is not clubbing Obama over the head with it.

If anything there are Dems--Harkin for one--who is now stating that McCain's service is useless.

I hope the Dems go after McCain on his service--really piss off a lot of people and backfire.

Obama has many shortcomings and he is handling this issue as best he can--by acknowledging the service with respect and then moving on to talk about something else.

Here is more--
