Sen. Edward Kennedy was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital in Massachusetts Saturday morning, a well-informed, prominent Democratic source in that state told CNN. The source said the 76-year-old senator had "symptoms of a stroke."

That's what it's supposed to look like. Hillary does NOT forgive or forget....

He should be sufficiently pickled to hang on a couple of more decades.

Wonder of two-ton Ted has to rely on Medicaid to pay his hospital bill or
had to sit in the Cape Cod Hospital emergency waiting room for five hours before he saw a doctor.

Maybe Hillary put a voo doo curse on ol' Ted for giving his endorsement to Obama.

Not his biggest fan, but I hope for a quick recovery.

NO, he dosen't. Rush has private insurance and pays his own way. Ted has the special government policy where he gets the best of care free. Fat-assed Ted can't afford to pay his own. He never had a private sector job in his life.

"Not his biggest fan, but I hope for a quick recovery."

You are a Democrat

I've posted this before but here goes, for years I thought Ted was likely getting a hummer, or laid and hit the gas or gearshift and went off the "bridge" etc.

But then I saw a documentary done by Bill Kurtis, there was information I'd never heard before.
Apparently the night of the incident, Ted was last seen in town (which one I forget) in his hotel room for the night. The next morning, as was his wont, he got up early, came downstairs and went out to the corner store to get the paper. It was reported he was calm, dry and normal in demeanor by the hotel staff, the guy at the market, and several passersby.
Ted was seated on the hotels front porch reading the paper, when two men, about his age, appeared, wet and disheveled and distraught.( I believe they said they were known to be friends of Teds and maybe one was his cousin)anyway; they all went up to Teds room and, according to witnesses, within 5 minutes a vastly different Ted Kennedy emerged from his room with his companions. He was reported to be almost white and obviously distraught. They all left and drove a few miles away where Ted placed a call.
I'd say the real story will never be known.

you go to church, don't you?

His is a star-crossed family.

His mother lived to a ripe old age, so there are some genes there, but his life style has apparently been somewhat indifferent to any concerns regarding the effect of the way his lives on his health.
You would think that his carotid artery problem would have been more closely monitored by his physicians if that is indeed the cause of his current malaise.

The way this story was released makes it look as if his condition is very serious.

Is this, "Exeunt, left stage" for Sen. Ted and his entourage?

We extend condolences if this is the end. If death is tragedy, then remember that this is the end that awaits us all. None of us is very far behind. Go with God, Ted. It's been an interesting and lively run for you.

They are now reporting a "seizure", not stroke.

The man got away with murder many years ago and he has stayed in the senate way past when he should retire. It's about time he did something else. But then, I do go to church sometimes. Do you or do you just care?

Do I go to church? No, if I want to watch a pagan ritual I'm sure I could find one that's much more fun.

Wow, look at all the "compasionate conservatives!"

The compassion of you fucking Idiots on the Right is breathtaking. An of course your is the Party of Religious beliefs. Jesus would be proud of your reactions. There has been no better Senator for the past 50 years that truly care for the POOR, the right of African Americans, an the Medical health of all Americans, than Ted Kennedy, one can only hope that he will be well.

As for you Right Wing Hacks that insist that Senator got away with Murder, Name one FACT (Yea I know something you fucks can't get deal with) just one FACT that the DA in Mass. missed to send the senator to trial....Just bcause you Right Wing Assholes keep saying it doesn't make it so!!! FACTS ASSHOLES FACTS!!!!

Mary Jo Kopechne sends her best!

Unbelieveable. They always bring up Mary Jo with regards to Ted Kened but they raise holy hell when You remind them that Dubya is responsible for many more killings than Ted Kenedy and they are just as responsible for them because they supported His illegal actions. Funy dat Be.

Larry Mohr

Name one FACT (Yea I know something you fucks can't get deal with) just one FACT that the DA in Mass. missed to send the senator to trial....

You are right of course, celery. The DA did not miss a single fact -- especially the last name of the peretrator. Had he ignored that fact, the Massuchesettes penal system would have had one more inmate in 1969

Unbelieveable. They always bring up Mary Jo with regards to Ted Kened

What's so unbelievable about that? In the future whenever W is mentioned, it will be immediately followed by Iraq. People cannot shake the most infamous part of their lives, Larry. That's a fact of human nature. I know you would prefer that that fact applied only to Republicans, but it applies to everyone.

"Unbelieveable. They always bring up Mary Jo with regards to Ted Kened"

"What's so unbelievable about that? In the future whenever W is mentioned, it will be immediately followed by Iraq. People cannot shake the most infamous part of their lives"

Hi Goatman! I can't believe that you don't see a huge difference here.

How can you equate Kennedy's accident with an intentional misleading of an entire country costing thousands of Americans, Iraqi's and coalitioners thier lives, putting this country in financial jeapordy and dividing this country so far in half, I doubt it will ever be united again?????

Huge stretch there big guy!!

You missed my point, Lisa. There is no comparison in the magnitude of the respective deeds as you say, of course, but if you have to ID the most infamous part of each of those two men's lives, Bush's would be Iraq and Kennedy's would be Chappaquiddick.

We humans have a preponderance to attaching trash to all but the most saintly of souls. Neither Teddy nor Bushy is anywhere near beatification. So each will always be remembered by their dirt, not their benevolence.

I have as much compassion for him as the left has for President Bush - no more, no less.

First, I think he is the worst politician in history and has done nothing in 45 years except bring this country to the brink of disaster, I would love to see him leave the senate, But not this way, I pray for his recovery and hope he gets better, you people have to remember he is loved deeply by many and it would be heartbreaking for them.

Just because he is a leftie of monstrous proportions does not mean God does not love him just as much as the rest of us. I know it sounds like a backhanded insult towards him. But he is probably a decent guy, he honestly believes all that he says and never backs down, He is tough.

He is one of the best examples of why we need term limits for congress.

Sorry the razzing of your sotted slothly saint is getting under skin.

That was indeed wrong of them. Technically it was manslaughter.

Technically it was manslaughter.

"Technically" it wasn't.

He was charged and plead guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. His sentence was suspended.

Technically it was manslaughter.

"Technically" it wasn't.

I stand corrected. For someone named "Smith" the charge would've been manslaughter.

For someone named "Smith" the charge would've been manslaughter.

Why not ask McCain's pastor Hagee or his spiritual guide Parsley?

Why not ask McCain's pastor Hagee or his spiritual guide Parsley?

This is an even more tenuous connection with Kennedy than is the W liberator reference upthread. So tenuous, I'm not sure I understand at all the relationship between the two.

I'm not sure I understand at all the relationship between the two.

They are both disingenuous.

They are both disingenuous.

Yav -- do you really think that a blue collar man named Smith would've been treated the same as Kennedy under the same circumstances? Leaving the scene of an accident, passing several chances to report it before he went to sleep, etc?

Chappaquiddick incident

I respect your opinion on a lot of things, but if you think Teddy's surname didn't save his ass on this one and kept him out of the big house, you are wrong.

I've never gotten into the Chappaquidick controversy surrounding Kennedy because there are so many lunatics who hate liberals that have taken the story and presented it in the worst possible light without regard for truthfulness. None of us on this site honestly know what happened there but the judge who heard the testimony made his decision and, for me, that's the end of it. IT's called the legal system. The same folks who tell us Dems to "get over it" will be still debating that case til their last days. I think those folks are known as losers. Get a fucking life.

Not true. We know a lot about what happened that night. Like Teddy passing several houses that could have provided assistance before he slept for 8 hours.

Go to the bathroom, Danni. Look yourself in the eye in the mirror and say, "I would feel exactly the same way if it was W behind the wheel that day". Get back to us and tell us that you were able to do that

I read Danni's post. That is what made replying to it possible. (turn on the lights up there, bOoB) And I am over it, but thank you for your concern.

Today the penalties would be harsher because Kennedy was drunk. Still involuntary manslaughter doesn't always result in a prison sentence. OTOH, he's been charged and found guilty of cowardice for not attempting a rescue, and the sentence for that is evident in the public opprobrium that continues to dog him.

August Busch IV had a similar accident down in Tucson with the same result (circa '82-'83). When you have the ability to hire a really good lawyer it does make a difference. That's simply a fact.

Some people forget why MADD even came into existence.

When you have the ability to hire a really good lawyer it does make a difference.

So does having the local DA refuse to bring charges, the local judge refusing to order an arrest, and the grand jury refusing to indict in spite of evidence of malfeasance

Let's see how many John Does get tried for manslaughter for killing someone in an auto accident. So far we have no prosecution for Laura Bush and Ted Kennedy.

Gee--no cry for manslaughter charges.

Gee--no cry for manslaughter charges.

So to answer your question.

No. Kennedy did not get special treatment. Neither did Laura Bush. It is shown that many drivers kill their passengers and are not charged with manslaughter. There was an investigation. Kennedy got the exact same treament as John Doe. You just want him thrown in Jail because he is a Kennedy.

Get over it. It's been almost 40 years.

Or do you think blue collar John Doe would've gotten the same treatment? You never said upthread.

In historic context, I'd be pressed to find others prosecuted more harshly for the same type of crime. That onus is not on me.

The premise presupposes the proposition is correct. That has not been demonstrated.

My opinion, however, is that Kennedy had money, power, influence and the best legal team available. That's called "American Justice." If you want to understand that better, look at America's prison demographics.

My opinion, however, is that Kennedy had money, power, influence and the best legal team available. That's called "American Justice."

I think it is you who has a thing or two to get over, bOoB:

Talking to a monster like Johnson is a waste of time.

Get over him

Johnson

Did you say something?

Get over him

You all know I am no Bush fan so I am writing this impartially.

Kennedy's accident vs. Laura Bush's accident:

Kennedy:

Kennedy's crime was that he didn't report the car accident right away and left that girl to drown in his car. Even if he did call for help it might not have come in time to save her but there was evidence she survived for a little while in an air bubble so they know she did not drown right away.

Kennedy and his well-connected pals waited until the following day to report the accident that should have been reported to police immediately. Why not report it? Because he was stinking drunk (all had been partying all night long at someone's home) and his protectors circled the wagons and got him sobered up first so he wouldn't be charged with manslaughter for killing someone while DUI.

Laura Bush:

As for Laura Bush, she was only 16 at the time. I got my license and drove at 16 and the thought of myself as I was back then at that age (goofy and easily distracted) being behind a wheel terrifies me to this day especially when there are others on the road now just like I was back then.

I never heard that alchohol or pot played a part in Laura Bush's accident. She had friends in the car and, like most 16 year old girls, was probably gossping away, playing the radio at full blast, and not paying any attention to what she was doing. Laura Bush did not have the Bush connections she had later on at the time of her accident so she had no strings pulled for her. Nor was it proven she was under the influence. The boy in the other car who was killed because of her was -- by a cruel twist of fate -- a very close friend of hers. She did suffer a lot knowing she caused his death. I'm sure it haunts her to this day. I doubt though Kennedy has any regrets other than his accident cost him any run for the Presidency.

No political favoritism here. Just the facts as I remembered reading them.

Plus Laura Bush is not an elected official.

Did you know that Mary Jo did not drown?

She suffocated. Yes - she was in the back seat of
the car in 4 (four) feet of water. She died when
she ran out of air. She was alive, and the hero of
Chappaquiddick let her run out of air in 4 (four)
feet of water. Ted was arguably drunk at the time.
I'm assuming - I know - but the dude is clearly a
stone-cold alcohiolic.

Laura Bush mistakenly ran a stop-sign, crashed into a
vehicle and killed another person.

One is clearly an accident, the other is arguably
the result of Ted being Ted. Ted Smith would have
been crucified - but Kennedys often get free passes.

The hero of Chappaquiddick has gravy-trained off
the Kennedy name for a great number of years.

Califchris

You missed a few things. The road was clear at the intersection, and she could see the other car coming from a long way off--did she look or not? The driver of the other car was not a "close friend"--the other driver was a former boyfriend who had broken up with Laura. She might have been pissed and decided to run into him on purpose--we'll never know her thoughts or what really happened, but those are the facts. To say you think you know how Kennedy or Bush feels about their past deadly auto accidents is bullshit.

I never heard about the air bubble.

Link?

Plus Laura Bush is not an elected official.

Posted by goatman at 2008-05-18 03:55 PM

Plus Johnson isn't an elected official.

However, to say Laura has no effect on W's decision is pretty stupid. It's like saying Hillary had no influence on Bills decisions--or no wife has any effect on her husbands decisions.
But considering the source...

;-)

Ah, bOoB, your fear of the PGUP key continues. I posted this link upthread, but here it is for those with PGUPophobia

en.wikipedia.org

You probably didn't hear about him leaving the scene of the accident either, did you? Or that he passed 4 houses from which he could have asked for aid on his way to sleep? Or that he complained at 2:55 that morning after the incident about a noisy party?

Al that and more is in the link. There are none so blind as those who wear political blinders, bOoB.

BBob

"--the other driver was a former boyfriend who had broken up with Laura. She might have been pissed and decided to run into him on purpose --

Even for YOU that's a stretch! I know "Hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn" --
but, please, give me a break. How would Laura know she wouldn't be killed herself if she ran into him on purpose. I think she just wasn't paying attention. She was 16 years old. Think back to when you were 16.

Besides, I'd want to see an old 16 mm film of Laura intentionally aiming her car at her ex-boyfriend shown on youtube before I'll believe it. (grin)

BBob

It's like saying Hillary had no influence on Bills decisions--or no wife has any effect on her husbands decision.

In that statement you are correct.

"Pillow talk" is powerful.

BTW, bOoB, notice how you are provided a link when asked? You ought to do it for other people when asked to back up your outrageous claims.

Clearly, you cannot, so better yet -- stop making your outrageous claims.

Plus Johnson isn't an elected official.

Which is why I do not bring up any life-taking car incidents he may have been involved in, bOoB.

Teddy's brothers seem to have acute allergies to lead, however.

I never thought of it that way. I just thought of it as "gallows humor" or having an irreverent or dark sense of humor. As much as I'd like to claim my state has a monopoly on a specific style of humor, I have heard dark humor throughout this great country. Not that I don't appreciate the nod, though.

I always post links DummY.

But we do know what happened at chappaquiddick and it is appalling. To leave a young lady to die in a submerged car, not seek help, and not even report it for 8 hours and to have the gall to complain about a loud party while she is still submerged! I can't believe you defend such actions, bOoB. Even for you, bOoB, your being teddy's apologist is unbelievable.

I keep forgetting you are too stupid to use google yourself, but after Califchris supplied a link, I didn't think another one was necessary.

Here is the link from Califchris. and an excerpt.

en.wikipedia.org

"Jimmy Carter had been attempting to deal with the Iran hostage crisis and the hostile regime of the Ayatollah Khomeini for nearly a year. Those who assert that a deal was made allege that certain Republicans with CIA connections, including George H. W. Bush, arranged to have the hostages held through October, until Reagan could defeat Carter in early November, and then be released, thereby preventing an "October surprise" from the Carter administration in which the hostages would be released shortly before the election. The hostages were released the day of Reagan's inauguration, twenty minutes after his inaugural address."

Maybe you think that the release 20 minutes after the inauguration was just a coincidence. Maybe you think the Iranians were trembling in their boots at the thought of Reagan as President and fearfully released the hostages.

Here's a link of my own, and an excerpt.

www.juancole.com

' Piercing the shadowy netherworld of international espionage, Sick has written one of the most controversial and disturbing accounts of political intrigue to appear in recent years. In 1980, William Casey, then campaign manager of the Reagan-Bush ticket, without the knowledge or approval of the legitimate government, arranged a deal with the Iranian government that in return for military equipment, the Iranians would not release the 52 American hostages until Ronald Reagan was safely inaugurated. '

How about another

www.btinternet.com

"[The 'October Surprise' sabotage] was a covert operation by the Reagan-Bush campaign that secretly forged a deal with the Iranian radicals who, after overthrowing the US-backed Shah, were holding 52 Americans (including several CIA agents) as hostages. In exchange for holding the hostages until after the [1980 Presidential] election, the Reagan-Bush team offered the Iranians millions of dollars in arms, material, and other considerations. Sure enough, the hostages were held until minutes after Reagan's inauguration, then 'suddenly' released. Bush and Casey personally participated in the secret negotiations. James Baker, who would be Reagan's chief of staff and Bush's Sec. of State, was also involved.

Assert. Allege. So IOW, you admit that your statement yesterday: Bush the 1st negotiated with the Iranians to keep the hostages until Reagan is an allegation, not a fact. Why didn't you say so yesterday, bOoB? The way you worded it made it appear as if you were citing a fact.

LOL, bOoB. An allegation is made that the Iranians would negotiate with a campaign manager? LOL! You never cease to crack me up, bOoB. You'll believe anything won't you. Well, anything except the truth that is. Funny stuff, bOoB. Got any more?

Who had the capability of investigating such allegations? Bush? Reagan?

There is no proof. I think they did exactly as said. I think they had the hostages held longer than necessary for political reason. They had the means and the opportunity.

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

"So does having the local DA refuse to bring charges, the local judge refusing to order an arrest, and the grand jury refusing to indict in spite of evidence of malfeasance"

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

We know a lot about what happened that night. Like Teddy passing several houses that could have provided assistance before he slept for 8 hours.

"Go to the bathroom, Danni. Look yourself in the eye in the mirror and say, "I would feel exactly the same way if it was W behind the wheel that day". Get back to us and tell us that you were able to do that"

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

if you think Teddy's surname didn't save his ass on this one and kept him out of the big house, you are wrong.

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

"Sorry the razzing of your sotted slothly saint is getting under skin."

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

"What's so unbelievable about that? In the future whenever W is mentioned, it will be immediately followed by Iraq. People cannot shake the most infamous part of their lives, Larry. That's a fact of human nature. I know you would prefer that that fact applied only to Republicans, but it applies to everyone."

Yeah--It sounds like you are over it.

This is a flip-flop?

What a very strange perception of reality you have. Most people think a flip flop means frequently changing positions on a topic. But if you are going to use your own private definition of flip-flop, I have no arguement. Using your twisted vocabulary you are always right. The rest of the world might disagree, but in your head you'll always be right.

Congratulations!

Yeah--saying you can do something and then not doing it is flip flopping. Saying you have original thoughts and then not producing an example is flip flopping.

Saying you are over Kennedy and Chapaquidick and then showing contempt and hatred in every post about the subject is flip flopping. You can call it lying if you wish.

Of course you could still post one of your "original thoughts" and prove yourself to not be a liar. Until then--I say you flip flopped on that "original thought" statement. Again, you can call it a lie if it makes you feel better.

No dUmmy. Just because you CAN walk around the block and don't walk around the block--that doesn't make you a flip flopper.

To say you WILL walk around the block and then don't walk around the block---that makes you a flip flopper.

Get a big person to explain it to you flipper.

was flip flopping.

As I said, I love the chameleon like nature of this word.

In case you are wondering how the rest of the world and the dictionary defines the word:

a sudden reversal (as of policy or strategy)

No dUmmy. Just because you CAN walk around the block and don't walk around the block--that doesn't make you a flip flopper.

So the definition is no longer:

saying you can do something and then not doing it is flip flopping.

It is now:

To say you WILL walk around the block and then don't walk around the block---that makes you a flip flopper.

Jesus, bOoB, I don't think I can keep up with the mutation rate of your version of English. A language whose words change by the minute is indeed a difficult one to speak

flip-flop Audio Help /flpflp/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[flip-flop] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun, adverb, verb, -flopped, -flopping.
noun 1. Informal. a sudden or unexpected reversal, as of direction, belief, attitude, or policy.

To say you have gotten over something and then prove you have not gotten over it would be considered---a sudden or unexpected reversal, as of direction, belief, attitude, or policy.

Example--I'm over my ex-wife--that lying cheating whore..

Goatman--I'm over Ted Kennedy and Chapaquidick---if you think Teddy's surname didn't save his ass on this one and kept him out of the big house, you are wrong. Asking for the death of an American Senator because of your Political disagreements is where the Right Wing Conservative Republician Party is today, I think even Nixon an Reagan must be turning over in there graves. Miserable BASTARDS, SEE YOU ALL IN CHURCH TOMORROW YOUR FUCK HYPCROTICS!!!!!!

Posted by celisary

Get a grip you twit. I used to frequent a message board at Slate.com. I hope we all know how liberal that mag is. Anyway, when Reagan died the libs on that board trashed the shit out of him. It was one huge insult fest at the expense of a dead man, and you talk as if libs are incapable of this behavior. Get over yourself and your fake righteous indignation.

"..SEE YOU ALL IN CHURCH TOMORROW.."

Celisary,
Don't assume all righties are church-going Jesus freaks. Yes, some of us believe in God. And some of us don't. A lot of us are single-issue Repubs. Some of us disagree with the party platform on abortion, but are just gun-owners who want to keep it that way. Some of us recycle more than our liberal neighbors. Some of us own businesses and hope to pay less taxes or experience less regulation, but also find the war in Iraq to be a mistake. Some of us hate hippies because our parents were hippies and they suck. Some of us just hate to give hand-outs to loads who are too lazy to work for it.

But to assume we all march together, anymore than liberals do, is simplistic. Unless that's the only model you can comprehend. If so, then good job, Cel. You did a nice posting.

SE4NY6969, that is all celisary can comprehend. At least it must be because he/she spouts that tripe at least once a day here.

By the way, very well said. There are many liberals on this board who need to take heed of your words. However, it seems like they have a hard time understanding how a person can be a conservative yet not thump the Bible.

To be as 'free-thinking' as they claim to be, you would think that such a notion wouldn't be too hard for them to comprehend.

Finally, Kennedy does something I can agree with

lol

"finally, Kennedy does something I can agree with"

yeah, I agree.

Die.

LOL

And idiot liberals assuming all right wingers are church going people.
I mean how ignorant can you get? Being right wing is more common sense than anything.
Here is right wing thoughts:

-I like guns to protect my property and my family.
-I like lower taxes, because that gives everyone more spending money, which stimulates private spending.
-I like small government because everything the government does is wasteful and inefficient.
-I like private health care, because I like to be in charge of my health, not the government.
-I like vouchers for schools, because if I am paying taxes for education, then I deserve to pick where my kids go.
-I like secure borders, because I believe in the law of the land and our sovereignty.
-I hate social security, welfare and Government handouts. If I want other people to have my money, I give to charity.
-Marriage is between a man and a woman, anything else is not normal, and a bad example for our kids. Anyone that says 2 men or 2 women raising a child is equal to a man AND a woman, are simple stupid and selfish. its no where near the same. Not even close.
-I like clean environment, many national parks, clean water, clean air and support privatized innovation to further all these causes.

This is my position, this is the position of most right wing people, and all of those things do not have to have ANYTHING to do with believing in GOD or not, they are simply what I call common sense.

Many democrats agree with some of these points, but the parties have drifted apart because mainly, the left has been taken over by extremist socialists like Obama, Kerry, Pelosi, Boxer, etc.

If democrats can do it, I can do it too. I learned from you.

Anything you do, I can do, except I can do it more extreme.

You understand? Now let me make it clear.
